Aperture opens but I keep getting a pinwheel

Recently as early as yesterday I started having trouble when I open Aperture. The program opens but I get a pinwheel preventing me from doing anything in the program. I am at Version 3.2.2 build 4. I have tried restoring and even going back to the install disk originally used. I do not have this problem with other programs. I am using an early 2008 IMAC with Intel processor MAC OS X Version 10.7.2. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks.

I also went looking for the plist file and can't find one.
You need to remove the plist file from
    Your Home Folder -> Library -> Preferences -> com.apple.Aperture.plist
But the Aperture preferences are inside your user library, and in OS Lion the Libraries are hidden files by default.
To open them in the Finder, use the Finder "Go" menu.
To show you User Library:
     Finder menu -> Go
hold down the opt-key, till the Library appears in the drop down menu, select it
To show the System Library (if you ever need it) :
     Finder menu -> Go  -> Go to Folder
enter      /Library        press return.
If removing the  "com.apple.Aperture.plist" doesn't help proceed with the other options in the Trouble shooting Basics and rebuild the Aperture Library.

Léonie
P.S: I put an Automator workflow "MoveAperturePreferenceToDesktop.workflow", to remove the plist from the user library on my web page: http://dreschler-fischer.de/FAQ/Scripts_Services/Entries/2012/1/16_Remove_Apertu re_Preferences.html
