Aperture printed book in pdf (mail) won't load in iPad2

Any one has an idea how to convert a book printed from Aperture to a pdf (mail) format so it will load in iPad
The file resulting from my book of 100 pages was 541MB an it can be seen with Adobe Reader but when loaded to iPad goinf through  the recommended method of dropping it in iTuene and sync it with the iPad.
Just loads the cover and 100 blank pages. If I open it it freezes the iPas and crash the app.
Is there an application that can make smaller files from exiisting odf files?

Edlatour-
I just realized there was a step left out.  When you get to the Print window, first check "Selected Images in Sidebar" under Pages. Otherwise I think you just get another copy like the original.
The revised process:
Open the PDF in Preview.  Under View, be sure Thumbnails is checked, so you can see all pages next to the one you are reading.  Click on the first page thumbnail.  Under Edit, Select All.  Under File, select Print.  In the Print window, check "Selected Images in Sidebar" under Pages.  Then select PDF-Save as PDF, and give it a new name.
This is a handy way to make a PDF out of several individual files.  Open one in Preview and check View-Thumbnails.  Then one-by-one, drag each file into the Thumbnail sidebar.  Drag them into the order you want.  Under Edit, Select All, et cetera.  It is possible to mix file types as long as each is compatible with Preview.

  • Updated osx and now mail won't load

    Hi all,
I've updated my operating system so that I could go on to upgrade to Lion, but in the interim my mail won't load - its telling me "an error occured while importing.  Make sure you have available space in your home folder and try again"...I can't even locate my "home" folder on my system...
Any ideas how I can fix this?  And will upgrading to Lion without the mail box being fixed perhaps fix it?

Sounds like something went pear-shaped somewhere along the line. I suggest reinstalling like this:
    * Go to [http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/fx/?ref=logo Download Firefox 4.0] and download a fresh installation file to the desktop.
    * Then go to Add/Remove Programs, scroll down to Mozilla Firefox and remove it, choosing to keep your bookmarks, customizations etc., (don't checkmark the box).
    * Then reboot and delete the folder called Mozilla Firefox at this location: C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
    * Finally run the installation file you downloaded.
After you complete the installation, go to the [http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/plugincheck/ Plugins Check] page and update those if necessary.

  • App store won't load On ipad2

App store won't load properly on either mine or wife's ipad2. The featured window just keeps spinning with no image of apps. Ideas anyone?

I had this issue as well.  Turns out I have two different apple IDs (I inadvertently added a new one because iCloud requires one with email address format and I picked a different email address than my original one was associated with).  By lchanging which AppleID I used for App Store (in settings), the App Store once again loaded fine.   Apple needs to provide a way for customers to merge AppleID accounts as this can be confusing.

  • Apps won't load on ipad2

I have an IPad2 trying to download a free solitaire game...It just sits on my iPad in a darkened mode and won't load. Even when I connect it up to iTunes on my iMac..the little app icon is darkened and sits in loading mode..Although occasionally a message comes up and tells us that over 20mb can't load unless you use WiFi or connect to iTunes...We've done that and still nothing. Please help!

Have you tried a reset to see if the app resumes loading after the iPad has restarted ? Press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.
An alternative is to try downloading it to your computer's iTunes and then sync/drag it across to the iPad.

  • Print book to PDF with 8 by 11 and 11 by 17 pages in same book?

    Hello,
I am using FrameMaker 8 (Structured Mode) and am trying to generate
a PDF with both 8 1/2 by 11 and 11 by 17 pages in the same book.
The 8 1/2 by 11 inch pages work good, but the 11 by 17 inch pages are generating as 11 by 8 1/2 (landscape view).
Is there an easy way to get my foldout drawings to come into my book (with the correct dimensions, when there are also 8 1/2 by 11 inch pages in the same book?
    Thanks in advance.
    Jim

    James,
When you generate the book, you must select the largest sheet size
used in the book, i.e. 11x17. FM then outputs the all of the pages
centred on this sheet and if using SaveAsPDF (or enabling Generate
Acrobat Data when printing), will automatically crop the pages to the
    appropriate size(s).

