The sample library only has been available with the boxed version of Aperture sold from the Apple Store; that version is no longer available; but with the App Store version you got yourself the much better bargain, far less expensive and a less restrictive licence agreement.
You can easily use your own images to do the Tutorials.

If the upgrade completed successfully and you are running Aperture 3 on the converted library and you're sure all the images that were in the old library are in the new library then you could delete the Aperture 2 library.
However I'm the paranoid type and when it comes to deleting images I'm always hesitant. If you can fine a place to archive the old library that  would be your a better option.
At a minimum I would keep the old library around for a month or so after switching to Aperture 3 just to make sure in case something pops up.

To read COMTRADE file in Labview there is an example provided. Can somebody provide the sample .cfg and .dat files required for its working?

    Thanks for the reply.
But this library doesn't contain any sample .cfg and .dat files which can be read and understood. Can you please provide the same?

  • Backing up library and referenced files

I download my images to an external F800 hard drive and organize them in folders labeled with the dates in which the download took place.
I manage them in aperture as referenced files.
I just got a second external hard drive for back up purposes. What is the best way to back up my library and referenced files?. My external hard drive allows daisy-chaining.
Sorry if this is too simple a question, but before doing something wrong I rather ask.
thanks for the patience and will to reply,
    best
    Mauricio

Backup the Aperture Library to your new drive using Aperture's Vault feature. Backup the folders of Masters by Finder-copying the folders to the new drive immediately after the folders are created. That should be a nice clean workflow.
Don't forget some type of off site backup to deal with the possibility of fire or theft.

  • I click on "add to library" and the file shows up in my iTunes media file, but not in my iTunes.

I click on "add to library" and the file shows up in my iTunes media file, but not in my iTunes.

That didn't work - I'm so confused - it just doesn't make sense.  How could it be there, but not show up on itunes???

  • Does arch install library and header files into system when using abs?

In traditional make way, when compiling a package, I must install some library or header file or tool packages to satisfy its depends, but after compilation, I do "make install", and run it. At runtime, library and header file and tool packages are not needed....
This make a lot of unuseful packages are left in the system.....
In arch linux , when I using abs to make a package, does these packages are left in the system ?
How abs separates the compile-time depends and the runtime depends ????

I think the best method is file dependence , not package dependence.....
Software is arranged by package. but its dependence is file. When Install a package, pacman check its file dependence, and install the packages which include those files....
If a  not explicit installed package 's file does not required by any other packages , it can be removed automatically !
In this situation ,pacman can find packages that not needed after compilation, and remove them.

  • HELP PLEASE! Export Aperture 1 Library and Import to Aperture 3? Or another way to transfer files WITH changes into new MacBook Pro?

    Hi everyone,
I recently purchased a new MacBook pro with Retina display, to better manage Aperture and Photoshop. I took the advice of the genius (and after spending all night messing with permissions, etc.), opted out of using Setup Assistant or Migration Assistant and decided to transfer my files manually (as the two systems weren't merging properly the first time -- it was a giant mess). Long story short, I tried to transfer everything from my previous MacBook (operating on 10.5.8 with Aperture 1), and Aperture 3 couldn't handle it. It was crashing, and crashing so badly that NO button could be activated in the program (I FINALLY got Aperture working by disabling previews, and by moving from a managed library to a referenced library).
I initially dragged and dropped all photos from my previous MacBook to my external, and imported. I obviously lost folders, edit history and any other information that I needed to know what edits had been done on the file. Additionally, any movie that had been imported into Aperture was corrupt (the file was not transferring over correctly). I searched and searched for different methods, and finally found that I could export each project from my original MacBook as a "Library" and consolidate masters, or not, etc. I took the time and did this for each project. When I went to import these into Aperture 3, it said I was not able to because the libraries were from a previous version of Aperture.
Is there any way to bypass this? Or another way to transfer my projects? I understand I won't be able to do this for my entire library... but I'm wondering if there's any way to transfer my changes made, projects and details from Aperture 1 to Aperture 3? (and for those who might pose upgrading my original MacBook as an option, I cannot. It's too old. I think the best I could uprade to is Aperture 2, IF i can update the OS. Though, I definitely don't think I should be forced to do that since I've aleady re-invested in a new computer, AND had to re-buy Aperture for the new one.
Any/all advice is VERY much appreciated, as I really want to move forward and FINALLY start appreciating this program and computer (i.e. my investment) and move forward business wise. Thank you!

