Aperture photo adjustments have disappeared

Running Aperture 3.6 on a MBPr 10.10.2.
For some inexplicable reason some photos in an Aperture project seem to be missing all adjustments/edits I have done. What's even more weird is that these adjustments are still visible in "Browser" view mode but not in viewer mode. For instance some my black & white images appear B&W in browser view until I click on the image. Then for a brief moment, the B&W (edited image) gets loaded (and shows as B&W) but quickly reverts back to its original state, sans edits. Exiting this viewing mode back to "Browser", I can see the edited image again .
I've tried exporting the an image (version) to the desktop only to find the original image was exported.
I've tried repairing permissions and repairing the database for Aperture (command-option when starting the app). Nothing. Any suggestions on what the issue is or how to correct it (short of editing all the affected images I mean)?
Cheers,
Mark

Problem began I think, once I moved the photos over to a new project (maybe a week or so ago). I had some difficulty doing moving them and had to do it several times as some of the photos remained while others got moved. I know there were some duplicates in there that were created when editing originally. I was finally able to get them all moved. I believe it this problem only affects the photos that were moved. So my guess is something happened during the move and all edits were lost.
I just tried to rebuild the thumbnails as you suggested but all that did was remove the edit from the thumbnail in browser view. When I click on a photo it still opens with the edit present but after about 1 second or so the edit disappears. If I go back out to browser view and back in, the edit is no longer there. If I close Aperture and reopen it, the edit is gone (from the thumbnail in browser view - for the photos that had the thumbnail rebuilt) but again, when I click on the photo, it shows up for a brief moment before disappearing. The edit tag continues to be absent.
I haven't had a chance to check out the TM backup but I know I have added other photos to Aperture since then and have also edited them. So I might either export these new photos or try to copy out the affected photos from TM and just import them.
Cheers

  • Since iso8.2 update camera roll and photo stream have disappeared from my iPad

Since the ISO8.2 update the camera roll and photo stream have disappeared from my photos app on my iPad 2 anyone else suffered the same problem and how do I get them back?

    Hey carolfromdaventry,
Thanks for the question. The following resource provides some great information any questions you might have about Photos after updating to iOS 8:
Get help finding your Photos in iOS 8
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT6464
Where can I find the Camera Roll?
The Photos app in iOS 8 doesn't separate photos and videos based on how they were added to your device. Instead of a Camera Roll, your photos and videos (even ones that you didn't take with or save to your device) are organized by date in Photos.
Where can I find the My Photo Stream album?
In iOS 8, there's no longer a separate My Photo Stream album. Instead, photos that were in the My Photo Stream album are now in the Recently Added album.
    Thanks,
    Matt M.

  • How can I find photos that have disappeared in i-photo?

A lot of my photos in i-photo have disappeared, I found them in picasa where I don't want them..How can I get them back to i-photo?
    Can somebody help me?
    Kinni44

With that amount of information, no.
Before anyone can help, they need information to work with. Basic stuff:
    - What version of iPhoto.
    - What version of the Operating System.
    - Details. What were you doing when the problem arose?
    - Did it ever work properly?
    - Are there error messages?
    - What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.
Anything else you can think of that might allow someone else to understand your issue.
With this kind of information somebody can develop a starting point for troubleshooting the issue.

  • How can i retreive photos that have disappeared in bridge?

i just started using bridge. yesterday i filled it with photos from my photos file.  i stacked the photos to concentrate and make it easier to find the one i want.
today i opened the bridge program and all of the photos have disappeared.  how can i get them to show up again on bridge? what did i do wrong?

i figured that out - but now i can't yet figure out how to move photos from "my photos file" on my computer to adobe bridge.  it must be so simple that i can't see how it is done.  lots of stuff available about how to move from a camera or from picasa - but how to just move from regular microsoft files to adobe bridge.

  • Is there a way to recover photos that have disappeared during download?

Yesterday on iPhoto, I watched the download of over 800 shots from my Nikon d5100.  I had some great shots of baby deer, vultures sunning themselves and osprey fishing.  After it finished, as usual I clicked 'delete photos' (I now know to never do that again).  After waiting a long time it was still 'finishing import', but seemed frozen with the 'spinning wheel of death' on my computer screen. I force quit iPhoto, turned off & unplugged my camera.  2nd try same thing, but it then said importing about 500 photos. At the end it froze again, so I repeated my force quit. Third try it said importing 142 photos and actually finished the import. Usually it will say 'found xxx photos that need to finish importing’ & that's when the rest of my images usually show up but not this time. Only 13 photos showed up.
I've searched my back ups, tried ‘rebuilding’ my small thumbnails, library database & ‘recover orphaned photos’; after chasing down google searches on recovering photos and reading everything I could find here that sounded similar. I keep thinking they must be on my computer somewhere because I went from 32gb available to 10gb. That usually happens with 1k photos, not 150.
    Mac osX version 10.9.3 Maverick

    Thanks for any help offered!

