Aperture makes desktop backgrounds and iphone backgrounds blurry.

So, I don't know when exactly this started happening, possibly after 2.1, but here is the issue.
I organize my desktop and iphone backgrounds in aperture with one project for each, with smart albums dividing it up so that I can have different categories. Each photo just has one or two keywords to keep it organized. Then to change my desktop I go into system preferences and choose it from the drop down there. Before this specific time that I can't remember, the desktop would change and it would be perfectly clear and sharp, like the picture. Now when I change it to a background added after that time, it is blurry and pixelated. Also, the same thing occurs with my iPhone. The backgrounds are exactly the size of the iPhone's screen, but pictures added after that time come out blurry on the iPhone.
I've reinstalled OS X a few times and Aperture from scratch a few times but have kept the same library throughout. What could be the issue? I hate not being able to have new backgrounds, for about a few months now.

Success!  Well sort of.  I went into Mission Control Preference Pane (in System Preferences) and fiddled about with a few ticks. The one that seemed to make the difference was the one called Show Dashboard As A Space.  Make sure it's ticked.  This is a bit of a bummer if you want multiple desktops with different personalised photo backgrounds but you don't want the dashboard as a space.  It's still a fault Apple! So if someone finds this solved their issues then please don't mark the post as "this solved my problem", maybe just "this helped".
Because the issue is not resolved for those who don't want the dashboard as a space - those people can only have Apple's own backgrounds on their desktops!  And it is worth point out that without the Show Desktop As Space box ticked, even with Mission Control set to just one background, the Aperture photo would not be reatained through log out and restart etc. AND the actual Desktop/Screen Saver preference dialogue box didn't work properly, taking ages to select a picture and the picture not changing on the background itself until the user threatens to exit the box.  As I say though it all went swimmingly with the Show desktop as space box ticked.
Dear oh dear Apple, with every step "forward" you take there's always the odd lurch backwards into the murky days of Windows 1.0!

    I'm about to purchase Lion.  My husband and I each have a desktop, iPad and iPhone.  We currently use one Apple ID for iPad/phone purchases.  Can we purchase 2 copies of Lion with one Apple ID or do we have to use different Apple IDs for the purchase?  If we use the different Apple IDs can we still use the same ID for all of our purchases.

    And just in case you were wondering, installing one purchased copy on all the Macs you own is specifically called out as allowed in the Mac OS X Lion license.
    If you do not want to download multiple times, just copy the Applications -> Install Lion app to a safe place BEFORE you do the first install.  Then copy that copy to any Mac you own where you want to install Lion.

  • Can I sync a desktop, laptop and iPhone?

    I want to sync my desktop, laptop and iPhone - I am able to sync 2 of the 3 - but not all 3 of them.
    Is it possible to sync them all?
    If not, if I bookmark something on the one that isn't synced, then it won't be added to my iphone (for example).
    Thank you!
    Kayci

    You are talking about the menu bar of Itunes, right?
    Yes. With iTunes open the menu bar is at the top of your screen.
    where exactly is the Store/synck you iphone option?
    After you authorize the computer connect your iPhone then follow the instructions here > iOS: How to transfer or sync content to your computer
    When you are done transferring the data to the desktop, right or control click the iPhone under Devices left side of the iTunes window then click Back Up.
    That way you will have a backup just in case you need to restore your iPhone.

  • Desktop, Tablet and iPhone interface.

    Where is the desktop, tablet and iPhone interface. Seen tutorials for them, but not in my Muse application.

    Yes, I am getting something different. The title is correct, the video is wrong. Did you bother to try it? did anyone bother to try it?
    A little frustrating here...
    You also did not respond to my question about copying content. I assume the answer is, "next version - maybe".
    I like Muse, I am using it daily but for an Adobe product it does seem to have more issues than I would expect.
    Round trip to BC would be nice. Not going to go one way and then live in that environment forever.
    I know, put that in the ideas.

  • Desktop, laptop and iPhone: Need common contacts, calendars

    Once upon a time, I could synch to MobileMe from my desktop MacPro, overwriting everything on MobileMe so that I then had two up to date copies of my calendars and contacts.  I would then synch my MacBook Pro with mobileme, overwriting everything on the laptop.  I would also connect my iPhone to the desktop, and synch it.  The result was two computers and one iPhone that all had the same data for calendars and contacts.  It took a bit of time to do, but it worked, and I could rely on it.
    Now, the desktop and the iPhone can be kept in synch, and if I add something on either, the other will know about it -- mostly.  But the laptop is somehow out of the loop.  It has some of the contacts, but not all, and it is not getting updated.
    How do I make ONE common contact database, and have 3 calendars (Personal, Work and Family) the same on all three devices?  So that if I make a change on one, the other two will automatically be updated.

