Aperture Printing Problem--Rolls only

I accidentally posted this in book printing... So I'm reposting
I'm trying to print to my Epson 7600 with Aperture and there doesn't seem to be a way in Aperture to choose sheets rather than rolls. This has happened since I upgraded to Leopard. I'm exporting and printing for now in Photoshop, where I have the option of choosing sheets.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance,
Roy

Ed,
I did update the driver. I was surprised it worked as well as it did, just not with Aperture. I have a 2200 as well, but haven't tackled that one yet. Things in the drivers have moved around a bit, but I think I've looked everywhere I can look in Aperture to find a sheet option rather than rolls.
Does Aperture allow you to choose both sheet and rolls on the 2200 driver?
Thanks,
Roy

  • Aperture printing problem

I have an epson cx2400 which doesnt come with icc profiles (Just a generic profile) so I struggled to get decent prints until discovered that letting the printer manage the process in lightroom gives good results. But, I would like to use Aperture 2 as my preferred software and when I set the print settings to "system managed " and set the same printer driver settings as in lightroom my prints are light and washed out. Any ideas ? (raising the gamma in the aperture print settings area to 1.2 [as I have seen suggested in some forums] doesn't help)

    I also have the 2400.
Here are a few settings to make sure you check:
under Printer Selection, Choose Printer Settings:
Print Settings: Media Type (I use Premium Luster Photo Paper), Mode (Use Advanced), Print Quality: (Photo RPM - deselect High Speed)
Color Management: Turn OFF (No Color Adjustment)
    and Save.
Pick the Correct Color Profile under Colorsync Profile, and you should be set.

  • Canon MG6220 wierd zooming/cropping printing problem, only when printing with Windows XP?

The printer in question is a Canon Pixma MG6220, connected to a WindowsXP printer.  I've printed this same document on a Brother laser printer, that is connected to the same computer, and it prints correctly.  I've printed this same document on a Epson inkjet printer, and it prints correctly.  I've printed this same document at Staples, on one of their big laser printers, and it prints correctly.  So, this printing problem is only occurring with this Canon printer. One other thing that may help you with this, is that last night I moved this Canon printer to another computer, except this one had Windows 7 on it, and it printed flawlessly!  So, it seems that it may have something to do with Windows XP printer driver.
I'm printing a one page document from Word 2002 which consists of about 10 pictures, no text.  All the pictures on the page are the same height but a different width.  When I print the document, some of the pictures print correctly and some of them do not.
Essentially, what is happening is that some pictures are zoomed in about 50%, yet still print in the same area that is set in the document.  So, the image looks like it has been rudely cropped.
The oddest thing is that this only happens to some of the pictures.  There is nothing special about these pictures.  The pictures that print correctly are from the same source as the ones that don't print correctly. I’ve done other Word documents like this, with the same format but different pictures, and they printed wrong too, some pictures correct and some zoomed/cropped.
Here is a summary of the pictures from the files I attached,  and which ones  printed correctly, and which did not:  The first one is a screen capture of the Word document, and the other is a scan of the printed document.
    Row 1
        Pic 1 – error (zoomed/cropped), Pic 2 – error, Pic 3 – correct, Pic 4 – error
    Row 2
        Pic 1 – correct, Pic 2 – correct, Pic 3 – correct
    Row 3
        Pic 1 – error, Pic 2 – error, Pic 3 – correct, Pic 4 – error
    Row 4
        Pic 1 – error, Pic 2 – error, Pic 3 – correct
One observation of the incorrectly printed pictures, is that the upper left corners appear unaffected.  It is the lower right corners that get the weird zooming/cropping effect.

Urgently restore a backup of the registry.
Urgently do not use the word 'urgently' in a forum of volunteers.
Also it can not be urgent, as Forms 4.5 dates from the Flintstone age, and probably isn't even certified on XP.
However, the error message is very clear: Apparently Forms 4.5 uses the registry to store printer info: you need to get that entry back. That kind of info is usually documented. Documentation is likely still online.

  • Printing in Pink only

have hp deskjet 722c & prints in pink only. how do i fix? have repaced with new cart.

So, if I understand correctly, both the old color cartridge and the new color cartridge have the same printing problem - it only prints pink (magenta).  If this is the case then you might try and clean the color cartridge electrical contacts in the printer.  Please reference the section on Cleaning the electrical contacts inside the carriage assembly .
If the old color cartridge and the new color cartridge behaved differently, you might try the soaking method described in the previous reply (note that while the discussion was on the black cartridge, it also applies to color).
And be sure the cartridge is fully seated.

