Aperture Thumbnails Not Loading
Hi-
Have used Aperture for a long time. Today, when I was importing new photos via a card reader, the "preview" wheel just kept loading and now all the thumbnails for my entire Aperture library are "loading" and not appearing. I am unable to do anything in Aperture since the color wheel is spinning.
I was tempted to power off, since I cannot force quit, however, I am paranoid that my entire library is in jeopardy.
Thanks for any advice.. help!
Jane
Hi Jane,
A friend of mine has the same problem. We are trying to solve it.
In the meantime you can start Aperture and check the damage. If the new photos you want to adjust are grey when you want to work on them you have the same problem.
You can try to delete the corrupted project if thats the only one and than reimport the pics. Othorwise you have to restore your Aperture library from your timemachine or another backup.
Please let me know if it helps.
Regards,
Martin

Ok so I'm running CS6 and working on a project that has around 100 Canon XF clips (from a C300) in the project. I want to be able to scroll through my clips in the project window so that I can quickly grab certain shots without having to load them all into the source monitor.
When the project opens the thumbnails for the 12 or so clips currently being shown in the project window are automatically displayed fine, but when I scroll down the list the remaining thumnails only get created as those clips become visible in the project window, very frustrating! I have to scroll down a few clips at a time in order to try and get thumnails to display for all of the clips. To make matters worse, after about 50 of the clips have loaded thumnails the process just stops, I'm left with a whole bunch of grey squares in the project window leaving me to guess what the content may be thats hiding behind them.
I'm on a 12 core Mac Pro with 48 Gigs of Ram, and a CUDA enabled Nvidia Quadro GPU. The clips are all located on an internal SSD drive with caches stored on a second SSD drive. The machine is at idle during this whole process with barely any load visible so why are these thumnails proving to be such a problem for my machine to display?
Thanks
PaulHi - Firefox, Safari and Ebay thumbnails not loading.
Suffered from this problem ever since upgrading to Snow Leopard.
I can confirm by turning off my Belkin Routers firewall ... and double checking my Macs firewall is on and up to scratch, has cured this most frustrating problem.
So I must surmise, that the bug is in Snow Leopard. Cant really blame Belkin. Apple needs to address this problem in their next upgrade as it has wasted countless hours. It worked before ... but not after upgrade.
I'd feel a lot happier though if my main router (Belkin) had its firewall on as well.
Lets see what happens next! Hope this helps. -
After loading the latest Aperture 3 update, aperture will not load and it appears to have corrupted 10.6.7. and now appears to be missing from the computer and my administrator status has changed to standard. Update Software says I need to do update to 10.6.7 which I can't do because administrator privileges are gone. I didn't back-up with Time Machine ,BAD, but I have all files backed-up on another hard drive. Should I just reformat and start over? Any ideas or help would be appreciated.
PROBLEM SOLVED! For me at least!
Apple Support gave me the clue - I had run Migration Assistant, and it had obligingly replaced a system file (/Library/Frameworks/PluginManager.framework/Versions/B/PluginManager) with the equivalent from my old system.
I reinstalled 10.6.7 using the DVD supplied and all is well.
The moral is - don't use Migration Assistant.
Along the way Apple Support provided me with a link to download Combo update 10.6.7: this could not be installed on my iMac.
Hope this helps. -
I have been using Aperture for a while on my MacPro desktop computer, today I put my memory card in and usually Aperture would load, however no response. I tried manually opening the program and the dock icon just bounced once and then gave up. I tried loading the program directly from the applications folder, but the same problem arrouse, I also tried copying the application and opening it but the problem still stayed. I tried logging out, shutting down, restarting, disconnecting from the internet, nothing seems to fix the problem. I tried loading it without the memory card also so i don't think that is the problem.
Does anyone know how to resolve this problem?
Thanks
Graeme
MacPro Mac OS X (10.4.8)Ok so the upgrade didn't help, still the same problem, i have moved my library to another computer, so everything related to aperture should be brand new today, i've got the feeling something is hiding somewhere because when i install its doing it very quickly and saying "upgrade" rather than "install".
here is the stuff from the console after i tried to open Aperture:

So, here's a problem I'm having (something that's never been a problem before).<br /><br />On my testing server, I have a recrodset grab image data from the DB:<br /><br />print_id<br />print_desc<br />print_image<br />print_order<br /><br />I want the image to show as a thumbnail, so I use the "show thumbnail" command and locate the image directory, resize to 100x100.<br /><br />// Show Dynamic Thumbnail<br />$objDynamicThumb1 = new tNG_DynamicThumbnail("../../../", "KT_thumbnail1");<br />$objDynamicThumb1->setFolder("../../../images/dy/prints/");<br />$objDynamicThumb1->setRenameRule("{getPrint.print_image}");<br />$objDynamicThumb1->setResize(100, 100, true);<br />$objDynamicThumb1->setWatermark(false);<br /><br /> <tr><br /> <td><img src="<?php echo $objDynamicThumb1->Execute(); ?>" alt="<?php echo $row_getPrint['print_desc']; ?>" border="0" /></td><br /> <td><?php echo $row_getPrint['print_order']; ?></td><br /> <td><?php echo $row_getPrint['print_desc']; ?></td><br /> <td><a href="edit_print.php?print_id=<?php echo $row_getPrint['print_id']; ?>">edit</a></td><br /> <td><a href="delete_print.php?print_id=<?php echo $row_getPrint['print_id']; ?>">delete</a></td><br /> </tr><br /><br />What's happening is no thumbnail is showing when I load the page in the browser. Hi Chris,
better post code which contains html elements as .txt file on your server -- these forums can´t handle that and turn it into a big mess
Is this a permission problem with the directory?
most probably. Please have a look at "includes/common/KT_config_inc.php" -- what values are currently defined for the variables KT_folder_mode and KT_file_mode ?

Google Image Thumbnails not Loading
As in the title, Google image thumbnails are appearing as blank space on my macbook pro. Please help.
HI,
From the Safari Menu Bar click Safari/Preferences then select the Appearance tab. Make sure: *Display images when the page opens* is selected.
If that box was already checked, from the Safari Menu Bar, click Safari / Reset Safari. Select the top 7 buttons and click Reset. Relaunch Safari. If Google thumbnails are still not loading ..
Go to the Safari Menu Bar, click Safari/Preferences. Make note of all the preferences under each tab. Quit Safari. Now go to ~/Library/Preferences and move this file com.apple.safari.plist to the Desktop.
Relaunch Safari and see if that makes a difference. If not, move the .plist file back to the Preferences folder. If Safari functions as it should, move that .plist file to the Trash.
And repair permissions.
Launch Disk Utility. (Applications/Utilities) Select MacintoshHD in the panel on the left, select the FirstAid tab. Click: Repair Disk Permissions. When it's finished from the Menu Bar, Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac. If you see a long list of "messages" in the permissions window, it's ok. That can be ignored. As long as you see, "Permissions Repair Complete" when it's finished... you're done. Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac.

Aperture 2 not loading thumbnails...
...and moving very slow.
Recently I was using Aperture 2 (haven't upgraded since I just bought A2 in January) on my Macbook (3 year-old black one running Leopard) and Aperture was running fine, albeit slow since I was trying to edit around 400+ shots from a recent trip. Because of speed and memory issues, I decided it was time for an upgrade.
I purchased a new iMac with a 3.06 GHz processor and 4GB of RAM hoping that it would speed up the process.
All of my photos were stored on an external hard drive.
I've been trying to import the photos from the hard drive, but when I do I get no thumbnails and when clicked on, most of the photos are showing up blank. There's meta data on the photos, just no picture.
I tried importing the photos directly from my camera, but I'm having the same issue.
I removed and reinstalled A2 and am having the same problem.
Apparently A2 functions better on my MacBook!
Someone help...
Thanks.Reposting...hoping someone can help out or send me in the right direction.