    That's exactly how it should work with iCloud, the same information everywhere.
    If one of the calendars isn't syncing correctly, turn off calendar syning on that device, delete all the calendars on that device and then turn calendar syncing back on.
    You may want to back up data before you do any of this.

  • Desktop Backgrounds not working properly in Aperture/Mountain Lion

    If I set my desktops with the default Apple backgrounds, all works well.  I can log out and back in and the backgrounds are retained.
    If I use the "change desktop background" dialogue box and set the backgrounds to photos from the Aperture library, when I log out and back in, all the backgrounds have reverted to the standard Mountain Lion background.
    If I open Aperture (in Desktop 2) and select a photo, I can do File/Share/Set desktop and that will change Desktop 2 (but none of the other desktops) to the current image.  THEN if I restart, desktop 2 will have retained the background I've chosen.
    I've spoken to the Apple tech support, but only the Mountain Lion people can help me.  They tried repairing permissions, terminal commands and all sorts but it didn't work.
    The guy on Aperture support sent me some standard articles but nothing specific, and as my copy of Aperture is more than 90 days old he can't help any further.  I am running the latest version, 3.3.2.  I've done all the basics like rebuilding the library and repairing permissions etc... I've deleted the aperture preference file, and the desktop preference file.  All to no avail.
    Anyone help?  Please!
    Thanks,
    Mark

  • E-mail not syncing b/t Desktop and IPhone 4S

    I have a 4S IPhone.  I noticed that whenever I check an e-mail on my phone, that e-mail isn't being marked as read/deleted, etc. when I check my e-mail on my desktop.  So, everytime I go into my e-mail on my desktop, I think I have tons of e-mail I need to address when in reality I have already replied/deleted/checked via my phone.  Why is this?  What do I do to correct his so that my desktop account and Iphone account are connected?  My e-mail account is a Hotmail account and my desktop is a Mac OSX (Version 10.8.4).
    Thanks!

    If you're saying that you did not get a new phone, and it's been working up to now with no changes at all on your part, then the problem is with your email provider.
    If you have the account in question configured as an IMAP or Exchange account on BOTH the phone and your Mac, then the state of the messages, folders, etc, should be synchronized.

  • ICal subscriptions and iPhone

    I want my subscribed calendars (such as the Birthday calendar—very important) to show up on the iPhone, but MobileMe only counts the "Calendars" and not the "Subscriptions". how does one do this?

    Unfortunately you can't. If you want your iPhone to have subscribed calendars, you need to sync it via iTunes and not use the push feature. How Apple could have ever left this simple but NECESSARY function out just floors me. I subscribe to my wife's calendar so we avoid conflicts in schedules. I guess it was too much to ask that if she changes her calendar, it would be pushed to my iPhone since I subscribe to her calendar. But as always, subscriptions are only visible on the desktop application and iphone if you do an iTunes wired sync. It just works. hmmmm.

  • Wanting to make iphone wallpaper my desktop background?

    I would like to make my iphone wallpaper my desktop background. Anyone know where I can find properly sized images for use on my desktop? Thanks.

    Where did you get the wallpaper that is currently on the iPhone? What image are you exactly using as the wall paper photo?
    You can try a google search for Wallpaper used on iPhones.
    And this may provide you with full sized images and properly sized images.
    If you snapped a photo on the iPhone and are using it as a BG for the iPhone. Then you can simply email this photo to yourself and use as a wallpaper or sync the photo to your PC/Mac

  • HT2478 hello, i follow the instructions but my background is still coming up with my bad photos in aperture, but I want to get the apple ones, I click on Desktop Pictures and click galaxy. but nothing changes