  • Borderless printing problems - Aperture 2.1/Canon Pro9000 II

Problem: photos don't print borderless. I have selected the appropriate paper from the "paper size" dialog (in my case, "4x6 borderless"). Things used to behave nicely but something has changed after Snow Leopard. The "calibrate" settings do not solve the problem. The border appears only on two edges of the print and the calibrate settings can't move it back. Other software (Preview, Photoshop, etc.) print borderless without issue. Anyone else out there having a similar issue?
    Aperture 2.1.4
    OS 10.6.1
Canon Pro9000 II, CUPS driver 10.26.0.0
Thanks in advance for any ideas!

I also have struggled with the borderless printing problem. Tried calibration has some unpredictable results. Tried preview, pretty much the same problem. Spent much time, ink and paper to come up with a solution I can live with. I accidentally printed a borderless 4x6 that actually had a 1/8 inch white border all the way around, not the borderless print i had intended but one that i can live with until there is a SL fix or a Aperture fix... I am just waiting. This is just one of many print problems since installing SL.

  • Leopard printing problems on several printers (Am I the only one?)

Since installing Leopard shortly after it was released, I've had flakiness with printing:
    - With Tiger, when I printed, I could open the printer's window, and see the print job queued. The job would finish, disappear from the window, and everything would be fine.
    - When the job was printing, the printer icon would appear in the Dock. When the job was done, the icon would disappear from the Dock. Simple.
With Leopard, printing has worked, but I have never seen a print job appear in a PrinterProxy window. I print, the printer outputs the job, and PrinterProxy is always blank. The printer icon appears in the Dock, and stays there forever. I found that I could ctrl-click on the icon and select the Auto Quit option (Hooray!), but that only worked for a while. Then the icons started staying in the Dock again. When I click on the Dock, there is no more Auto Quit option... just the "Application Not Responding" message. I have to force quit Printer Proxy after every time I print.
What's stranger is how long it takes for the PrinterProxy app to start up. The icon in the Dock bounces for well over a minute. Sometimes, the job finishes printing before the app is launched. If I switch between apps using Cmd-Tab, I can select the PrinterProxy app, but it never actually displays; instead, I just revert to the current window.
This is true for every printer I use, and as a traveling consultant, I use several. It is true whether I am printing via Airport, or over a direct Internet or USB connection.
The printers that are permanently in my Printer List are:
    Canon i9100
    Brother MFC-8840
    Epson Stylus Photo 220
    HP LaserJet 1320N
    HP LaserJet 8800
    HP LaserJet 6570
    HP Color LaserJet 5550
    Adobe PDF 8.0
All of these have the same problems. What's worse is, when I have a printing problem, there is no way to diagnose it, since the print jobs never show up in the PrinterProxy.
I have reset my printing system many times. I have deleted and re-added my printers many times. I have downloaded drivers from the manufacturer's sites, and reinstalled Leopard's default drivers. Nothing makes a difference. Strangely, after updating to 10.5.2, the Auto Quit problem went away for awhile, then returned spontaneously.
At the thread below, I show some of my system and crash logs from a prior discussion. Someone was helping me with the problem, but after asking me to post my logs, he seems to have dropped off the thread.
    http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=7013209#7013209
I can't believe this problem is endemic to Leopard. I know many people who seem to use Leopard without any problems at all. (They even print once in a while!) And yet, as a fairly advanced user, I can't believe I'm the only one having this problem! My system is pretty plain vanilla, with no weird mods, hacks or apps. Pretty much just straightforward creative and productivity apps. I use it daily for business, so I try to keep all wacky stuff off of it.
There must be a solution, short of doing a clean install. Can anyone help? Are there PrinterProxy-related files I can delete when I reset the Printer System that might help resolve this? Prefs?
    Thanks,
    David

I'm having exactly the same problem with a Lexmark C760.
When I inspect the Activity Monitor while opening the Printer Icon from the Dock (or press the Button "Open Print Queue" in the "Print & Fax" System Preferences), I can see the Printer Icon as "Printer Proxy (Not Responding)" marked in red in the processes list. The Dock icon bounces for quite a while, and after about 2 minutes, a Printer List actually appears under the PrinterProxy application and the process in Activity Monitor changes its name to "(null)" and its color to black.
Though there is no entry in the PrinterProxy list when I print something from another application while keeping the window open, I can select "Supply Levels" and the correct information appears, so it seems to be functional.
It also seems that there are several copies of the drivers remaining, as the application in the Dock is named "Lexmark C760 (4)", probably from my attempts to remove and reinstall the driver. Is there some interference with old installations of the drivers that still lurk somewhere, hidden in the depth of the many libraries? How can I get rid of the previously installed drivers for good?

  • Printer problem Photosmart 5512- will only print colors

Hi.  My HP Photosmart 5512 will print only the colors, not black.  I've installed a new cartridge (old one ran out) and it still won't print in black, only in the colors.  I've done everything I can think of, taken it in and out several times, checked to make sure it looked just like the old one, ink stains a tissue when I touch the "hole", turned it on and off.   ???  Why is this happening?  The printer is only about a year old and I've installed several black cartridges before with no problems.  Please help and thanks.

