Aperture using Unified library & "Last 12 months"

Hello,
I'm using Aperture with an iPhoto Library in order to use some good things of one and others.
When I look in iPhoto under the "Last 12 months", I get of course all pictures within the related period of time.
When I switch back to Aperture, the "Last 12 months", is completly empty.... It's really annoying.
I tried to completly rebuild the database and also regenerate all previews, I still get the same issue.
Do I miss something ?

In iPhoto, there is a preference called "Last 12 Months" and There is the same in Aperture, but visibly there are not working well together.
What I did :
1- disabled the feature in iPhoto, and then renabled it thru the Aperture preference, give it me back to Aperture.
2- Open the Library with iPhoto and then reopen the library with Aperture make the "Last 12 Months" empty again
3- Then, each time, I open the Library with iPhoto, I have to uncheck this preference and put it back when in Aperture.
It seems like a bug in Aperture management of this feature when shared with iPhoto.

Aperture/iPhoto - Use Unified Library or import iPhoto into Aperture?

So as it is June 30th, I've been forced into upgrading to Lion. Now I know I can take advantage of the Aperture/iPhoto unified library structure.
But should I?
I am new to Aperture and use it for photos starting in January 2012 going forward. I have already upgraded to Aperture 3.3. I am still currently running iPhoto 8.1.2 for photos from 2011 and earlier. My plan was to eventually import my iPhoto library into Aperture. Now it appears I don't have to.
So I'm standing at a crossroads and I'd like feedback. I have read some of the discussions where folks are having issues with migration with both avenues so I'd like to know which one makes more sense.
Should I upgrade to iPhoto 9.3? Should I keep each library separate? Should I merge? Should I import iPhoto into Aperture still and have one library going forward?
Looking for folks with some experience to give me guidance!

Merge them. When you upgrade to iPhoto 9.3 and Aperture 3.3 the programs use the same library format... you can open it in either one.
Note people rarely post feedback about something if it's working for them, so results will always be skewed toward the negative online. Still, it makes sense to have a backup before upgrading, as a general best practice.

TS2518 I opened Aperture and all my projects and albums for the last 4 months have gone. Where can I recover them from?

We will need to know more, to be able to help you to find and restore your images.
What exactly do you mean by "lost 4 month of photos". Are earlier projects still visible in Aperture or are all your projects missing?
What is your Aperture version and your MacOS X version?
And what were the last action you did on your mac, before the photos went missing? Did you install something, update something, run some cleaning tools?
Did you move your aperture library to a different location?
Please tell us anything you think that might help to understand what happenend.
Sometimes images appear to be missing, but are only hidden.
Have you looked in Aperture's Trash? And the Trash on your Desktop?
Have you looked at the searchfields in the browser and Inspector if they are cleared and are showing "All Items" or "Showing all"?
Have you opened the correct Aperture Library? If you type ".aplibrary" into the Spotlight searchfield in the upper right corner of your screen, do you see more than one Aperture library?

Iphoto/aperture unified library question

I have just bought a new iMac to replace an ageing one. I succesfully copied my iphoto library to the new machine (via a separte hard drive). I checked the library opened fine in iPhoto and everything was there (all fine). I then bought and installed Aperture on the new machine and pointed it the the iphoto library which it opened (after first upgrading it) with no problem. So I now effectively have a "unified" iPhoto and Aperture library, although in practice I do not intend to use iPhoto any more, I will always be working in Aperture.
I now have a simple question, my photo library in the Finder (sits in the Pictures folder) is still identified as "iPhoto Library", does this matter?.
Now I believe I can (if I want) simply rename this to "Aperture Libary" or whatever else I want to call it but this made me wonder whether there is any distinction between a unified library that began life as an iPhoto library (as in my case) or a unifed library which began life as a Aperture library. Specifically, is there any change I could or should make to my library given I only ever intending using it with Aperture - or once you have a unified library is there really no differance at al between a library labelled as an "iPhoto Library" and a library labelled as an "Aperture Library" - other than in name?

