Aperture takes hours on quit

I have this problem since quite some time. I open Aperture, just look at some images and then I want to quit the program again, but it doesn't, it takes literally hours until it finally quits.
I tried restoring the whole thing from one of my vaults, in the hope to get rid of this problem, I moved the Aperture Library to the Shared User Folder to get it out of my User Folder (which is protected by FileVault to avoid any related problem that could be thinkable) but nothing helped.
Doing a dtruss -p on Aperture to see what Aperture is doing during that time reveals that Aperture is renaming files. Here I copy one of those blocks to show what is happening:
open("/Users/Shared/Aperture Library.aplibrary/Veranstaltungsfotos/auSnahmeZustand 1 - idragon.approject/09.06.2008, um 07:42:17 PM - 1.apimportgroup/_DSC4740/.dat150a.adc\0", 0xA02, 0x180) = 15 0
write(0xF, "<?xml version=\"1.0\" encoding=\"UTF-8\"?>\n<!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC \"-//Apple//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN\" \"http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd\">\n<plist version=\"1.0\">\n<dict>\n\t<key>createDate</key>\n\t<date>2008-06-09T17:46:28Z </date>\n\t<key>dateLastSavedInDataba", 0x914) = 2324 0
rename("/Users/Shared/Aperture Library.aplibrary/Veranstaltungsfotos/auSnahmeZustand 1 - idragon.approject/09.06.2008, um 07:42:17 PM - 1.apimportgroup/_DSC4740/.dat150a.adc\0", "/Users/Shared/Aperture Library.aplibrary/Veranstaltungsfotos/auSnahmeZustand 1 - idragon.approject/09.06.2008, um 07:42:17 PM - 1.apimportgroup/DSC4740/DSC4740.NEF.apfile\0") = 0 0
chmod(0xB04B0696, 0x81A4, 0x914) = 0 0
umask(0x0, 0x81A4, 0x914) = 18 0
umask(0x12, 0x81A4, 0x914) = 0 0
I have no idea why this renaming of (I guess all of my images) is really necessary on each quit, but that is exactly what seems to happen. What also appears curios to me, is that the order of file renamings does not follow any reasonable structure. The Program renames one image in one folder then in another than after a while in the first folder a.s.o. It's really odd.
To tell something about my configuration.
I use an Apple MacBook Pro with the Aperture Library that contains only previews and thumbs. The Library contains about 65000 images (most of them RAW image Files (NEF) from Nikon D1,D2 and D3), but also some JPGs, PSDs a.s.o.
The Original Images are located on a NAS System (Thecus via SMB). When working with Aperture everything works but on quit it starts the mess.
Hope anyone has an idea or at least the same problem, so I see I am not alone and Apple is aware of this bug.

I tried without the NAS beeing mounted and Aperture starts up in a seond and quits in a second. So it seems that availability of the originals is a case. Then I mounted the volume again and started Aperture and now Aperture is currently making the rename thing again. I really go mad here. Working without the originals is no alternative really. But if the problem is that the originals are located on a NAS I know what to do. I don't like it really, because having all originals on my Raid5 protected NAS is what I spend a lot of money for.

  • Mail Attachments can take hours to send and receive

I am not receiving attachments quickly through my .mac mail account. I have had individuals all over the country send me attachments to my .mac account, my aol account and my gmail account. All my other email accounts receive the attachments within seconds. The .mac account is taking forever to receive. This just started within the last 48 hours.
The same is occuring on sending email attachments. It takes over 20 minutes for a 1mb attachment to send to any receipient.
Does anybody have an idea on how to fix this? Is .mac updating their servers?

same problem with my .Mac Account over here !
it takes "hours" of buffering and copying.
    any idea ?
I suspect that much of your problem could be sending through the airport express modem which is quite a bit slower. I am using a ultra fast direct T1 line and still experience the problem. I really feel this is an apple situation. One day it is very slow on sending attachments the next it is 10 times faster for attachments.

  • Is it normal that rendering 18 minutes long 1080p movie takes hours?

    Hi
I've got a little question here. Im creating game clips with Premiere Pro.
Is it normal that it takes hours for 18 mins movie?
    Spec:
    i5 3570k @ 4.2 gHz
    MSI GTX 770 OC
    16 GB DDR3
    1.8TB WD Raid 0

Thanks for the grab, that is helpful, however what codec is the original footage? I see it's an .avi file, but what codec was used, what screen cap app? I notice the source is 1920x1033 and output is 1920x1080, so you're scaling and that takes extra power. I'd recommend editing in a 1920x1080 sequence, and turn off the "Max Render Quality", and also I don't see the purpose of using 2-Pass VBR encoding when Target and Max are the same, just use CBR in that case. These things should reduce render time quite a bit.
You can create a 1920x1080 sequence right now, then Copy/Paste contents of the 1920x1033 sequence into it, then try a CBR export (without Max Render checked)
    Thanks

  • Addressbooksync takes hours and eats memory, help!

Every time I sync my iPhone or iPad with iTunes, a program called addressbooksync is starting (I checked this in the Activity monitor) and starts to use all my 16 gb memory and after that even creating virtual memory on my drive. I assume this program is syncing my addressbook info but this can't be normal behavior. Here are some screenshots.
The itunes sync takes also a very long time while syncing the addressbook, this step takes about 1 hour:
The mac is getting very slow because of this and the only way out is the do a Quit Process on the AddressbookSync in the Monitor, but of course my addressbook will not be synced when doing this. Is there something I can do to fix this problem?

