Aperture reprocesses previews for all videos every time I open it

I use Aperture to organise all my videos shot on Canon 7d and an old HD Cam (705 vids, 381GB). Whereas my stills are stored in the aperture library, the videos are imported into eparate folders named after each project inside one master video folder.
I do this because it is an easy way to work with all of them in FCP (X), importing them without moving them, keywords from the folders coming across (and also because FCP used to incorrectly display the meta data- date and time imported shown as the file's creation details, when accessed via the aperture library menu from FCP, this bug has probably since been corrected)..
After restoring from a time machine back up recently, Aperture now reprocesses previews for all 705 movies every single time I open it, reboot or not. It doesn't hang on any particular file or crash but (as it's a mid 2010 MBP) simply slows Aperture down below useable for a few mins until they are done.
Post import processing set to camera previews, new projects always create previews ticked.
What am I doing wrong please? Should I attempt to fix the database?

As a work-around - hold down the shift-key, when launching Aperture. That will defer the generation of Previews, so you can start working immediately.
What is your Aperture version and MacOS X version?

Was Aperture the only thing you restored from a Time Machine backup? Or did you restore more of your system? If you reinstalled or upgraded the system, there may be now video codecs missing. In that case check, if reinstalling additional video codec (Perian, Flip-4-Mac, or similar) may help.
If the reinstalled aperrture library has been created on a different mac, there may be permission problems after restoring from Time Machine. Check the permissions and ownership on your video folders.
Are you touching the videos in any way, when using them in Final cut? Using stabilize or something? If the " last modiied " date is changed by Final Cut, this might prompt Aperture to recreate the preview.

How do you try to start the repair dialogue? By starting Aperture or by opening the Library?
If you not already have tried it with directly opening the library:
reveal your Aperture Library in the Finder
Whilst holding down Command(⌘)- option (⌥) double click on the Aperture Library.
Select "repair library" from the dialogue.
What about Frank Caggiano's questions above?
It would be really helpful to know, how many libraries you have, and if this problem is restricted to one of them.

How can I stop iTunes from prompting me for my password every time I open it?

Every time I open iTunes I am prompted four times to enter my Apple ID password. Now I know that this is because I have automatic downloads enabled but it never used to do this when I had iTunes 11, only happened since I've had iTunes 12.
Short of turning off Automatic Downloads, is there a way that I can get iTunes to stop prompting me for my password?

It sounds like to me, because you mention Automatic Downloads, that you are being prompted to authorize your account. ITunes Asks For My Password Every Time It Opens

Running Mac OSX 10.10.1 (Yosemite) and iTunes 12.0.1.26
Every time I open iTunes, it asks me for my password. It asks for it usually four times:
-to enable automatic downloads (twice, not always in succession)
- to enable iTunes Radio
- And to enable downloads
I've asked this before with no success and no solutions.
Can anyone help?

Like Jassy, this is a relatively new issue. I hate to say it, but it seemed to coincide with my Mavericks update. I doubt it's because of that, specifically, but it was around the same time. I really think it's some kind of Safari/iTunes issue.
I actually don't understand what you mean by an active internet connection being the problem. I'm only on line when my Mac is turned on and (I assume) when I'm on email or browsing the web. I don't have any connections set up when I'm not actively on line. But even so, I don't know wh that would cause me to have to log in to iTunes (four times in rapid succession) every time I clear my browser history.
That seems to be the one thing that causes it though - clearing my Safari History. If I don't clear it, iTunes doesn't require me to log back in. Only when I clear it does iTunes make me do those four log ins.
Hope that helps clarify this. I'm not a real whiz at this.

Final Cut asks for Serial Number every time I open it.

A couple months ago I upgraded to Final Cut Studio 2 on my iMac. Since then, every time I open up any applications I get prompted to type in my serial number. I've resulted to keeping my serial number on my desktop for easy access, but it's still really annoying. Any ideas?

This is just a thought...I don't know the answer from experience. Perhaps your user account doesn't have privileges to write the file to wherever FCS wants to store the Serial #. Once it's written on your computer, it's should work from any user account.
Does the user account you're entering the serial number from have administrative privileges? If not, then try logging into your administrator account (or temporarily give your user account the privileges) and enter the serial number there.

Lightroom5 asks for serial number every time I open.

Every time I open Lightroom I have to give my serial number. Somehow I am now using a trial version after upgrading to LR5 via CC. Don't know how to fix.

Try this (MAC OSX):
- close all Adobe application
- navigate to Mac HD>Library>Application Support>Adobe>Lightroom>Lightroom 5.0
- Right-click on Lightroom 5.0 folder and select Get Info
- In Get Info window, expand Sharing and Permissions secition, click on Lock icon and give all accounts listed read and write
- click on small gear icon and select 'Apply enclosed items'
- Then close the Get Info window and launch Lightroom 5, enter the serial number and close and re-launch the product

Final Cut Studio asks for serial number EVERY time I open a program

I recently purchased Final Cut Studio 2, and every time I open a program (Motion, FCP, Compressor, etc.) it asks me to put in my name and serial number.
What gives?

HT204085 Keep being asked for keychain id every time I open a new web page. How can I get this to stop?

Open Firefox -> go to View Menu -> Page Style -> select "No Style"
Now the pages will open in your suggested font sizes. Check and tell if its working.

Every time I open up these files they want to "save" again

For some reason, every time I open up a certain set of files that a friend sent me, it wants me to save them.
IN OTHER WORDS, simply opening the files tricks INDD CS5.5 into thinking I have modified them, but I have not modified them in any way.
Is this something I should be worried about?

I've done a lot of work to show you how to make this go smoother, I think. The file you sent has a LOT of loose vector art, probably pasted from Illustrator becasue making it in ID would be pretty much impossible: the picture frames and the little bullets. This would account for the error message you got about placing as embedded eps. I copied those elements to Illustrator and saved them as .ai files that can be linked.
On the master page I added some layers, one for the picture frames and one for text, and placed the picture frames on the master (this alyer is above the layer for the photos), then removed the frames from the document pages and moved the text (and initial caps) to the text layer which is above the frames. Finally, I removed the bullets that were placed loose above the strings of non-breaking spaces and placed them inline in place of most of the spaces.
I'll be sending you the sample file and new links shortly.
As far as the request to save, I saw that when I opted to update links on open, but not otherwise. Do you store this stuff on a server? Do you get a message about updating links when you open (you might not if you checked the don't show again box). It could indicate a time synchronization problem between your workstaion and the server. The two large photos were missing, as was one font, but I don't believe that has a bearing.

go to iphone >> Settings >> Notification Centre >> TODAY VIEW >> Calendar Day View ( turn this off )
this temporary solution worked for me and when turn on Calaender Day View, restart problem starts again.
So, I believe its IOS problem, please Apple look into it as turnning off Calender Day View is not the option.

My iphoto is saying its damaged and that I have to quit it every time I open it now... what should I do?

I am desperate to get access to my itunes to get music on my phone and all of this just makes me want me to sell my iphone since there is no other way to add music to my phone. The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
The further information area has direct links to the current and recent builds in case you have problems downloading, need to revert to an older version or want to try the iTunes for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) release as a workaround for installation or performance issues, or compatibility with QuickTime or third party software.
