Aperture to Photoshop Issue When ReOpening Edited TIF via Keyboard

I have a perplexing Aperture problem. I'm using Aperture 2.1.4 as I haven't upgraded to vs3 yet. Here's my situation:
1) Aperture keyboard shortcut to open edit / open an image version as TIF in Photoshop is: Cmd + Shft + O
2) I edit my photo in PS, save, close file and return to Aperture where the revised TIF thumbnail updates its appearance.
3) Here's the perplexing part. Sometimes I wish to re-open my edited TIF in PS to continue editing the file. If I press the keyboard shortcut again (Cmd + Shft + O) it creates a new version in Aperture and opens that TIF copy up in PS, instead of my original edited TIF.
But if, instead, I right click in Aperture on my 1st edited TIF and choose Edit With > Photoshop, then the first edited TIF opens up as expected in PS.
Any ideas why?

Exporting Photos From Aperture to Photoshop Elements for Layer-Editing

Back when I paired iPhoto with PSE to do layer editing, it was easy to export the first layer-picture from iPhoto, then click-and-drag the second photo directly on top of the first in PSE, then 'stretch to fit'.
I've since moved to Aperture 3, and although I can 'edit in Photoshop Elements' the first picture, I can't drag or export so that it superimposes ready for opacity adjustment and effects...

What happens if you select both images in Aperture, and then click to Edit in External Editor?

LR edit in PS when save -edit.tif

Hi everyone,
I'm newbie and I'm having a problem when I do the following workflow:
Import Photos to LR
Edit in LR
Edit in PS (through LR (cmd + e))
After edit in PS then cmd + S when I back to LR there is a new file in my gallery with a #2 and the name is the same of my RAW file but with suffix "-edit.tif"
I wish edit and save the original RAW file not a copy

PS 14.2.1

You cannot edit a raw file in Photoshop and save back to the raw file, only to a new file, which is why there is a -edit.tif version of the file.
Lightroom is a non-destructive editor so the original file plus the edits in LR or the XMP constitute the changes you see in LR. Photoshop is a destructive editor, so the pixels of the file are actually changed in the image file, rather than instructions being stored in an XMP file.
The types of edits you can do in LR are different than what is done in PS so choose what you do in each, and expect two different files if you use both to work on a photo.

LR hangs when after editing .tif image try to edit .NEF file

Open LR CC
Edit .tif file created by PS CC trial
Go back to the grid of thumbnails
Edit (try) a .NEF
I am working with a catalog ex LR 5.4
This is the four time in a row that happens this. Both photos are "normal" files (neither smart preview nor virtual copy).
As a side observation. The CC application starter shows "0 days remaining"!! Which is not possible because LR CC was released few days ago. However, in the LR screen shot above, it says "29 days left..."
I have tried disabling my antivirus software (ESET Smart Security v8) without success.
Solved!
PS CC hang up and during restarting it told me it was because a Graphic Card error, and it has disabled it. I have disabled the Graphic Card, also in LR, and I am not having problems so far.

Hi,
Next time you encounter similar problem, please check that that the space bar is not stuck. Also verify that hand tool is active even if any other tool is selected.
Space bar is a shortcut for Hand tool any time with any tool active.

Faces issue when selecting 'edit with CS4' (or any other external editor)

Ok, so I have a work flow where I effectively use Nik Plugins. I have the complete set so that i can use them in Aperture and CS4. I correct exposure and white balance and crop in Aperture but then have automators set up in CS4 to apply Nik plugin effects via a batch change process ie no manual adjustments needed, start the batch and come back 20 mins later. Anyway thats somewhat irrelevant....
Once stage one is done in Aperture I select faces and see that all looks fine. Suggestions appear over faces etc as you'd expect. BUT if I then select edit with CS4 (via right click) on that image it creates a duplicate image (as its non-destructive) and opens it in CS4. Fine. But if you go in to Aperture the faces on this duplicate image are now all messed up. They are not at all over peoples faces but seemingly in random places. Right click and selecting detect faces does nothing. So in summary if I edit anything with CS4 and hit save so that the changes appear in Aperture then hit faces to tag people I have to effectively start from scratch and delete all the faces (not over peoples faces) and add new faces.

Can someone else confirm they have this issue at all first off to see if it is a specific issue to myself or a generic Aperture issue?
After that I guess we can proceed with troubleshooting and solutions.
PS I have repaired my library and rebuilt it and have upgraded Aperture to the latest 3.2.2 (released today / yesterday but note the issue was found under 3.2.1 so its not a 3.2.2 specific issue).

