Aperture3 : AppStore version for $80 vs. $99 upgrade

How does the AppStore version of Aperture for $80 differ from the $99 upgrade in the Apple Store
My version of Aperture 2.1.4 is crashing since upgrading to Snow Leopard and it looks like my only option is to throw money at the solution (how convenient for Apple)
So, why is the AppStore version cheaper? What does the $199/$99 version get you?

There are already several threads on this forum on the same topic. No sense in starting a new one. I posted my response into the appropriate threads. The general sense is that Aperture 2 is no longer supported so good luck getting anything fixed. The standard answer is upgrade to the latest version, (as is the wont of most software company's) in this case Aperture 3. Nowhere in any of my research for a solution did I find mention of the Library being the root. If you have a Library based solution there are dozens of people in these pages who would like to find an answer.
I'm not suspicious of Apple, its the business model of many software company's. It's just exhausting having to go through this merry go round every time one aspect of our/my system gets upgraded. Everything down the chain has to get an upgrade. I know its the price of progress. I just wish it weren't so frustrating or expensive. I can't afford to upgrade $3000 of software every time I perform a $100 OS upgrade.
Cheers

  • Which version do I need to upgrade to Elements 10.

If I want to upgrade from Elements 7 to Elements 10, can I buy the full version or do I need the Upgrade version to be able to read all my information (tags, catagories, edits)?  I can find the full version for less $ than the Upgrade version. Thanks.

Thanks for the info! Interesting that the Full version can be found cheaper than the Upgrade. Good to know there is not some kind of catch that would come back and bite me ( like not being able to access my photo info: tags and edit info).

  • I pay for upgrading ifindyou and it doesn't work!!!! it clearly says that it tracks only your mobile in the lite version, after you ask the upgrade for all the mobile... can we call this a fraud????

I am attempting to upgrade from Adobe Premier Elements 9 to Adobe Premier Elements 13 after using 13's trial version for a few weeks.  I am unable to find where and how to do this without losing the project I have been working on.  Please help?

    Vere Clarke
Premiere Elements 9.0/9.0.1 and Premiere Elements 13 are standalone products.
So, you can have both on the same computer, but only open one for your work.
The classical recommendation is to finish a project in the version in which it was created since there
is no guarantee that a project from an earlier version will open in the later version. Probably will, but
no guarantees. And, when you do explore this, do it from a copy of the earlier version project. Once you
take the earlier version project into a later version one, you cannot go back to edit the later version edited
project in the earlier version program.
If you have both versions (9 and 13) on the same computer and you have not moved, deleted, renamed any of the version 9's files/folders,
right click the saved closed Premiere Elements 9.0/9.0.1 project file, select Open With, and then Adobe Premiere Elements 13.
(Your 9.0/9.0.1 saved closed project file should be found in Libraries/Documents/Adobe/Premiere Elements/9.0.)
Please review and consider. If any questions or need clarification, please do not hesitate to let me know.
    Thank you.

Problem viewing forms. This form is not supported with the current version of Adobe Reader.
Upgrade to the latest version for full support.
What exactly do I need to do?

That means you were probably using Adobe Acrobat to view PDF's. Acrobat is totally unnessary, you can view PDF's in Preview (Applications - Preview).
BTW PLEASE complete your profile. It's very difficult to help  someone when they don't provide any information about their system. You can easily do this by clicking Your Stuff in the upper right of this page, then click Profile and fill in the pertinent information.

Thanks, I was thinking so. I installed my CS4 from a CD in 2008, and it looks like Adobe has taken another approach to selling their products. I'll be downloading CC Photoshop a little later today.

  • I have Photoshop 5.0 Limited Edition.  Can I upgrade this to a more current version for free? If so, how?

