Aperture Import Panel - Missing field list for "add metadata from" presets

I have MacBookPro using OSX 10.5.6 and Aperture 2.1.2.
Prior to Aperture & Leopard upgrades when I imported images I had presets for basic import data (copywrite, byline, caption etc) and the list would show up on the lower right side of the import screen.
Now, although I can select a "preset list" from the "Add Metadata from" pick list nothing happens. There are no fields listed to append data to.
Not sure what is causing this but it makes adding import impossible to add any metadata.
Any suggestions. I have searched the support posts and find nothing like this solved.
Appreciate any ideas.
Cheers,
Mark

I was able to solve the problem by deleting the com.apple.aperture.plist file
First I made note of all my preferences, then I deleted the file. Closed Aperture and then re-booted the MacBookPro.
Once I rebooted and relaunched Aperture, reset preferences and closed Aperture and then restarted Aperture and now the Import panel is back to normal with the appropriate lists showing for the "add metadata from" presets.
Hopefully this will help others.

  • Aperture import panel missing

    Hi,
Aperture shows an empty import panel. Sometimes it is available after a reboot. The problem occurs, since I have Aperture installed the first time. Remove and reinstall does not help. OS X and Aperture are up to date.
Does anyone know what could cause this?
    Regards, Achim

I have seen no official Apple document, that restricts importing from a network volume, but quite a few users had problems storing their referenced originals image files on samba servers. You are not trying to import referenced, are you?
As a general advice: when importing from foreign file systems, it is safer to go for simple file names and to edit the filenames before trying to import, if necessary:
avoid "umlaute" and other ethnic characters,
    avoid any character, that the unix shell may treat special as a pattern, like "*", "/", "^" or "~";
take care, that the filenames are unique, even with capitalization ignored,
and use very short filenames, on no account longer than 32 characters, to be on the safe side.

  • Add Metadata from fields are missing...

    Hi there,
I'm new to Aperture and am working through a lesson book. I'm working on Aperture 2.1.3 3H12. When I try to import some images, and I click Add Metadata from, I don't get any fields to add data to. All I see on my screen is:
Add Metadata From: IPTC - Expanded
    X Append Replace
That's not, there are no scroll bars, and no fields to input data into. Directly beneath is the Cancel and Import All button...
The sample in my book shows a huge list of fields to add data to...
    Any help is greatly appreciated.
BTW, the book is Aperture 2, part of the Apple Pro Training Series, not that it matters.
    -Paul

Yes it is a problem with the 13" screen on the MBP. I can stretch the Aperture prior to clicking on Import and can see the Metadata. When I move the Aperture screen to my 20" secondary monitor, it's not an issue. So for sure it's the 13" screen...
If I hide the dock as well, it's workable...

  • Editing Autofill List for Custom Metadata Fields

I have 13,000+ photographs cataloged in Aperture 2.1 In an effort to better manage these photographs, I have added custom metadata for my own use. The fields let me know whether I have printed for my portfolio, watermarked, added to my web site, status of release, etc. All of this data is manually entered and at times my fingers don't always hit the correct keys on the keyboard so I end up with autofill data that is incorrect. I have been unable to find a way to edit the autofill data for custom metadata fields. Selecting 'Edit Autofill List' does not give me access to my custom field autofill information. Am I missing something? Is this an oversight on my part or on the part of the application?

Unfortunately I'm not using presets to do this. I don't think presets will help me with this, but it could be just that I don't understand presets that well. I use presets for entering Metadata from a shoot as I 'import' the raw files into Aperture. Maybe I'm trying to do something that Aperture was never intended to do, yet I need to have as few locations where I track
As an example, as I print a photograph for my portfolio I mark one of the custom fields labelled 'Printed' as 'Yes'. Later I can locate those 4 or 5 star photographs that haven't been printed and decide if I want to print them. I use the same type of arrangement for my website with an 'Added to web' indicator as 'Yes'. I may also mark that 'Printed' field as 'N/A'. The reason follows. For watermarking photographs before adding them to my site via iWeb, I export and the photographs and then reimport the watermarked photographs into a separate project but since these photographs are at a lower resolution, have a different color profile and are jpegs, I never print them for my portfolio so I mark them 'N/A' in the 'Printed' field. Well my fingers do slip on the keys and before I realize it the nifty autofill now requires that I type not just the 'N' to get an 'N/A', but I must type it all, because one time I typed 'N and a space' or some such and that is what autofills. It even happens with 'Yes'. I suppose the real answer is to be more careful as I type, but that is not my reality.
So, all I'm looking for is a way to have access to the autofill list that is created for my custom metadata fields so that I can delete the erroneous autofill entry. I've thought about deleting the field entirely and recreating it, but that would remove all those indicators or flags that I have already entered for my photographs.
Alternatively I could find an IPTC field that I am not using and find a way to use it, (because those fields have autofill lists that can be edited). However my record keeping would be exported with the photograph. Some of the information that I collect is private and should not be included in the metadata while other information should be; that is why I've settled on custom metadata fields.
I hope there is a simple answer to this that I'm overlooking.
If someone else has another way of tracking this same information that is better than the custom metadata fields, I would like to hear about it. However, it would mean reworking all my photographs that Aperture currently manages.

