Aperture repeatedly quits unexpectedly

Hello,
I just ran into my first major problem with Aperture. Have about 10 greyed out images (I assume that means they can't be located) which I am unable to delete or relocate. Every time I try to delete the master files Aperture unepectedly quits everytime.
This happened after Aperture unexpectedly quit when I was try to delete a large amount of images from my rejected folder.
Something of interest; the location of the files changed to another project when I deleted the one it said they were in. Even though I can't actually locate the files by looking at the package contents or by searching the hard drives.
Any Ideas?
Kind Regards,
—Eric

I would suggest that you try to get Aperture to rebuild the Library structure (Hold down Option when clicking the icon)next time it opens.
It takes a while, depending on the size of your library, but does seem to fix the sort of issues you are having.

  • Aperture 2 quits unexpectedly

Does anybody have any idea why my new copy of Aperture 2 comes up with the message 'application has quit unexpectedly etc.' after I have quit the application. It doesn't seem to have any detrimental affect but it's still rather annoying.

Same issue here. Crashing when choosing the "Quit Aperture Trial" from the main menu. This is 100% repeatable for me.
    I am on a PB 17" 1.67 with 1.5G Ram.

  • Safari repeated 'quit unexpectedly'

On our son's Mac mini, running OS 10.4.11 1.5Ghz 512 RAM. Working uneventfully for several years. recently he's been playing free on line games with some downloads - solo, not interacting on line with anyone else. Now if click on safari we get a narrow strip of the top 1cm of the window for safari and if type a search or web address in - can just do this, - it always quits unexpectedly. Has been reported online to Apple, and I have looked at various solutions from magazines, but nothing has worked. I am not particularly computer literate so clear advice/suggestions much appreciated. thanks.

HI and Welcome to Apple Discussions...
If you can't post a crash report try maintenance...
From the Safari Menu Bar, click Safari / Empty Cache. When you are done with that...
From the Safari Menu Bar, click Safari / Reset Safari. Select the top 5 buttons and click Reset.
Go here for trouble shooting 3rd party plugins or input managers which might be causing the problem. Safari: Add-ons may cause Safari to unexpectedly quit or have performance issues

Web pages now include a small icon or 'favicon' which is visible in the address bar and next to bookmarks. These icons take up disk space and slow Safari down. It is possible to erase the icons from your computer and start fresh. *To delete Safari's icon cache using the Finder, open your user folder, navigate to ~/Library/Safari/ and move this file "webpageIcons.db to the Trash.*
    bpageIcons.db to the Trash.*
    10.4.11 1.5Ghz 512 RAM.
he's been playing free on line games
If you son is visiting sites that stream Flash content such as YouTube or visits gaming sites, you need at least 1GB of RAM. Read here. http://www.buzzle.com/articles/how-much-ram-do-i-need.html

  • Skype's repeatedly quitting unexpectedly

Hi, I'm using Mac OS X 10.6.8. I was just using skype an hour ago but now it keeps quitting unexpectedly. My internet hung so I forced shut it down, restarted in Safe Mode, exited it and started it on the normal mode. I opened skype in safe mode and it was fine! but after that, when i exited safe mode, the error message that skype is quitting unexpectedly keeps showing up! ive tried everything - deleted the files in the skype folder, reinstalled skype but nothing works! I have an anti-virus installed on my mac so I've scanned skype and nothing seems to be infected really desperate now because I use Skype on a daily basis.

  • Why does Aperture intermitently quit unexpectedly

I have series of RAW CR2 flies from my Cannon EOS1Ds Mk2. Some have been through Photoshops browser for selection, renamimg, and appending meta data with copyright info and captions etc. Apertures quits intermitentley while importing these files. CR2 files that have not been amended by the Photoshop Browser import OK. What is happening to the these files that make Aperture quite. I have spoken with Apple suport who can not help me as they can not recreate the problem.
Would like to hear from any one with the same problem.

Repairing permissions won't fix ANYTHING related to files in a user's directory anywhere. Repair Permissions checks the Bill of Materials (BOM) files in /Library/Receipts, and if the permissions of anything in there are out of sync with what's installed in your /System /Library or /Applications folder is goofy, it can fix it. If there are corrupt files in the Aperture library or in your own ~/Library/Preferences folder, "repair permissions" will do nothing.
To the originator of the thread -- there is a "report to Apple" button on the crash dialog, I'd suggest using it. You could try posting the crash dump here (it's in the box when you report things), though I doubt with the audience here you're going to find many Cocoa application debuggers.

