Aperture wont launch since 10.6.5 update

Aperture 3 wont launch. I get a message saying opening Aperture library for a few seconds then the spinning wheel shows up, then nothing.... until i click the software update button in the top left drop down, then as if by magic Aperture opens up on the screen. Everything was fine until I updated. Does anybody have any ideas. The same happens with Lightroom 3 also.

And it behaves normally after that? Do you by any chance have Spaces enabled with Aperture assigned to any particular Space? If so, try disabling *System Preferences->Expose & Spaces->Spaces* temporarily and see if there's any change.

OK, supports recommendation works. He told me the App Store version has some issues with writing the pro files out (where the retail version does it correctly).
He had me uninstall (move) the app to my desktop, download and install the trial with the trial key, then replace the file with my App Store downloaded one.
It WORKED....for the first time I've got Aperture and Final Cut Express loaded together and working.

Mail app wont open since 10.5.6 update

I updated yesterday from 10.4 to 10.5.6 to get ilife. Since then, mail mail app wont open. I click, one bounce and nothing! When I go to restart my G5 it shows mail as being open. I can open a new viewer from the upper tool bar, this will shoe me my folders, but wont open, and nothing appears in my inbox. I can see all my messages and send and receive via web on mobile me. Ive tried syncing... seems the issue is mail not opening to begin with. I getting a wee bit desperate!

Toast 11.2 won't launch since 10.9.4 update

Since Maverick 10.9.4 update, i'm not able to launch toast 11.2 build 3175 . click on the app, it flash, but nothing appears ...
toast uninstalled and re installed, 10.9.4 combo re installed, permissions repaired, but no change ...
any idea ?

Problem solved . after crash log analysis, it came from a damaged framework. replaced with a Time machine copy, and now it's ok !

Ipod touch 5 wont charge since 7.1.2 update

i have a ipod touch 5 but since i updated it it wont charge, i have bought a new cable and it charges my sisters ipod 5 what has not been updated, it says charger is accepted when its off but when it turns back on it doesn't work, i have reset my ipod too what can i do since its not recognized by my itunes? and btw i have left it plugged in over night turned off to see if it would work and it never i have been patient with apple with their crappy chargers but this is too far and i do not see any other questions like this, please someone help

I had the same exact problem, iOS 7.1.2 blocks 3rd party chargers, and i was using one
Assuming you also are using a 3rd party charger, here is a way to charge your ipod touch that i discovered after some experimentation.
Step 1.) Plug lightning cable into the ipod touch and a 5 watt wall plug(or computer).
Step 2.) Power off the ipod(This shuts down ios and prevents it from detecting the 3rd party charger).
Step 3.) Wait an hour or two.
Step 4.) Unplug the iPod touch
Step 5.) Power on the device.
This should work, it worked for me, just note you will not be able to sync your ipod touch with itunes, and i recommend purchasing a "certified" apple lightning cable.

Finder won't launch since 10.5.6 update

Hi Everyone, I'm having a serious issue with my mac. Since yesterday at lunchtime when i ran a software update, the only thing i can do is log in and from then on nothing, i get the standard space image and nothing else(not even desktop icons). I pushed option, Cmd and esc to see if i could relaunch finder, but it wasn't in the list so it didn't even start up!
I've tried booting in safe mode, still the same.
any ideas?

Have you tried booting holding the ⌘-s keys for Single User Mode? If it works at the prompt type, *fsck -fy* and press "return" it should do a disk repair. Run it again if errors are found until all errors are repaired. When that is finished press return again, then type reboot press return to get back to the Mac the way you know it.
Do you have a backup you can try booting from? Another option is to use another Mac in Firewire target disk mode, so you can copy data from it.

Web pages on my home page wont open since i did the update

ever since i did the most recent update for firefox version 5.0 the web pages on sympatico will not open i have even restarted a few time to no avail.

There is a dynamic library missing from you sytsem library.
The easiest way to fix this is by reinstalling MacOS X. Boot into recovery and reinstall the system. You can install on top of your current system, see: OS X: About OS X Recovery http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4718
This error is usually cause by an old installation of Final Cut. Did you recently install Final Cut?

Like many others I have been reading about online I am having the same error. I tried the fix listed above and simply wasted 30 minutes of my time. I scheduled a time for Apple to call and help me through this and their solution was for me to call Microsoft for some reason?!! iTunes made me upgrade then stopped working - I really don't see how this is a Microsoft problem??
Like Darren if a solution is not found quickly I will also have to sell my phone as the only way to get videos and music on my phone is through the software that you made me upgrade, broke and won't help me fix.

