Aperture quits during export of versions

I have a watermark png correctly sized for 640x640 export. The program will export the first 15 or so images then quits. Help Please.

Aperture quits during Import when Photostream enabled

Whenever I enable Photostream, Aperture quits a few seconds after it starts importing from Photostream.
This occurs even with the latest Lion update and the latest Aperture date. I have tried repairing, rebuilding but still crashes.
Once it starts doing this I don't even have time to turn Photostream off in the preferences before it quits again.

Any suggestions?

That's an indication that your library is damaged and needs to be repaired: apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
Fix #1
1 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
2 - run Option #4 to rebuild the database.
Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 - download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 - click on the Add Library button and select the library you want to add in the selection window..
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the Library ➙ Rebuild Library menu option.
4 - In the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments. However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

IPhoto quits during exporting

When I try to export my photos to Facebook, iPhoto quits unexpectedly as it's loading my pictures. This has happened at least 6 times now- here is one of the error reports, in case it helps:

Hi, it quits sometimes when i'm doing editing and when rendering.
Today i tried to remove the program WMV Flip4Mac (Free Version). which i suspect is causing the problem. And i finally managed to render properly.
Its funny bcos i have another imac with the same program Flip4Mac but it doesn't cause any problems to FCP.
Any explanations?

Help! Final Cut Pro unexpectedly quits during export.

This couldn't have happened at a worse time. I'm desperate to make a deadline and every time I try export using final cut pro OR compressor the program will unexpectedly quit in the middle of it. It usually happens within 10 minutes of a 40 minute export. I'm just doing a standard quicktime export of an 80 minute long movie. It was working fine only a few days ago. Anyone have any ideas what this might be? We've tried all the normal things, restarting, using final cut rescue, etc.
Not sure what else to say. We are in a huge time crunch and we can't even get it off of the computer and on to another one.

Hey thanks for your help! Yes I have tried exporting a self contained movie but everytime it just quits on me. I've tried about 15 times so far. if it is a corrupt render file is there something I can do about that? Ive been trying to render it to the full render in final cut as well before an export but after about 5 minutes final cut quits. So now it quits when I render AND when I export. So ive been going through and rendering 3 minutes at a time, maybe that will help. I dunno.

Exporting a Version from Aperture

This is driving me nuts. I've got a 5 meg Jpeg in Aperture that I'm trying to export a version of at it's original size. The version and the original are both exactly the same with no modifications at all. When I export version I choose "original size" but when it exports the file size ends up at 2.5 meg. It doesn't seem to matter which file I choose, the exported file size is always about half the original.
Any thoughts?

Because you're dealing with JPEG compression. JPEG is a lossy compression; files will be re-compressed every time they are saved. There is no way to "guarantee" that a 5 MB JPEG file will be 5 MB when it's exported: You will never get the exact same size if a file is re-compressed.
If you want it to be larger than 2.5 MB for some reason, then set the export quality to 11 or 12 and you'll get a bigger file. It may not be much if any higher quality though.

Pre Pro 5.5 quits during Rendering/exporting

I've been working on short, 1min30 to 2min, testimonies including tracks for logo, title, matte, and the actual media. This requires keyframing changes in scale, position, 3-color correction, gobos and diffusion. The latter two coming from 3rd party Tiffen. Got the first 4 or 5 done with no problem, but the last several have quit during rendering or, if rendered, during exporting. Data: CS 5.5, Mac 10.7.5, Source footage is HD 1440x1080, hard drive has remaining capacity of 1.65 TB, 3rd Party the aforementioned Tiffen Dfx v.3, and, sadly, no Mercury Playback Engine GPU. Can any one tell what's going on?

Aperture 3.6 not exporting jpg versions at 300dpi despite preset selected

Hi, Aperture 3.6 is not exporting jpg versions (of Nikon RAW) files at 300dpi despite 300dpi being selected in the preset.
Jpgs are being exported at 72dpi although Tiffs are being exported correctly.
I'm guessing it's a recurrence of the previous Aperture bug but while we wait for a fix, does anyone have a solution please?
I'm currently exporting Tiffs and then using a Photoshop batch action to save as jpgs - not a great workflow!