I have Mac OS X 10.7.5 and am using imovie 9.0.4. I have completed several projects just fine and one only last week. Suddenly, imovie has crashed each time I try to export or finalize a project. Once I recieved the Kernel Panic message that I must restart my computer. I downloaded all available updates and rebooted my computer but the imovie crashes continue each time I try to export. Please advise what I should do. Must I take my computer into Apple Store?!

    Hi
How much free space is there on Your Mac main Start-Up hard disk ? for
    • SD-video - I never go under 25Gb
    • HD-material used - I guess that x5 more would do.
Even as DVD is as standard SD-Video it needs space to scale down HD and Mac OS needs lot's for it's temp. files.
I do not "Finalize" or use "Share to iDVD" - but I do "Share to Media Browser" and as Large (not HD or other resolution as this will degrade the final result)

  • Updating Aperture vault will not complete, Aperture quits unexpectedly.

I have a continuing and recurring problem updating Aperture vault after the current Aperture update.  The problem also occured after the last update.
Updating the vault does not complete and Aperture quits unexpectedly.  This frequently leads to repair to the Aperture library being required.  The only solution i have found is to create a new vault.  Time consuming and a frustrating waste.  I have reloaded Aperture and made updates.  This has not solved the problem.  I have checked permissions.  Nothing wrong there.
My vault and Aperture library are on seperate external drives.

i am experiencing the very same problem updating my vault. Have tried about a half dozen times, creating new vaults (some work some dont) and updating existing vaults (never works). My managed library is 418GB on an external raid array. I have previously created a vault successfully on an external La Cie drive, but then the update failed. After repeated attempts I can not create a new one without Aperture crashing -- which leads to a multi hour repair session. Very very frustraing.
Can someone from Apple comment on whether this is a known bug? What is the work around? Smaller libraries?

    Hi,
Open a Finder window. Select your Home Folder in the Sidebar on the left. Then open the Library folder then the Preferences folder.
Move the com.apple.PhotoBooth.plist file from the Preferences folder to the Trash.
    Restart your Mac.

  • Since loading Mavericks  Aperture 2 keeps quitting unexpectedly what can I  do ?

Mavericks  Aperture 2 keeps quitting unexpectedly what can I  do ?

If you were last successful running it in Mac OS X 10.6.8, it would be explained because when it was released, Rosetta was still needed.  The latest version of Aperture works with at least Mountain Lion:
    http://roaringapps.com/app/aperture-345
which means it would not have access to Rosetta.
You have to be wary of any applications running in 10.6.8 and their compatibility with Lion and above:

There is a problem with the Aperture installer. In some cases the installation is not complete, if you update on top of a recent version.
In your case the facebook publisher and AccountConfigurationPlugin are not working.

For most posters here (there must be 30 and more discussions by now) it helped to reinstall Aperture after removing the Application from the Applications Folder and the reinstalling again.
See this Support article by Apple on how to do the reinstall:
Aperture 3.4: May quit unexpectedly on launch after updating

  • Aperture and FlickrExport quits unexpectedly

I have been uploading photos from Aperture to Flickr for many months with the FliclrExport plugin with no problem. Today as the first photo is halfway up Aperture quits! No message saying it quit unexpectedly or anything.
I have installed all the latest updates and even upgraded to Aperture 2.1 and still it crashes.
    Any Ideas?

Have you uploaded the FlikrExport plugin? If you're upgraded Aperture, you may need to upgrade the plugin as well.

  • Can't open Aperture, error message: quit unexpectedly

I can't open my Aperture, with error message: "Aperture quit unexpectedly"

I can't open my Aperture, with error message: "Aperture quit unexpectedly"
That isn't much to go on. Please provide more clues to your problem:
The exact error message and the first 50 lines of the error log,
The Aperture version, the version of your OS, the technical data of your machine,
any other information you might think helpful, like is it the first time, you tried to run aperture or was it running o.k. previously?
    Did you install anything previously?
Is Aperture the only application causing problem?
Otherwise we will not be able to help you.
    Regards
    Léonie
