Aperture library not showing up in upload browser

When I go to upload Aperture photos to the web, my Aperture library is not listed in the media browser. Only iPhoto and Photo Booth is there. I've had to go into Aperture and export the photos to upload them. This started to happen after I upgraded to Lion. Any suggestions?

Aperture did not show up in any other apps, but I found an discussion started by someone with the same issue, and the issue was resolved by creating a new library, then swicthing back to your original library. I tried this and it worked for me also. Here is the discussion: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2338518?start=0&tstart=0
Thanks for your help

  • New Aperture photos not showing up in iLife browser

I recently upgraded from Aperture 2 to version 3. When I open the Media Browser in any of the iLife apps, I can see all the photos/projects which existed in Aperture prior to the upgrade, but any pictures I've added since do not show up.
I've tried all manner of repairing permissions, turning off face recognition, creating blank libraries, turning preview sharing off and on, but nothing seems to help.
Does anyone have a possible solution?

I had this problem, and what I actually did was a rebuild on the Aperture database which fixed the problem. I got it from Scott Bourne's link below. After rebuilding the Aperture database, I restarted iTunes and the Aperture libraries showed up with the correct count.

It’s been a while since I’ve talked about this but I recently received a question for the podcast that might be answered here on Photofocus.com.
If you use Aperture (II or III) and you have a large library or make lots and lots of changes to even a small library, the Aperture library can bog down or even become unstable.
This has something to do with the database and can lead to symptoms like pictures not showing up or slow scrolling to occasional thumbnail rendering and overall slower performance. I personally also believe it’s tied to a memory leak in the program. In any event, when this happens, rebuilding the Library is often the fix.
Before you rebuild your Library, back up everything to your Vault. Then, quit Aperture. Press and hold Option + Command and launch Aperture by double clicking on the application icon. Follow the prompts to start the rebuild.
It will take some time for the rebuild to be complete. I have my images stored in multiple Libraries of 10,000 image. Rebuild time is about 45 minutes on average.
At the end of the process, you should see snappier performance. This can also be a fix if things are just going haywire without reason.
When you are confident that you haven’t lost any images, back up this newly-rebuilt Library to your Vault and you’re finished.
I recommend that you do this every three months or so and more often if you are a heavy Aperture user or have very large Libraries.

  • Aperture previews not showing up in media browser (and iweb)

some of my images in aperture projects do not show up in iweb or in the media browser at all....the projects are listed and most other project show all images, but some don't....
i tried several things including consistency check and rebuilding the entire library....nothing works....
this is very annoying...one of the few reasons (but a major one for me) to stick with aperture over LR is the system wide integration....but it has to work....

thanks for that info....i actually managed to fix it by rebuilding my previews.....but there was no reason at all for the previews not to show up....and it actually took 2 times to rebuild them all....some still did not show up after the first run....
i really hope we will see an upgrade soon....some things just have to be smoothed out....and a few added....

  • New Photos Library Not Showing up in Media Browser

    Hi, all--
I have the new Photos Library app, but I cannot select photos from it in other apps (like Twitter) because it doesn't show up the Media Browser that appears in the sidebar. The Photos Library is stored in my Pictures folder, and although I can click on the Pictures folder, the package contents of Photos Library isn't accessible there. Is anyone else experiecing this? I see other posts about this problem for iWeb, but I'm seeing it with EVERY 3rd party app/website. I can't select those photos. Help, please!
    Thanks!

It's not a bug. It's not an iWeb issue.
    It's progress.
Everytime something new arrives, the old is left behind.
    But there is a solution.
iPhoto and the old library are still on your computer.
Open iPhoto and select the old library.
After that the images are available again.

  • Aperture library not showing in mail, iweb or iphoto

After upgrading to 3.1 my Aperture Library is not coming up in other applications. It also is not showing up as an option for screen saver. Anyone have this issue?

Do you have everything looking right inside the library? Can you go into your Aperture library bundle and see if you have the following files: an ApertureData.xml file, an iLifeShared folder, and inside the iLifeShared folder a file called ApertureDatabaseTimestamp?

