Aperture Update Just Released

Just downloaded an Aperture update to fix the tint, and other bug issues.

Hi there!
Yes, same problem too; I've already sent an email to apple support and just received a very vague and unpractical response with "call apple support in your country" as main advice. I've obviously emailed back stating that I need a clearer response and I don not have any intention to spend money calling for support when updates is a free tool. I do also believe this is a probem generated on Apple's end, I just wish they learned to say "sorry, it's us;  working on it!"

  • Adobe Flash Player 10.1.82.76 update just released (fixes SWF in PPT bug)

    Hi,
If you are using the Adobe Flash Player make sure you update to Adobe Flash Player 10.1.82.76 ([released by Adobe on August 10th 2010|https://www.adobe.com/support/security/bulletins/apsb10-16.html]).
As well as having the latest security fixes this update also fixes the Adobe Flash Player bug that stopped Xcelsius SWFs from working when you embedded them into a PPT: https://www.adobe.com/support/security/bulletins/apsb10-16.html
FYI: Xcelsius is based on Adobe Flex and this bug also affected any Adobe Flex based SWF that was embedded into a PPT not just Xcelsius.

I should clarify....the update hasn't fixed my Macbook's issues with wireless when operating on battery power alone....(when plugged into mains power it's fine)

  • 9.0.2 update just released, fixing audio sync problems.

Just ran a quick test, looks like it's fixed! Thanks Apple!

It worked for me perfectly! That saves me a lot of frustration after putting a lot of time in editing a project. Great to see it export now and the audio is synced! Yeah! Thanks Apple!

    Well!
If you have ThunderBolt, I would go with such for an External Working Drive, spinning platter or SSD depending on your budget
This does not have to be huge just big enough to house your most current Jobs
Once the Current Job is put to rest I would move it to a larger multi bay hard drive unit, USB or FireWire nothing fancy, no RAID, set up as one single Disk
This would only be accessed when something is needed from a past Job so the connection does not have to be speedy
The Drobo would be relegated to Vaults and backups
You can set up a Vault on the Drobo to back up the External Working Library and then Reconnect it when you have moved the Library over to the other Enclosure
This has worked for me pretty smoothly for a long while, but I have found over the years that one can not assume all people work in the same manner! :-)

  • Just released ! New Software Update - Java 5   Any suggestions?

My software update just advised me that there is a Java 5 upgrade. Any suggestions on this upgrade? Any special settings to Browsers after upgrade recommended? Thanks ! Geof

    Just some more info,
Apple doesn't hasn't put out much info on the new Java 5. MacWorld/MacCentral has an small article on Java 5, but it doesn't say much. The link below will bring you to the Java 5 article at MacWorld:
    http://www.macworld.com/news/2005/11/15/j2se/index.php
    Here is some more info:
    http://www.onjava.com/pub/a/onjava/2005/08/17/asm3.html
It doesn't seem to be a necessity. I have also heard something about Google switching to the new Java but I don't know anything about it.

  • Aperture update requires v1.0 serial number

I am posting this simply give an account of my experience, in hopes that the Apple Aperture team will seriously reconsider this approach in the future. I also would welcome clarification if this approach is to be expected for all Apple software products going forward. Here's my experience:
I've been an Aperture user since 1.0 shipped (actually before, as I prepaid prior to the 1.0 release). I have upgraded to version 2, and then to version 3, as a loyal user. My Aperture software has always been legally registered -- I've never run any kind of demo or friend's version of the software on my machine.
I installed the latest Software Update on my machine yesterday, which was an update to Aperture (3.1.3). Today I opened Aperture to grab a photo in my library. It prevented me from accessing the app until I entered my serial # (again). Now this alone would have been bad enough, but I found it wouldn't take my version 2 or version 3 upgrade serial #'s either -- it identified them as upgrade serial numbers, and required me to enter the original serial #, which for me was the original Aperture 1.0 release. I was prevented from accessing my Aperture library until I could dig my Aperture 1.0 serial # out of a crate in my closet.
Outside of the mindlessly annoying aspect of this, this is incredibly bad form for ANY software vendor. I have 12 years of photos locked up in my Aperture library, and preventing me access to my photos, and all the edits / changes I've made to them over the years until I re-register software that was registered 3 times already is just horrible. It is one thing to check serial #'s on the installation of a new major version number of a paid app to verify previous purchase, but when the thrice registered software that applied by your automatic update not only demands that serial number but then prevents access to all of my photos, changes, etc -- I don't know what crazy disco ball was hanging from the conference room where this idea was deemed good, but it isn't good. It is very bad.
While I have no desire to do so, I feel like I have no choice but to seriously consider dumping Aperture for no other reason than losing over a decade of photos simply because I may in the future misplace my version1.0 serial #. I can just see me losing the serial # in an office move or something like that and then having to go either buy Aperture all over again or go out on ebay for 2 months bidding on 1.0 versions.
So if any Apple folk actually read this, I'm a loyal Apple software and Aperture user. This was not cool. I hope this is the last I see of this kind of thing, and I really hope this isn't the new trend of system updates for all software.
Here's to hoping for a smoother experience next time.

