Aperture trial, no registration # provided

I would like to install the Aperture 2.0 trial, but after downloading the program trial version, I am not sent a registration number as promised. I've tried several times, and have used a different e-mail address and two different mail programs. It's not in junk mail and my filter provides an exception of apple anyway. When I inquired with the technical folks at Apple, they encountered the same problem, yet somehow seemed unconcerned about fixing it. They even sent me to another site (ubermind.com) and that link brought me back to the Apple trial page. Amazing.

Mia culpa. I found the registration number in my service provider's junk mail file, even though I had listed apple.com as a protected domain. Sorry Apple. My fault. I'm off and running with Aperture.

If somebody could help me I would be very grateful as the search I did on this category didn't provide any answers.
I want to download Aperture trial from the Apple site, but every time I click the download a new Tab opens with an empty window and the address is: "http://appldnld.apple.com.edgesuite.net/content.info.apple.com/Aperture/061-61 41.20090408.TR0r2/Aperture2.1.3Trial.dmg"
I already got three serial numbers and I still can't download and I have no ideas left.
    Thank you in advance.

Thank you for trying. I have found the problem. It's Intego AntiVirus Banner filter, who would imagine?!
I stopped all other filters, but not that one, and now when I turned Intego completely off it started working.

  • How do I remove Aperture trial and go back to iPhoto (be kind, I'm new).

How do I remove the Aperture trial and go back to iPhoto.  For my usage (just iPhone pics/movies) iPhoto is okay for me, but now I cannot figure out how to remove Aperture, when I drag to Trash I get a warning that Aperture is a system file.
Please help, but also, please go slow if you can help, I am new to my Mac.

Should be pretty easy as follows:
1 - Make sure you have copies of any pictures you want that are inside Aperture somewhere on your computer.
2 - Quit Aperture > Remove any Aperture icon from dock > drag the Aperture program (lens icon) from Applications folder to the Trash > proceed through any warning dialog (including entering password as required) to complete the process.
Note - new security features in OS X Lion may present those warning dialogs to prevent accidental deletion of Apple programs.
3 - Hold down the 'Option' key and use the 'Go' menu in menu bar and select the 'Library' option.
4 - In the Library folder, open the 'Application Support' folder and delete any Aperture folder found.
5 - While still in the Library folder, open the 'Preferences' folder and delete both the 'com.apple.Aperture.plist' and 'com.apple.Aperture.plist.lockfile' file.
6 - While still in the Library folder, open the 'Caches' folder and delete the 'com.apple.Aperture' folder.
7 - Go the your 'Pictures' folder and drag the 'Aperture Library' (may be named Aperture Trial Library or similar) to the Trash to delete it as well.
8 - Empty the Finder Trash to remove Aperture.
Note - there are some files and Aperture folders in the '/Library' folder (which is in the root of your system drive), but you don't really need to remove those. Since you are a beginner, it is probably better not to for now.
    That should do it.
Additional edit: There are two Library folders I am referring to. The first is the one in your user account 'Home' folder which is the one you are going to by using the 'Go' menu. This is the one you are deleting files from in the steps listed. The second Library folder is the one in the root of your system drive and is not typically a location for beginners to work with (thus the final note above). Hope that is clear enough.

  • Error opening the database for the library "~/Pictures/Aperture Trial Library.aplibrary" error message

When starting up Aperature 3 I get the following Error Message :
"There was an error opening the database for the library “~/Pictures/Aperture Trial Library.aplibrary”.
I can't di a thing except Quit. I have restored from Time Machine and reloaded the Software from Disk. Still get the same message. Any suggestions Are appreciated.

    Hello Jim,
I assume you trial Aperture Library is in your "Pictures" folder? Try to rename it to something like "OldApertureTrialLibrary.aplibrary", to force Aperture to create a new Application Library.
To rename the old Trial Library, select it in the Finder and enter Command(⌘)-I (short for File-> Get Info). Click on the file name text field and enter a new name.
Possibly you get this error message message, because there is some permissions problem. If you are not allowed to rename the file, click on the padlock in the lower right corner, authentificate as admin and give yourself read/write access to the trial library (in the "Sharing & Permissions" brick of the "Get Info" panel).
Post back, if your "ApertureTrialLibrary.aplibrary" contains valuable images that you would like to save or if this does not work and you need further advice.

can anybody help?...Should we, after the installation, should install any patches?
    Thanks.

