thanks

Need more info :-) .  What problem are you trying to solve?  In what way is the behavior of Aperture different from what you expct?
"Preview" means something specific in Aperture.  Is that what you mean?
What photos are you trying to sync?
You mention "import" in your subject but not in your message.  It is not possilble to provide good advice without knowing what you are asking.
Ask for clarification if you don't know what "Previews" are, or what "import" means.  Don't worry about asking -- Aperture is a very complex and difficult program.

    SUGGESTION:
Install the Canon EOS Utility that came with your camera. Also check for an updated version of the EOS Utility after the install. You need to install from the CD first before you can install any updates.

If the EOS Utility can download the CR2 files to your hard drive, then your camera is not defective.

How do I unsync email so deleting from one device will not remove it from all devices?

Sounds like you have an IMAP/Exchange mail account (vice a POP3 account). By design, an IMPA/Exchange account synchronized your mail boxes among different devices. That behavior can't be changed.

If I delete my photo stream photos off of my iPhone will they also delete from my photo stream on my MacBook Pro? If so how can I ensure that those photos are saved?

They will not be deleted if they have been imported to your iPhoto library.  To ensure this happens automatically, go to iPhoto>Preferences>iCloud and check Automatic Import:
To confirm that they have been imported to your library, click on iCloud on the left sidebar of iPhoto, open your My Photo Stream album on the right, then Control-Click on your pictures.  If you see "Show in Library" in the pop-up, the picture has been imported to your library and you can safely delete it from photo stream.

  • Aperture 2.1 will not import .crw from my Canon 300D Digital Rebel?

    Hi
I am having problems with Aperture 2.1. I have a number of RAW files on my Canon 300D DSLR, which will not import into Aperture. Aperture recognises the camera and the photos via USB connection directly to the camera. However, when I click on import all (or for that matter if I attempt to import a single photo) I receive the following error box:
"Import From Capture Card Completed with Errors - 0 images have been imported into the project named "untitled project". - Aperture failed to import the 19 images listed below:"
It then list all of the images, for instance: CRW_0309.CRW.
I am almost certain that Aperture 2.1 is compatible with the Canon 300D and .crw files: does anyone have any idea why I am having problems? Please feel free to ask me any questions, which may help you to understand my issues.
This is my first post, sorry if I've done anything wrong.
    Si

You might be onto something there nbirchler ... whilst I have not installed all the Canon software I have got the Canon remote capture installed ... but more to the point I have iPhoto, Aperture, Elements, Photoshop, FinepixViewer, Adobe DNG and various RAW developer type packages, as well as god knows what else lurking ... maybe one of these was interfering as I had not specified a default program to interface with my camera.
Does anyone know if there is a window (shouldn't use that word in Appleland really lol), or menu in OSX (perhaps in system preferences or something) for selecting the default image download software for your camera? I assume if you say 'yes' to iPhoto on bootup, or 'yes' to Aperture it must just tick a box somewhere in OSX ... wheres the box?
It would be useful to interface directly with OSX before I insert my camera and ensure I have the package I want to open selected.

  • Aperture 3 will not import image files on hard drives (need bug check).

For the past several days, I've been encountering an issue where Aperture will not recognize photos on a local hard drive (internal or external) for import, but will recognize the exact same image if it is located on a flash card. In fact, I can drag an image from a card to my desktop and it will not be recognized. If I drag it back to the card, it is available for import again. It is not a 100% occurrence however, but doesn't seem to have any rhyme or reason. Restarting Aperture does not help, but this is not to say it won't be working fine the next day.
I am investigating whether anyone else has this issue for a possible bug report.
    Thanks

I'm having this problem right now. If I switch to a flash card reader with a card inserted, it immediately shows the thumbnails of files available for import. I just finished importing a backup folder of images and that worked as expected, but going back to other folders show nothing inside of them to import.
The File Types panel from Import Settings shows no exclusions checked and the RAW+JPEG Pairs settings do nothing (in any case, this should only apply to RAW+JPEG pairs, which I don't have).
Anybody else find anything that worked?