  • Missing Part list for Plant to Plant Purchase order

    Hi,
I need the following requirement in CO24,
In CO24 its shows the missing parts for Sales order, similarly we want the missing parts list for Plant to Plant Purchase order in the same report. Also the report,
1.It  should not consider the Planned order for a sales order.
2.It should not consider the planned order which can be convert into purchase requisition.
3.The procurement type should be "E" or "X".
Kindly guide me is there any standard layout changes in available or any development we have to do.
    Thanks

    Hi Purushothaman,
If you have the following settings in OPJK:
    Plant                 XXXX
    Order Type       XXXX
    Availability Check    2
    [X]Status Check
[X]Check material availability when saving order (may not need)
Checking Rule        PP PP checking rule
    Component Check Type    ATP check
Release material     2  Release permitted despite missing parts
Then in COHV you try to mass release the order with the following parameter:
    List: Order Header
    Selection: Your selection criteria
    Mass processing:
    Function: Release
    Max. No.of Processes 99
    Save Log: Always
Release control order: Collective Order Release
Then after the order is released, you can find the missing part list of that order in CO03 menu path:
    Goto->Missing Parts->Missing parts list
    Hope it helps.

  • Issue in Exporting the Sales Price List and Purchase Price List for the Materials from SAP Business ByDesign (SAP Cloud)

    Hello Everyone,
I would like to have a discussion on the issues, which I am facing at the time of Exporting the Sales Price List and Purchase Price List for the Materials from
    SAP Business ByDesign (SAP Cloud).
    (1). Sales Price List :
We have maintained Customer Group Specific Sales Price List for the Materials in the following Location.
Location :         Product and Service Portfolio Work Center > Pricing > Price Lists > Customer Group Specific Price List (Type of Price List)
Target :             We want to export the entire records in some reports or excel sheet.
Records :          Number of Materials in the Customer Group Specific Price List is more than 2,00,000
    Issues :
(A). In the SAP Business ByDesign Screen we can filter by number of records but we can export till  50,000 records.
And if we are trying to export records more than that limit, then it throws "HTTP 500 Internal Server Error".
(B). We could not find any SAP standard reports in Product and Service Portfolio and/or Business Analytics Work Center
for getting the entire record set of the Sales Price List, so that we can have the entire set of records together.
    Searching For :
(A). Is there any SAP reports or data source available for getting the entire Sales Price List records?
(B). Can we have any other filter conditions for exporting the Sales Price List records in a single shot or module wise?
    (2). Purchase Price List :
We have maintained the Purchase Price List for the Materials in the following Location.
Location :           Product Portfolio Work Center > List Prices > Active List Prices (Type of Price List)
Target :               We want to export the entire records in some reports or excel sheet.
Records :            Number of Materials in the Purchase Price List is more than 4,00,000.
    Issues :
(A). In the SAP Business ByDesign Screen we can not see more than 10,000 records and the actual number of
records are more than 4,00,000. We could able to download the records till 10,000 but that is not sufficient.
We want to export the entire records in an excel sheet.
(B). We could not find any SAP standard reports in Product Portfolio and/or Business Analytics Work Center for
getting the entire record set of the Purchase Price List, so that we can have the entire set of records together.
    Searching For :
(A). Is there any SAP reports or data source available for getting the entire Purchase Price List records?
(B). Can we have any other filter conditions for exporting the Purchase Price List records in a single shot or module wise?
Please go through the attached screen shots for the references and more clarity on the issues.
I am waiting for the valuable responses.

