Aperture (second) trial version

Hi,
I've downloaded the Aperture Trial a few months back and did not get much time to test it at the time. I also was a bit confused, coming from iPhoto, Aperture is at first intimidating. I use mainly iPhoto and Photoshop Elements 6 for my workflow. But that makes things complicated to say the least.
Recently, I subscribe to the Lynda.com courses site and I watched a few courses about Aperture and LR. I needed to decide on which tool I would like to transfert my workflow. Now I'm pretty sure that Aperture is the way I want to go.
But I wanted to redownload the Aperture trial, but I cannot used it as my code is expired, hey, for a good reason. Is there a way to have another trial before I buy or I'm doomed?
One other think I'm a bit afraid of is that Apple may release another version of Aperture soon, as the present version is there for more than a year. But I guest it is a risk to take... Was the Aperture 1.1 to 1.5 a free upgrade at the time?

One other question that I forgot to ask, I have an iMac where I do most of my work, but sometimes I use my portable computer (a PowerBook G4, not compatible with Aperture 2.x, but likely to be changed soon). Is the Aperture licence "portable" to 2 machines, considering that when I use my portable, I'm not on the iMac and vise versa?

  • Is the aperture 3 trial version different from the original?

    Hello,
I am working on organizing my photos trying out the aperture 3 trial version. I'm thinking of getting the original one but before I actually organize my libraries I want to know if there are any differences I should know about that might affect my work launching the original version. Also, does the original work the same with the Duplicate Annihilator?
    Thanks in advance!

The trial version is a fully functional version of Aperture. If you decide to continue on with it you can just authorize the trial copy once you get our key. The only difference is the name of the default library the trail and non-trial versions create. But you can always rename the library if you wish.
All this applies to the CD version, if you eventually buy from the App Store I'm not sure what the procedure would be. But in any case the library created with the trial should be useable by the App Store version.
One thing to keep in mind, if you add images to the trial version and use it then decide not to keep Aperture you'll be able to retrieve your master files but any changes made will be lost.

  • Please help me with this aperture 3 trial version installation guide, asap!

I have aperture 2 (licensed volume) already installed and when I tried to install this aperture 3 trial version install, I have got this message "A licensed copy of Aperture has already been installed in the Applications folder. To install the Aperture 3 Trial, rename your existing copy of Aperture, then run this installer again." And when I tried to rename Aperture under this application folder to Aperture 2, I have got this message "You do not have sufficient access privileges to rename the item "Aperture" ", even though I m the admin user by checking "System Preference" >> "Accounts". Realli appreciate if anyone can explain how to install aperture 3 trial version with Aperture 2 installed, steps by steps clearly. and how to work around with the Aperture library when Aperture 3 is installed with Aperture 2 already installed. Thanks

You have a permissions problem with your applications folder. There are multiple ways to fix this, if you read up on repairing permissions.
The easiest solution is to just Duplicate your Aperture 2 application instead of renaming it. (highlight it and press command-D). You'll get "aperture copy" and you will have permission to change its name.

  • How to register aperture 3 trial version to get serial number

How do I get a serial number for the Aperture 3 trial version I have downloaded? They say to register, but I see no place to register when I open the link provided. I do not want to down load this thing again due to band width limitations.
Thank you for any help with this.
    Andrew

    Andrew,
As far as I know, they don't sell the S/N anymore other than you can buy the retail box from the online Apple Store. The retail box comes with a serial number you can enter without de-installing the trial. But as you'll see if you click the link, it will cost you $199 to get that box with a serial number. (Back when you could buy just a serial number, it also cost $199) (They also have the upgrade version box for $99 that requires you have a S/N from any prior version)
The Mac App Store Aperture is only $80 and you don't have to mess with a serial number. And if you use it for personal use, the license allows you to install it on any computer you own, no limits. (For commercial use the license is similar to the boxed version).

  • Aperture 3 trial version hangs and quits

I downloaded a trial version of Aperture 3 to try it out since I liked the added features. I currently use iPhoto. Everything went fine until I did the iPhoto import.
Now, every time I start Aperture, it either hangs and becomes unresponsive, or quits before fully opening, or one time opened, said processing, and then quit.
Another oddity is that my last import in iPhoto now contains a bunch of Aperture graphics and icons. Since I don't have a full serial number, and am not upgrading, I don't know if the other fixes about the serialization would be effective in my case.
Would love to try Aperture, but so far, no go.

