APEX 3.0 Training

Anyone know when Oracle will be offering APEX 3.0 Training? I can't seem to find any details on the website.
Bob

user546797,
Oracle Develop will be in the following locations this spring/summer.
Seoul (May 14-15)
Bangalore (May 17-18)
Beijing (May 22-23)
Munich (June 18-19)
Prague (June 21-22)
London (June 26-27)
There is an APEX session and hands-on lab being offered.
For other training, you need to check the Oracle University offerings. This link shows the current course's schedule (for me it shows US, you can change your country and search) http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/show_desc.redirect?dc=D21853GC10&p_org_id=1001&lang=US&source_call=
I have contacted someone at OU to see if there is an easy way to get a world-wide schedule for our current course. If I find the right query, I will post it.

    Does anyone have any information on when Training Classess will be offered?
    Thanks,

    Hi Bob,
    Do you mean ones run by Oracle or by others? I have no idea about the Oracle ones, but there is currently some APEX 3.0 training being run at ODTUG (which I assume you're not at), also there is some APEX 3.0 advanced training in Brussels in September being run by myself and Dimitri Gielis.
    There are more details on the APEX Events page -

  • Any good APEX training class in NJ?

    Hi,
    I'm a newbie to APEX. I'm at the point that I think I could use some serious APEX training.
    what's your thought on APEX training? Did you folks just pick it up by yourself? How? BTW, the thousands of pages of User Manual/Advanced Tutorial do NOT help much, sometimes, they could be even confusing.
    Any pointer to any good APEX training classes in NJ is appreciated. For some reason, APEX training in NJ is not on Oracle University's schedule. Or any other alternative? via video?
    Thanks much,
    Helen

    I took the first two courses on APEX from DBCON (http://www.dbcon.com/courses.html). It's an online course which I'm not a huge fan of normally, but these two courses were helpful for me. The courses also included the "Pro Oracle Application Express" book which has also been helpful for me:

  • Q:Process train in APEX

    Hello,
    I am wondering if there such a thing that would be called "train" in APEX as there is in ADF ( http://jdevadf.oracle.com/adf-richclient-demo/faces/components/findResults.jspx?_afrRedirect=84609682828884#%2FvisualDesigns%2Ftrain.jspx%40%3F_afPfm%3D-e2umezsek%26Adf-Window-Id%3Dw2 )? The idea is to have a number of pages l"linked" together in a train and when ending up on the last page in the result can be submitted (and also you can go between the pages without loosing data).

    That would be called a "wizard" in APEX (as frequently used in the Application Builder). There's minimal support for this: themes have "Wizard Progress List" list templates that can be used as stage progress indicators; and there's a "Wizard wizard" as an option when creating a new page that enables you create and link the basic multiple page structure. After that you have to construct the contents of each page using standard components. Once the "Wizard wizard" is completed there's nothing to indicate that the pages are logically related—strangely it doesn't even generate a wizard progress list for you.
    Use Collections to store the data from intermediate stages before final processing.
    See +{thread:id=1020294}+ (although I see there's now also a Wizard Progress List, Horizontal Train list template)

  • APEX application integration into Java application

    Hello,
    I'm working on a new APEX application and I would like to integrate that application into an existing Java application.
    The integration should be invisible for the end-users. Our application will have the same look and feel as the Java application.
    The existing menu of the Java app will be extended with a new link. This link will then call our application.
    Visually I was thinking about using an Iframe to display the content of the APEX application inside the Java generated xHTML.
    This is however not the biggest issue.
    We are working in a secure context and we thus need to make sure that our APEX application doesn't create a backdoor on the
    security mechanism provided by the Java app.
    Some options have come to mind, but the one that look best is this:
    We keep the java application as the single point of entry for our end-users and make sure that the apex application is "hidden".
    We could do this by means of some re-routing code in the java application so that the incomming requests there are send to the correct server (java or apex).
    Then we will need to capture the response of the APEX application and place it inside the Java generated xHTML. The combined content is then send to the client.
    Or we could place a reverse proxy server that does this for us.
    The goal is thus that we can rely on the existing java application to cover the security and the navigation structure.
    Any ideas on this ?
    How-to's or other options ?
    thanks & regards
    Karel

  • Help with getting a better understanding on how APEX submits its pages

    Hi,
    I have implemented jquery with my app and have just applied the jquery UI plugins.
    I have the jquery UI dialog function working which gives the users some options. Now as an example, I have a cancel and a continue button. If the user clicks cancel it simply stops the page from submitting. Which works perfectly however, I cannot get the continue button to carry on with the request.
    I gather that I will need to determine what the href was of the link/button that was clicked before the dialog box appears.
    I know Apex uses a javascript function call doSumit() which simply submits the page but what does it use for other href like links to other pages?

