Aperture Trial no GF 1 support?

Lumix GF 1 files come up as unsupported in Aperture 3 Trial. Is there an update or work around for this ?

Did you also install the Digital Camera Raw 3.1 update? That's when support for the GF1 was added.

  • Aperture Trial - 1.5.1 Upgrade Breaks It?

Ok, so I was really pumped to see the Aperture trial and the D80 support today since I was waiting on the D80 before I bought Aperture. And the trial was just gravy!
So, I installed the trial, loaded it up and entered the trial serial number. Everything fine. Then, SW Update tells me I have an update to 1.5.1 for Aperture. So, of course I installed it and now the trial serial number is not valid and it continually asks me for a proper serial number. I am removing and reinstalling now, but at least in my case I would suggest that any trial users not upgrade to 1.5.1.
    Any one else seeing this?

    Same here.
I was hitting some issues with the demo, and was pleased to see that the update was supposed to fix them so I could give it a fair trial.
But on first launch after installing the update, I was asked for a serial number; I entered the one I was emailed with the demo and got a dialog box reading "You have entered an upgrade serial number. Please enter your original serial number." Without this missing number, the app won't launch.
Oh, well, it was fun while it lasted. But I don't want to reinstall v1.5 because if I demo it for my boss (which would be required to get the purchase approved) he would notice the problems and question my recommendation. Judging from the list of fixes, v1.5.1 would resolve many of those problems, but I can't run it.
    Any suggestions? Thanks...

  • How do I remove Aperture trial and go back to iPhoto (be kind, I'm new).

How do I remove the Aperture trial and go back to iPhoto.  For my usage (just iPhone pics/movies) iPhoto is okay for me, but now I cannot figure out how to remove Aperture, when I drag to Trash I get a warning that Aperture is a system file.
Please help, but also, please go slow if you can help, I am new to my Mac.

Should be pretty easy as follows:
1 - Make sure you have copies of any pictures you want that are inside Aperture somewhere on your computer.
2 - Quit Aperture > Remove any Aperture icon from dock > drag the Aperture program (lens icon) from Applications folder to the Trash > proceed through any warning dialog (including entering password as required) to complete the process.
Note - new security features in OS X Lion may present those warning dialogs to prevent accidental deletion of Apple programs.
3 - Hold down the 'Option' key and use the 'Go' menu in menu bar and select the 'Library' option.
4 - In the Library folder, open the 'Application Support' folder and delete any Aperture folder found.
5 - While still in the Library folder, open the 'Preferences' folder and delete both the 'com.apple.Aperture.plist' and 'com.apple.Aperture.plist.lockfile' file.
6 - While still in the Library folder, open the 'Caches' folder and delete the 'com.apple.Aperture' folder.
7 - Go the your 'Pictures' folder and drag the 'Aperture Library' (may be named Aperture Trial Library or similar) to the Trash to delete it as well.
8 - Empty the Finder Trash to remove Aperture.
Note - there are some files and Aperture folders in the '/Library' folder (which is in the root of your system drive), but you don't really need to remove those. Since you are a beginner, it is probably better not to for now.
    That should do it.
Additional edit: There are two Library folders I am referring to. The first is the one in your user account 'Home' folder which is the one you are going to by using the 'Go' menu. This is the one you are deleting files from in the steps listed. The second Library folder is the one in the root of your system drive and is not typically a location for beginners to work with (thus the final note above). Hope that is clear enough.

  • Aperture trial version

hello ! so I'm wondering if there is some "bugs" or not in the aperture trial version (1.5.2)
To me, the searching daesn't work at all, and same in the path correcting...
I known my PB G4 17 got old but is that all ?

There used to be, but the Trial version has been discontinued, sorry.
You can see see, what Aperture can do from the
    Aperture 3 User Manual
or the video tutorials on the Support page: http://www.apple.com/support/aperture/
Or visit an Apple store and try it out.

And you may want to send Apple feedback, that a Trial version is necessary for a "Pro" application: http://www.apple.com/feedback/aperture.html

  • Aperture trial un-install query

Having used the trial version of Aperture and been somewhat underwhelmed, I'm now getting error messages about being short on hard disk space. I have therefore dragged the Aperture application into the Trash but there is no discernible space saving. Could someone please spell out for me what libraries I can safely delete as with my limited knowledge it appears that my whole iPhoto library has been duplicated - hence the many gigabytes of space consumed.
    Many thanks in anticipation.