    Hi
I have loaded photoshop version 5 onto my computer in order to view a psd file, but the file is from a more up to date version and contains incompatible material.  Can I update the version 5 copy I have to a more current version so the file would work?
Would this just be a question of downloading something online or would I have to pay to upgrade?
I did try to look at the adobe upgrade section but it all seemed meant for more current versions than mine
Any help would be greatly appreciated

    Are you being serious?
What you can do is avail yourself of the free 30 day trial period of a more current version, though.

  • I need version for Mac OS 10.7.5 - can't upgrade t...

    Help!
I had Skype on my Mac but due to a lot of documentation that it could cause some problems with excel's cut-and-paste feature (which it strangely did) I removed it, assuming that I could reinstall it later. The problem is it got erased out of my trash. Now I need to reinstall it but the latest version that comes with the installer requires MAVERICKS as the OS.
The problem is I'm in the middle of a big Final Cut Pro (version 7) project and everything I read says I should NEVER upgrade my OS while in the middle of a project.
I really want to get my Skype back - how can I get the version for 10.7.5? HELP!
    Solved!

Hi, Clairemp, and welcome to the Community,
As is noted, above, there are now a limited selection of current versions of Skype software and apps that are supported by Skype.  Even if I did trust downloading the Skype software from any place other than Skype, older versions will no longer work.
    Regards,
    Elaine

  • HT6012 I had an older version of Mac OS, I upgraded to Snow leopard and then OSx Lion, most of my software has been upgraded except for Imovie.  Now I can't get my projects to upload or share to iDVD or iTunes.  What do I do?

I had an older version of Mac OS, I upgraded to Snow leopard and then OSx Lion, most of my software has been upgraded except for Imovie.  Now I can't get my projects to upload or share to iDVD or iTunes.   Also to compound the situation everytime I attempt to share to iDVD or iTunes, iMovie quits unexpectedly.    What do I do?

If you want to sync it to the iPad from that Mac, you need to upgrade it to at least 10.5.8.
If you want to copy the music to another Mac, you don't. Move the iTunes folder of the item in the Finder's sidebar over as you would any other folder. If you put it somewhere other than the Music folder, launch iTunes with the Option key held down and point it to that location.

  • Requirements for Special Offer (CS3 Upgrade or Full Version?)

    Hello,
I'm thinking about upgrading from CS6 to Creative Cloud and have a question regarding the requirements for the special offer. On the website it says "Requires prior purchase of CS3 or later" and I'm wondering if I need a full version of CS or an upgrade? I have a Photoshop 6 (Full Version) and a "Design Standard CS3 Upgrade" - is this enought to qualify for the special offer?
That would also mean, I could sell my independet upgrade-packages of CS5 and CS6, since I would not have a need for them if I keep the CC-subscription.
    Thanks
    Jan

    Piotr,
Based on Dec9's comment, it sounds like an upgrade.
    However, you state:
had the licence transferred to me.
Did the seller furnish you with the "official" Adobe license transfers. There is paperwork involved, and did you get that? What does it say? Adobe makes it easy for a seller to transfer a license legally to another, and there is necessary paperwork involved. You should be, first able to see how Adobe noted the software, and if there is confusion, then will have something to use, when you contact Adobe C/S on licensing/Activation issues. Or, you'll have paperwork to use against the seller when you contact eBay.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • I uninstalled Java get this messag - Missing JAVA? For your safety, Firefox has disabled your outdated version of Java. Please upgrade to the latest version.

I am using Windows 7 premium 64-bit. I have uninstalled Java completely through Windows program manager. There is no Java in my list of plugins. Every time I update my plugins I get the following message - "Missing JAVA? For your safety, Firefox has disabled your outdated version of Java. Please upgrade to the latest version." I cannot find Java anywhere on my computer. Checked every troubleshooting website I can find but there seems to be no solution.

hello, is this happening on the plugin-check page - https://www.mozilla.org/plugincheck/ ?
if so, you can probably safely dismiss this warning since it's likely a mistake. when java isn't present, the site will give that warning message though a webpage cannot detect if this because of java being blocked or if it isn't even installed on the system.