  • Aperture is not showing up on iWeb or iMovie

My library in Aperture is not showing up on iWeb or iMovie. All that shows up is iPhoto which I dont have much on there so right now my temp fix is transferring the photos I need to iPhoto and then using but shouldnt Aperture integrate the same way.

but shouldnt Aperture integrate the same way.
It definitely should. Have you set Aperture to always share Previews with the iLife and iWorks Appications?
Aperture main menu -> Aperture -> Preferences -> The Previews Tab
Set this to "Share previews with iLife and iWorks", also to "New Projects automatically generate previews" and select a reasonable preview size, the size of your screen would be perfect.
If you already had sharing enabled, update the previews:    Photos -> Update Previews
or  Photos -> Delete Previews, and then "Update"
If this did not help, you may have a problem, that the Media Browser does not recognize your Library:
Create a new (temporary) Aperture Library:   File -> Switch to Library -> Other/new
Then Quit Aperture, open Aperture again,
Switch to your old Library:  File -> Switch to Library ->  Your main Aperture Library
    Quit Aperture again.
Hopefully the iApps now will show Aperture.
If not, maybe there are problems with your Preferences or the Library needs fixing: Then go thru the drill of the Trouble Shooting basics:
    Aperture 3: Troubleshooting Basics: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3805
If this does not help, report back.
    Good luck

  • Horizontal Spry Menus are not showing up in ANY browser HELP!

    www.tvnewsjunkie.com
I am a novice web designer and I need help!
The above site listed is the site I am currently working on. As you can see the menu bar...is not a menu bar at all but a long list of links along the left side.
HOWEVER, when I click on LIVE VIEW in DreamWeaver everything looks fine.
There should be 7 total menu bars with 7 Dropdown menu options each (except on the bottom menu bar which there will only be 4 I believe)
    What am I doing wrong??

Thank you so much for your help! This matter is certainly closed.
I just want to add, however, that somehow my Spry Assets folder was placed somewhere outside of the rest of my files! no wonder I was confused.
    Thank you again!

  • Aperture Library not accessible (Aperture 2.1)

    Hello
Aperture 2.1 on Intel-Mac suddenly ignores completely the content of my Aperture Library! The file ApertureLibary.aplibrary is there and with Finder I can see that my photos are included, but within Aperture I get an empty set - no photos are shown anymore. I can't remeber to have changed anything on my Mac so it is a complete mysterium why Aperture is not showing me my photos. I tried to delete preferences of Aperture but without success. It's very strange. Any ideas?
    Best regards,
    Gian-Reto.

Than you for this hint. It helped - at least, my pictures are shown again.
But now, Aperture is rebuilding my projects each time I start the application (without option/command pressed, of course). That's not very comfortable, because starting time is much, much longer now.

  • Current Aperture Library not seen by iPhoto

I work exclusively in Aperture for all of my photo needs, but recently decided to import some pictures into iPhoto for ease of uploading to Shutterfly (they had a plug-in for iPhoto). Much to my dismay, when I pulled up the "display Aperture Library" it showed a very outdated (6-8 months old) library! None of the recent photos were there, and a lot of old stuff that I had discarded showed up (although the picture had a "?" because it was missing). I tried both the Rebuild and Consistency Check (Command-Option at startup). I only have one library, and it is in the default location under the pictures folder. I am the only user on this iMac, and there is nothing in the shared folder either. I'm at a total loss.

The library from Aperture had never been moved or copied, and it was never altered in any way outside of Aperture itself. It has been and still is in the same place as it always has (on the local hard drive under the "Pictures" folder) and has never been renamed.
What I ended up doing is to create all new project names, moved all my photos from the old projects into the newly titled projects, and then deleted the old project titles. Somehow, this fixed the issue and iPhoto can see the Aperture Library now. I don't know how or why, but its working again. And I did nothing outside of Aperture (no copying, moving, renaming, etc. of the original Aperture Library file).

  • Content library not showing in iMovie 10.0

Content Library not showing.  No answer found.  It is NOT at the top as some say.  Where did it go and where is it?  What's the best alternative to this stupid iMovie program.  So frustrating.  It was working a month ago.

So what happens if you choose to proceed with opening the library?
Do you have a library backup, for example on Time Machine?
I have automatic dated backups of all my iMovie 10 libraries but I can't remember how I set it up and there is no mention of backups in iMovie help.  (It is doing the same thing as FCP 10.1 does).  I have never tried to restore from them though.
    Geoff.

