Aperture won't update Photo Stream

I have downloaded Aperture 3.2, and have moved to iCloud.
When I take photos on my iPhone, they appear very quickly on my iPhone and iPad in the "Photo Stream" album of the Photos app.
It seems they only show up in Aperture if I go to the preferences, and disable Photo Stream.  Then when I re-enable Photo Stream through the same preference dialog it updates, and all my pictures then show up.
How often is it supposed to update in Aperture, and why does it only update when I disable and re-enable Photo Stream in the preferences?

I have the exact same issue as briansp.
To see if Photo stream really works in Aperture... I was a bit cheeky and walked into an Apple Store and set up my iCloud account on a MacBook Air...  I then launched Aperture on the Air...turned on Photo Stream... and then I took a photo on my iPhone and it worked perfectly. It appeared in Aperture like it should.
So it's either something to do with my WiFi network at home, or maybe I need to uninstall Aperture on my Mac and reinstall and see if that fixes it.
Either way it's annoying.
But at least I saw it work in the Apple Store.

Yes, you do. Aperture supports iCloud and Photo Stream since Aperture 3.2.x.

  • Can't Update Photo Stream

I have installed the iCloud Control Panel app for Win7 and I have an iPad2 with iOS5.01.
I am trying to sync pictures and on my PC's control panel app in the taskbar I have the message "Can't Update Photo Stream"
    Any ideas?
I have logged out and in , turned off the iCloud for Photos on my iPad and PC and still the same.
    Thanks
    Marc

Ditto for my wife's PC.  I uninstalled the iCloud control panel, rebooted, ran Apple's Software Update (which brings up the iCloud software for you to optionally download it), downloaded and reinstalled the iCloud control panel, and everything worked again.  I've had to do this twice so far.  It was working fine until Microsoft Software Update installed some patch on the 14th, and then it was no-go.

  • Aperture won't update to 3.6 under Yosemite

I updated my computer this evening to Yosemite, and all of a sudden Aperture does not work.  So, I see that there is an update available for Yosemite compatibilty, and when I go to update, I get the following error:  And this was a legit copy of Aperture that I bought way back when 3 came out (actually it was an upgrade from v2)... Any ideas?

OK, here is the solution that worked for me... a total pain in the rear, but hey it worked and I'm back in business...
    - Download the latest version of OSX (prior to Yosemite) that you can from the App Store (once it downloads it will tell you it can't install, that's ok, we just need the installer)
    - Download and install VMWare Fusion from www.vmware.com (they have a free thirty day trial).
    - Once VMWare is installed, it will open up a wizard for creating a new Virtual Machine. Choose "Install from a Disc or Image" and then in the next screen, choose "Use another disc or image" at the bottom of the screen, then navigate to the "Install OS X Mavericks" which is now in your Applications folder.
    - Once you have chosen this and clicked next through the next few wizard screens (asking where you will place the VM, etc) you will begin the MAC install on the Virtual Machine which takes about 30 mins or so.  Once it is up I logged in with my apple id that I am using on my main machine (we are trying to map our aperture license to our apple id)
    - Go grab a coffee, beer, glass of whiskey and wait.
    - Once the install is complete and you are up and running on your Virtual Machine with Mavericks (which is the version i installed, but previous versions may work as well), now it is time to install Aperture on your Virtual Machine... You may have to map your CD drive with the installation media to the VM... Go to the Virtual Machine Menu, then select CD/DVD and then "Connect CD/DVD".
    - Once Aperture is installed on your virtual machine, now go to the app store in the VM... Aperture won't be listed as an application to update "surprise", but if you scroll to the bottom of the page you will see a link for Incompatible software, click it and Aperture will show up... Now click Aperture in that list and it should bring you to the Aperture product page... on this page click "Update".  It will then tell you that 3.6 is not available to run on your operating system, but it can install the latest possible version of the application.  Confirm this and let it update.
    - I opened aperture on the VM, but not sure that this is necessary.
    - On your Yosemite installation, now go to the updates in the App Store and attempt to update Aperture... once I had updated the Aperture on my Virtual Machine, I was now magically able to update the Aperture on my Yosemite installation and it works (at first the icon on my tray didn't update, but clicking on it brought Aperture back up again!)
I hope this helps... this really put a scare in me last night and I've been trying to find a solution... I didn't want to roll back to a prior version of OSX just because I couldn't access my 500+GB of photos :-)