  • Printing books to PDF

I make InDesign CS3 books because it is more convenient and faster to create PDF files from a book than from indidivual documents.
Is it possible in the Export Adobe PDF dialog, under Marks and Bleeds, to add Page Information to each individual document in a book when exporting to PDF from a Book?

Since you are using CS3, you can define a text variable in each document (or do it in the master document, and then synchronize including text variables) which is of the "File Name" type. Then place a text frame containing that variable on the master page(s). I would suggest doing this in a slug area you define, and then making sure to turn on the "Include Slug Area" checkbox in the PDF Export dialog box.

  • PDF's won't load in Safari

So in the Leopard manual is says that PDF's will now open in Safari, and that if i hover my mouse cursor near the bottom of the screen, a series of option buttons will appear where i can download the file or open it in preview. I take this new feature to mean i don't need adobe acrobat to view PDF files online. However, when i click on a PDF file in a website, it automatically downloads it to my downloads folder without opening it in Safari. How do I make Safari open the PDF file in a safari window like the manual says it should?

    Hi
My name is Diethard and I am a recent switcher from PC to Mac, living in Switzerland. I have found an article in the forum, where you helped someone on the problem with Adobe Acrobat Reader.
I have made the "mistake" to install the Acrobat Reader ... and then decided that I prefer to view pdf files through the Preview-function of Leopard. I have managed to get the Preview to be the pdf view for pdf files from the HD. But in Safari I am confronted with the problem, that the click on the pdf icon opens a window, which is then searching for the Acrobat pdf view - which is deinstalled already.
From the article I saw that you proposed to the other person that one should make sure that the library is free of any plug-ins. I have checked this and can confirm that the library folder Internet/Plug-Ins is empty (well, I don't know whether there are "hidden" files, like under Windows). However, when I am opening Safari and look at the menu Help/Installed Plug-ins, I find on top of all other plug-ins a list of plug-ins of Adobe Acrobat (I have copied the list at the end of this mail). But I don't know where I can find them, whether I can de-insatll them without creating a problem.
I also tried the other proposal from the same mail string (write a code into the Konsole), but also that did not prevent Safari to open the acrobat pdf viewer window and then search for the (no longer) existing Acrobat 8.0 ...
Any idea how I could get this solved and back to pure Leopard pdf viewing? Maybe I need to mention that I also have Adobe Photoshop on my PC. Thus I can not just delete anything with Adobe in the name ...
    Thank you in advance
    Diethard

  • Mail Won't load messages for viewing

All of a sudden my email messages will not show. I checked with the connection doctor, everything is fine. As I "Get New Mail From Mailbox" it shows 128 messages but doesn't download them for viewing. If I "get account info" on the mailbox in question it shows all the new messages on the server, but still won't get them loaded on the viewer. I've deleted the mailbox and reconfigured from scratch...still nothing. Help

Have you tried rebuilding the mailbox? Select the account in your Inbox, then choose Mailbox > Rebuild and wait for it to finish. Then restart Mail and see if the problem continues.

  • Since updating safari, it scrambles pdfs and won't load them in preview

since the last update of Safari, I cannot open any pdfs in either preview or adobe reader (I prefer preview).  it will however open photos if I click on them (and opens them in preview).  what I get when I click on something to open - or sometimes even a link, is a page of gibberish. Help!

    Back up all data.
If Adobe Reader or Acrobat is installed, there should be a setting in its preferences such as Display PDF in Browser. I don't use those applications myself, so I can't be more precise. Deselect that setting, if it's selected. Otherwise do as follows.
Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it, the copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C:
    /Library/Internet Plug-ins
    In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder
from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-G. Paste into the text box that opens (command-V), then press return.
From the folder that opens, remove any items that have "Adobe" or “PDF” in the name. You may be prompted for your login password. Then quit and relaunch Safari, and test.
The "Silverlight" web plugin distributed by Microsoft can also interfere with PDF display in Safari, so you may need to remove it as well, if it's present. The same goes for a plugin called "iGetter," and perhaps others.
If you still have the issue, repeat with this line:
    ~/Library/Internet Plug-ins
If you don’t like the results of this procedure, restore the items from the backup you made before you started. Relaunch Safari again.
