Aperure slideshows on Apple TV

Hi,
I am contemplating purchasing an Apple TV but would like to be sure I can run slideshows from Aperture 3 on my HDTV, using Apple TV. I am not sure it can do it. When I try Front row, it shows I Photo slideshows and Apertures projects, so pictures , but no access to Aperture slideshows.
Would anyone have te answer whether it is possible or not?

Welcome to the Apple Community.
Not as such. The Apple TV will see the photos that make up the aperture slideshow but will apply it's own settings (music & transitions), although you can adjust these settings from the Apple TV.

  • How do I show and aperture slideshow on Apple TV?

I would like to show an aperture slideshow on Apple TV with airplay.  Is this possible or do I have to export it as quicktime or something fir

Do you have any suggestion for making my flat screen color match my monitor better? I calibrate my monitor using Color Eyes Display Pro, so I am aware that I may never have an exact match, but it would be great to be closer.
    Also, what is 'handbrake'?
    Thanks again!
Handbrake is a video conversion application. It transcodes DVDs, BluRay video or any simple video file such as those output by Lightroom into almost anything you want, but focused on files that iPhones and AppleTV understands. It's online here: http://handbrake.fr/ . I use it on all my video to lower the filesize significantly. I don't do a lot of video, but sometimes do "behind the scenes" stuff simply in iMovie, but the files that output are crazy large and can be really lowered in size simply by running them through handbrake.
Regarding the color matching, this can generally be done by calibrating the settings on your HDTV using something like a calibration disk. Generally these TVs (even if they are big name brands) come really badly calibrated out of the box to oversaturate color and give way too much contrast and far too high black levels as that is what consumers tend to like. They are also generally set up to sharpen the images, which you really do not want as it changes contrast (it impacts gamma) and such so turn off all sharpening and all dynamic contrast modes in the TVs menus. If you have kids, the Disney BluRay disks include a calibration tool that works really well. I have used the one on our Toy Story 3 BluRay disk to calibrate the living room HDTV. Afterwards I get really good matching results from it when streamed to from the AppleTV.

  • How to time slideshow on apple tv?

I have a new Apple tv and would like to increase the duration of items displayed in a slideshow. My photos are in an Aperture 3 library. Is it possible? How?
    Using OS X 10.8.2.

Your inability to repeat this made me start thinking in Sherlock Holmes mode. I turned everything off and started carefull examining each step, one at a time. At the point of selecting the duration from the options presented, I selected 20 seconds - and pressed the Select button. What I had not noticed is that pressing Select changed the selection to 2 seconds. By selecting 20 seconds and then pressing the Menu button, the selection was left and 20 seconds.
My problem was certainly a result of my own inattention to what was happening as I pressed buttons on the control. But perhaps the human interface is odd, too?
Thanks for your help. I give you a 10.

  • How do I select a specific folder of photos for a slideshow on Apple TV?

Using Apple TV 3 and Mountain Lion on Mac Mini. I am making a slide show on Apple TV. The thing is, unlike in the music function, in which I see all my playlists listed, in the Slideshow function all I see is "Photos", and the photos shown are only those from the first folder in pictures, so that is all that is available for me from which to make the slideshow. How do I use Apple TV to view all my folders of photos, so that I can select the correct folder of pictures from which to make the slideshow?

No, sorry, that's how Migration Assistant works -- the most recent backup is the one it uses.
Your best bet might be to restore whatever you need from that last backup somewhere else, then delete it (see Time Machine - Frequently Asked Question #12), so the last backup is the one you want.

  • Using iPhoto slideshows with Apple TV

I am unable to get a slideshow I made in iPhoto 08 to sync to Apple TV. I imported it into iTunes, and it plays fine from there, but the menu pick to allow it to be formatted for Apple TV is grayed out. I would appreciate help in getting this to work.
    Thanks -
    Dudley Warner

Hello, I don't have any of those things, but...
    Long shot, but...
Open Audio Midi Setup in Applications>Utilities, see the input & output options & KHz setting there, some things will change it for their own use, then not set it back.

  • TS2972 no photo slideshow on Apple tv3

Have set up recently purchased apple tv 3 - set up home sharing and selected photos to share from itunes. These load fine, show up individually on the apple tv, but no image appears when selecting slideshow.
Sometimes the screen shows loading and pinwheel, then this freezes, otherwise the screen is blank.
All photos appear loaded in photo screen and individually enlarge when selected.
Screensaver doesn't work at all, unless 'Floating' mode selected.
    Any solutions to this?