  • Aperture won't update from 2.1.2 to 2.4

I've downloaded the Aperture 2.4 update two times, but it doesn't seem to update after my computer is restarted. It still says that I'm running version 2.1.2. When I select Apple>Software Update, it indicates that all my software has been updated.
I'm trying to get the 2.4 update because I need Aperture to accept my Canon 50D RAW files.
Anyone else have this problem or have a solution?

I think you are confusing the +Digital Camera Raw Compatibility Update 2.4+ with a new version of Aperture.
The latest version of Aperture is still 2.1.2.
The raw compatibility update will not change the Aperture version. The raw converter update is independent of Aperture and can be installed even if you do not have Aperture installed. Raw files can be viewed in the Preview application - and the raw update covers this functionality too.

  • Why won't my Photo Stream update to my new iPad?

I just upgraded to an iPad4 and after a bit of a struggle all my apps were successfully installed from my original iPad.
But, photostream only lownloaded the last 2 weeks of photos (only about 6 from my iPhone).
How can I get the rest of what's in PhotoStram uploaded to the iPad?

I'm having the same problem with both my iPhone 5 and my iPad.

  • Aperture won't put photos in Photostream

I am suddently unable to use Aperture to upload pictures to a Photostream.
I have a photostream that I am trying to add to that has just under 300 pictures.  I select the pictures I want, click the "Share" Icon, and then nothing happens.  I select the pictures I want, and then drag and drop them on Photostream in the far left column, and nothing happens.  I've been trying for days and cannot get pictures to go in.
I thought it was because I had so many pictures in it, but it won't even let me add them to a new stream.  Any help?
    I'm running Aperture 3.4.5 on OS X 10.8.4 on a 15" 2.6 GHz i7 with 8GB of RAM.

Hi Joshua, did you find a solution to this problem? I´m experiencing exactly the same. Uploaded 700 photos from aperture yesterday and it just stopped uploading. Today I can't upload at all.
I get no error messages; everything looks as usual except no uploading.
What I can see, I haven’t exceeded the limits.
    Aperture 3.5.1, OSX 10.9.1, 2.8 GHz i7 & 8GB of RAM.

  • Aperture won't import photos from camera?

I'm a longtime Aperture user and have the very latest update from Aperture V.3.1.1
For some reason, I was able to import 10 photos fine this morning, then wasn't able to do it again. I have my Canon camera importing through a USB cable directly, and Aperture recognizes that the camera is attached, and lists it the import list. However, the images on the card are not displayed.
The card and camera are in good working order, and I was able to import the images to my harddrive with OSX's 'image capture' application, then into Aperture from the HDD.
I have rebooted the computer, camera and Aperture multiple times. Anyone have suggestions?

    Glad to help.
And thanks for confirming that *Do not import duplicates* works for someone other than me

  • IPod won't update photos-error code 208

I am having trouble updating my iPod with my photos. It will update my music, but will not transfer any photos. I have uninsalled and reinstalled iTunes, reset and rebooted the iPod, and ensured that my settings to transfer photos are correct: synchronize photos from My Pictures, Copy all photos, Include full-resolution photos. Does anyone have any sugestions?

I am having the same problem, except on a Mac (Powerbook). I just received my new iPod (5thG 60 GB) and it synched all the songs and videos. It won't sync my photos from iPhoto though and gives me a -208 error.
Does anyone know why this is or what can be done to solve this? Thank you.