    Hi Scott,
Sorry to hear you are underwhelmed.
when you imported iPhoto, it sounds like you imported it physically vs. logically, hence the duplication of space. To get the space back, go to Picture and trash the file aperture library.aplibrary. Once the trash is emptied, you'll have your space back.
Aperture has a couple of support files elsewhere, but they only amount to a couple of Mb, and may as well be left
    Library/Receipts/Aperture ....blah.pkg
    user/Library/Preferences/com.apple.Aperture.plist

  • Aperture trial version and Tiger

I'm looking for an Aperture trial version which works on a G4 and Tiger.
The current version of Aperture doesn't.
    Can anyone help me?
    R2L

I am currently having the same issue. I would like to try Aperture but my operating system does not support Aperture 3. I am looking to download a trial version for Aperture 2 but haven't had any luck. Did you manage to find a trial version?
I recently downloaded a trial version of Lightroom to try - had the same issue, needed an older version to work with my operating system. I managed to find one through the Apple site, but I am not having luck finding one for Aperture.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

  • "one or more of the items in your selection contains Aperture albums that are not supported in iphoto".

I have some folders in iPhoto called 'Recovered Folder'. When I try to delete them I get this message: "one or more of the items in your selection contains Aperture albums that are not supported in iphoto".
I don't use Aperture (did install it to try it out), and have deleted Aperture App from my Mac.
How can I get rid of these fodlers?

    i finally figured this out:
fyi, iphoto and aperture can now share (i.e., access) the same library. apple details it here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5260?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US
i use both iphoto and aperture, and i suspect something went amiss, at some point, while aperture was accessing my iphoto library.
this is how i fixed the problem:
i launched aperture, then (per the instructions linked above) switched to (i.e., accessed) my iphoto library. i was then able to delete the "recovered folder" and the album it contained. i then quit aperture and relaunched iphoto.
NOTE: at that time, although i expected the "recovered folder" to be gone, it was still present. but this time, i was able to delete the folder from within iphoto without the "contains aperture items" error message.
(Sparky030405, i realize you've since deleted aperture. while i can't say my method is the *only* way to solve this problem, it's the way i was able to solve it. so, you might consider reinstalling aperture in order to delete the folder, then uninstalling aperture, once again.)

  • Error opening the database for the library "~/Pictures/Aperture Trial Library.aplibrary" error message

When starting up Aperature 3 I get the following Error Message :
"There was an error opening the database for the library “~/Pictures/Aperture Trial Library.aplibrary”.
I can't di a thing except Quit. I have restored from Time Machine and reloaded the Software from Disk. Still get the same message. Any suggestions Are appreciated.
    Jim

    Hello Jim,
I assume you trial Aperture Library is in your "Pictures" folder? Try to rename it to something like "OldApertureTrialLibrary.aplibrary", to force Aperture to create a new Application Library.
To rename the old Trial Library, select it in the Finder and enter Command(⌘)-I (short for File-> Get Info). Click on the file name text field and enter a new name.
Possibly you get this error message message, because there is some permissions problem. If you are not allowed to rename the file, click on the padlock in the lower right corner, authentificate as admin and give yourself read/write access to the trial library (in the "Sharing & Permissions" brick of the "Get Info" panel).
Post back, if your "ApertureTrialLibrary.aplibrary" contains valuable images that you would like to save or if this does not work and you need further advice.
    Regards

  • Aperture Trial loaded but will not accept the emailed serial number

I downloaded the aperture trial, and received an email with the serial number to activate the trial but i keep being told the serial number is invalid!
I am concerned that my trial is counting down, and i cannot access it... can i register for another serial number or should i get help with getting this one working?

Serial number issues are most often related to typing it incorrectly. Either an accidental typo or confusing a zero with the letter "O". The best way to enter the serial number is to copy it from the email and paste it into Aperture.

  • Aperture trial to full version

I have been using the aperture trial for 26 days, and I'm gonna get the full version, my question is, should I get the box, or the activation code. I ask this because I have some projects set up as well as a vault and I don't know if when the trial ends, I'll lose this stuff. Will that happen...also, is the documentation that important? I bought the Apple Pro Training series book, Getting Started with Aperture...do I need everything else that is bundled? Thanks
    1.83 ghz 2gb RAM MacBook Pro 100gb hd + 250gb external hd   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

And if all else fails, just backup ApertureTrial.dmg to a CD. (132MMB dmg will fit on a 700MB CD easily) That's version 1.5.0. Then just download the update and you're back.
Actually you might be able to download the updater as a standalone and back that up on the same CD.

