Aperture Plug-In's

Hi, I have been using Aperture 3 for almost a year now, still learning but enjoying it very much. I would like to either purchase some Plug-In Software or download it.  Something to have some fun with, with some of the photos. I don't need professional software, it's only for my own photos. There seems to be a bunch of stuff out there but iI don't know any of it and besides, it  is always better to ask the community about their experience with the software and the outcome of using it. Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Hans

The Nik suite is superb.  I'm worried you may not be asking the right question, though.
What do you want to do?  (Even "have fun" can be much more specific.)
Software is to data as shop tools are to material things: it is used to change it and to give it (a different) shape.  What changes do you want to make to your data?

  • DxO Optics Pro - Aperture plug-in?

    Hi,
The Apple list of plug-ins includes DXO Optics Pro.  I've got a trial version of v9.0 & have it running fine as a image editor.  Anyone know how to install it as a plug-in?
Have searched several places & mostly found that it does not work as a plug-in.  Also found a plug-in called Catapult that's used to shuffle finles back & forth between Aperture & DxO.  Tried dropping the application into Liobrary>Application Support>Aperture>Plug-ins but no luck.  Now I can't remove the alias out of the Library folder.
So can it really be used as a plug-in?
    Thanks much!

Here's a follow up for anyone who finds this thread in the future.  I may have answered my own question but since I'm still learning OP9, there may be another feature yet to be discovered.  Optics Pro 9 has a new feature, Export to Application, that might be stretched to consider it a plug-in.  You don't install it as a plug-in or even select it as an external editor from Aperture- it seems designed to be a stand alone preprocessor for your RAW files.
If you wish to continue using Aperture for DAM, you'd launch OP9 after importing your RAW files into Aperture.  The OP9 Organize tab shows the complete folder structure on your storage drive including all the folders w/in the Aperture container.  Folder names are the cryptic number system used by Aperture so navigating could be a challenge in a large library.  Anyway, this gives you complete access to all your original files so they can be opened in OP9 using its RAW converter for further processing.  Several of OP9 tools such as Prime noise reduction can only be applied to the original RAW file.  After processing is complete, you Export to Application & choose Aperture.  After you've chosen a file format, OP9 will place the file back into the Aperture container as an untitled project & the file will have "_openwith" at the end of the name.  Within Aperture, you can then move the file to any project or folder you wish.
This certainly makes round tripping easier but not as convent as say NIK plugins or what the plug-in Catapult apparently does - put the file back into a stack w/ the parent file.

  • Application Support-Aperture-Plug ins folder not found

I'm trying to install flash album explorer plug in. I'm trying to find Application Support-Aperture-Plug ins to innstall it but I'm not able to find it. I was searching in every library under user, system, and I haven't been able to fint it....please help!!!!!!!! I have Aperture 1.5.2
MacBook Pro   Mac OS X (10.4.8)
MacBook Pro   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

DonCarlos, you have to create the folders if you do not have them. In Finder, follow the folders up to Aperture. This is where I had to create "Plug-Ins" and then clicked on it to open. Then created its subfolder "Export". I dumped the Flickr plugin here and restarted Aperture. Works perfectly.

  • Can I switch my Aperture plug-ins to Lightroom?

    Hi all,
I've been using Aperture for about 4 years, but I think I'm going to move over to Lightroom.  Do you know if I can install my Aperture plug-ins (Photomatix, PTLens, and others) into Lightroom?  (I think not, right?  I think I'll have to re-purchase them?)
    Thank you!

You would not be able to install them in LR, but you may not need to re-purchase them. You'll have to look at each plug-in's licence to be sure.

  • Animated GIFs in Aperture plug-in?

I have searched already but the closest thing I found was an article dating back to 2010, which nobody replied to. I like GIFs and I like animated GIFs, I think it's a guilty secret/passion for a lot more than people realise (maybe even aPNG too??) so why doens't Aperture support them, well, who knows, but surely there should be a plug-in for it?
    If so, does anybody know?
    Thanks.

*note: once PDFs are imported their subsequent pages cannot be viewed, which is a similar issue
Not true if you drag a pdf file onto the Aperture icon you will be presented with this window
If you convert the PDF doc into JPG (or TIFF) you'll get one image per page. If you keep it as a PDF then you are limited to seeing the first page (though the entire document is in Aperture).