  • Adobe LR3 will not import image files.  Running on Mac OS 10.6.4

When I try to import images into LR3 I get the errors show on attached screenshots.  Anyone know how to fix this?

I'm having the same problem and I'm running LR3 on Mac OS 10.6.4 as well.
I put my SD card into my iMac's SD card slot, and tried to import into LR3, but got an error that all of my new files were not imported because they "...could not be read (17)".  They can be read just fine by GraphicConverter.  I shoot RAW+JPG and LR3 will not import either version (e.g., if I remove the .CR2 files from the SD card, LR3 won't read the .jpgs either).  I also put the SD card into a reader (instead of into the iMac's SD card slot) and that didn't work.
I copied the RAWs to the Desktop and tried to import from there, but in that case I get a message that the import operations were not performed because "a file could not be copied to the requested location (34)".
I imported images from this SD card on the 5th, and I haven't formatted it since then.  The only thing that's changed that I know of is the Mac OS update, but I would expect that if that were the problem, I wouldn't be able to read these files anywhere (i.e., GraphicConverter).
    Any suggestions?
Update:  I've now tried another SD card, and a CF card, and LR3 will not import any of the files on them - I get the same "...could not be read (17)" error.  I have repaired disk permissions, and I've trashed the Lightroom 3 preferences.
Update #2:  I've deleted and re-installed Lightroom 3, and I still cannot import any new images.  Lightroom 2 imports just fine.  This is becoming infuriating.
    Anyone have any suggestions yet?

  • LR 3 will not import images

I just installed LR 3 on a brand new MacPro. I imported 27,000 files in from an external hard drive, which I had already put through LR3 on my PC. (Yes I tried to export the catalogue from the PC to the MacPro, after four failed attempts and hours on the phone with Adobe tech support I gave up and did it this way.)
These images all imported successfully. Then I tried to import from a CF card using a good card reader. The images all showed up in the import preview screen I selected the location to which I wanted them to be copied and an import preset. But LR will not import them - it gives me an error message: The files were not imported because they cannot be read." These are files from a D700, the same camera I have been importing files from on the PC for over a year. I purged the camera raw cache preferences & tried again with the same result.  Using another good card reader reached the same result. I can open the files with no problem in PS CS4. The files are fine.
I then moved the files to a folder on the desktop and tried to import from there. This time the error message is: "LR could not copy files to the requested location" and nothing imported as well.
    Any ideas?

Thanks for getting in touch, away from the desk at the moment, but
    1. The installation process was a nightmare, check the forum for how many people had a problem with that
    2. As for screen shot, it is just the import screen the moment after you hit "import" it just hangs I will comply upon my return
    3. As for where "I" went wrong, as the process has been precisely what I have consistently done for the last 6 years I'm fairly confident this is a software situation- I won't say never, but I'm good on this because LR3 can still be utilized in the same way AND I can create a catalog that LR 4.1 will open, the only workaround so far.
    Thanks,
    Daniel

  • Aperture will not import all CR2 (iPhoto is fine....)

I'm currently attempting to move from a PC to a Mac. For the most part this has been a positive experience however Aperture is starting to bug me.
My photo library has been copied across and some old NEF files converted to JPEG. The library is located in a folder in the Pictures directory. The entire library imports fine into iPhoto.
When attempting to import into Aperture I get seemingly random rejection of CR2 files. Photos prior to the failure import fine. Photos after the failure import fine. Around 20% of images are rejected.
When the failure occurs no error messages are sent to the console. Examination of photo metadata shows not significant differences between photos that work and photos that do not. Changing the file name to something shorter does not help.
Restarting Aperture does not work. Restarting the OS does not help. Downgrading to RAW 2.1 does not help.
The only similar report I have found was from people having issues with CF cards, and the solution was to copy the files locally and then import....
I'm not going to convert my CR2 files to DNG or JPEG just because Aperture is buggy. Other than that any suggestions would be greatly appreciated (is there an Aperture log file somewhere ?)
    Camera: Canon EOS 30D
    Aperture 2.1.2
    OSX 10.5.6
    Raw Bundle 2.5
    iPhoto 09
    Thanks !