    Hello, my problem is my background.
    one day my background was fine, it was the same as its always has been!
    I go on the next day and its changed?
    It comes up with the worst pictures that I have taken through aperture and changes everytime I wake the computer up! I dont log out
    So I go to the menu bar at the top of my mac screen (2010 iMac). I click the apple sign, go to system preferences and go to what you call 'Desktop & Screen Saver'
    Then I click on apple in the left tab and it comes up with your designed backgrounds. I click on 'Desktop Pictures' and click on the first picture (Galaxy) and... the background is still the old horrible looking photographs and the galaxy background wont come up , it has been like this for a while now and i try again every week
    please Help!!

    iPhoto 6 and later: Rebuilding the iPhoto library

  • Eliminate Aperture Library from Desktop Background

    I have two very large Aperture libraries and both get listed when I look for a desktop background. I have a specific folder I use for all my desktop photos and don't want to deal with thousands of photos in the Aperture libraries (I export versions into the desktop folder to make selections easier). Is there a way to get rid of the aperture libraries? Until I installed Aperture 3 the Aperture library wasn't there, only my "Desktop Photos" folder.
    Thanks,
    Carl

    There is indeed a disclosure triangle that I can use to shrink the library listings and yes, that does help. I wasn't really clear in that where once I had my folder of "Desktop Photos" showing up in the sidebar now it doesn't. If I try to add it, I'm told it already exists. But, danged if I can find it. For now, I've put my desktop photos in my "Pictures" folder but I don't like that because that folder is on my Macintosh HD drive - not where I actually keep my photos.
    I'll continue to experiment a bit - I know it's something i did somewhere. And, I may uncheck the share previews and then see what the ramifications are.
    Thanks to both of you for the responses,
    Carl

  • HT2478 how do you make the setting to change desktop background every time you shut down your mac

    how to make setting to change desktop background every time you close your mac
    because i want to make it if anybody tries to change my dekstop picture i want it to go backto set desktop picture

    Don't let other people access your Mac in admin mode - they might change something a lot more important than the Desktop picture.
    However you can use Automator: create an Application in it, and select 'Set the Desktop Picture' from the Library. Choose the picture you want. Save the application, then go to System Preferences>Accounts>Login Items and select the Automator application you just created. This will then run at startup and set your chosen picture.

  • Background images for website enlarges on iPAD and iPhone

    I have a responsive website. My CSS3 for the background looks like this:
    body {
               background url(.../images/backgroundArchx1920.jpg) no-repeat center center fixed;
               -webkit-background-size:cover;
               -moz-background-size:cover;
               -0-background-size:cover;
               background-size:cover;
    It looks great on a desktop and on my home page on all devices. BUT when I go to pages that have a photo gallery on the the iPAD and iPhone 5 enlarge the background and it is not fixed anymore.
    What am I missing?

    There are many places to get an answer to your question, but this is not likely it. This is a user-supported technical support forum for other users - not developers. Maybe someone here can help, but I think you are better off with Google or a web development support forum.

  • Aperture Library unavailable in Desktop Background

    I've been transitioning to Aperture for quite some time and have been having recurring trouble, with both 3.0 and 3.1, in using the Aperture Library in my Desktop Backgrounds preference pane.
    When loading the Desktop preference pane, the stock images and an unused iPhoto library load up, but the Aperture library waits for a few moments and then it loads nothing. No tiny arrow on the left, no images in the window, nothing. The Aperture library loads into the Screen Saver preference pane, as well as other places for the iLife Media Browser. JUST NOT the Desktop Background pane.
    I took the time to look in the Console for some insight and I got that System Preferences sent the message:
    ** DesktopPref error: DSKApertureRootSource -loaddata TIME OUT!!! There something wrong with iLife Media Browser
    Yes, that would be Apple's poor grammar. If anybody has ANY insight into this, I'd welcome it, because I'd love to get this solved.
    For those who might already suggest, let me note that I have rebuilt the library twice, repaired permissions, blah blah blah.

    I have exactly the same problem, but I can trace it a bit further.
    I use three Aperture libraries.
    I open one of them in Aperture, and then select the other ones with File > Switch library.
    Two of them work fine and appear in "Change desktop background"
    The third one does not appear - I only have "aperture" written in grey, but no subfolders.
    THIS ONE IS THE ONE CONTAINING FACEBOOK SHARED ALBUMS !!
    So I'm afraid the Facebook/flicker sharing functionality could be (once more (*)) the problem here.
    Can anyone confirm based on own experience ?
    +(*) once more because it seems that these functionalities already break the bridge between Aperture and FrontRow. It does on my iMac, and it has been reported in many other threads also.+