Maybe I should have made it clearer in my original post. The 1st paragraph was just for colour. The fact of using Nik has nothing to do with the issue. The below quote is the issue:

Thus the issue is generated by merely selecting Edit with CS4. ie no editing done in CS4 and not even saved in CS4. Just selecting edit with CS4 in Aperture creates the duplicate image in Aperture (and sends it to CS4 but lets assume we do nothing with it there at all) but creates a duplicate with face tags in the wrong places.
After further investigation I changed my external editing software option in preferences to Pixelmator and the same issue occurs.
So to replicate the issue in my place there are 2 simple steps that I need to make (and would like tested by someone else):
1. Tag some peoples faces in an Aperture image
2. Select edit with (any external editor)
Then go back in to Aperture (immediately) and select faces on the duplicate image created and see if the faces are in the correct position.
Note I have my external editor set to TIFF 8 Bit 300dpi using Adobe RGB colour space.

Does anyone have an issue when they edit a pic using the built in editor on the 4s; and when you upload the edited pic or send it, the original one is sent. i even double check my photo in my album and it shows the edited pic

i have even double checked the album and the album has the EDITED pic but for some reason when uploaded or sent the original is what goes thru... makes me very irritated! not sure if its a setting or some bug... any suggestions???

I think it depends on how you share it. Sometimes when I email it to myself it retains the edits, but I read that when people sync their phone it sometimes does not.

Date formatting issue when sending excel file via mail

I am facing date issue .
I have inetrnal format of date as yyyymmdd.
I am converting it into YYYY-MM-DD.
CONCATENATE gs_output-end_date(4)
                    gs_output-end_date+4(2)
                    gs_output-end_date+6(2)
                    INTO lv_date_to SEPARATED BY gc_seperator. " gc_separator = '-'.
        gs_output-end_date = lv_date_to.
I am writing this date and sending an excel file via MAIL . I get date result as MM/DD/YYYY always.
Now if i pass in YYYY.MM.DD and used the same code where gc_separtor = '.'.
I get output as YYYY.MM.DD.
Can any one give me an idea why in format YYYY-MM-DD it is getting overwritten but for yyyy.mm.dd it gives me as yyyy.mm.dd?

I have change my date format in SU01 settings .
It is now made to [ YYYY-MM-DD] but still '-' is replaced by MM/DD/YYYY.
Also note that when i format in the following way
   CONCATENATE gs_output-rdadate(4)
                    gs_output-rdadate+4(2)
                    gs_output-rdadate+6(2)
                    INTO lv_rda_date.
instead of
   CONCATENATE gs_output-rdadate(4)
                    gs_output-rdadate+4(2)
                    gs_output-rdadate+6(2)
                    INTO lv_rda_date sepearted by '-'.
I get output as YYYYMMDD.

Strange audio issue when running render queue via script.

The issue I'm having with AE is odd, and I'm hoping someone may be able to shed light on the matter. I have a very simple composition that, when I render out using the GUI, everything works as expected. The video renders fine, the audio renders fine, etc. However, when I invoke a script that runs the .aep file, sets the render queue for the composition in question, and then renders it, only the video comes through, but no audio. There is nothing in my script prior to the setting up of the render queue that alters any audio layers (i.e. no code shutting off audio, etc.) Has anybody ever encountered this? The audio file is a .wav in 44.1KHz, 16bit, stereo, and will try other formats to see if the problem might with the file itself? Although, I don't see how that would be the case if it is rendering just fine via the GUI.
Any help you can offer for troubleshooting would be great! Thanks for your help and time!

Thanks for your suggestion. It wasn't the output module. I created a custom template for it and ensured the audio was checked. It was an odd fix. I deleted the audio layer, then dragged it back to the timline. Then, it worked. Cost me like two hours of work for that, and I should have checked it earlier. But I still don't know why the original wasn't working.

HT201177 How can I resolve the HDCP issues when playing 1080p video via HDMI to my HDTV?

Palying back any video (iTunes 1080p purchase, Netflix) via the HDMI port results in screen issues on my HDTV. FLickering, odd noises, etc. I did get a HDCP warning but my TV is HDCP compliant. Any ideas? Thanks.

Not that I could find.
The easiest workaround that I could find is a trimmed piece of Black Construction Paper taped over the Mac's display.
Alternatively, you could use an external Mac Compatible Web Cameras and then close the lid, but that is a higher cost option.

Via MB1C tx, am posting the Goods Receipt (with out PO type) & MBLNR_1 is creating in MKPF.
But, when I saw the Doc type in MKPF for this MBLNR_1, it showing the doc type as Goods Issue type???
pls. clarify me, Why SAP showing it as Goods Issue?