I seem to be having the same problem. I was to shoot an entire stage production with a canon 50D and when I only had a 4gb card at my disposal, I wanted to take some more pics so I went with Raw2. apparently aperture doesnt like this. it imported the project but all it gives me are thumbnails and in the canvas it says "unsupported image format".
what do they expect me to do...spin back time and reshoot the entire production? no i dont think so...apple needs to get on this (if they havent already) and make this work.

  • Aperture will not import my iphoto library

When trying to import my iphoto library to aperture 3 I get a warning that says: Importing libraries from versions earlier than iPhoto 7.1.5 is not supported. Please upgrade your iPhoto library with iPhoto 7.1.5 or later. But my iPhoto is the most up to date version available 9.2.1 so I do not understand why I would get this warning, heck I don't even think my iPhoto was EVER that old. PLEASE HELP!

Ok so I think I got aperture to import my iPhoto library, well actually I know I did although it's either not complete or I'm not happy with how they apear and are all marked as iPhoto ariginals.
But I had backed up my iPhoto library by draggin the file "iPhoto Library" in my Pictures folder to an external drive earlier and this time I when in Aperture 3 I clicked File > Import > Import iPhoto Library I chose the one off the external instead of the original and it worked right away. So no idea why it would not work off the original but at least I got it.
And your link I think was fine, I am useing Mac OS X Mountain Lion 10.8 and for some reason when I click links safari likes to add https// to the beginning of each link or address even if it's already there let alon is not putting the colling in so it really is https// instead of http:// but thats another story. I am begining to wonder if I should have just upgraded to OS X Lion instead of the unreleased Mountain Lion as I'm guessing there will not be many updates to it till they actually release it to the public.
But if anyone else was having the iPhoto Library issue, just back it up by dragging it somewhere else than importing to aperture 3 and your all good! And thanks for refering that Frank, the help was appreciated very much.

  • I just bought a Nikon D610  light room 4.4 will not open images from my camera help!

In a market economy people get paid for their work via companies who charge for their products.  Adobe employs people who are working all the time, and therefore chooses to require pay-for upgrades periodically to generate more revenue.  The reason they switched to the cloud was to even out their revenue stream even more.  You can pay US$10/month and get the current versions of LR and PS as long as you keep paying.
Just because many people are upset when they realize they'll have to spend more money for software because they got a new camera doesn't make the producer of the software bad or mean that the feelings are justified and it's someone else's fault.
What should happen differently: that society be communist and all software be produced by and doled out from the government so political decisions govern what is available and who gets it, or a more socialist society where retired workers get more things for free or at reduced cost due to they're not working anymore, or what is your specific idea for what should be changed?
As far as your crumbs and loaf analogy, Adobe is a publically-traded, for-profit company.  If people are getting rich from gouging seniors then you should have purchased stock a long time ago and get a piece of those supposedly extraordinary profits as dividends for yourself and you can vote in the shareholder meetings to give more software to whatever groups you deem more worthy.  And if you're across a border and things are much more expensive due to government policies or taxes and if you're a citizen of that society and organize and get people to vote differently and change the system.
If you're coming here for solutions about how work with new camera raws in older software keep your question to that.  If you're wanting people to agree that you're justified in being upset by complaining that Adobe is bad then you've probably come to the wrong place.

  • Firefox 5 with Fedora 15 prints text, but will not print images from web pages.

I have a Pentium 3 laptop running Fedora 15 and using Firefox 5.0. Firefox will print the text from a website, but will not print the images. It just leaves the spaces blank where the images should be. Print preview shows the same results. I have a AMD desktop and a Pentium 4 laptop running the same software, except that the desktop is running the 64-bit version of Fedora 15 and the second laptop is running the 32-bit version. The desktop prints the text and images without very many problems, but both laptops will print the text, but ''not'' the images.
As a test, I downgraded Firefox from version 5.0 to 4.0.1 on the Pentium 4 laptop and encountered the same problem. So, since I do not print much from either laptop, I had not before seen this problem. The desktop has never seen it.
I figure it may be an about:config problem, but I do not know what the parameter may be that is causing the problem.