    Hi
When you boot from the install disk, before you proceed through the install screens, first go to the Installers menu, and choose Disk Utility. If the internal drive appears, select it and click Repair Disk. See if you get errors, and if Disk Utility is able to correct those errors. If the drive does not appear, you may have serious drive issues which another drive utility (such as DiskWarrior) may be able to correct, but it may be severe enough to necessitate replacing the drive.
Since you've already tried Erase and Install, can I assume you have a backup of any files you need? If not, if you have access to another Mac, can you restart the G5 in Firewire mode (restart with the T key held down) and connect it using a Firewire cable to your other Mac. If the G5's drive appears on the other Mac's desktop, copy across any files you need.

  • Aperture Trial loaded but will not accept the emailed serial number

I downloaded the aperture trial, and received an email with the serial number to activate the trial but i keep being told the serial number is invalid!
I am concerned that my trial is counting down, and i cannot access it... can i register for another serial number or should i get help with getting this one working?

Serial number issues are most often related to typing it incorrectly. Either an accidental typo or confusing a zero with the letter "O". The best way to enter the serial number is to copy it from the email and paste it into Aperture.

  • Aperture trial to full version

I have been using the aperture trial for 26 days, and I'm gonna get the full version, my question is, should I get the box, or the activation code. I ask this because I have some projects set up as well as a vault and I don't know if when the trial ends, I'll lose this stuff. Will that happen...also, is the documentation that important? I bought the Apple Pro Training series book, Getting Started with Aperture...do I need everything else that is bundled? Thanks
    1.83 ghz 2gb RAM MacBook Pro 100gb hd + 250gb external hd   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

And if all else fails, just backup ApertureTrial.dmg to a CD. (132MMB dmg will fit on a 700MB CD easily) That's version 1.5.0. Then just download the update and you're back.
Actually you might be able to download the updater as a standalone and back that up on the same CD.

  • Aperture trial serial number not valid

Apple sent me a mail: Try Aperture for free.
Unhappily the serial number Apple ([email protected]) has sent to me for Aperture Trial is not valid!
Was that a spam? Does Apple want that nobody try Aperture? What can I do?
    iMac's   Mac OS X (10.4.8)
    iMac's   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

I have a similar problem. I installed the trial, and
it worked okay, until I updated it through Software
Update. So I trashed the program and thought I would
reinstall the version which was linked in the e-mail
that contained my serial number. Now I can't
reinstall it because it says that it was installed
    before.
    Grrrrrrrrrrr...
If you want to reinstall you have to delete the aperture files in system/receipts. These files tell the system what has been installed and will not allow a reinstall if they are present.
    Hope this is understandable?

  • Aperture 2.0 won't use my "Aperture Trial Library"

For some reason, Aperture 2.0 is suddenly now asking me each time I open it if I want to create a NEW trial library. I can't get it to open the Trial library I already made with it! At this point, I'm stuck. I've got an "Aperture Trial Library" that I made when I first opened Aperture 2.0, but it's now worthless.
Anyone else experience this? Any fix?

I finally just upgraded. Of course, that fixed it.

  • Restarting/Resetting the Aperture Trial

    Hi all,
Back in August I bought a MacBook Pro which came loaded with a trial version of Aperture. Through reasons which may have been accident or my own stupidity, I ended up starting the 30-day trial. Unfortunately I then went on my honeymoon to New Zealand for over a month. So life has settled down, and I'm ready to go through the 6000+ photos I took while in New Zealand, and I now find a need to evaluate Aperture - I wouldn't be a power user (yet) but iPhoto just doesn't cut it for me.
I tried downloading a new trial key, however it won't allow me to start a new trial - which I guess is the whole point. I've phoned after-sales about it and they were unhelpful. However last night I had a call from Apple asking me how my new MBP was working out, and I mentioned this issue. So the guy suggested I check with the Apple Discussions site. I've followed the advice in this post: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=5130341 but removing the license key file doesn't seem to help me out.
So I write here in the hope that someone may have more advice for me - I really want to try this software out! Is there something I missed in the original post (for example the name of the license key file - maybe it was discretion that led the other poster to not mention it directly so I'll try to be discrete too!)
    Many thanks,
    Maurice Kelly