  • Missing fields in Goods Receipt PO from SAP SDK after upgrade

    Hi there,
    I am using VB.net 2003 with SAP 2005 PL 20 and SQL 2005
We have upgraded the Patch level of SAP 2005 from Patch Level 4 to Patch Level 20.
After the upgrade I executed the same source on the new Patch level the SDK didn't pick up existing fields that was used in my source.
I have commented the lines out and the Good Receipt PO is created again.
I am not sure what the fields where for or if they are still being used but they are not available in the SDK.
Please can someone let me know what the fields are for and why they are not available in the SDK?
    Private oOPDN As SAPbobsCOM.Documents
    'Initialise Goods Receipt PO object
                oOPDN = oCom.GetBusinessObject(SAPbobsCOM.BoObjectTypes.oPurchaseDeliveryNotes)
    With oOPDN.Expenses
        .LastPurchasePrice =
        .Stock =
        .WTLiable =
    End With
    Kind Regards,
    Jan Marais

    Thanks for the reply.
I am busy with the upgrade of the Patch levels in the correct order to see if this will sort ou tmy problem.
Do you think that this will have an impact on the UnitPrice field in the system not being able to be populated through the SDK ?
This will be on the creation of the Delivery Note / Goods Receipt PO and Goods Receipt.
P.S. I have checked the Calculate via UnitPrice field in the Settings.

  • Separate panel or task list for mimized and not-minimized windows

I am using OpenBox and I am looking into how to have two task lists (or panels), one with minimized windows and second with non-minimized windows. xfce-panel can show only minimized windows, but cannot show only non-minimized windows.
Is there any panel/task list which can do this?

xpixelz wrote:All what I found right now is that you may set properties on windows you don't want to show up in taskbar playing a little with "wmctrl -r yourapp -b toggle,skip_taskbar" and "-b toggle,skip_pager".
wmctrl -r :ACTIVE: -b toggle,skip_taskbar is interesting possibility. I can use wmctrl to apply skip_taskbar to do custom "archive" command - minimize and apply skip_taskbar. But only way how to list such a "archived" windows and possible unminimize + remove skip_taskbar would be custom Openbox pipe menu. It is a way, but I was hoping for simpler one.

  • Display Sales Order Result List for a customer from ECC

    Hello Experts.
I have a requirement to display list of sales order posted for a particular date or sold-to-party or ship-to-party.
    System landscape is as below:
My ECC system  holds all the data. Orders and subsequent documents are created here.
My CRM system does not have any Sales related data stored on CRM system.
Client requires to search for sales orders created for a customer.. based on few search parameters. and display the result list.
From the Result list,Navigate to see the Over View page, Also, with partner information and material information as assignment blocks.
    How could i achieve this?
Another Point is we do't not want to create or Edit or even Display ERP Sales Order on UI.
We want to have UI look.
Kindly, if someone has implemented this scenario or used standard CRM objects to achieve this functionality please share.
    Thanks

    Hi Nageshwara,
You need Lean Order(LORD) Interface set up for such kind of requirement.
There should be a trusted RFC Destinations needs to be set up in the CRM system and an ERP Profile to be set up in the IMG Path CRM --> Transactions --> Settings for ERP Transactions Maintained via CRM ---> Define Profiles for ERP Sales transactions. If these things are properly setup you can use the component ERP_S for searching for Sales Order in ECC using the criteria that you mentioned in your question.

    Mahesh

  • Using Automator to Add Metadata from Folder Structure

I have a huge set of .wav files organized in a folder structure like this:
    Artist->Album->Song
I am trying to write an Automator workflow to import each song into iTunes whilst adding Artist and Album metadata.  I can get the workflow to work for a single artist with a single nested album, but multiple nested albums result in Artist and Album tags which are concatenated versions of all the artist and album names.  This is my workflow:
I'm using variables to store the artist name and album name.  Somehow, when this gets to "Set Info of iTunes Songs", the artist and album info gets concatenated.  Any ideas much appreciated.  Thank you.

oh, i can do all those things with the batch mode in iPhoto but I would like to integrate these steps in a longer Automator workflow - i.e. not having to open iPhoto and do it manually...