Not technically inclined it took me an hour to post this question and it still says Leopard, Mac osx 10.5.4 under my thanks. I have Maverick now, but couldn't find how to change that, sorry!!

  • Photos in shared photo stream have disappeared

I have several shared photo streams. Following the last update to iPhoto, some are just fine but others display a photo count which is very different than the number of photos which now appear to be there. The count is what should actually be visible - for instance, one displays a count of 76 photos, which is what should be there and which used to be viewable. However, only 10 appear now. This is not a refresh or network latency issue. Has anyone else run into this in iPhoto and, most importantly, how do I fix it?

There might be a few questions to work through to find a solution...
My first question would be this... please advise whether yo uback up your iPhone, and if you do, is this to iCloud or to an Apple computer?

  • Iphoto/library... my photo's have disappeared, but i see my complete file in my screen saver

My complete file in in my screen saver but I don't know how to get them back into iphoto.
when I open i photo it says that it may be in use somewhere else..
which must be my screen saver...
how can I get them back?
I did try to rebuild and I have shut down and re-started and I can't find them in my time machine.

Your screensaver uses cached material and there is no way to recover photos from that.

Posts that consist of "iPhoto doesn't work. Help" or "iPhoto won't print" or "Suddenly I have no photos!!!!!!!!!!" mean that any helper is simply guessing. • Since downloading Firefox, my photo's have disappeared and replaced by numbers - How can I get the pictures back

I was having trouble with downloads on Ebay using Internet Explorer. They recommended Firefox. And it worked better. However, under My Pictures, the actual pictures disappeared and were replaced with the numbers only. I makes it difficult to remember which picture is which when you wish to download 50 or more items. I would like to have the actual pictures back rather than just the numbers. In fact, I do not have the pictures appearing that I use for Ebay. Thank you.

If images are missing then check that you aren't blocking images from some domains.
*Press the F10 key or tap the Alt key to bring up the hidden "Menu Bar" temporarily.
*Check the permissions for the domain in the currently selected tab in "Tools > Page Info > Permissions"
*Check "Tools > Page Info > Media" for blocked images
*Select the first image link and use the cursor Down key to scroll through the list.
*If an image in the list is grayed and "<i>Block Images from...</i>" has a check-mark then remove this check-mark to unblock images from this domain.
Make sure that you do not block (third-party) images, the permissions.default.image pref on the <b>about:config</b> page should be 1.
Make sure that you haven't enabled a High Contrast theme in the Windows/Mac Accessibility settings.
Make sure that you allow pages to choose their own colors.
*Tools > Options > Content : Fonts & Colors > Colors : [X] "Allow pages to choose their own colors, instead of my selections above"
Note that these settings affect background images.

  • Photo Projects in Aperture Have Disappeared after upgrading to Aperture 3.2.1

I am running Aperture 3.2.1 on a MacBookPro 2.66 GHz Intel Core i7 and 4GB RAM. The machine was purchased in November 2010. I have no idea what has caused this and can only guess that it was caused by the software update. I can only view 1 album that had about 12 photos and now only has 3.
I had also created several smart albums that have disappeared.
I have never been able to figure out a similar problem of projects disappearing on my G5 mac using Aperture 1.5. However, in the case of the G5, I can still see the photos in the library but not in the named project.

I can't believe the solution was that simple! I was in a different library that I may have created intially. You have saved me from dispair. Thank you.

  • Some photo's have lost brushed in adjustments

Is there a way to reserect my brished in adjustments?
The only thing I have done out of the ordinary is organise my photo's by merging projects.  Obviously, this might not be the cause of my problems.
    Symptoms:
Some images have lost their rendering of applied adjustments.
Adjustments settings are still present - however, when I ask to show colour overlays of where they're brushed in there is no overlay present i.e. Aperture appears to have forgotten the brushed in overlays I've added.
Images show the correct output within the preview image.
The main image has the correct output when first opened, but changes to remove adjustments once fully loaded.  Probably because it is initially showing the saved preview image.
Preferences | Desktop & Screen Saver no longer list the Aperture Library for me to select an aperture image.  This was working a few weeks ago.
Here's what I've tried so far...
Aperture | Preferences | Preview set 'Share preview with iLife and iWorks' set to Always.
Used DiskUtilities to check permissions - everything was reported as being fine.
Selected images displaying problems and asked Aperture to Reprocess from Master - Aperture says that the images don't need reprocessing.

