Aperture processing gear will not stop spinning

using aperture 3.5 on a macbook pro retina 15 inch with OS X 10.9.5. Made adjustments to a photo and gear will not stop spinning. I have done the three repairs shut down and restarted. problem persists.

Perhaps it's trying to access your voicemail. Is that working properly? Does the Phone app work?
Try resetting your iPhone by pressing the home and sleep buttons until you see the Apple logo, ignoring the slider. Takes about 5-15 secs of button holding and you won't lose any data or settings.

External hard drive will not stop spinning even after partition

Just been on to WD As i had a 320 passport that would not stop spinning ,
After contacting them i discovers all 5 are doing the same. Other brands too. They get hot, The 320 I did a full mac HD disc utility check, partitioned , All fine , but the Ext HD still keeps spinning, WD company said its a problem with the computer,
So i have done the same test and repair on permissions on the main internal mac drive.
So what’s Causing this ? WD do there own diagnostics, Only on windows.
I have read the other forum here on the matter but could not make any sence of it,

Perhaps some application is using the hard drives... check "Activity Monitor" in Applications>Utilities and see if you can figure out what might be doing it.
Some ideas are any virus scanning program, any hard disk monitoring program, and spotlight. You could try going to Spotlight Preferences (in System Preferences) and adding your hard drives to the Privacy tab.

Why does my hard drive stay spinning constantly unless you eject it?

Select Window ▹ Connection Doctor from the Mail menu bar. You should see a green dot next to each of the mail servers you've defined. Is that what you see? If not, click the Show Details button. A drawer opens at the bottom of the window. If there's text in that drawer, please post it. If not, click Check Again and post the text that appears. Wheel next to faces will not stop spinning

So iPhoto was merrily plugging along when, the other day, I noticed that the update wheel next to faces began to spin...and spin...and spin. I quit iPhoto and, much to my chagrin, the wheel returned.
The wheel continues to persist, even after I have wiped out all my faces. There's an empty corkboard and yet the wheel continues to spin. It did the initial scan fine, yet persists with the updating wheel.
Very frustrating! I think other people have mentioned the problem to some degree, but I'm posting my experience (and unsuccessful fix attempts)
Any advice???
I have attempted the following "fixes":
Trashed the two faces db files and allow faces to rebuild.
Trashed the iphoto plist preferences files
Rebuilt the entire iphoto library from automatic backup.
Repaired disk permissions.

well looking at this thread (http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2123582&start=275&tstart=0) i could solve the problem, but partially.
what i did:
1- got the iPhoto library rid of movies by exporting them to another folder.
2- reindexed iPhoto library with iPhoto Library Manager.
it worked right away.
but after finding a lot of photos to have the faces on it confirmed, iPhoto quit suggesting faces - although there are still a great lot of photos yet to have their faces confirmed.

Distiller will not stop distilling postscript file

I use Distiller 6.0.2. Lately, when I try to distill a Quark layout into a pdf the distilling process will not stop. The progress bar shows a number that just keeps on climbing up. It seems if I quit the program and then restart it, this will solve the problem and distiller will make a pdf of the postscript. However, I will get the same problem once I try to distill another page. I tried to trashing the Distiller preferences and then restarting the program. This did not do anything.

It's not a specific file and it doesn't matter how big a file is. I am distilling a postscript file. My Mac is running on 10.3.9. I only print from Quark to get postscript files.

Nano will not stop scrolling songs

Nano is continually scrolling through all songs without allowing me to play any of them. It just starting doing this after using it without problems for over a year. It will not stop, but scans through all songs without letting me play them. When I touch the play button it stops for a split second then goes back to scanning all my songs. I have tried everything to fix it.

Okay, the problem is fixed. Try this, It worked for me.
Deauthorize and reauthorize your account in iTunes
In some cases iTunes may "forget" that your music is authorized. You can refresh the authorization by deauthorizing and then reauthorizing your computer. To deauthorize a computer:
1. In iTunes, choose Deauthorize Computer from the Store menu (your computer needs to be connected to the Internet).
2. In the resulting dialog, enter your Apple ID and password.
3. Click OK.
You can now reauthorize your computer by simply trying to play one of the songs you've purchased. A dialog box will appear asking you to enter your Apple ID and password. Once you have done so, click Authorize to finish the process.

Canncelling sync will not stop

In the process of syncing my ipad with my pc. After syncing was done the message says "canncelling sync" and will not stop. What can be done? Thanks.

I bought a Centro from Sprint.com in March and I am having the same problems. It will not stop trying to Sync even if my cell phone is not connected to the computer via USB cable. I can not even use the phone to call anyone as the "Connecting with the desktop using Cradle/Cable" will not go away. When it is hooked up the computer it works fine and I can use the phone and the HotSyncs are successful but only if it is hooked up to the computer.