When yu did the update from Lepoard to Snow Lepoard  did you do a clean install of the OS or did you update in place? As long as you did not do a clean install then the upgarde wouldnot have touched any user files.
You keep mentioning external drives, plural, how many are there? You wrote then when she was traveling she would import to the MBP's  Aperture library and then mention finding many of thede images on extenal disks. Did she have a disk(s) with her when she traveled?
Then you mention an Aperture Trial library, why? If she has been using Aperture for years why now is there a trial library? How did you update Aperture and when did you update it?
Again by default the trial library (and anyother librsry Aperture creates) goes in the users Picture folder unless you tell Aperture to place it elsewhere.
How did you search for the libraries? If you open Aperture anf go to File->Switch to Library; Other/New you get a list of libraries Aperture knows about, did you check all those?
Is it possible you have two versions of Aperture on your system?  If so the other version might have been what your wife was using when she imported and it knoes where the library is.

  • Aperture Trial crashed and now my trial has expired

I have just received my new MacBook Pro and was excited to be able to try the Aperture Trial version. Installation went smoothly, and on first startup I let Aperture import my iPhoto library. However at about 10% of importing, Aperture seemed to have stalled. It did not respond to my input. Even trying to quit it from the dock had no effect. So I used Force Quit.
Now when I try to restart Aperture I get a message that my trial has expired, and I get the option to buy it. I would really be interesting in buying it after a 30-day trial, but not after a 10-minute trial which ended in a crash and a bug that now prevents me from starting up again!
Any similar experiences or possible solutions?

Thanks! I tried your suggestion to delete everything Aperture related from the library, but with no luck. I also installed Aperture on my old 1.8 GHz iMac G5 yesterday, just as a test, and had no problems there (except that that machine is really too slow for Aperture). Then to my surprise, this morning the Aperture trial also worked again on my brand new MacBook Pro.
In hindsight, I think I must have installed the Aperture trial while my system clock was still on Shanghai time (where the MacBook Pro factory is). Yesterday (wednesday) afternoon in Europe, when I was installing, it must already have been thursday morning in China. Then during or after the installation I adjusted the time to Central European time, and the date skipped one day back. So the piece of software that was checking whether the trial was still valid actually noticed that the system date was before the date that the trial began and did not let me start the software again until today! Although I am not quite sure, that's my best theory about what must have happened.
As for the unresponsiveness that caused me to force quit Aperture in the first place, that might have been a mistake as well. In my eagerness to test the new computer I was doing many things at the same time. At the moment I have only 1 GB of RAM in this computer. I would suggest anyone trying out Aperture on a brand new machine to be patient. First make sure all other software and settings are in place, and then take a few hours to run Aperture alone, in order to let it import your images, etc.

  • Aperture trial version

hello ! so I'm wondering if there is some "bugs" or not in the aperture trial version (1.5.2)
To me, the searching daesn't work at all, and same in the path correcting...
I known my PB G4 17 got old but is that all ?

There used to be, but the Trial version has been discontinued, sorry.
You can see see, what Aperture can do from the
    Aperture 3 User Manual
or the video tutorials on the Support page: http://www.apple.com/support/aperture/
Or visit an Apple store and try it out.

And you may want to send Apple feedback, that a Trial version is necessary for a "Pro" application: http://www.apple.com/feedback/aperture.html

  • Edited photos missing after aperture trial expired

I downloaded the 30 day aperture trial a month ago, and used it to edit a few of my photos.
Today I opened Aperture and realized my trial had expired, so when it asked me if I wanted to relocate my "masters", I did and moved them a folder on my desktop. The thing is, when I looked in this folder all it had was the original photos, not the edited ones...
I went to my Aperture Trial library and clicked "show package contents" and looked through the folders there but all I could find was a sort of medium sized version of each edited photo (in a folder called "previews"), but not the original size. I think it has something to do with the fact that when editing I took advantage of the sort of drawing on different adjustments to specific parts of the photo (like masks, I think) so maybe it didn't save the entire photo as one thing or something (I'm not very familiar with how Aperture works).
I'm just wondering if there is any way I can get these edited photos back somehow?
    Thanks

One way you might be able to get back your edits is to buy Aperture. It may be that they're still in the Library that you edited with the trial version, and once you enter the serial number, the software will let you work with that library again. Alternatively, if you have a backup of your Aperture Trial Library from before you exported your masters, that will likely work if you get a licensed version of Aperture.
If you've decided Aperture isn't for you, then you probably need to move your masters into whatever you'll be using, and re-edit them, in that.