    Okay...
I can narrow this down a little.
All photo's prior to Christmas are suffering the problem.  All photo's during and after Christmas aren't.
    Problem definition:
Photo's with brushed in adjustments have lost my brush information and, therefore, not displaying any adjustment to the photo.
    Clarification:
All adjustments applied to the entire photo are present and working.
Brushed in adjustments are applied to the photo with their settings present - only the brush information missing.
If I brush in adjustments on the photo the new brush information is stored.
I guess the obvious question is...
Could I have done this using a setting within Aperture that I've applied to the Library?
If so, I need to be aware of it so as to not do it again.

I just backed up my 3gs iphone using itunes.  All my photos and contacts have disappeared from my phone.  I am unable to locate them on my computer.  HELP!!!

OK, I understand.  Try this ... it's much safer.  It will simply restore your backup, but not do anything to your iOS:
While your iPhone is plugged in to iTunes, right click on the iPhone icon on the left side of the iTunes display.
Choose "Restore from backup ..." from the pop-up menu that appears.
Again, what this will do is place that backup back on your iPhone without changing iOS.  So you should be very confident in the backup contents before doing this.

There are 9 different versions of iPhoto and they run on 9 different versions of the Operating System. The tricks and tips for dealing with issues vary depending on the version of iPhoto and the version of the OS. So to get help you need to give as much information as you can. Include things like:
    - What version of iPhoto.
    - What version of the Operating System.
    - Details. As full a description of the problem as you can. For example, if you have a problem with exporting, then explain by describing how you are trying to export, and so on.
    - History: Is this going on long? Has anything been installed or deleted? - Are there error messages?
    - What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.
    - Anything unusual about your set up? Or how you use iPhoto?
Anything else you can think of that might help someone understand the problem you have.

  • Photos and Albums have Disappeared

I appreciate that there seems to have been some problems with iPhoto 09 and Snow Leopard.
I have been successfully using iPhoto 09 since I installed Snow Leopard without any problems. I purchased Snow Leopard immediately after it was launched. I back up everything on a very regular basis to a Lacie external drive.
I recently returned from holiday and imported 377 photos from two cameras. The import also included a few small movies taken with one of the cameras. As usual the import worked perfectly. Both myself and my wife had a quick look at the photos and movies so I know I am not going mad when I say that they have disappeared! I created an event for all the photos in my iPhoto library and a separate album for all the photos and movies. I also did some general tidying up at the same time before backing up to my Lacie using Super Duper which has always worked very well.
A couple of days later when I went to look at the photos I had imported they had disappeared. And horror of horrors they are nowhere to be found on my Lacie. The various other tidying up tasks that I completed at the same time which included creating events and some new albums are also nowhere to be seen.I am completely mystified.
When I go into my Home Pictures Library and click on Originals there is no sign of the photos either. I have also tried a spotlight search with no success. The Originals file for years 2001 to 2008 show all the titles of the events I have created however the same does not apply to 2009 which simply shows a variety of different dates. I do not have any untitled folders in my iPhoto library. The following will hopefully make what I am trying to say a little clearer:
*This is an example of how my photos are listed in the Originals folder for the years 2001 to 2008:*
    California 2001
    Pat and Fred 50th
*This is how my photos are listed in the Originals folder for 2009:*

    Take That
To make matters worse I needed my SD cards and have deleted the photos from them which I hardly ever do until I am satisfied that everything is ok.
If anybody has any ideas or remedies I would be extremely grateful.

    First:
To recover the missing photos: Run file recovery app over the Camera cards - MediaRecover is one but there are many others.
The layout of the Library you describe is not unusual. This is due to a change made with iPhoto 09, where there is no longer a strict correlation between the Events in the iPhoto Window and the Folders in the Originals Folder.
Is there any chance that you have a second iPhoto Library lurking on your Mac somewhere? This can happen betimes, a common place for such a thing to be is In the Volumes Folder:
In the Finder Use the Go Menu and select 'Go To Folder'
    In the resulting Window type
    /volumes
A Finder window will open at this location. Can you see another Library there?
    Regards