Since a recent software update-most of my applications will no launch :-(

I ran Software Update this morning and after rebooting, several of my Apple applications won't even launch.
The apps that won't launch are Mail, Safari, iTunes, iPhoto in fact pretty much most of them. I am feeling very depressed and pretty much gutted that my beloved Mac laptop is going to the heavens and everything i have on it will go.. i did do a full back back up 4 weeks ago but i am unable to boot from the carbon copy clone because the laptop wont let me... can someone PLEASE PLEASE help me... i have tried going to the apple shop in brent cross london.. they only allocate 20 mins max for any issues so that was pretty much a waste of time...
i have always really looked after my laptop-infact it is imaculate, always done software upgrades weekly and do not have anything dodgy programme wise or third party wise for it to cause any issues.. at least i dont think i do..
i am very confused as i can use firefox to browse the web, word and address book, quicktime..so it cant be my hard drive can it.. have done full verify and disk repairs ( several times) and there seems to be no errors
it will not fire carbon copy cloner so that i can at least back up remainder of my photos of my baby daughter..
i unable to drag onto another harddrive for back up purposes either

The apple shop said i should reboot from my back up-which i cannot do and delete the entire contents of my hard drive on the G4 and try reinstalling everything.. i very very reluctant to do this.. i have photos of my 4 year old since he was 1 min old.. i cant go there....the thought of.. as i said i have backed up fully everything twice and then the main ones like i-photo seprately as well..
i dont have much confidence in that as my 80gig porche lacie does not seem to be visible when i plug it into the computer.. though the other 30oG lacie appears fine... i wish i could do an incremental back up with CCC but it wont launch to cover myself?

How much free drive space is on the PBookG4?
Right or control click the MacintoshHD icon. Click Get Info. In the Get Info window you will see Capacity and Available. Make sure you always have a minimum of 10% to 15% free disk space at all times.
Insufficient disk space could be the cause of all these problems.
Have you tried booting from your install disk and check the drive for errors?
Are you running anti virus software by chance?

Aperture wont start , it needs an update and is telling me to log onto a hotmail account that no longer exists so I am stuck .I would even re-purchase aperture just to get up and running again but I cant do that either - help, I need these photographs !

Aperture wont start when I booted up this morning . There is an upgrade that it needs to install and I am being directed to log onto a hotmail account that does not exist to install it . I cant get any sense out of hotmail and the account has been deleted because I have never used it .

I kew there is an update cause when I clicked on updates , there was an update that I needed cause Aperture was not running as it should ie . it would not load
I am running Mavericks OS.
My Apple ID is the same as my email account but I have discovered that I have two Apple ID accounts and I could not remember my password on the one that I used to download the original Aperture - I have since contacted Apple and they have merged the two so Ihave sorted it out that way .
When Aperture would not start , it wasn't asking me to log onto my email account, it was asking me for my Apple ID which was the same thing but it was my emergency ID and I could not remember the password . Being enturely thick where computers are concerned , I got very confused and remain confused because having bought a new MACBOOK AIR , I find it wont recognise my back up hard drive or my AIRPORT so I am not having a great time with MAC products to be honest - cant get my business back up and running after nearly three weeks so Apple and MAC are not my favourite words !
Anyway, I did get it sorted finally by ringing Apple but thanks for replying anyway - it turned out that Aperture was the very least of my problems when my hard drive failed installing Mavericks - wasnt Mavericks fault, my drives have to work hard and it just died .

Can you start QuickTime on your computer?
You'll probably have to search for the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility and use it to remove QuickTime Player and iTunes. Then download and install the iTunes again.

What version of iPhoto are you using? 9.6 is the current version.
Do a backup.
Quit the application.
Go to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J. When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. That should make your user library folder visible in your user/home folder. Select Library. Then go to Preferences/com.apple.iPhoto.plist. Move the .plist to your desktop.
Restart, open the application and test. If it works okay, delete the plist from the desktop.
If the application is the same, return the .plist to where you got it from, overwriting the newer one.

WEP wont work but WPA will since 10.4.10 update

Since 10.4.10 update anywhere i go that has a WEP security wont connect no matter what yet if I ask the person to flip to WPA it does work. If i boot a windows laptop WEP connects no worries on any of these various routers. It is very frustrating as some of the places I stay they won't change to WPA instead of WEP

Okay... when you click on the airport icon and select the network you wish to join, as you are aware, if it is encrypted, you will be presented with a window where you enter the password. Within that window, above the password field, there is a "Wireless Security" drop down menu. This may list different encryption strengths for the WEP encrypted wireless network (64-bit, 128-bit etc).
Is there such a list in the network you are trying to join and, if there is, have you tried selecting different options and then entering the password?

I am using Firefox 4.0.1 as my default browser on a laptop running Vista home premium. I routinely print postage on the USPS site. The normal routine is to create a shipping label, click print and pay, wait a couple of seconds as Adobe launches which shows a thumbnail of the label and the setup data for my network printer. Since last weekend's update, Adobe will no longer launch on Firefox but will with IE. Thanks for any solution. /Mike L

When you updated to OS10.9.4, did you do a clean install or an inplace update and migration. The CS3/10.9.4 combination is unsupported and you will be on your own with this. Try running the cleaner tool and reinstalling the CS3 from the original media.