First, you need to submit this verbatim as feedback to make sure the Aperture team reads it.
I haven't run the update yet, but I've been using Aperture since 1.1 so I may hit the same wall.  Here's why I'm not worried about it:  After using Photoshop since version 2.5, I wound up having to buy the full version when CS1 came out.  This experience and the realities of multiple cross country moves made me start keeping a VERY well backed up text file with the serial numbers of every piece of software I've purchased since 2001.
I'm not defending this policy, but I wanted to share my response to a similar situation.  I urge everyone to maintain a similar file.

  • Update episode release date....

I have an old episode that is at the bottom of my podcast that we wanted to move towards the top. In order to do this, I updated the "release date" of the episode in my feed to a more recent date. Sure enough, doing that moved the episode up exactly to the spot that I wanted to in my list of episodes on my podcast. The only problem is that I keep getting error 404 messages in iTunes when I try to download the episode now.
Did I do something wrong here? The podcast link is as follows if anyone could have a look - it would be much appreciated:
    http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=120980516
    Thanks.

Roger, thanks for the input. Its funny, but recently the file started working correctly. I did not change its order in the feed file but only updated the release date and it posted where I wanted it to on iTunes. You can have a look at the episode -- its name is "Cleared For Takeoff" and it used to be way at the bottom of the list but my client wanted it moved "somewhere close to the top" - so that's how I did it.
At this point in time, I feel a little skiddish about posting the xml feed in the public (security, copyright issues etc) that might put my client at risk.
Once again, it was weird because for about a day and a half it didn't work properly - it kept giving me error 404. But now it seems to work just fine.
Thanks again. I guess this is just some more info for the knowledge base.

  • Sneak Preview ABAP Edition just released

The Sneak Preview: ABAP Edition is now available. Kathy just announced it in the forum: Sneak Preview Update: ABAP Edition just released!!
The link to the Sneak Preview stays the same: https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/com.sap.km.cm.docs/library/uuid/cfc19866-0401-0010-35b2-dc8158247fb6
Basically this is a "slim" or "mini" ABAP installation with a compressed database component, comparable to the "slim" Java version. It's supposed to run with a minimum of 1GB but 2GB RAM is recommended.
Feedback on this edition, like the others, should go in the SDN Code Sample/Download forum (Software Downloads).
    Cheers,
    Marilyn

It would be really awesome to see the community weigh in on their experiences with this installation.
I'm going to suggest that we find a way to reward participants for doing a good job of sharing and documenting their experiences with the installation.
One idea would be to give a "double point" allocation.
That means that good content contribution (articles, blogs, detailed forum posts in a separate marked thread) that articulates the substance of what a downloader does in the course of the new ABAP Sneak Preview installation: tips and tricks, installation guide details, observations and detailed opinions,  will be <u>doubly rewarded</u>.
Hey, this is a very time consuming activity, as I am experiencing myself at present.
    Thoughts?

  • IPod Software Update Version/Release Notes

Where can I find the version change history for iPod software updates? I've already lost features by updating in the past; I want to try to avoid that for the 1.3.1 update that was just released.

By "they" do you mean Apple? If so, the answer is no, but these forums are monitored by the Hosts who give feedback to the software developers.
You can also send Apple your own feedback about issues you've experienced by using this link.

  • Is there a problem with the new aperture update ?

    Hi,
Got the lastest update for aperture and just opened up some recent photos in aperture and it looked like missing pixels in the picture. Some of the pictures, distortion of pixels was terrible. At first I thought my new Macbook pro screen was faulty. It was the third time today that I was looking at the same pictures and I knew there was no problem with the file and then I remembered the aperture update. I opened the same pictures with iphoto and then set the photos as desktop pictures and they came out perfect.
Has anyone else had the same problems after the update ?
    Thanks.

    Hi, welcome to the forum
Sometimes these issues are user related, but not always.. I agree with Allan that you need to let Aperture finish its tasks.
Here is a link to an article that you can work through to see if you can resolve your specific problem....... http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3805
This will step you through some issues and hopefully help you resolve your problem.

  • HT3805 My Aperture 3 just crashed, i.e., it would not open and showed an error message -1712.  I sent the current version to trash and reinstalled from my A3 disk, but after installing again it still says "Aperture can not open -1712."

My Aperture 3 just crashed...by that I mean it would not open and showed the message: "Aperture 3 cannot open.  -1712."  I have the latest A3 version and had been using it continually for 3 years.  This was the first crash.  And it will not open as often as I tried.
I am using a 13" Macbook Pro with OSX 10.8.5.
I tried sending the A3 application to trash, and reinstalling from my A3 disk.  Install message said "installation successful."  But A3 would still not open and gave same message with -1712.
Any suggestions what I should do or try?
    Thanks

Perhaps your Aperture library was damaged, when Aperture crashed. What where you doing, right before the crash happened?
    - If you installed new software - programs, plug-ins, preferences panels, check, if they are compatible.
    - If you imported new images, you may have imported corrupted files, that crash Aperture.
Can Aperture launch correctly, when you try to open a new Aperture library?
Hold down the options-key, when you launch Aperture and select to create a new library. Import a few images. Does that work?
If Aperture will launch on a new Library, try to repair your current library. Hold down the key-combination option-command ⌥⌘  firmly while double-clicking the Aperture library to open in First Aid Mode. Hold the keys down, until the panel appears, and then try  the First Aid Options in turn.
I have the latest A3 version
Is it Aperture 3.4.5? The latest Aperture 3.5.1 will not work with Mt. Lion.