    Hi reloading1
I understand you changed the black cartridge and can't  print in black.
I have included a document for checking the ink levels, making sure the vents aren't clogged and how to clean the printhead. The printhead is permanent on this model.
This document provides how to manually clean the cartridge contacts. Click Here.
Print a diagnostics page by going to Solution six: Print and evaluate a Print Quality Diagnostic Report to see if it will print in black. Follow the full document also.
Are you using Genuine HP Cartridges?
Check the date on the cartridges to make sure they are still in warranty. (not old stock)
    What are the ink levels?
Did this issue occur before installing the new cartridges?

  • Printing problems Desket 3520 - says i can only print from apps

    So frustrating.
Since upgrading to Window 8.1 I have nothing but print problems, despite unistalling and reinstalling. Now when I try to print, when I click on the print icon (that comes up from the swipe side bar) i get a message saying I can only print from apps. So I have been unable to print word docs etc of any kind. The printer works fine from my iphone and ipad and the laptop can see the printer wirelessly and connects to it - BUT IT WONT PRINT!! I've had to resort to emailing the docs to myself to print from my ipad - ridiculous!
WHAT is happening HP? I use an HP laptop and HP printer for a REASON, compatibilty. NOT SO since the update.
Please can someone send me an easy fix for this frustrating problem. 'Ive tried everything and  I'm fairly computer savvy.
    Regards and TIA
    Lissim09

Hey there @lissim09 welcome to the forums
I am not quite sure why your Windows 8.1 is not printing to your Deskjet 3520 however, I have some ideas to try and find out and hopefully get it printing for you. The printer is working with other devices, which shows us the printer itself is alright.
Run the Print and Scan Doctor. This diagnostic tool will check for any conflicts that could be causing the issue. The tool will show you a report at the end. If there was a problem that the tool could not fix, you will notice it in the results. Please send me the results.
Also try a Clean Boot, restart the PC and try a print again. This will turn off all start up programs running on your PC, in the case there is something running that is blocking the printer from printing, this should bypass it. Also disable your firewall temporarily.
Try printing from two programs afterwards.
Also include how you have the printer connected to the PC (wireless, ethernet, usb).
    Thank you

  • Printing problem when PDF is sent to the printer with certain fonts - missing text

I'm running into a printing problem when PDFs containing certain characters of the Calibri font are used.  The text in large sections of the PDF is missing on the paper version, but the text is there on the screen.  It's also happened when the PDFs we created were e-mailed out to a client and printed on their printer.  The problem is not present when printing directly from the programs (Microsoft Word, Excel, Visio, etc.).  I've been trying to get tech support from Adobe on this, but every time I call they apologize and say they will call back in 4-6 hours with an answer.  Same result each time, no call back.  If anyone from Adobe is listening, it's case number 184891587.  The font appears as an embedded subset when I look at the document properties.  Sometimes deleting one or two Characters allows for larger text blocks to be printed - i.e. removing a long dash in bold from the heading of a paragraph makes the paragraph reappear when printed to paper from PDF.  In all cases the PDF appears correct on the screen.  Printing as an image allows the text to appear, but the image quality isn't acceptable for small text, even at the 600 dpi setting on the printer.  If the PDF is sent out by e-mail, we do not have control over the end-user's printer setup anyway, so we need this to work in all cases.
The setup/process I'm using is as follows:
    Windows 7 Professional SP1 64-Bit
Microsoft Office 2013 - problem is present when printing documents from Word, Excel or Visio.  Even other variations on documents.
I've tried Acrobat versions 11.0.0 to 11.0.5 as well as Acrobat Pro 11.0.0 and 11.0.1.  Same Result
Printing to Adobe PDF as the printer, from the third party application
Printing to a Xerox printer from PDF using Acrobat - Text missing
Client prints to Konica printer - Text missing
I print to the wide-format Ricoh (which also does 11x17) and the text is present.
Is there something I'm missing?  Is the entire font not getting embedded into the PDF file?  I noticed that rolling back to a much older version of the Calibri font (1.02 compared to 5.72) makes the problem mostly go away, but it's not completely gone.  Is it possible the font is too large to be completely embedded?  Where can I go from here?

