APEX in French ?

Hello,
I downloaded Oracle Database 11g Express Edition R2 to test Apex (I've never used).
I want to know how to change the language of the version of Apex (integrated with Oracle Database 11g XE)? I would apex in French.
Thank you in advance for your help !

Hi,
XE 11g do not have schema APEX_040200 by default.
I think you can not get French language to XE 11g APEX builder.
What I check file load_fr do not belong XE files.
Your option is upgrade APEX, but remember you will lose database management features.
See e.g. this post
How to access Oracle XE administration page after APEX installation?

Jari

  • APEX in french language

Hi, I did an install of APEX in 2 languages (EN and FR)
When I switch to french, the interface is not showing french special characters
You can see behaviour here : http://5.135.187.49:8080/apex
    APEX Version : 4.2.1.00.08
    OS : Open SUSE
    DB NLS_CHARACTERSET : AL32UTF8
I welcome your help regarding this issue
    Mahmoud

It's likely that your NLS_LANG environment variable was not set properly, prior to staring SQL*Plus and running load_fr.sql.  Please see section 3.3.11.1 at http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E37097_01/doc/install.42/e35123/otn_install.htm#BABBHFGD.
    I hope this helps.

  • Apex developer in French

    Hello
I am testing Apex 4.0 with French Interface.
When i want to create page item ("+Créer un element de page+"), the page " +Create Item+" is different of the English page : there is only first item displayed and in the followings page there is an error. This occurs for "+display Image+", "+display Radio+" ... and work fine for "+Text field+".

    Not quite.
Since upgrading to Lion, the original poster has been transported back 15 years to the good old days of Windows 98, with all the slowdowns and bugs that orginally initated the switch to Mac.
Before upgrading, the original poster asked about problems with VirtualBox and Windows 7 Pro and was assured there were none. The original poster is now looking for people with the same configurations who are having similar problems.

  • APEX LIstener administration via SQLDeveloper 3.2.2 error

    Hi,
I configured the APEX Listener 2 on my server and everything works fine.
I also configured the Restful webservices that also works fine in APEX.
Now , I would like to be able to configure the APEX Listener via SQLDeveloper 3.2.2
I changed the defaults.xml file to allow a non HTTPS connection and configured the adminlistener password.
When I try to connect to the APEX Listener via SQLDeveloper to retrieve the configuration, I get the following error :
Error occured retrieving Administration Settings from Listener.
    Unexpected Content-Type:application/json; charset=UTF-8
APEX Listener is installed on Windows (french version).
    Thanks
    Francis.

Hi Francis, I'm getting the same error.
(I do note however that SQLDev does make the connection - and even though I get the UTF8 error, I can upload/download config files. This would appear to be a warning/info message. But still annoying.)
I am using CentOS 5.8 Linux, Glassfish 3.1.2, SQLDev 3.2.20.09, ApEx 4.2. DB is 11.2.0.3, AL32UTF8. So this problem is not unique to Windows or French.

  • Error while using APEX_LANG.MESSAGE in French translated application

We have an multilingual application (item preference) with English as primary language and French and Spanish as translated versions. The application has been seeded, translated and published and it switches correctly between languages. Except when APEX_LANG.MESSAGE is used in French.
APEX_LANG.MESSAGE renders correctly texts in English and Spanish but in French it throws the following error
ORA-06550: Ligne 1, colonne 7 : PLS-00103: Encountered the symbol "<" when expecting one of the following: ( begin case declare exit for goto if loop mod null pragma raise return select update while with <identificateur> <identificateur entre guillemets> <variable attachée (bind variable)> << continue close current delete fetch lock insert open rollback savepoint set sql execute commit forall merge pipe purge
This is the code that we use
    l_msg := APEX_LANG.MESSAGE(p_name => 'INTRO_TEXT', p0 => l_para0, p_lang => v('FSP_LANGUAGE_PREFERENCE'));
    sys.htp.prn(l_msg);
I don't think the error comes from our code since the Spanish and English work as expected. I have tried all combination of calling the procedure to no avail.
We are running Oracle version 11.1 with APEX 4.0.1 and 4.0.2
System languages French and Spanish have been loaded
Thanking you in advance for your help

    Hi Haritha,
the address to PI webservice must be in the format: http://<hostname>:<port>/ XISOAPAdapter/MessageServlet? channel=
    <party>:<service>:<channel>
    Eg: <soap:address location="http://h03kyq:51000/XISOAPAdapter/MessageServlet?channel=:SDDS_DEV:ssReadSddsAddress" xmlns:soap="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/wsdl/soap/"/>
Do you have access to PI? If so you can derive the webservice address url in there.