Thumbnails not loading, crashing in Premiere CS5.5
I'm working with a ton of Apple XDCAM EX 1920x1080 files. It was shot over the course of five days, organized by day and then each day has folders for each card. I'm importing all the footage into Premiere CS5.5. Because there is so much footage I like to look at things in thumbnail view to quickly see what's what. But, starting in Day four and going into Day 5, the clips stop loading thumbnails. When I click on some of these "blank" clips, Premiere freezes up and crashes.
I have an older build of CS6 (my company has yet to actually BUY CS6) and the problem doesn't happen. All the clips have thumbnails. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance for your help.I'm working on a 2010 Mac Pro, OSX 10.6.8, with Premiere 5.5.2. The issue is happening in the Project panel. Nothing has been added to the timeline (but the Sequence settings are Sony XDCAM HD 1080p, 23.976fps). The crash is indeed from a corrupt file, but it was only one. The rest play back fine in the Source monitor, no crashing, just no thumbnails.
For testing, I opened a new project in FCP and all the thumbnails show up and it even plays back the corrupt file. And, as I said, they show up in an older CS6 build of Premiere.
It's not THAT big of a deal, just a minor frustration. Wanted to see if its happened to anyone else. Thanks guys! -
Thumbnails not loading in "Events"
Hi friends...when I click on a specific event, all the pictures associated with the event no longer come up in a thumbnail format. I can make my way through all the pictures by using the arrow keys but I cannot see them all in a glance. What did I do? And How do I undo it?
Thanks in advance!PR
Welcome to the Apple user discussion forums
Look to the lower right for the little slider - slide it to the left and the size of the thumbnails will reduce showing more and more and more of them -quit sliding when you see as many as you want

New iMac and Aperture not loading .CR2 files? Any ideas?
Hi, I have recently upgraded from a 2009 MBP (running 10.6) to a 27" iMac. What I am finding is that after migrating my applications Aperture will not load/show my CR2 files. It says they are an unsupported format. Any ideas for a solution? These files are stored on an external drive and open fine in photoshop CS5... I have tried installing Camera Raw 6.4.1 updater... PLEASE HELP! Thanks
Reinstalling Aperture may work but as the RAW conversion is external to Aperture (all Apple programs that can work with RAW filles use the same conversion process) I'm not sure it's going to help.
If re-installing Aperture doesn;t fix the problem have a look in /System/Library/CoreServices for two bundles:
CoreTypes.bundle
RawCamera.bundle
Highlight each in turn and do a Get Info. The CoresTypes.bundle showuld be version 301.21 and the RawCamera..bumdle should be 3.9
If you still have the problem post back.
good luck -
Have followed guidelines on Apple's support pages and uninstalled and reinstalled aperture from the app store two times but when I go to load Aperture it comes up with an error message saying it has a fault with the operating system and I need to reinstall it. Any suggestions how to fix this?

Thumbnails will not load in elements 12 organizer, using windows 8.1
The thumbnails will not load (hourglass icon appears on each photo) on Elements 12 using Windows 8.1. I have updated the Elements to Core Version 12.1. Any ideas how to fix this?
I'm sure that when I close the browser in either OS before switching to the other, the following two conditions are true in the Advanced tab of the Firefox Preferences menu:
1) "Use autoscrolling" is enabled (with a check mark)
2) "Always check to see if Firefox is the default browser on startup" is disabled (no check mark)
The autoscrolling feature allows you to scroll by holding down the middle mouse button and moving the mouse up and down. The extension you linked to, ScrollyFox, enables scrolling by clicking a button in the Firefox UI, which is quite a different feature. So unfortunately the problems still remain. -
Why do my thumbnails not all load on a page like they used to before the last Firefox update?
I used to love firefox and used it exclusively as my web browser. But ever since the last update to version 3.6.15 the thumbnails on the websites I ALWAYS visit no longer all load!
Some of the thumbnails load and some don't. If I close firefox and go back to the same page I may get some of the thumbnails to load that didn't before but others that DID load before don't this time.
This same problem happens at other sites as well.
So, I gave up using firefox and switched back to IE because it works properly at least though I don't like it as much as firefox.
I wish they hadn't tried to fix something that wasn't broken because now it is broken!See:

Did you check your security software (firewall)?
A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process.

I cant open album pictures on facebook on my computer, but i can on others. I can see pictures thumbnail size, so I can still see pictures, but when I go to open them to see them full size it will not load or show up.
Check the image exceptions: Tools > Options > Content: Load Images: Exceptions - See [[Options window - Content panel]]
A way to see which images are blocked is to click the favicon (<i>Site Identification</i> icon) on the left side of the location bar.<br \>
A click on the "More Information" button will open the Security tab of the "Page Info" window (also accessible via "Tools > Page Info").<br \>
Open the <i>Media</i> tab of the "Page Info" window.<br \>
Select the first image and scroll down though the list with the Down arrow key.<br \>
If an image in the list is grayed and there is a check-mark in the box "<i>Block Images from...</i>" then remove that mark to unblock the images from that domain.<br \>