Aperture 3.2 will not import any older libraries. Is there any way to get around this. I have 20 plus computers (students) running the older version and have upgraded mine just to see how good Lion is. Unfortunately, mine is where we gather all of the projects from the other computers so now we are stuck.

This does work but adds another step to the process.
Back in version 1 or 2 (before the "Add or Merge" dialog box) adding librarys was much easier. I could grab multiple libraries and drop them on Aperture and then leave for awhile and let them get imported. Now I can only do it one at a time because the dialog box often appears and delays everything. Is there anyway to default Aperture to ALWAYS ADD?

Premiere Pro CC will not stop rendering

In the past 2 weeks, PP will not stop rendering frames on the timeline. As the "frames rendering" amount increases, so does the frames to be rendered. It never ends and when I cancel the render, nothing has even rendered.
Any ideas?

I have been editing in AVC - Intra 100 1080i and when rendering the sequence it does not stop. It will say "Rendering frame YYY of XXX." However, "XXX" quantity keeps growing and the whole process does not end. Additionally, the "Green Line" does not appear nor does the playback improve after extensive rendering.
After reading the above comments, I created another sequence in HDV 1080P and it seems to be working fine although the "Time Remaining" is a lie.
Is there a preferred quality/format for editing? I typically will include various formats and still photography in my sequences.
Additionally, I have not found a way to change the preview file format as it is grayed out and un-selectable in the Sequence Settings dialogue box. How do I change it and what would be the preferred setting for laptop editing?

Remember this was a test. It tells us that iPhoto is essentially sound and the issue is within your main library.
Let's try repair that:
Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
If that fails:
Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

I know exactly what you mean. I got that as well. On a few of them, when I opened the websites using the generic test screen icons and then closed them, they changed back to the way that they should look. For the ones that did not change, I recreated the home screen shortcuts and deleted the generic looking ones - the test screen icons.
And don't get me started on iBooks.
For the very limited use that I make of the iBooks app, i haven't noticed any problems, but I rarely use the app. I don't read books on the iPad other than a few user guides and if they are pdf guides, they reside in more reliable and feature rich pdf apps on my iOS device.
I wish that I had the fix for the spinning activity icon, but everything that I try, is temporary at best. IMO, this is the buggiest iOS update that I have seen, and I have been using iOS devices since iOS 3 on my first iPad. I realize that there are plenty of people that are not experiencing issues, but I have seen a number of weird things that I wish I could fix. None of my problems are major, but they are annoying.

Rebuilding aMacBook 1.83 GHz Intel Core Duo, hard drive failure so rebuilding system. Aircard will not stop self-assigning IP address. Any ideas how to resolve successfully?

Had hard drive failure on MacBook 1.83 GHz Intel Core Duo, so had to rebuild the OS on new drive. Was on Lion 10.7.5 prior to failure, but had to reinstall Snow Leopard 10.6.3 since that was most recent OS on media I had. After finally getting ethernet connection to router working, was able to get to internet and download / upgrade to 10.6.8. I assume I can probably buy the upgrade to Mountain Lion 10.8 from there.
Problem is this, Airport will not stop self-assigning IP address for my wireless connection, and unless I can get wireless back on this laptop, doesn't make a lot of sense to continue the rebuild and reinstall of all the software that was on it prior to HD failure. Only way to my home network and router is ethernet now. Everything else on my network (Apple MacBook Pro laptops, iPhones, desktops, and non-Apple printers and laptops) is hooking up to router wirelessly fine.
Any ideas how to resolve successfully so that the airport will stop self-assigning and allow the router to assign the IP address?

My ipod touch will not stop playing music

My ipod touch will not stop playing music. I will pause the music, leave the playlist, and after 30-60 seconds, the music starts playing again. I use my ipod when I run and when I drive (hook it up to the stereo). It is very annoying when I stop to take a phone call or listen to directions, turn off my music, and then hardly a minute into my stop, the music starts right back up again.

Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost

least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Unsync all music and resync
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.

- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

Itunes 10 will not stop auto syncing

I have itunes 10 on a mac and a 160 gb ipod classic.
it will not stop auto syncing when I plug in my ipod, even though "do not auto Sync" button is checked as well as checking off "do not open itunes automatically.
It syncs FOREVER. I would love to find a way to stop this from happening. I dread plugging in my ipod to put on new music etc.

I have had this problem with Windows 7 and iTunes updates for some time. Each time it takes hours to solve but with the over the air upgrade to IOS6 on my iPhone and iPad, I was determined to solve and remember what I did, So here it is:
