Aperyure contact sheets are printed blurry

When printing contact sheets wich I fill with 6x6 = 36 thumbs on a A4, they look blurry
Printing contactsheets in CS2, I print on 300dpi 6x6 = 36 thumbs on a A4, razersharp!!
How to fix this in Aperture, Aperture works great when making contact sheets out 800 files!!
Joep

I have exactly the same problem!
Does anyone know the reason why, or what the solution is? Are contact sheets being printed off an export setting?

  • Can I make a "contact-sheet" style printed backup of my pictures?

I have over 12,000 photos in my iPhoto library, mostly pictures of my kids. I heard of someone who printed all their pictures from one year in their iPhoto library "contact-sheet" style into a book [I thought an iPhoto book, but I'm not sure], each one with the file name beneath the image, and then burned a cd with all the corresponding images and taped it into the back of the book. That way, whenever they needed an old picture, they'd scan through the printed book, find the picture and its file name, pop in the cd and print the image they wanted. It seems like such an elegant solution (I'd probably print two copies of the book and burn to cds, just to be safe), but the only current theme that can fit more than six pictures per page is the one that won't print captions! Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Yes, you can do that.
1 - select the photos you want to print and hit the Print button. I
2 - in the next window click on the Customize button
3 - in the next window click on the Theme button and select Contact Sheet.
3 - click on the Setting button and select the number of columns and what info you want under each photo.
    That's about it.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • How do you print a contact sheet in sequential order please?

How do you print a contact sheet in sequential or file order number please

If you have the Mac version of iWork/Numbers you can print individual sheets.  My sheets are "printed" on separate pages when using the iCloud beta, so another option may be to print just a range of pages (or a single page) via the print dialog setting in Preview (or your PDF viewer app).

  • Print Images' Contact Sheet problems from specific camera...

I have printed a couple contact sheets (Print Images > Contact Sheet), and all the thumbnails for RAW files from a Panasonic DMC-LX2 all come out squooshed into a square, no matter what the actual orientation of the file is. I have forced an update of the previews and there is no change. Is this a common problem for others? In the preview for printing single images to a page, the images appear normal, but with contact sheets the images from this camera come out square. No problems with my Canon files or other JPGs.
I suspect there is no work-around, but ask just in case. It would be nice if there is, as the contact sheets are for a copyright registration, and the square makes the image possibly illegible in the eyes of a future court, if it ever got to that.

HAs this already been discussed and fixed? hopefully?
It appears to be a bug.

  • Iphoto 08 contact sheet printing

recently my iphoto 08 yields an error when selecting the contact sheet format of printing - it prints a print screen page instead of the selected photos as a contact sheet - the print preview locks as well when trying to preview the contact sheet - any suggestions?

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. First delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your User/Library/Preferences folder, launch iPhoto and try again.
If that doesn't help log into another user account on your Mac and try a contact sheet from there. If you get the same results it's a system wide issue and a reinstall of iPhoto may be required. If iPhoto prints OK there then the culprit is somewhere in your primary user account. Post back with the results.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier versions) database file and keep it current. • LIghtroom And Contact Sheets...PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!

Hello, I am in dire need of help (deadlines! ahhhhh!).
So we have been using lightroom for a couple of months now.
I work as an assistant at a professional studio which does weddings and some private family jobs.
We work on power macs which both have enough power to plan a trip to the moon.
We print on a Canon IPF 5100 and a 5000. Matte Epson 3* paper.
Each wedding is generally 5-7 Sets with 400-600 .NEF images each.
So heres the problem. Contact Sheet Resolution!
We never really had too much trouble with contact sheets, and only recently has it been noticed. Our images are printing so blurry it is hard to tell if eyes are open ect.
We had been printing on draft mode until now. I understand draft mode doesn't produce a fine image, but it seems they were never this bad.
So I tried turning draft mode off. It took hours to process every image (render it down/quality) and then it just wouldn't send it to the printer (at this point I want to throw a brick through my screen).
So my options with LR at this point are complete crap and a few wasted hours with no result.
I have gone back to CS3...A program which makes LR look like MS Paint...
The only problem is this is pretty time consuming and not very flexible.
So Please For all the is worthy on this earth...How can I use LR in a productive way???
    How do you Print C.S's?
    Do you share this problem??
    Much thanks.
    -A Stressed Out Employee.

Hi, I recently upgraded to LR2 (after having used LR1.4). When making contact sheets (3 across and 3 down) I notice that the quality of the outputted PDF file is terrible (I never recall it being this bad with LR1.4; in fact, I recall being able to zoom into the contact sheet quite far and still see decent resulotion). I have fiddled with the Print settings, tried printing in both draft and otherwise (which can take forever). I have tried re-importing the files and rendering both standard previews and 1:1 previews, but nothing seems to have corrected the problem I am having.
    A few interesting points:
    - Using the same photos and contact sheet configuration, the actual size of a contact sheet created in LR1.4 vs. LR2 is different (the LR1.4 contact sheet was actually a larger file). This would explain why I recall better resolution from the LR1.4 sheets I used to create.
    - In LR2, I notice that the portrait photos on contact sheets are lower quality than the landscape photos. I understand that they are actually larger on the sheet (so it might make sense at first look), but even when zoomed into, the landscape photos retain higher quality longer. I don't recall this happening with LR1.4.
Am I doing something wrong with the creation of my contact sheets or is there a setting that I am missing? Any input would be appreciated.
    Thank you, Scott

  • Contact Sheets/Sort - group horizontal shots together and vertical shots together

I've never liked having a mix of horizontal and vertical shots when I print contact sheets. It just doesn't look very clean. I'd love to see a new feature whereby you can sort your photos based on orientation so that they're arranged more neatly when contact sheets are produced.

DISREGARD!!! Duh. I see now that Aspect Ratio does that...somehow never noticed that before...

  • Contact sheet only shows single image; need multiple duplicates

I'm trying to print an image using the "Contact Sheet" setting. I need to output a page containing multiple instances of one single image. When I select the image and select "Contact Sheet," it shrinks the single image down and sticks it in the top-left box of what should be a page full of that single image ... but it's only creating a single instance of the image, and the rest of the blocks on the contact sheet are blank.
I'm ready to put my fist through the monitor. Please help before it's too late. Thanks.

    In the customize window when you click the settings icon ther is a pull down menu in teh resulting screen that lets you select multiple photos pre page and multiples of a photo{quote}
Oh, how I do so wish that were the case, but when I click "Customize" and then get to the subsequent screen containing the "Settings" button, and then click said "Settings" button, I get, as previously stated, nothing but a dropdown that allows me to changes settings only for the text that one can select to accompany one's image, as shown in the screen capture found here:

  • Sorting Photos for Contact sheets

    Hello all,
My family just wants a basic photo archive using a contact sheet style. I can create a contact sheet style in the print options. That part is fine but the problem I'm having is that when I try to print the photos as a contact sheet, all the photo gets all unsorted even though the photos are all sorted by name in the iPhoto albums or events.  How do i correct this so that when print the albums as a contact sheet the photo will stay sorted by name.
    Thanks
p.s. I couldn't get this to work in iPhoto '09 and I have recently upgraded to iphoto '11 and the same problem still exists.

Contact sheets are only sorted by date.  So if you need to print a contact sheet sorted by name put the photos in an album and sort by name.  Then select all and use the Photos ➙ Batch Change ➙ Date menu option.  Use any date and add a couple of seconds between each photo.  Don't modify the original file.
Now when you go to print the contact sheet it will be sorted by date with will be the same as your sort by title.

  • Some Text Prints Clear, Some Text Prints Blurry

I have an HP F4480 all in one printer-scanner-copier.  I recently changed the black ink cartridge with a genuine HP cartridge, printed the alignment page and scanned it as well.  However, some lines of text are printing clear, and others are printing blurry, with a shadow type effect to the letters.  Below is a scan of one of the printouts, I put a blue mark by the blurry lines.  I did an intermediate clean of the print heads, and the following printout (an image of two pears, in color) looks fine.  I did a paper clean feed for good measure too, and still have the same issue.  I have the dpi set at 600 (normal).  I'm running Windows Vista 32 bit operating system.  Any idea what's going on here?  Any help would be much appreciated.  Thanks.

I have the same problem with my F4480. I print from two different computers to the shared printer on one of the computers.

  • Contact sheet orientation landscape

How can I print a contact sheet in landscape orientation?
I don't find a button to change the orientation of a contact sheet in print menu.
The only workaround I found is to rotate the pictures in photos already before printing but then the description will be on the wrong side of the pictures.
    Any suggestion, thanks.

I don't believe you can.  You'll need to use a 3rd party app to create your own landscape contact sheet. If you have Pages it can be done fairly easily.

  • Eps file quality in Bridge contact sheet

    Hi all
Im trying to make a contact sheet of eps files in Bridge, but the quality of the eps' in the final contact sheets are terrible. It doesnt appear to be a dpi issue, more that it appears Bridge is some how using a proxy image instead of the original files to produce the pdf contact sheet. The images look like Quark when the image is missing, jagged and nasty etc.
I have played around with the settings in Bridge as much as it will let me, quality as high as it will go etc. but it doesnt give me the usual pdf creation dialogue box. Do i need to change the settings of the eps' to get a better quality pdf contact sheet?
    Any help is much appreciated.
    A.

Yes for .eps it is using the image/icon preview. Run an action to save as .ai. In thsi exampel both logos are the same size in illustrator (about 6p pts wide)

  • How do I print the thumbnails as they are to make a contact sheet?

How do I print the thumbnails as they are to make a contact sheet?

Not sure what you mean by "as they are"
TO print a contact sheet is extremely simple - select the photos and click print - select the contact sheet theme and make any other selections (printer, paper size, etc) and click print

  • HELP! Different colors in Single print vs Contact Sheet print

Aperture 1.5.1, G5, 10.4.8, Apple 30" display, Kodak 1400 Dye Sub printer, Canon 350D, shooting RAW.
I have a few pictures and I want to print them. They are baby pictures so picture a little baby in standard issue baby yellow tee shirt and wrapped in baby yellow blanket.
I select four pix and go to print images. In Single Images I set it up as Kodak 1400, Color sync profile Kodak 1400 Glossy, no color correction and changes in printer settings. I then do a preview and the images are prepared and displayed in Preview and they look fine.
With the same four images, in Contact Sheet I set it up as Kodak 1400, Color sync profile Kodak 1400 Glossy, no color correction and changes in printer settings. I then do a preview and the images are prepared and displayed in Preview and they look like ****. Baby's yellow cloths are blown out to almost white. The off white wall behind mother and baby is blue.
I've tried several setups and tweaks and I always get the same result. One print on a page looks great, contact sheets look like ****. It's like the contact sheet setup is using completely different color settings than the single sheet setup.
Unfortunately you can't morph a working single sheet into a contact sheet. They have to start from different places (create new single vs create new contact)

  • I can't print a contact sheet

...and it's driving me nuts!  Every time I try to print a contact sheet (to pdf, or to printer), everything just hangs. I get the spinning beachball fo death most attempts, or it spins and spins and finally spits out the pdf after about 10 minutes.   I used to be able to do this quickly with no problem, but something is up now.  I'm running the latest version of Aperture on a macbook pro.  Thanks in advance!

Are you printing the contact sheet through the Aperture print options or some other way?