  • Aperture Plug-ins

    Hi there!
Running the latest version of Aperture under Mountain Lion.
Whenever I go to edit a file in Aperture using 'edit with plug-ins' I see a whole load of old plug-in names which I'm sure I've binned ages ago.
Is there anyway I can go through and delete the names?
For example, I bought the new Nik suite from Google recently. Installed. Working brilliantly. I deleted the old Nik suite yet in still shows up in the menu under 'edit with plug-ins'.
    Help much appreciated!
    Regards!
    Mark.

Computer library solved the problem. I just remembered. Looking in the other library!
    But thanks for replying!
    Cheers!
    M.

  • Aperture Plug-in missing

Thinking about moving from Aperture to Lightroom
    1) I installed the trial version using the CC app on my Mac = plug-in menu blank.
    2) Uninstall, reboot, re-install = same result
    3) repeated 1 & 2 on another Mac = same result
    4) Took a flyer and signed up for monthly sub (in case that made a difference) = still no plug-ins

Thanks Rikk, that set me on the right track.
In case anyone else makes the same mistake: I was looking at the "Plug-in extras" item Library menu rather the "Plug-in extras" option under File.
    Wrong:
    Right:

  • New Aperture Plug-Ins Available

I saw an announcement about Human Software's Edit for Aperture 2.1 consisting of 12 modules. Any recommendations or experience with this product? Believe they already provide similar if not identical plug-ins for Photoshop. It sounds like a lot of capability.

  • Add/delete aperture plug-ins?

I installed a plug-in called Border FX, so I could type text onto a photo; but it doesn't work, so I would like to delete it but can't find way to do that.
    Anyone know how?
Also -- any good plug-ins for this?

    To answer your questions:
    1. I got Border FX from it's site, latest version
    2. Tried it again. It still doesn't work
    3. I'm not interested in seeing if your claims are backed up but perhaps you might want to add my data to your track record info.
    4. What program? It was a toss up between latest Photoshop and Painter 12 -- I had an old, old Photoshop that was quite suitable for me but now no longer works under Mac OS 10.7/Lion. I got Painter 12. It meets my core needs (adding text, having layers) and opens up some fun directions I've been interested in. I'll add, though, that it crashes now and then and I hope/expect they will deal with that. If I was in a more pressured business situation I'd recommend Photoshop.

  • Does Lightroom 5.7 have an updated Aperture import plug-in?

The current version of the plug-in is stated as 1.0.1, but is actually 1.0.9xxxxxx.  Lightroom 5.7 contains the Aperture Plug-in.  Does anyone know if Lightroom 5.7 have a newer plugin?
I'm new to Creative Cloud and wonder how this will work.  Will the plug-in be updated independently of Lightroom, or will it only be updated with each 0.1 release of Lightroom?  The Aperture plug-in still had some issues, and am wondering how to evaluate as time goes along.

The plug-in included in Lightroom 5.7  was NOT updated.
Anyone know how Adobe might keep the plug-in updated over time?

  • How to install Impression plug in to aperture 3?

I just paid for impression plug in out of the app store. I need help installing it in my aperture 3.

  • Using FlashAlbumExporter plug-in with trial version of Aperture 2.1

I have aperture 1.5 and am thinking about upgrading.
One of the features I am looking for is more variety and control in web gallery generation from Aperture.
With this in mind I wanted to play with FlashAlbumExporter.
I downloaded the installer file and opened it but that is where I am hitting a wall.
I go to click the file (FlashAlbumExporter.ApertureExport) and it opens the trial version of Aperture 2.1 but I never see Flash Album Exporter as an export option after I have selected photos, projects, web pages, or anything else I could think of.
It simply doesn't install. What am I doing wrong?

Place the plugin bundle, FlashAlbumexporter.ApertureExport, in your Aperture Export plugin directory (Users -> "your user name" -> Library -> Application Support -> Aperture -> Plug-Ins -> Export).
NOTE: If this is your first Aperture plug-in, the folders Plug-Ins and Export may not exist. In this case just create them first.