    The problem is that you're taking a camcorder format that Premiere Elements is able to work with and converting it to a format that it can NOT work with.
    That Canon camcorder produces AVCHD video. You should shoot any video you want to edit in Premiere Elements only in MXP or FXP mode. Then, when you're ready to edit the video in Premiere Elements, you should set up a project for AVCHD 1920x1080 stereo. (Unless you're shooting in 5.1 audio. This cam shoots in a number of formats.)
    DO NOT CONVERT YOUR VIDEO BEFORE YOU PUT IT IN PREMIERE ELEMENTS.
    You can then use these specs to output high-quality video for YouTube.

  • How to hide Hyperlink in APex?

    Hi All,
    I have created a region with Hyperlink as shown below
    1. Who:{a href="javascript:LeadhideOrShowFun()"> <font size="2" color="#FBB117"}Add another participant? </font></a>
    2. The point one should be visible while creating a new form, but when we redirect to update process then i need to disable "anchor tag".
    3. The process i am uisng for redrecting the screen using dialog box.
    4. If we observe my below code i am redirecting to the same page using documnet.href concept.
    5. So when they clik on "Enter" key button then it will be redirect to document.location.href='f?p=&APP_ID.:1:&SESSION.::&DEBUG.:1:P1_CHECK:N';
    by clearing the session.
    6. But when they click on "View" button i will be redirecting to the same page but having concepts what they selected already by uisng
    document.location.href='f?p=&APP_ID.:1:&SESSION.';
    7. During this peocess i need to hide anchor tag so that the screen is mainly used for update process? How to achieve this.
    <script>
         $(function() {
              $( "#dialog:ui-dialog" ).dialog( "destroy" );
    $( "#dialog-confirm" ).dialog({ autoOpen: false })

  • Which is better - SQL Statement in APEX or as a function returning a type?

    Hi
    I have a general question about best practices for APEX development.
    If we have say a report region based on a SQL statement, is it better (from a performance perspective) to have the SQL statement defined in the region in APEX OR have the actual select statement executed in the backend and have the result set returned in a type to APEX?
    As an example:
    In APEX region
    SELECT col1, col2, col3 FROM table_aOR
    In APEX region
    select col1, col2, col3 from TABLE(CAST(<my package>.<my proceduere > AS <my type >)) ;<my package>.<my proceduere > would obviously execute the statement
    SELECT col1, col2, col3 FROM table_ausing dynamic SQL and return the results to APEX in thy type <my type>.
    Apologies if this sounds to be a really stupid thing to ask.
    Kind regards
    Paul

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------thanks Denes... but does it matter if:
    1. The SQL statement is actually defined in the APEX region
    or
    2: The select statement is stored in a packageD function and returned to APEX?
    I seem to recall an article I read stating that it is best for all client applications to call stored procedures and functions rather than have SQL statement embedded in the actual application?

  • APEX and Primary Keys

    Hello:
    I ran into a situation where we have a table with no primary key set. When I tried to create a form, APEX told me that a primary key must be set in order to run reports. This makes complete sense. No issue here. For some of our tables, we can set the primary key.
    The issue we have is that some of our tables are using "natural primary keys". We have tables where more than one column is designated as a primary key. For example, if I have a table with patient_id, organization_id, insurance_id, and expiration date. In order for a record to be unique in this table both the organization_id and insurance_id are set as primary keys.
    If I attempt to create a form in APEX using these tables which have more than one primary key, how will APEX know that there are more than one primary key?
    Thanks for the input.

    In that case you could also use rowid and instead of views. I have an example showing how
    this can be done:

    Srikavi,
    1. The problem with null values is a template problem. Using Firefox and Web Developer Toolbar extension / CSS / View Style Information, you can find out which css class your report is referencing. Open the corresponding css file and add the following to the css class:
    empty-cells:show;border-collapse:collapse;
    It will show the borders for null values after that.
    2. b.fax_0 = '' is not correct. It should be b.fax_0 IS NULL.
    3. You can also try to use the built in property for showing NULL values as in the report attributes.

  • APEX 2.1 and server  file system interaction methods

    Hello experts
    I am building a web application using APEX 2.1 that would be used by a few hundred users as a secure and auditable portal to a word document file library.
    The main use case is that an authenticated user will find links to documents he/she has been granted access of various levels (read only or read/write).
    All the files are stored on the server file system.
    I have a couple of questions:
    1.some file" when placed in an HTML region source does not work. Is this normal ?
    2.Will I have to import the entire file library (very large in size and number of files) into APEX so I can access them from APEX or can I simply use the simple anchor HTML tag above.
    Many thanks. Zemus.