Aperture won't export

since yesterday i encounter the same problem as some described before.
Aperture 'refuses' to export my foto's.
It keeps saying 'exporting' in the bottom of the screen and quitting the program is not posibble, the only solution is to perform a forced stop.
When i open the program afterwards there's a message where the prog advises to repair the library. (which is not the solution to the problem)
any ideas how to fix this irritating bug? my OS is V 10.2.8 & i have the latest version of Aperture 3.4.1 (which appears to be useless now)

You mean Mac OS 10.8.2, right?
Does Aperture hang when exporting any image, or does it only happen for some of your images? Are you trying to export versions or original images?
Sometimes Aperture hangs, when it is processing a single, corrupted image.
If the problem only occurs with certain images, remove them from your library, but if you are having this problem with all images, try the Aperture 3: Troubleshooting Basics
I'd start with removing Preferences and presets, and then try the other options.

How can I export several versions at the same time?

Greetings -
I'm looking for something that I may just be missing, and hoping someone here can point me in the right direction.
Basically, I'd like to be able to select an image in my library and export several versions at the same time. For example, I select a photo and export JPG, TIFF and PSD versions in one shot without having to run three separate export requests - essentially a batch action. I can't imagine that this isn't built in already - I'm just assuming that I'm missing something obvious.

Fwiw, I've not seen this requested before.
This kind of Export option is very typical, Kirby, when the rendering of the exported version will take a long time, for example for video or audio. Then you can share several formats at once, to render a version suitable for the web, for viewing on the computer, or the iPhone at the same time. That is really useful, if you render a movie at a full HD resolution and don't have to do it again for an iPhone/iPod version.
QuickTime 7 does this for the "File > Export for Web" option, for example. You can get three versions of your final movie at the same time.
And I just checked, the new iMovie Theater does this as well, when sharing a movie to the Theater:
When you add a movie, trailer, or clip to the Theater, iMovie creates versions of your movie tailored for local playback, playback on an iOS device, and streaming.
Come to think about it - exporting a webpage from Aperture will also export thumbnail sized images plus a larger version for downloading.

Exporting Multiple Version at the same time to disc

Hi,
Is there any way that you can configure your export settings to export two versions of a 'version' at once?
For example, I normally supply clients with High and Low res duplications of an image set so that they have print and web versions ready to go.
I would like to set up some kind of configuration on Export where Aperture renders both the high and low res sets at once to the burn folder.
Its not a huge problem, but would simplify my workflow.
Also... does anyone use Burn to Disc? Is it worth the money?

There are commands to mass convert everything in a folder, and drop the conversions into the same or new folder. Has a modest cost, and the developer is amazingly responsive to suggestions, trouble-shooting, etc.
You might could do this with Preview, Photoshop Bridge, etc., but I have only relied upon GC for such.

InDesign 2.x Unexpectedly Quits During Startup

I've seen postings for this and similar problems going back several years. Have tried the various fixes. None seem to work.
I've got InDesign 2.02 installed on a Mac PowerBook G4 running Mac OS X v10.4.11. It's a small screen, 1GHz model with 768 MBytes RAM. I usually work hooked into a 1600 x 1200 pixel monitor.
Last year I had problems with InDesign quitting when I tried to save a file being worked on. It was a pain, but I remember somehow working around the problem. Maybe exported file. Don't recall what the work around was.
I just recently tried using InDesign again. Similar to some other postings, when InDesign is started up, it quits during the splash screen statement "Executing startup services ...".
Is anyone still having this problem or know of a solution?:-(

Hmm... Maybe it's the same issue that affected CS/CS2: they started crashing after installing Acrobat 8.2 or 8.2.1.

A while ago, the fix was to restore some stuff in the 'Application Support' folder (Acrobat was mucking something up in a shared area, and that caused InDesign CS/CS2 to crash on startup), but apparently, there is now an Acrobat 8.2.2 to fix the issue. If you have Acrobat 8.2 or 8.2.1, it could be the same issue.

Since I don't know what a lot of these crash reports really mean I can only guess. However I see it reporting MyBook on a USB port. FCP wants firewire for external drives.
Try that, repairing permissions and resetting FCP prefs tho I suspect it's the drives on USB. try that first

Unable to create ?volume in iPhoto during export

Should read "/volume/" in "iPhoto" during export. Had same message in version 6.0.6 and 7.1.5 and now 8.1.2. File is archived in original 6.0.6 but was upgraded in oyher two versions. Will not work in .jpg or .tiff formats. 3330 pictures are involved with different camera desig nations, ie. DSCN and IMG.
Any ideas?

Select one of the affected photos in the iPhoto Window and right click on it. From the resulting menu select 'Show File (or 'Show Original File' if that's available). A Finder Window should open with the file selected. Does it?