  • Report layout in french not displaying french characters properly

    Hello,
I have a report layout that I have created with a 3rd party tool (j4ldesigner). All it has on it is one label (displaying a couple of french characters as a test
). Within APEX I have created a test report layout and imported it as a named column report layout type. I then created a very simple report query and associated it with the test layout. When I run the test report, the layout launches but the characters éâ appear as éâ.
So I'm thinking this has to do with language somehow. I have other reports which are generic named column reports, but those are manually entered and seem to work fine. The named column layout is imported, and I'm assuming some sort of conversion is happening where those special french language characters are concerned.
The fact is this is a 11.2.0.3 database. I was assuming the language set would use the standard language librariy files which come with 11G (ie $ORACLE_HOME/nls/data) so I wouldn't have an issue. Since it is not working, do I need to use the language files associated with 9idata? Or is there an init.ora parameter I am missing?

    Hello,
Within APEX I have created a test report layout and imported it as a named column report layout type.Make sure the Report Layout File is in UTF-8 encoding. Most of the times, the issue is with file encoding type.
If you use text editors like [url http://notepad-plus-plus.org]notepad++ you can see and convert from one encoding to other.

  • Changing Form settings to French

    Hello,
I have changed the settings of my form to be in French . I did this by going into File/Form Properties/Defaults and changing the Form Locale to French (Canada).  There are multiple date fields with Calendars on the form. When the user chooses a date in the future (on my English form) an error message appears saying they are unable to choose a future date. The date then appears in the field, but if they try to submit the form, they get the error message again.
On my French version, if the user tries to select a future date, the date does not appear in the field, nor does the error message come up. If they first choose a date that is valid the date appears, but if they go back and change it to a future date then the error message appears.
Does anyone know why this might be happening? I would like the message to appear whenever they choose a future date.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Nik

Thanks so much, i really appreciate it.
If this does not work do i have another option??Upgrade to 3.0.1 maybe?
Update: I've run steps 1-5 on my test app, works perfectly. As described in the documentation I've created a new entry for the application, generated an XLIFF file, exported it to my local system, translated some of the target words, imported it again, applied it and published the application and changed the application language to the new, imported language (file).
If it's not working for you, can you describe the steps you took in detail?

  • Displaying buttons and other items in french instead of english

    Hi,
I am new to APEX., which I find incredibly easy to use. Anyway, I am french (nobody is perfect!) and I would like the texts inside the buttons (like 'Create', 'Reset') and in the other part of the aplication ('Edit') to appear in french. BUT with APEX development sutdio remaining in english. I have read the documentation but I did not understood if there is a procedure to generate the buttons and other items in french instead of english.
    Could you help me ?
    Thank you very much !
    Christian

    Hello,
    >> Where can I find it ?
I’m afraid you are looking at the wrong place. You are going to the shared components whilst you should go to the page where the button id defined. In the “Page Rendering” column there’s a section called “Buttons”. Choose the button you want to edit, and there you’ll find it - http://i31.tinypic.com/25sv6t3.png . As you can see from the gif, the button name and the button label don’t have to be the same.

  • Upgrade apex 2.2 to apex 3.0.1

    Hello,
I want to upgrade my apex 2.2 to apex 3.0.1 and I do :
    c:\sqlplus system/password@XE as sysdba
    I obtain this :
    SQL>
(my "apex 3.0.1" is in c:\apex\)
    so I do :
    SQL> @/apex/apex SYSAUX SYSAUX TEMP /i/
after this, I obtain this message (in french, you noticed that I am not very good in English Langage) :
    "Entrer la valeur 5 : "
Can you tell me what is this value ?
    I thank you.
    Pierrick

    Hello Felipe,
    thank you for your answer.
It seems to be good to begin the procedure but I saw one more thing to do in the documentation. It would be necessary to give a path for a directory which will contains images of Oracle XE. Maybe that's the value it asks to me.

  • Apex 2.2 - Correct Broken html code displaying ( " /html" )  due to data

Yes. We are running version 2.2. Apex 4.0 isn't an option right now.
French characters are causing the broken code "</html" to display at the bottom of the page
when the data is pulled from the database.
I have tested the page with non-french characters and the broken code does not appear.
The region is a sql query updateable report region. The query is a straight forward query, just
pulling whatever is sitting in the columns.
The primary language for this page and all pages in the application is English.
How does one get around this display error?
    Thank You

This is frequently caused by failing to meet APEX installation and configuration requirements. Ensure the DAD character set is AL32UTF8 and the correct version of the PL/SQL Web Toolkit is used.
The DAD may be at the location indicated in the documentation link below, or it may be somewhere else depending on the local configuration. The PL/SQL Web Toolkit can be checked using the query <tt>select owa_util.get_version from dual</tt> in the SQL Workshop.

