Aperture or Light Room - Do you have a preference?

Want to turn out professional-grade photographs using the photos in iPhoto, moving them into either Aperture or Light Room. Leaning towards the latter right now and I'd be curious to know if there are any huge downsides...THANKS!

I've only used Lightroom but keep intending to buy Aperture just to see what all the fuss is about. I normally just use Photoshop CS6 for all of my RAW conversion but back when I was using SC3 I used Lightroom a great deal. Both do pretty much the same thing, as I look at the specs for Aperture, but it would seem that the latter does a better job of integrating with OS X, which would be a big plus depending on how your photo management system works and how much you'll need that integration with OS X.
I feel as if I'm biased towards Adobe products, so take what I opine with the proverbial grain of sale. I just use and prefer Lightroom.

Sky Go is no replacement for Multiscreen as it only gives you a fraction of the service.

for that location you descibe it comes from the fan since that is the location of the fan.
Just talk to them guy, if they think your fan sound is normal to them, they might not deny your request for fixing it (but do asked them first).
Maybe the smc updater for macbook will do good for your macbook, it will make your fan triggered more often but in slower rpm to maintain lower working temp.
And yes, if they cannot fix something that they should fix, they should give you a replacement, but they might try it first for quite some time before they give up and give you the replacement (but I don't know if your fan whinning considered as a technical problem that need to be fix by them). Do double check with them.

Wireless RF Site Survey Tools: Do you have a preference?

Our customers are asking us with greater frequency to work with them on deploying high performance wireless networks that are secure, reliable and support end-to-end QOS. We recognize to do that professionally requires great site survey RF tools.
We are considering AirMagnet's "Survey Pro" with their integrated "Spectrum Analyzer." We would run them on a Lenovo 802.11abg PC.
However we have seen some discussion on here regarding Cognio's Spectrum Analyzer and we have also found the Exahau "Site Survey" software product will speak with a Fluke 802.11 radio.
We are looking at investing in a tool set for our Wireless practice and we want to ask you what are your favorite site survey and spectrum analyzer tools? Thanks for taking the time to respond!

Apart from all the features Sales folks pitch about from both these companies the intuitiveness (ease of use) and accuracy make a lot of difference.
I would suggest getting trial copies of both of these tools and using them in the field before making a final investment.
Personally I have used AirMagnet Spectrum Analyzer (a separate product) and has been impressed by it. It comes in both laptop as well as handheld formats.
For site surveys I have used Wireless Valley which is also very impressive.

I've been using LR since 1.0 and never encountered this issue until today. The above procedure for creating a new Preview Cache folder and preview files should fix the issue.

How do you transfer Creative Cloud (Light Room & Photo Shop) from your old Desk top to a new desk top

I have just got a new desk top and I am trying to work out how to get The creative Cloud programs I use (light Room and Photo Shop) off my old Desk top and onto the new desktop. Does any one know how to do this or have already done it, or do you have to cancel the subscription on the old PC and start a new subscription for the new PC.

You do not need to cancel the subscription. You can simply follow the article: Creative Cloud Help | Download, install, update, or uninstall apps which will help you to install the Adobe CC application on your new PC.
If possible you can also deactivate the license from your previous computer using the article: Activation & Deactivation Help.

Sorry to say it, but I think you can see from Bob's response that there's no way to solve this rapidly.
Did you take an image of your Mountain Lion install before upgrading to Yosemite? Roll back to that. If you're not in the habit of taking a snapshot of your system before performing operating system upgrades - get in that habit. If you are dependent on anything at all on hour computer, having a reliable backup method in place is essential. If you don't have a Time Capsule, or some other way to run Time Machine onto a disk that's not in your computer, go set that up yesterday.
If you can't just remove Yosemite and roll back to Mountain Lion for whatever reason, you can partition your drive so that you can install both Yosemite and Mountain Lion on the same drive, and then boot into Mountain Lion when you need to work in CS5. Or you can take your Mountain Lion disc (I assume you have one, no?) and then use it to create a virtual machine in something like VirtualBox to run Mountain Lion from inside Yosemite.

Thank you for your prompt reply. Unfortunately I am not that tech oriented and
cannot easily find that folder. I did notice when I was booting up the LR software
that I could accept the site where LR usually is set up or choose a place. I am
thinking that the standard location for LR software is corrupted and that if I
chose a different place it would work. I say this because whether I use my
original disc or download from adobe I get the same warning. I have 100GB of
memory on the hard drive and I have cleaned the computer with Mcaffee and free
software. What should I do next? I can't use this software and I doubt LR 5
would open up with my current problem.

Have light room 5 .....maps only show yellow and red photo tags the map it self struggles to load and in most cases wont load at all

There's no limit that I know of, I can certainly place all of my photos on my map (and I have about 18000 geotagged photos), but the speed of your CPU will certainly make a difference, maybe memory too (how much memory do you have?)

Adobe does not market old version of their products the old downloads are available mostly for old licences users so they can download their licenced products should they need to. So if you do not have a licence for Lightroom 3.6 after your 30 days trial install expires you can not use it or purchase a licence.
It would be a good Idea for you to get a new computer with Windows 7 or 8 on it. I prefer Windows 7. If you are still running XP though its a good OS and runs on old Hardware that Windows 7 and 8 can not run on. Its best to turn those old tired machines into network print servers and have nothing of value on them. For Windows XP is no longer supported by Microsoft and security holes that are still in XP will not being plugged. You just inviting the waiting intruders in they will show up it you connect to the web and uses it.
If you are using old hardware for a modest price you can get a new machine that is more powerful then the one you using. With wireless devices it nice to have a network printer your current machine will be of no value to anyone. If you hate the idea on scrapping a working machine a print server may be the was to go IMO.
If you purchased a Photographer CC subscription you can install the subscription Photoshop CS6 version 13.1.2 that should run on XP with some newer PS features unavailable like 3D any feature the requires a GPU. CS6 does not support any GPU on Windows XP. You can do all that LR can do to images and more with Photoshop. I do not even download Lightroon. I don't need its library system or desire a second UI over the Adobe RAW conversion Engine. This save disk space and I don't have to maintain and additional Adobe product and a simpler work-flow.
Besides CS6 you can install LR 4.4 I do not use LR so I have no ides if it will run on XP. XP not listed in LR 4.4 requirement.

In light room 5 under camera calibration the only option I have is adobe standard. Nothing else.

I have seen the tutorial that shows different models of cameras coming up under camera calibration in light room 5. The only option I get for my sony cameras is Adobe standard. Is there some setup procedure that I have missed

There may be only one profile depending on which camera you have. Multiple profiles are only available on some camera.

I have just bought all this adobe stuff, bought light room 5 after I entered my serial number, it said I need the previous number. i don't have one??

If you buy an Upgrade you will need to have a previous version of Lightroom ... a Full version doesn't need a previous serial number.
Did you buy and "Upgrade" or "Full" version?
If you wanted full but bought an upgrade you will need to contact Adobe customer support.

No, but if you really mean that the way you said it, I don't know that Print is the best way to this. If you haven't already, after selecting the images you want to get printed, try clicking the Export button in Book or Library module and then selecting format .PDF. Once you export the file to .PDF, try opening it where you saved it and printing from there, not in Lightroom but in Adobe Reader. If that doesn't help, here are a couple of videos that might--follow their instructions carefully with no shortcuts:

If Lightroom keeps closing even when you try all this, you may need to reinstall Lightroom because your copy may be screwed up.