  • Aperture 3.5.1 Import panel empty after iTunes 11.2.1 security update

    Just a coincidence?
When I installed the recent iTunes 11.2.1 (1) security update, that directly followed the combined MacOS X 10.9.3 / iTunes 10.2 update, I got a warning, that Aperture had to be quit before installing the update.
After relaunching Aperture the Aperture Import panel stopped working:
The fonts in list view were upside down:
The Toolbar was empty and only gradually items kept reappearing.
The File Chooser and the Import settings bricks were empty.
Aperture was hanging on "Loading Assets" and not very responsive.
Clicking onto the empty bricks did occasionally reveal a pop-up menu:
This problem seems to be fixed, after I trashed Preferences and Presets:
    ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.Aperture.plist
    ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.Aperture
    ~/Library/Application Support/Aperture/Import Presets.plist
But I would like to know, if anybody else had similar problems with Aperture after the recent MacOS X 10.9.3 / iTunes 11.2.1 update.
SInce this iTunes update fixes a security issue it should not be skipped.

It was just a coincidence   Sorry, iTunes!
The problem was, that a broken file on my Desktop messed up the Import panel.
As soon as I add a certain empty PDF file with the name "119435-45-55 [6L].pdf" to my Desktop, strange things will happen with the Import panel on all three of my Macs running MacOS X 10.9.3 and Aperture 3.5.1. It took me a while to identify the file, because Aperture does show the filename as empty and does not show a preview.
The Import window will be messed up -
missing icons from the Toolbar and Import settings pane,
the File Chooser will be empty,
the busy indicator will show "Loading assets", and the Activity Window "Building Thumbnails"
The thumbnail of the corrupted file will be empty and the filename is showing as empty,
When I switch to list view, all text will be upside down as shown in my original post.
The problem is not caused by the brackets in the filename; if I rename the file, Aperture is still acting up. The file cannot be opened in Preview either.

  • Aperture doesn't see all Pictures for import

I am having problems with Aperture finding photo files for importing. I set the family tree (having tried various routes) for viewing various folders and the images that I know are in the folder, just dont appear!

Have you tried to toggle between folders in the Aperture Import panel? I noticed, that it takes some time for the image files to appear in the Import window.  And Aperture does not seem to refresh the Import Browser window, when you move files around.
    So try the following:
Close the "Import" panel in Aperture.
In the Library Inspector panel make sure, you have a library item selected, that you can import to, not the Trash or something, otherwise the Import window might appear to be empty in AP 3.4.
    Check again the settings.
Then select the folder you want to import from in the Import panel. Wait a moment for the images to appear. If the do not appear, switch to a different folder and then back.
If that still will not show your photos, switch between different "File Types" settings.
If none of this helps, check, if Aperture will see the Desktop or Pictures folder, if you are importing into a different Aperture library.
If even a new library does not help, it may be a problem of corrupted Preferences. Then you probably have a problem with corrupted user preferences.
Remove the Preferences: Remove the Aperture's user preferences from the User Library as described here:
    Aperture 3: Troubleshooting Basics  http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3805
Note:Your User Library is hidden by default in MacOS X 10.7.x or later - to open it in a Finder window use the "Go" menu from the Finder's main menu bar.
Quit Aperture, if it is running. Log off and on again.
Open the user library by using the Finder's "Go > Go to Folder" menu and hold down the options-key, until "Library" appears in the drop down menu. Select it.
In the widow that will open, scroll down to "Preferences"
From the "Preferences" folder  remove "com.apple.Aperture.plist".
Then try to launch Aperture again.
But deleting the "Preferences" file will cause Aperture to forget the preferences settings. Be prepared to have to reset all options you set using the Aperture Preferences panel.

  • How to add metadata on import

I can not for the life of me figure out how to add keywords on importing images. I have scoured the net looking for answers and cant find anything. I see the "Add Metadata from", but there is nothing underneath it where you can add information. The tutorial video from Apple shows fields underneath where you can add information, but I cant figure out how to get that to show up. This is driving me craaaazzzyy!! Any help sure would be appreciated!

I'm having the same issue as the image in the previous post. Anyone else have this too or a fix?
I am running 10.5.4 and the most recent version of Aperture w/ all updates
I have read thru the suggestions and deleted the plist files with no fix.
I also re-installed and the issue remains. The machine I am installing it on was just recently formatted and re-installed.
This is very confusing, looking forward to any help or suggestions.
    Thanks,
    Ian