    Hi Jack,
Thanks for responding (as it seems as though no one else has been able to provide any insight as of yet)! Not sure if you saw my recent post, but the version of Aperture on the 2008 MacBook has been upgraded to 3.1.2 (not sure how; I bought it in 2009, but only have OS X 10.5.8... which apparently can't house 3.1.2 of Aperture, but hey, like many other anomalies i'm encountering, I'm no longer surprised!). I am unable to upgrade it any further, as it warns me that my OS X does not fit the requirements. I exported the projects as libraries; however, like I posted before, apparently these are from too old of a version for the new Aperture (3.3.1) to handle and import.
It's getting to the point where I'd almost pay to upgrade the OS X on my previous MacBook (10.5.8) to something newer in order to THEN update Aperture to a newer version; however, my previous MacBook simply cannot handle this (the specs are awful -- hence my decision to save up and upgrade to the newest MBP with Retina).
I've spent hours upon hours transferring files, libraries as projects, previews, versions, even masters (though, apparently some of them aren't accessible?) with no luck. I've rebuilt the library and reprocessed everything. And this is all after having to return one MBP already since Aperture 3.3.1 is glitch-y as it is, and froze everything for having a "managed library". So, now that I know that I have to deal with a referenced library in Aperture... I just need to actually transfer my previous library to my new one (hopefully WITH adjustments since these are years worth of photos and work).
Again, any help is appreciated. I've lost enough sleep, time, and vision health over this at this point.
Also, I know Migration Assistant is an option, I was told that it wouldn't work properly anyway because of the different operating systems, and the potential for problems.

  • Moving library and coping files

Greetings all. I am a new Apple convert. I am using Aperture 2.14 and have a large library ~ 65gigs. I want to move the entire thing to an external drive, but do not want to lose any files. Can I just copy the Aperture library from my Mac HD to the external, then go into preferences to re-direct Aperture?
Also, if you have the time, how do I copy individual files from the library to another drive for porting to a friend's computer?
    Thanks!

This should work fine - and you can test it w/o getting rid of your old library as well. One suggestion make sure your drive is formatted as HFS (Mac OS X) not FAT.
To get single images just use export version and choose a format and size for the selected images.

In Aperture, do you have a Managed or Referenced Library?
Is it possible that they're being imported into the iPhoto library
Not unless you have set up some form of Folder Actions - and you would know if you have. But a simple test: do your import actions as normal and then open iPhoto. Are the newest additions there?
would love to store the images> and videos on the external drive,
    This is easy.
and store a smaller copy for viewing on the laptop itself without taking up a bunch of room.
No need for a smaller copy. You can still view in Aperture without the disk connected.
and still make edits? Or only make edits to the files while connect
You can only edit the files with the disk connected.

  • Can I connect a NAS-based library and music files to an outboard DAC via ethernet

I am running iTunes via a Drobo Transporter NAS through an Airport Express using the analog output but would like to send the digital signal via ethernet to an outboard DAC. Is this possible? I haven't been able to get it to work. I am running a 2009 Macbook Pro 17", OS X 10.9.5, iTunes 11.4, Airport Extreme as router, ethernet connected to Airport Express. My network: internet from microwave tower to Airport Extreme via ethernet connection. Airport Extreme connected to 5-port switch which connects via ethernet to Transporter, outboard DAC, and Airport Express. My music files and iTunes library are on the Transporter.

Thanks, Niel! As it turned out, I had a LaCie rugged drive at my place which had both Firewire 400 and Firewire 800 connections and cables. So I hooked it up to the old iBook, pulled my sister's stuff onto it as instructed in the ppc to intel thread, and then hooked it up to the Macbook Pro. Problem solved! - almost. We did have two issues:
    1. My sister has a lot of music - more than 12 gigs were on the iBook's hard drive, but only about 6 made it onto the Macbook Pro. Why is that? I also got a message, when I was trying to move the music folder from the old library onto the new one, that OS X needed this folder and it couldn't be modified. Again, why is that? How, then, do you move files from a PPC to a machine running Lion? Again, a lot of her music files did make it over, but not all of them.
    2. All her photos did seem to come over - in duplicate, maybe even in triplicate. That is so annoying! The same thing happened to me when I was migrating between my old eMac G4 and my iMac G5. Why on earth does iPhoto do this, and how can we make it stop?!
But we did manage to get a lot of her stuff onto the new machine. When we get the adapter, she'll be able to add the files that are on the Verbatim drive. You've been very helpful!

  • Is there a Windows tool to get pictures from Aperture's library and put them on the proper folders ?

So I got this huge Aperture library stored on a backup disk, but had to sell my iMac without having a chance to export all my pictures to a Windows laptop I have.  My pictures are still accessible from Windows if I browse through my Aperture Library, but they are sitting in some cryptic folders.
Question is: Is there a Windows tool which would read the library's metadata and export the pictures to the appropriated folders (like "holidays in Europe 2009", or something less cheesy).
    thanks a lot !

    Hi paulolimajr,
Short answer, no, if there is a program I have not read about one. If there a Apple store near you, maybe they can load your Aperture library then export all the Masters and Versions to a flash drive.
    Cordially,