You're using iPhoto 6?
Try these in order - from best option on down...
1. Do you have an up-to-date back up? If so, try copy the library6.iphoto file from the back up to the iPhoto Library allowing it to overwrite the damaged file.
2. Download <a href="http://www.fatcatsoftware.com/iplm/"><b><u>iPhoto Library Manager</b></u></a> and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.
3. If neither of these work then you'll need to create and populate a new library.
To create and populate a new *iPhoto 6* library:
Note this will give you a working library with the same Rolls and pictures as before, however, you will lose your albums, keywords, modified versions, books, calendars etc.
Move the iPhoto Library to the desktop
Launch iPhoto. It will ask if you wish to create a new Library. Say Yes.
Go into the iPhoto Library on your desktop and find the Originals folder. From the Originals folder drag the individual Roll Folders to the iPhoto Window and it will recreate them in the new library.
When you're sure all is well you can delete the iPhoto Library on your desktop.
In the future, in addition to your usual back up routine, you might like to make a copy of the library6.iPhoto file whenever you have made changes to the library as protection against database corruption.

I used to see a monthly "Feb 2014" photo stream category in my library for each month. Now all of my photo stream photos (from my iPhone) are under "iCloud" under "Sharing" and I don't know how to get my pix out of there and separate them into libraries

My computer has changed how it accepts photos from my phone. They used to post into a library by the month and year, e.g., "Feb 2014 photo stream," but now all of the photos from my phone for the past year or so are lumped together into the "Shared" section under "photo stream." I did not put them there (that I know of) and now don't know how to get them out and into a library where I can categorize them.

The monthly events "Feb2014" will show you all photos that have been imported from "My Photo STream", if you have enabled "Automatic Import" in the "Preferences > iCloud" tab.
The albums you are seeing under "iCloud" are the "Shared Photo Streams" and "My Photo Stream". To import from your "Shared Streams" drag the photos frommthe Shared Streams album to the Projects in the library panel.

Using iPhoto Library in Aperture 3

Currently I have two separate photo libraries, each containing the same photos/videos in both iPhoto 11 and Aperture 3 (latest updates for both).
In order to conserve HD space is there any way I could eliminate say, the Aperture library and have it use the iPhoto library as default? Each library comprises 24K+ photos/videos; however, iPhoto is the only one which can play certain of the older videos, Aperture won't play them. There is roughly 80 to 85 GB in each library due to the amount of items. I could keep the iPhoto videos in iPhoto for reference purposes and remove same from Aperture, but that means I am still running with two libraries.
What would be likely problems if I were to remove my current Aperture library and have Aperture use the iPhoto 11 library instead? I am running low on HD space and don't wish to use an external drive to store one of the libraries; however, I do use an external drive for Time Machine backups.
I am wondering what problems I would encounter and if there would be any benefit to this scenario.
Perhaps some feedback would help me to decide. Either I can eliminate the iPhoto library or the Aperture library. Thoughts and recommendations would be appreciated.

Like Aperture the 'edits' are in the database. These apps work as follows:
Import an original
Edit it. Your decisions are stored as text commands in the SQL database. When you view the file it's essentially the original with your 'edits' overlaid on it. There is no edited file without exporting - that's what lossless processing is all about.

To dave you the bother of always having to export iPhoto automatically generates Previews. (In Aperture you can choose to generate them or not). What's a Preview? It's a sort of 'good-enough-for-most-things version of the shot, medium quality, medium size but missing lots of metadata - designed for use in scenarios like email, uploading and using in Word Processing.

we have the time characteristics 0CALMONTH, At present we managing the load by manually changing the selection for last 2 month every time ,

Query to show items not used in last 12 months

Can anyone help with a query or is there a was in B1 to pull a report of item that have not had activity in the last 12 months?

I drilled into one item that I knew we are still using. The date on my inactive report was 01/01/07. This is what was displayed in inventory posting.

No matter where you purchased it, it's beyond the one-year warranty. To repair it would probably cost more than it would to replace it with a new phone (even if it's a used phone and new to you).

Which version of Mail are you using as well as which Snow Leopard version you are using?

HT204291 My AirPlay has suddenly stopped working!! I've been using it for the last 4 months, today I tried to watch a video from my iPad 2 iOS 5 and I have no AirPlay icon. Have also tried it on my iPhone 4 iso5 and also no icon on that. Please help.

I have been using my appletv for the last 4 months, gone to ue it today and the airplay icon dose not appear on me ipad2 running iso5 where is has been. I have also tried on my iphone 4 running iso 5 and again no joy.
I have compleated a soft reset on all devices and checked that they are all conected to the same wifi which they are.

Thanks Winston, restarting my router worked for me too. Seems that somehow the DCHP (maybe due to the Mountain Lion upgrade?) had assigned the same IP address to both the AppleTV and my iMac. The AppleTV stopped appearing as an AirPlay device for my iPhone and Mac, but still the AppleTV had Internet access.
Restarting the router reassigned IPs and without fanfare, the AppleTV is now available to AirPlay.