Success!  At least for now.  It looks like my problem was fixed with Adobe's most recent update, 11.0.06.  From the release notes:
    PDF creation
Added support for Lotus Notes 9.
Added support for WebCapture in IE 11.
Added support for conversions from AutoCAD 2013.
3652540 A blank pdf is created for files having hidden visual style.
3601108 Flow Chart converts as a multicolored square.
3654345 Word documents missing parts of images in conversion to PDF.
3654572 Temporary file size increases when creating pdf by combining multiple files into one PDF.
3670155 PDF file created with Distiller XI prints incorrectly to some printers. (Emphasis mine)
3599407 Checkbox check marks do not appear in these files.
3663233 IE Web Capture in localized OS: Icons and drop-down menu items are missing and conversion dialog is not localized.
3651931 Chrome Only: Few web pages when converted to pdf from Chrome plugin doesn’t show up the Save As dialog.
3597910 EPM Mode On: Web capture is not working on Windows 8-32 bit when cache folder is missing.
3610644 Firefox 23.0: With Firefox version 23.0 (latest), the WebCapture icon shows up very dim as if it is disabled.
3650244 ODA falis to convert DWG files to PDF for large files.
I don't know if that's definately what solved the problem, but it sure sounds similar and this is the update that made the printing problem go away.  We can't get the PDFs to fail at this point with our printers, even with Calibri 5.72.  I'll come back to thread if we have printing problems at the end-user locations.

  • Label printing problem from Business Object Infoview

    Hi,
I got a problem with printing label (roll) from Zebera Label Printer. The label is designed in CR XI which works properly printing from Crystal Report XI and Zebera printer prints labels (more then one labels) without any trouble.
But the same label (report) does not get printed with all its  pages (labels) from the same Zebera Label Printer using BO infoview. It prints only one page (1st label) and stops.
It seems that BO infoview takes all the labels converted in pdf as one page. Where I want that each label should be considered as single page.
    Any idea?

    Thanks Don
Yes the same report is published in the BOE.
From infoview, It prints on the screen eight (8) labels in two column on one A4 size page. While I want to have each label (W=3.9in x H 2.1in) as one page printed.  So that, each label can be printed as one page on label printer.
I want to print as pdf format then printing on Label Printer.
    Thanks

  • Printing Problem Solved (Temporary Work-around)

I've posted before, and others have posted here and elsewhere, about problems printing with Aperture since upgrading to Leopard. In my case, it's been with an Epson R1800.
Well, believe it or not, with the help of Epson support on the phone, I've figured this out. First of all, there is definitely a problem with Aperture's (or Leopard's) color management. What used to work (setting a color profile in the Aperture print dialog, and selecting "no color management" in the printer dialog) definitely does not work correctly at this point.
If you want color management, what you have to do is select "System Managed" in the Aperture print dialog, and select (for Epson) "Color Controls - Epson Standard" in the Epson dialog. What this does is select the standard Epson profile for the paper you have selected. For example, if you've chosen Epson Premium Glossy Photo Paper, the printer driver will use the "SPR1800 Premium Glossy" profile (Epson's standard profile for that paper, assuming you've downloaded it). Of course, that gives you Epson's version of what you want to print. If you have created your own profiles, using a spectrophotometer for example, you need to get the printer driver to apply YOUR profile instead of Epson's.
Here's how to apply your profile: Open Colorsync (in the Utilities folder), and select "Printers" in the Devices menu. Under the printer model, Stylus Photo R1800, in my case, select the profile for the paper you're interested in, say "SPR1800 Premium Glossy", and look on the right side of the window at "Current Profile:". Click the down arrow, and select "Other". Navigate to the profile you've created, and click "Open". This will set the profile you've created as what the printer driver will use when it thinks it's applying the SPR1800 Premium Glossy profile. Set other paper profiles (e.g., "SPR1800 Enhanced Matte") to whatever profile you've created for those papers.
Now, when you select "System Managed" in the Aperture dialog, and "Color Controls - Epson Standard" in the Epson dialog, it will apply your own profile.
Hopefully, Apple will fix the problem with color management, and we'll be able to go back to color management as it was before. In the meantime, this is the only work-around I've found.

I was/am totally a Mac guy, meaning my roots were System 7 based, and my knowledge of all things UNIX is being built slowly as needed in the OS X world. While I can make Photoshop & Aperture (and the GUI portions of OS X) stand on their heads and do backflips for treats I can't, with much conviction, speak on the roots of UNIX drivers. I think, and someone please correct me if I'm wrong, that Gutenprint drivers are CUPS 'compatible' drivers, but not necessarily "CUPS" drivers in that they work with other printing platforms as well. Here are some sources of info:
    http://gimp-print.sourceforge.net/
    http://www.cups.org/
The Gutenprint drivers may be the CUPS drivers for the Epson printer, I don't know for sure. On the Canon site, there are two drivers available for download for the Pro9000. One labeled standard, the other labeled CUPS. By default, when adding the printer, my system uses the CUPS driver. I can actually have the Pro9000 added twice, once with the CUPS driver, once with the standard driver. I spoke with an Canon engineer the other day, and contrary to the advice you get from the standard phone support reps, he told me to definitely use the CUPS driver when printing RAW or 16-bit images from Photoshop or Aperture, as it's the only way to do 16-bit printing.