So I tried downloading 3.0.1 trial that was supposed to fix the unexpected quitting problem. Nope. Still quits. I keep thinking it has something to do with the iPhoto import. Until I did that - or tried to do that, Aperture seemed fine.

I am trying to use a second trial version of Acrobat Pro, albeit a higher version; but after the download, which was successful, I am not able to access the program.

    Did you install it?

  • Trial Version Aperture 1.5

I down loaded the trial version of aperture 1.5 ages ago and bought the licence key after. Unfortunately
my hard drive crashed and I've lost the software but still have the licence key. Would anyone help me in getting aperture 1.5 ( just the software ) or point me in the right direction as to where I could maybe get a copy, as I don't particularly want ho have to spend over £300 on aperture 3 plus the mac boxed set up date.
Thanks in advance for any help

I do have a time machine which should have data from my old MBP is there anyway I can field the original serial number on my time machine?
Yes, connect your old Time Machine to your new Mac. Point the mouse over the Time Machine icon in the dock (don't click) then PRESS-AND-HOLD the mouse button for a few seconds. Instead of Time Machine launching as it normally would, you'll get a pop-up menu. One of the choice is "Browse other Time Machine disks...". Pick that choice.
You should be able to select your old Time Machine backup. You might be prompted to authenticate a username & password (I think network-based Time Machine backups require it but I think local Time Machine backups do not.) If so, the username & password it wants is the username & password from your OLD computer -- the one that created the Time Machine backup.
From here you can browse your backups and selectively restore whatever you want.
Now I'm certain where the license key file was kept in v1.5... my first version was 2.0. I believe the file you need to restore is: /Library/Application Support/ProApps/Aperture System ID
(And if anyone is still running Aperture 1.5 and can verify that's the file, it'd be awesome.)
Assuming it is, install Aperture 1.5 and restore that file. When Aperture runs it should behave as though it's licensed, AND if you click the 'About...' menu option in Aperture it should show you the non-encrypted version of the key so you can write it down and tuck in the box with your Aperture 2 & 3 disks.

  • Creative Cloud for Teams - second computer will only install as trial version

    Hi there
My company purchased Creative Cloud for Teams. I use a Mac at work and have installed it without any problems there. However at home i use a PC (Windows 7) and i have tried several times to sign into my Creative Cloud account and download programs so i can work at home but each time it will only load the programs as trial versions.
I have tried several troubleshooting options with no luck:
Clicked sign in on the trial window - but it just asks me for a serial number which i obviously dont have.
I asked my work IT dept to delete and resend my seat invitation which they did but it didnt fix the issue.
I asked my work IT dept to check with the reseller we bought Creative Cloud for Teams from whether there were any restrictions or settings which wont allow to install on a second computer but they said it should be fine.
My team mates at work have installed it on their home Macs without a problem, it seems to be only a PC issue.
I have had CS6 on my computer previously but uninstalled it all in case this was causing the conflict - but it didnt fix the CC issue.
I have uninstalled and used the Adobe Cleaner tool, then reinstalled but this didnt work - the trial days still kept counting down.
I uninstalled again, used a Registery cleaning tool (cleaned registery, temp files, browser temp files etc), used the Adobe Cleaner tool (just to make it extra clean), and removed all traces of Adobe from my machine. I reinstalled Creative Cloud Application manager, installed Acrobat to try it out. This time the trial days have gone back to 30 (rather than zero). I clicked on the "sign in" button, it signs me in but still asks for a serial number.
I tried contacting Adobe via the chat channel but was told after some time that i would need to speak to Tech Support. My dealings with Adobe Tech Support in the past haven't been the most fruitful, so i thought i would ask the forum as my last desperate attempt to solve this problem.
    Any and all suggestions welcome.
    Thanks!

