Aperture will not open after login

After Login I tried to open Aperture of which failed to open. I received a message. (Aperture cannot open because of a problem. Check with the developer to make sure aperture works with this version of OS X. (Yosimite) You may need to reinstall the application. Be sure to install all available updates for the application and OS X.) This I have done with no improvement in the situation. I also have the report of which I will post. If anyone can help it would be much appreciated.

That is the culprit. Your system library is missing an essential dynamic library.  To fix this, back up your mac, and boot into recovery and reinstall Mac OS X on top of your current system.  You don't need to wipe the drive or reinstall your apps.
See:  OS X: About OS X Recovery
It will be easier if you can connect your mac directly to your router and don't use the WI-Fi.
This bug usually happens after installing Final Cut, which adds an incompatible system modification.  Did you install Final Cut Express?

Aperture will not open after I updated. What do I do?

Mgoss, quit the installer or App Store/Software Update (depending on what you're using to update) and restart your machine. With Aperture closed, drag the Aperture application to the trash, then reinstall Aperture from your original media and, if necessary, update again.

  • TS4471 Aperture will not open after update

After the last software update of Aperture I have not been able to open the program. I get a message that the program is unable to open because of a problem. I have tried to reinstall the program twice, but the problem persists. Anyone got a solution?

This is the first 50 lines of the crash log. Several programs have been updated since Aperture and I have installed a drum machine program.

  • My aperture library will not open after restoring my whole computer after a kernal panic.  I can not get the Aperture troubleshooting menu to open...any help?

My aperture library will not open after restoring my whole computer after a kernal panic.  I can not get the Aperture troubleshooting menu to open...any help?

    Leonie,
Fisrt let me thank you for your reply and assistance!  So here is the problem with so more detail...I was not sure I was going to get any replies ; )
I restored from a time machine back up.
    History of Failure:
I was trying to launch Aperture when the kernal panic occured.  My computer had been closed, and asleep and the battery was dead.  I plugged in charger and it was restoring/waking up after being asleep/shutting down from dead battery.  I launched Aperture from the dock and as soon as it opened the kernal panic occured.  After that the computer would not turn on.  It would try to boot then it would shut off.  I even tried to safe boot to no avail.  I went to the Apple store and they told me that the only thing I could do was restore whole computer from back up.  So thats what I did.
Since then my previous aperture library: "2011" will not open.  I have created a new aperture library "2012", and it runs fine.  I have added new photos for about the past month...no problems.
When I launch aperture with 2012 library then try to switch libraries, I get the following prompt: "The selected library is from an older version of Aperture and requires a relaunch to switch."  I choose "Relaunch" and I get the following warning prompt: "There was an error opening the database for the library “~/Pictures/Aperture Library 20111.aplibrary”."  The only option is "Quit"
    Both libraries are version 3.2.3
    Computer stats: 3.06 GHz Core 2 Duo, 8 GB 1067 MHz DDR3 RAM, OS X 10.6.8
I have tried to launch aperture troubleshooting by holding option+command from both the aperture icon and from the library file, neither will launch the troubleshooting feature.
I am ok with computers, but not a whiz (mechanical engineer)...to me it seems as though there is a corrupt path or file or some sort of "check" that is failing, becuase the failure occurs so fast after trying to launch aperture. Maybe that doesn't make any sense but just a thought.
I hope that you may be able to provide some insight.  Thank you again for you time and I hope that you have a nice day!
    Mike

This was first reported 10 days ago. Had to be out of the country for a week - without photoshop working-- and now I'm back with the same problem. Can someone please help, or do I dump this and try to get some help just reloading the program?

It had 4 years of photos and videos on it.
To what did your camera record those photos and videos - camera's internal memory, inserted memory card, other?
Any remote chance that the latter may still exist for you to use to download the camera files to your new external hard drive?

Actually, wasting bandwidth is a waste of people's resources who offer to help here. You posted and got answers to your post. What you thought of that would be better (for you) was posting it in every corner of AD that might get read would give you a response 30 nanoseconds faster than posting once. So read your answer and enjoy your computer.
All you need to do is post in the right forum section, and wait for a response. It will come unless nobody has a clue which rarely occurs.

Can you attach a screenshot or link to the instructions you are following?
You are on the 3.6 release and Firefox 7.0.1 is out. You can download and install the latest release from http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/new/ if you would like to update now. The 3.6 version will be maintained for a while longer, but you should update when you can.

OK good, version 2 on Mountain Lion would be dicey.
Do you have backups of the library? If you don;t now would be a good time to make one.
The first step is to run the Aperture library first aid procedures. Hold down the option (alt) and command keys while starting Aperture. This will open the first aid window. Now select and run Library Repair.
Once it is done post back the results.
    Good luck