I had this exact same problem with my 3rd generation Apple TV up until yesterday. I also have a 2nd generation Apple TV which wasn't having the problem and was able to display photo slideshows.
Just in case anyone else is still having the same problem. The solution for me was to restore my Apple TV to factory settings.

  • No sound when I play iPhoto slideshows on Apple TV

I've loaded music and photo's onto my Apple TV. Before I downloaded the 2.4 software, the music in my iPhoto slideshows played normally. Since the download the slideshows play as I set them up in i'photo but there is no music. My music files are loaded onto Apple TV and will play independently of the photo slideshows.

Seems like even more have this problem, and that it is attributable to 2.4:

Seems extraordinary that an Apple software "upgrade" turns out to be a downgrade and that customers aren't warned before accepting it. Perhaps there's a good reason for this which Apple will reveal in due course, but in the meantime, for customers who want their slideshow music, why can't Apple allow a rewind to 2.3 or an earlier upgrade, to a position somewhere between what's available from the factory reset and 2.4?
It would seem that Apple TV's functionality has declined as a result of 2.4 and that the product is no longer as good as it was. In fact, every Apple TV with earlier software would seem to work better than the current model. Apple seems to have gone backwards with 2.4, not forwards. Does anyone know if the folks at Apple care, or read these forums?

  • Dispalying photo titles in iPhoto slideshows on Apple TV

Hi - I have created a slideshow in iPhoto and selected 'show titles' in the slideshow settings. The titles display fine when I run the slideshow from within iPhoto but fail to show when synced to and played through Apple TV (software version 2.3). Can anyone help?
    Thanks in advance

  • Syncing iPhoto slideshows to Apple TV

I've built my slideshow in iPhoto and linked it to a music track. When I sync to my Apple TV, the slideshow is there but the music track and all the settings are gone. Anyway of fixing this?

You camera shoots 1920x1080 video. An Apple TV supports 1280 by 720 pixels at 24 fps and 960 by 540 pixels at 30 fps.
Your 1920x1080 video needs to be converted to 960x540 for use on your Apple TV.

  • IPhoto slideshows and Apple TV

Sorry - beginner with iMac - but keen to learn!
Having created a slideshow on iPhoto, I am keen to find a simple way to display it on my living room HDTV - as a quicker & more effective alternative to burning it onto a DVD first. At the same time, I want the best quality picture possible on my HDTV, as I'm using an 18 megapixel camera.
Will Apple TV deliver this for me - or is a media hard drive a better option? Alternatively is burning to DVD still the best way to show my efforts to family & friends on an HDTV?

You can export the slideshow as a movie and then import it into iTunes so you can home-share via apple tv.

  • Selecting music for slideshows on Apple TV

When I want to show my photos on Apple TV as a slideshow, the program randomly picks music from my i-Tunes library to accompany the slides. Sometimes the music "works", sometimes it is inappropriate and distracting. Can I control which music accompanies my slideshows without going to the work of formally creating the show in i-Movie?

If you have the latest update for Apple TV and if you have an iPod Touch or iPhone then you can use the Remote Application to change the song while viewing a Photo slide show.

  • Rehearse Slideshow w/ Apple remote triggers FrontRow

I've run into an odd problem with "Rehearse Slideshow" when I use the Apple remote.
The Ffwd and Rew buttons work fine. But if I press the Menu button, FrontRow gets launched. Press Menu again and I'm returned to my desktop, not Keynote (which was still running the rehearsal). And then if I hit play, iTunes starts playing a song!
I've only been working with Keynote for a few days and planned to use it for a presentation this week. I'm concerned that a Keynote / remote combo is really buggy. The documentation says nothing about the remote.
Anyone have any tips on Keynote & the Apple remote? Is it safe?
    Thnx

I pressed the menu button... to see what it does! The manual mentions a slide menu appearing in Play mode. The last thing I expected was FrontRow..
Kyn, I ended up finding links you provided for a similar question. These links provided a clear answer, which I appreciate =)

  • IPad2 slideshow on Apple TV2

I am trying to use the slideshow on my iPad2 and show it on the Apple TV2.  The slideshow starts but stops abruptly after the second slide and brings me back to a blank screen on the TV and a single image on my iPad2.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hmmm....don't think so.  It came with my Apple TV2.  Found it with the remote on the screen in the far right.  Works just fine for music and individual images but can't get it to work with the slideshow for some reason.
    good luck,