  • Aperture trial serial number not valid

Apple sent me a mail: Try Aperture for free.
Unhappily the serial number Apple ([email protected]) has sent to me for Aperture Trial is not valid!
Was that a spam? Does Apple want that nobody try Aperture? What can I do?
    iMac's   Mac OS X (10.4.8)
    iMac's   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

I have a similar problem. I installed the trial, and
it worked okay, until I updated it through Software
Update. So I trashed the program and thought I would
reinstall the version which was linked in the e-mail
that contained my serial number. Now I can't
reinstall it because it says that it was installed
    before.
    Grrrrrrrrrrr...
If you want to reinstall you have to delete the aperture files in system/receipts. These files tell the system what has been installed and will not allow a reinstall if they are present.
    Hope this is understandable?
    Best

  • Can't download Aperture trial version

If somebody could help me I would be very grateful as the search I did on this category didn't provide any answers.
I want to download Aperture trial from the Apple site, but every time I click the download a new Tab opens with an empty window and the address is: "http://appldnld.apple.com.edgesuite.net/content.info.apple.com/Aperture/061-61 41.20090408.TR0r2/Aperture2.1.3Trial.dmg"
I already got three serial numbers and I still can't download and I have no ideas left.
    Thank you in advance.
    Best regards,
    Daniel

Thank you for trying. I have found the problem. It's Intego AntiVirus Banner filter, who would imagine?!
I stopped all other filters, but not that one, and now when I turned Intego completely off it started working.

  • Aperture 2.0 won't use my "Aperture Trial Library"

For some reason, Aperture 2.0 is suddenly now asking me each time I open it if I want to create a NEW trial library. I can't get it to open the Trial library I already made with it! At this point, I'm stuck. I've got an "Aperture Trial Library" that I made when I first opened Aperture 2.0, but it's now worthless.
Anyone else experience this? Any fix?

I finally just upgraded. Of course, that fixed it.

  • Restarting/Resetting the Aperture Trial

    Hi all,
Back in August I bought a MacBook Pro which came loaded with a trial version of Aperture. Through reasons which may have been accident or my own stupidity, I ended up starting the 30-day trial. Unfortunately I then went on my honeymoon to New Zealand for over a month. So life has settled down, and I'm ready to go through the 6000+ photos I took while in New Zealand, and I now find a need to evaluate Aperture - I wouldn't be a power user (yet) but iPhoto just doesn't cut it for me.
I tried downloading a new trial key, however it won't allow me to start a new trial - which I guess is the whole point. I've phoned after-sales about it and they were unhelpful. However last night I had a call from Apple asking me how my new MBP was working out, and I mentioned this issue. So the guy suggested I check with the Apple Discussions site. I've followed the advice in this post: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=5130341 but removing the license key file doesn't seem to help me out.
So I write here in the hope that someone may have more advice for me - I really want to try this software out! Is there something I missed in the original post (for example the name of the license key file - maybe it was discretion that led the other poster to not mention it directly so I'll try to be discrete too!)
    Many thanks,
    Maurice Kelly

When yu did the update from Lepoard to Snow Lepoard  did you do a clean install of the OS or did you update in place? As long as you did not do a clean install then the upgarde wouldnot have touched any user files.
You keep mentioning external drives, plural, how many are there? You wrote then when she was traveling she would import to the MBP's  Aperture library and then mention finding many of thede images on extenal disks. Did she have a disk(s) with her when she traveled?
Then you mention an Aperture Trial library, why? If she has been using Aperture for years why now is there a trial library? How did you update Aperture and when did you update it?
Again by default the trial library (and anyother librsry Aperture creates) goes in the users Picture folder unless you tell Aperture to place it elsewhere.
How did you search for the libraries? If you open Aperture anf go to File->Switch to Library; Other/New you get a list of libraries Aperture knows about, did you check all those?
Is it possible you have two versions of Aperture on your system?  If so the other version might have been what your wife was using when she imported and it knoes where the library is.