  • When I share an album from Aperture to my iCloud photo stream, the people that receive it can only see the photos and and no titles or numbers which is necessary to have client's refer to a specific exposure.

I have had this problem for a while but cannot seem to figure it out, ever since Apple somehow decided it would be a good idea to dump MobileMe ( which worked perfectly for my needs) I can no longer send clients a contact sheet or webpage of a photo project with names, titles or numbers on each exposure. All they get is a webpage with an asymetrical layout which appears that I am trying to affect their decision and then if they do click on the image they will get the image by itself but only the time & date is displayed which is not much help because we may have a dozen shots taken during the same 60 second period. I have tried all kinds of setting withine Aperture but cant seem to change the displayed outcome on the iCloud photostream.

You can't see the contents of an iCloud backup on the iCloud website.

  • Aperture won't import photo with a tilde (~) in filename

I imported my photo library from iPhoto to Aperture (3.0.1) but noticed 533 photos were missing. Even using Import -> Show iPhoto Library, and then dragging the missing Events or photos into Aperture would not work. Aperture was missing some entire iPhoto Events, and then missing some random photos from within other Events.
After staring at it long enough, I finally noticed that all 533 seemingly unrelated photos all have a tilde (~) in their filename. My old Canon handheld (or some old Canon software) automatically put a tilde in the filename of these photos. Although the Aperture import function can see these photos and display their filename (i.e. 102-02~9), Aperture will not import them. When I try to import one of these Events or photos, Aperture creates an empty Project. iPhoto, Finder, and PhotoShop don't have any problems with a tilde, and I don't see any restriction against it in the User Manual.
I had to export these iPhoto photos into a folder, and batch rename them so their filename does not have a "~" in it, and then import them into Aperture. This will keep the EXIF data, but it will strip any keywords -- but those can be added during the import. Although you can batch change titles in iPhoto, I couldn't figure out how to change the iPhoto filename, which seems to be causing the problem.
I submitted an Aperture bug report.

I had to export these iPhoto photos into a folder, and batch rename them so their filename does not have a "~" in it, and then import them into Aperture. This will keep the EXIF data, but it will strip any keywords -- but those can be added during the import.
File -> Export. Check the box at 'Title and Keywords' in iPhoto and the keywords will be written to the file.
Although you can batch change titles in iPhoto, I couldn't figure out how to change the iPhoto filename, which seems to be causing the problem.
File -> Export, using the Title as Filename is one of the options in the resulting dialogue in iPhoto. Select it from the Drop down at Filename...

  • Photo stream not updating in aperture

I import all my photos through the import tool in Aperture. I'm noticing that the photos are not uploading via wifi to my photo stream. Even if i select the photos once in Aperture and click the 'photo stream' button on the top toolbar, most of the pics never upload. I dont see them on my ipad, itouch or iphone. I've checked the user preferences in Aperture and have checked off the little box beside send to photo stream. But still, nothing. Incase it matters, i shoot everything on a canon 5D and Rebel XTI in RAW+Jpeg. I ingest both RAW and Jpeg when importing to aperture and have set RAW as the master file when importing. Can someone help out here?
    thanks
    AJ

I was able to force a download of my photostream by disabling Automatic Import and Automatic Upload in Preferences>Photostream.

  • Aperture won't put edited photos in iCloud photo stream

I just tried uploading a large number of photos (~1700) from Aperture to an iCloud photo stream.  About 1300 of them made it. All of the ones that did not had an adjustment badge in the lower right corner of their thumbnails.  It seems that Aperture is not uploading any of my edited photos.  I can't seem to find any information on the web (from Apple or otherwise) that addresses this problem.  Has anyone else had it and (fingers crossed) know of a solution?

Unless it has changed (and with all the new stuff going one it might have) there is a limit in the number of images you can upload to the stream. See My Photo Stream and iCloud Photo Sharing limits
Sounds like you might be bumping up against that.
    <edit>
For what it is worth I have never had any problems uploading edited images to a Stream. The Stream will not reject an image because it is edited.