I am now having a variation of this problem in 10.7.5. It started when I went to System Prefs -> iCloud and turned on Sync. (Due to a Mac theft I have been running Contacts only via iCloud.com and my iOS stuff until today.)
Indeed, AddressBookSync eats up much RAM and then goes to Virtual memory and then comes back for more RAM. Everything stops working on the Mac. (It took me 1 hour to quit Mail, Safari and System Prefts, the only things running.) The only way I could post this was to Quit the Process in Activity Monitor, enabling me to uncheck the Sync. So I effectively have no Address Book/Contact app on my hard drive.
I'm posting this while I have the window of ability to do so.
    Not a happy camper.

  • Why does it take hours to import mp4 files into iMovie

I have some home movies I imported from VHS-C and compressed to mp4 files and now I want to start going through them in iMovie but it takes hours just to import a single clip (~575 meg).
What can I do to speed this up? Would getting a Mac Pro with loads of RAM and CPU's help? Would converting to a different video format before I import work?
Right now I have all this video I converted to digital and thus far spent days just importing and haven't been able to do anything with it yet!
I'm using an iMac core duo with 2 gig RAM and the upgraded video card (best one they had at the time).
    Any help is appreciated!

This worked fine for me, was exactly what I wanted.
1 - Create the project in iMovie HD and then save and close.
2 - Locate the file on your computer. Ctrl-click on the file and it will say "show package contents". Click on that.
3 - You will then see some folder items inside that. Open up "Media" and then drag and drop your mpeg file into it.
4 - When you reopen the project, you will be notified that there are files in your trash. You want to view them to find the file you just moved there.
5 - Take that file and drag it back onto the project and you're in.
    A major blessing!

  • When I am downloading songs it takes hours for it to finish?

I am having trouble downloading things from the itunes store. Even when I try to download my podcasts it doesn't goes though, it gives me an error 404 or the network timed out. It happened after I have updated my itunes. Any suggestions?

  • Takes hours and hours to update iphone

I have in iPhone and my husband has one and we were using one iTunes account (which was mine). When I go to update my husbands software it says it will take at least 80 hours to update. Mine only took 10minutes. After hours of trying to sort it out I gave up. Have since set up my husband with own apple I'd. But still it takes hours to update. What can I do to get my husbands iPhone updated. Shod I restore his phone and start frfrom scratch. I think iTunes is confused because we have same apps etc.

  • Elgato Game Capture HD Footage takes Hours to Import

First off, I use a late 2009 21.5 inch iMac with an Intel 3.06 Ghz core 2 Duo, 12 Gigs Ram, and an Nvidia Geforce, 9400 265 mb with Mountain Lion . And all drivers up to date.
I've been having this issue for a while and with the increased work load I have been taking on, its now becoming unbearable. Every time I import Elgato Hd Footage (720p 60 FPS at high to even lowest quality) The import can take hours, Almost as long and often longer than the video even is. I thought it was a codec problem, but I have a friends footage I'm also editing that I have to convert and it gets converted to mp4 with a h264 codec as well. (Image being added below) And his imports just in a few short minutes. I have tried converting my footage as well but this does not seem to help and the only other file format I can do is MKV which adobe doesn't seem to take.
My friend footage is in the properties to the left, and Mine are on thee right. I understand there is a difference in file size and duration, but it doesn't seem like it should be making this big of a difference, where his imports in about 2 minutes when mine is in hours. This even happens if I open up the project after saving, it takes hours for it to simply load up the video. I have also tried this with videos in smaller sizes and the results seem scaled almost the same.
Please i could really use some advice on what to try out here, cause I'm out of ideas.

You're going to notice a huge difference going from what you have to 12gb, I don't know how big a difference you'll notice from 12 to 16. The reason Apple doesn't "support" 32gb in iMacs is that they write the specs at the time the machine is released taking into account the available technology at that time. Apple doesn't update it's specs for existing machines when new tecnology becomes available. If Crucial and OWC say 32 will work you'll have no trouble by using it. You won't go wrong with Crucial, I've used them foerver. Enjoy your new ram whatever you end up getting. Run Activity Monitor now and check out the page outs you're getting and run it again after you upgrade and you'll really get a visual of the difference.

  • Slow Performance - Add/Modify Protectiongroup, Refresh Agent, ... take hours

    Hi all,
    I freshly installed DPM 2012 SP1 on a clean Windows Server 2012 (Intel Xeon E5-2609 @ 2,4Ghz, 16GB RAM).
The protection data gets stored on an internal RAID5 with 12TB. Firewall is disabled.
At this moment there are 39 protected datasources in 6 protection groups.
My problem is, that the easiest jobs take hours:
    - refresh of the protection agents (up to 2 hours)
    - press "finish" at the "modify protection group"-wizzard (more than 1 hour)
    - expand our Win2008R2 Failovercluster with 80 VMs at "new protection group"-wizzard (dont know how long it will take, until now i didnt get it expanded after hours of waiting...)
Under these circumstances DPM is not practicable!
Can anyone help? I have no idea how to troubleshoot this.
    Thank you!

    Hi
    Have you come right?
If you break up your protection groups do they refresh quicker? have you applied the latest rollups or upgraded to R2?

Why does Apple TV take hours to record movies?

Not sure what you mean by 'record movies'
If you are trying to rent a movie and it's taking a long time before it starts then that is due to your connection.
720P requires 6mbps for instant streaming
    1080P requires 8mbps
You can switch to SD in the settings