  • APEX 4.Loosing translatable text when exporting/importing to new workspace

    Hi everyone,
I am developing a bilingual application (base English translated to french) and I noticed something weird when exporting/importing to another workspace.
First, my application is flagged as requiring synchronization after an import. Yes, I did check that it was not flagged right before the export. I did choose Export Translations.
Secondly, when I look at the translated application in the new workspace, my Region Names are not translated anymore (in english instead of french). When I cmpare the 2 Translation Repositories (using the Manually Edit Translation Repository) I lost all Region Names entries (Column Description = Region name).
Thirdly, when again comparing the 2 Translation Repositories, I have the same number of Strings and Distinct Strings by if I group by Column Descriptions the sub-totals differ and I don't even have the same distinct Column Descriptions.
My test was done with my development workspace and a test workspace (where I deleted all application prior to my test) in the same instance.
    Anybody had these problems?
    Thanks all
I am using 4.1.1.00.23 on the Oracle Database 11g Express Edition.

    Hi there,
Well....I guess "they lied" would be me, huh?
Unfortunately, this is a bug. This issue with region titles was first reported in Bug in 4.1.1: Region Title translations is lost I recorded it as Bug 13801807 - REGION TITLE TRANSLATIONS LOST WHEN IMPORTING AS A NEW APPLICATION ID. It's fixed in APEX 4.2.
    I hope this helps.

  • Apex 4.1 bug? Application language derived from Session changes time zone

I have created an application in Apex 4.1 and in the "Initialization PL/SQL Code" for the session (what used to be called the VPD section) I have the following code:
    begin
      execute immediate 'alter session set time_zone = ''+01:00''';
end; This works as expected, UNLESS the "Application Language Derived From" (under "Edit Globalization Attributes") is set to "Session", in which case the session's time zone is also affected (and not just the language, as one would expect).
This can be seen in the following simple example, which runs the above code to set the time zone, and has the language derived from "Session":
    http://apex.oracle.com/pls/apex/f?p=38595
    This shows
sessiontimezone = -05:00Even though the session's time_zone has been explicitly set to +01:00 with the ALTER SESSION statement.
Experimentation with the URL shows that if a p_lang parameter is passed, with a valid language identifier, for example:
    http://apex.oracle.com/pls/apex/f?p=38595&p_lang=de
then the time zone is affected (showing -05:00 instead of +01:00).
However, if an INVALID time zone identifier is passed:
    http://apex.oracle.com/pls/apex/f?p=38595&p_lang=xx
then the session time zone is CORRECT according to the ALTER SESSION command:
sessiontimezone = +01:00If I change the "Application Language Derived From" to something else than "Session" (for example, "Browser" or "Item Preference"), then the timezone is also correct (ie follows the ALTER SESSION command).
Running the page in debug mode confirms that the time zone is being set after my VPD/initialization code has been run:
    0.01585     0.00146     ...Application session: 1671806996734123, user=nobody     4

    0.02884     0.00230     NLS: Language=en     4
Conclusion: It seems to me that when the LANGUAGE is set to be derived from the "Session", this also, as a side effect, alters the session TIME ZONE, which must be a bug... ?

Edited by: mobra on Sep 24, 2011 7:14 PM

    Hi Arie,
When you are setting the language to derived from session you actually declare that you are working in a dynamic environment – per session – and not in a static one. Using the Initialization PL/SQL Code is very static as the same code is executed for every database session.I was using a fixed time zone value in the ALTER SESSION to demonstrate the bug/problem... in real life, the actual time zone is derived dynamically based on a user profile stored in the database.
APEX 4.0 introduced the Automatic Time Zone under the Globalization tab. By default it’s set to No but setting it to Yes will allow you to use your local time zone (as derived from your browser) with whatever language derived setting you choose, including per session with the *&p_lang* parameter. The key point is that LANGUAGE has nothing to do with TIME ZONEs, and vice versa. People speak English (and Spanish, and French, and Chinese for that matter) all over the world. You cannot determine a user's time zone based on the chosen language.
You're telling me to enable "Automatic Time Zone" to work around an unwanted side effect from changing the language setting. Sorry, but that just sounds like bad advice to me.
If you want to use session derived language, however the local time zone settings are not good for you, you can still change them with a Before Header and After Submit PL/SQL processes and an appropriate alter session statement, on a per page base. The APEX engine will not ignore a page based session setting. Why should I have to do this for every page when the "VPD" Section (now called "Initialization PL/SQL Code") is made for this purpose?
If you look at the help text in the Apex builder for that section, it actually says that:
The code entered here need not pertain to VPD/FGAC and may not be related to security at all.
Any code that needs to be executed at the earliest point in a page request can be placed here.
For example, the following code sets the database session time zone for every page request:
    BEGIN
       EXECUTE IMMEDIATE 'alter session set time_zone = ''Australia/Sydney'' ';
END;So I hope the demonstrated behavior is not intentional, but a bug, and I'm hoping Joel sees it the same way.