  • I purchased a new computer.  Why when I log in to itunes does my library not show up

I purchased a new computer.  Why when I log in to itunes does my library not show up?

I'm confused....if itunes is basically storing your music for you and you log in, why doesn't that automatically default to your account and display all of you music.  What's really strange is, if I have my old laptop on and I am logged into itunes it showed up on my new laptop.  But when I log out, it's gone

  • Our illustrator files are not showing up when uploaded to creative cloud.

Our illustrator files are not showing up when uploaded to creative cloud. They are visible sometimes when we turn on and off the layers. Please help thanks.

If you feel that you have enough evidence of the symptoms, use the feedback at http://www.apple.com/feedback/itunesapp.html to let Apple know. The "feedback type" of "bug report" has been removed from the iTunes feedback, so I suggest you use use "Other".
You will not receive any feedback from them, but they do read the submissions and act upon them. It can take a while, and more than one iTunes update before the issue is resolved.

  • Aperture is not showing all photos in photo stream.

Aperture is not showing all photos in photo stream.  I have re-set photo stream from within the aperture app, but it only downloads a small fraction of my photo stream.  Any ideas?

Sorry but you're wrong, as the article that you quoted pointed out
Since your Mac has more storage than your iOS devices, your photos automatically download and your Mac keeps every photo from your Photo Stream by default

  • Aperture 2 Library not Showing in iPhoto

I am trialng Aperture 2. Photos I put in the trial library, do not appear in the Show Aperture Library option in iPhoto. The photos are also not availabe for upload to iPhone through iTunes. I have all the Preview preferences checked including 'share with iLife'
I have rebuilt permissions, I have replaced pref files.....resest Preview info in Aperture several times with restarts in between - cant get it to work at all... I have iLife 08 and itunes 7.6
    Anyone any ideas?

OK heres the answer: Aperture was not generating previews despite correct preference settings. To overcome this you control-click on the Library in the left column while holding down the Option key. This will give you a "Generate Previews" option. Selecting this will bring back access not only form iPhoto but for iPods from within iTunes.

  • Aperture Previews NOT Showing

I uploaded an album of 6 pics earlier today and as I was going to check the images, after I click them they appear on the large preview window for about a second before dissapearing.
I checked my older albums and they are all doing the same thing. I tried to drag a few of the images to my desktop and then preview them using "Preview" and that seems fine. Back in Aperture, the images all contain their own metadata and all show in the bottom preview (scroll/folder browser), it's only when I click on a pic that it shows on the larger above it window for one second or so before "dissapearing."
As you can see one of the images is highlighted yet it doesn't show up on the large preview. Metadata is all present.
First thing I did was to update from 3.2.3 to 3.2.4
I then restarted Aperture and held down "Command" + "Option" and have done all three options in the "Aperture Library First Aid" list:
    Repair permissions
    Repair Database
    Rebuild Database
each time checking if the issue was resolved before restarting again and rebuilding/repairingwith the next option.
I finally removed my preferences folder from "~/Library/Application Support/Aperture" as per the troubleshoot guide. Checked the program and the issue still persists. I moved that file back to it's original directory to gain back my old preferance settings.
What now, anyone have any suggestions?

I finally removed my preferences folder from "~/Library/Application Support/Aperture" as per the troubleshoot guide. Checked the program and the issue still persists. I moved that file back to it's original directory to gain back my old preferance settings.
Have you tried to remove the Aperture User Preferences, not the Presets/Preferences folder? If the GUI is behaving strangely, a broken "com.apple.Aperture.plist" file may be the reason.
    - Quit Aperture and log out and log on again.
    - In the Finder choose "Go to folder" from the "Go" menu.
    - Type   ~/Library/Preferences in the "Go to the folder" field. Press the Go button.
    - Remove the "com.apple.Aperture.plist" file from the Preferences folder.
    - Then lauch Aperture and check again.
The "Basic Troubleshooting" support article http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3805 does not mention the logon/logoff, but working with MacOS Lion it is essential to do so. Due to the changes in the Process System (Automatic Termination) you can never be sure if a program really terminates, when you make it quit, even if it looks terminated in the Dock. Only force quitting, logout, or shutdown will ensure that the program terminates. And since "force quitting" is not recommended for a database program, logoff is the next best option.