Since the default document type is maintained in the IMG is WA which is for goods issue . it will reflect as goods issue only.
if u dont want this to happen then Go to the tcode OMBA and select good receipt document type ,
Against the toced MB1C,change the documet type as "WE"which is goods receipts.

When want to clear a bank account at the month end via FB1S, we found the document is quite strange. (This bank account is for a foreign currency.)
001 40 xxxx1 the bank account                  1000 USD(foreign currency)
002 50 xxxx1 the bank account                  1000 USD(foreign currency)
003 50 xxxx1 the bank account                   0 USD(foreign currency)
004 40 xxxx2 the account for exch dif loss   0 USD(foreign currency)
For items 001,002 and 004 in this document, they are OK, I can understand. but for line item 003, it's quite strange. why does it come out?

ICal Leopard: can't access all fields in edit dialog via keyboard

Any clues on using the keyboard to access all the fields in the event edit dialog?
In iCal Tiger, you could tab between all fields - in Leopard tabbing seems to bypass some fields (the all day checkbox for instance).
Annoying.

I don't have a solution, but whoever decided to make these changes to iCal must not use iCal that much because it's driving me up the walls. I have to go through and look at many ical appointments and compare them, make notes, etc... and now I can't just see the information, I have to double-click on EVERY item just to see the information? Where is the logic in this? I want my drawer back!

Image Bands/Corruption in Photoshop CS5 When Editing from Aperture

I'm having some problems when editing Aperture images in Photoshop. When I choose an image I want to edit, it opens in PS CS5 with bands of corruption in the image. Now, I hate to use the term corruption, because when I zoom the image to 100%, the bands disappear, so the image isn't truly corrupted. I'm using Aperture 3.1.1 with RAW image formats and using an Aperture-managed library, not referenced. I've tried opening in Photoshop with both TIFF and PSD 16-bit formats with identical results. I'm using the high performance energy saver setting, to enable my NVIDIA GeForce 9600m video card in my first gen unibody MacBook Pro. I'm using version 12.0.2 of Photoshop CS5.
I'm getting no help on the Adobe boards, so was hoping someone over here had some ideas or thoughts on how to fix this. Anyone?

I'm just getting back to check on this thread now, but this does appear to fix the problem. I hate to call this "solved" because it's clearly a bug that exists, but it's nice that there's a workaround. I was just about to look at moving to Lightroom. I should be able to live with this.

Editing in Photoshop Elements 9 (tiff and tif)

Last week at the end I moved to Aperture. Now I've some problem when I edit with Photoshop Elements 9.
I've setted Aperture to transfer a 8 bit tiff to photoshop now Aperture tranfer a .tiff file to photoshop and when i save (not save as) photoshop save back a .tif file that obvisioly Aperture don't see..
There is a way in Aperture to set to export a .tif or in photoshop to save a .tiff; I know it is just a matter to remember to add an "f" before saving but it is so easy to forgot....

Only your camera can save as NEF. It's not even a file, really, a Raw is just the dump of the data from your camera sensor.
When you process (or edit) a Raw it has to be saved as something else - in this case a Jpeg.
You can choose tiff in the Preferences if you prefer.
But there is no way to edit a raw file and then send it, as a raw, to another editor on any system.
You can also process your Raw with a 3rd Party app like ACR or Photoshop. But iPhoto does not handle this gracefully and it's a bit of a kludge.
First off set your preferred app as an external editor in iPhoto:
You can set Photoshop (or any image editor) as an external editor in iPhoto. (Preferences -> General -> Edit Photo: Choose from the Drop Down Menu.) This way, when you double click a pic to edit in iPhoto it will open automatically in Photoshop or your Image Editor, and when you save it it's sent back to iPhoto automatically. This is the only way that edits made in another application will be displayed in iPhoto.
Note that iPhoto sends a copy+ of the file to Photoshop, so when you save be sure to use the Save command, not Save As... If you use Save As then you're creating a new file and iPhoto has no way of knowing about this new file. iPhoto is preserving your original anyway.
Next: In the iPhoto Preferences -> Advanced, elect to use Raw with your External editor:

Now when you go to edit the Raw it will be sent to your external editor.
Now for the kludge:
You cannot save a Raw. The work you do must be output to a new file, in a new format (jepg, tiff, whatever). However, as the External Editor is making this new file iPhoto has no knowledge of its existence. Therefore you *must save it to the desktop and then import it back to iPhoto as a new file*.
This means that you will have your Original Raw and the processed version in iPhoto but they will not be recognised as version and original. iPhoto will see them as two separate shots.