  • Aperture 2.0 Activation Key does not work after using older trial version

I was using the installed trial version of Aperture 1.5+ in my recently purchased MacBook Pro Duo (December 2007). After using the trial version for 30 days I debated whether to take the plunge ...and then within a few days recieved word that v2.0 was out at 199$. That motivated me ...however, here I am nearly one week later without ability to activate a full blown version of 2.0.
I recieved the activation key, but it doesn't accept it in the dialog to upgrade in the trial version. Hint seems to be that it is not a serial number I am entering but an activation key.
I did not order a boxed version, so what do I do now? Support is not too helpful as I have searched Apple's website and have no clue as to where to go.
Last resort ... I want my $199 back!

did you download the trial for Aperture 2

  • Using FlashAlbumExporter plug-in with trial version of Aperture 2.1

I have aperture 1.5 and am thinking about upgrading.
One of the features I am looking for is more variety and control in web gallery generation from Aperture.
With this in mind I wanted to play with FlashAlbumExporter.
I downloaded the installer file and opened it but that is where I am hitting a wall.
I go to click the file (FlashAlbumExporter.ApertureExport) and it opens the trial version of Aperture 2.1 but I never see Flash Album Exporter as an export option after I have selected photos, projects, web pages, or anything else I could think of.
It simply doesn't install. What am I doing wrong?

Place the plugin bundle, FlashAlbumexporter.ApertureExport, in your Aperture Export plugin directory (Users -> "your user name" -> Library -> Application Support -> Aperture -> Plug-Ins -> Export).
NOTE: If this is your first Aperture plug-in, the folders Plug-Ins and Export may not exist. In this case just create them first.

  • Just downloaded trial version -- don't see iPhoto library in Aperture and need to import selected photos-not entire library!

I just downloaded trial version -- don't see iPhoto library in Aperture and need to import selected photos to edit, not entire i Photo library! I read manual and it says:
Browsing and Selecting Images in Your iPhoto Library
You use the Aperture iPhoto Browser to review iPhoto images and import specific images into the Aperture library. The iPhoto Browser gives you a handy way of looking for certain images without having to import your entire iPhoto library.
So, where do I review the iPhoto images...there is nothing in there that says "iPhoto Library"   Everything I see pertains to Aperture Library which of course is empty since I haven't imported (or dragged) any photos in there yet.
Also is tech support available for Aperture?  I have Apple Extended Support and I sure would love it if I had individual help.  I have a deadline --3 days to edit 300 photos and I'm a complete amateur.  iPhoto doesn't  have the capability to erase parts of a face (I need to contour the neck of a mannequin to make it proportionate to the separate head I put on top of it. I'm sure Aperture must have a tool to help me do that!  At least I hope so.

where do I review the iPhoto images
File -> Import -> Show iPhoto Browser

Sounds more like a job for Photoshop to me
if I decide to import entire iPhoto library into Aperture will it delete my iPhoto library?
    No.

  • Aperture sampes project with trial version?

Just downloaded the 1.5 trial version of Aperture, and apparently it does not include the samples project, correct? Or did I blow it on the install somehow?
I had hope to work with this for awhile till I got my feet wet.
    Thanks in advance.

Oh, yes, I see the sample project is just over 800MB. A lot to download.
If you are dedicated to learning Aperture, you could pick up the Apple Pro Training Series Aperture 1.5 book by Orlando Luna and Ben Long as it has sample projects on the CD that are used in the tutorials. The book is highly recommended for learning all the ins and outs of Aperture and would really give you a thorough idea of what you can do with the program.

  • Not able to import photos from Iphoto with the trial version of Aperture

I just downloaded the trial version of Aperture 3 and was trying to import my Iphoto library to work with some of the photos in Aperture.  When I go to File, Import, Iphoto library, the IPhoto Library is not able to be selected.
I can go into finder and see that I have an Iphoto Library and it opens with no problem, but for some reason I cannot import or open the library in Aperture, which makes me very hesitant to purchase the full version of the product.
    Any help is appreciated.

Sounds to me like you are not in the Import dialog box.
What happens if you select File->Import ...  ?
If that's not it, show us a screen capture.

    Han,
You should be able to install CC on a second computer, licensing rules allow you to install on two computers.
Please first try signing out and back in: https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/sign-in-out-creative-cloud-desktop-app.html
If you open an application that's part your Creative Cloud membership and you see a message stating you're running a trial, see this link:
