Apex_item.radiogroup in updateable Report

How can i build up an updateable Report with a radiogroup created by apex_item.radiogroup?
i know the syntax like
APEX_ITEM.RADIOGROUP (1,deptno,'20',dname)
but i wanna have 5 different options in 1 radiogroup.
How can i manage this?
thx so far
P.S.: I know that you can define a column to be a radiogroup but in my case it must defined with the apex_item package.

Hi,
Have a look at: Re: User Radiogroup in Tabular Form - there are several methods that you could use - the details for each are shown in the app pages themselves rather than the thread

  • Setting fields defined in SQL updateable report with a process

    I have SQL statement defined in a SQL updateable report with hidden fields. I want to be able to update these hidden fields with values from other displayed fields on the page. How do I reference these hidden items - I have referencign them as :my_field but get and error telling me thats its underfined.

    But, the reason I am doing this is because I want to format the page with 6 columns in one <TD> cell with some extra text and formatting etc - I don't want 1 column per <TD>. Thats why I am using the APEX_ITEM.TEXT so I can format the 1 <TD> the way I want it (with 6 columns it there).
    In the short term can you tell me how to reference hidden fields please.
    I will create the case in apex.oracle.com in the next few days to make it clearer.
    P.S. see my previous post: SQL QUERY updateable report with APEX_ITEM fields to update hidden columns

  • Update Field On Change For A SQL Query (updateable report)

    Hi,
    I'd like to request help from anyone with ideas on how to solve this.
    We are using APEX 4.2, 10GR2, RedHat5.
    I have a report that comes from SQL Query (updateable report).
    I'm using the apex_item.text and apex_item.hidden on fields.
    I'm using a button to submit and after submit process to add some logic that I need.
    There could be 1 - 10 records in the report.
    There is only 1 field that is needed to enter a value, but the value of this field determines the value of another field.
    I think that I can do this with a submit button and an after submit process where I loop through all the records. I think I have this handled.
    This is the question
    When the value of that field is changed then the value of another field in the same row changes immediately.
    Is this possible?
    All the examples I've seen so far are for a single record and that doesn't work for us.
    I guess this is a MRU process but I haven't seen an example where a dynamic action is possible on a Multi Row Update.
    Could anyone direct me to where I can see an example or help me get directions?
    I appreciate all your help an comments and I thank you in advance.

    Yes why not...what you looking for is a ajax call
    See {message:id=10390979}
    Please note:-you can also do this as a dynamic action as shown below
    Event: Change
    Selection type: jQuery Selector
    jQuery Selector: input[name="f01"]
    True action with Execute JavaScript Code and put all code inside the test funtion, you may need to amend the code to use this.triggeringElemnt in place of this

  • Apex_item.radiogroup using an LOV in a manual tabular form

    I'm on APEX 4.0.0.00.46 and I'm sure there must be an obvious solution that I'm missing here, but I'm having a problem setting up an apex_item.radiogroup on a manual tabular form. This is the basic query that I'm using:
    select apex_item.radiogroup(37,my_field) as my_field
    from my_table
    When I use the above query as my Region Source, it compiles fine. However, it seems as though the query won't pull in the value that currently exists in the table unless I set the Column Attribute called 'Display As' for the field to 'Standard Report Column'. When I do this, it seems to remove the capability to incorporate a LOV into the radio group. I'm attempting to incorporate a query like this into the radiogroup:
    select 'YES' d, 'Y' r
    from dual
    UNION ALL
    select 'NO' d, 'N' r
    from dual
    So, to recap, I can set up a Radio Group (query based LOV), but if I do, the query of the table will not pull in the current value from the table. If I change the 'Display As' Column Attribute to 'Standard Report Column', I can no longer incorporate the LOV. Please help if you have any ideas.

    I am not 100% sure what you are trying to do but I think I am close. Try using
    SELECT apex_item.radio_group_from_query
              (37,
               my_field,
               'SELECT ''YES'' d, ''Y'' r FROM dual
                UNION ALL
                SELECT  ''NO'' d, ''N'' r FROM dual'
              ) AS my_field

  • Change "SQL Query" report to "SQL Query (updateable report)" report?

    I manually made a report, because the tabular report made by the wizard gave me no possibility to use a popup LOV. Now I have this report, but I cant apply an MRU process on it, becuase it's not an "SQL Query (updateable report)". How can I change my report to a "SQL Query (updateable report)"? I only can choose between SQL Query and SQL QUERY (PL/SQL function body returning SQL query).

    Hi Tom
    You can just write the processes yourself. Although trickier this can give you a lot more control over row processing.
    APEX_APPLICATION.G_F01, F02 etc are global variables in the apex_application package that are defined as arrays.
    These are regularly used in tabular forms to reference values within them. The normal ordering would be column 1 = G_F01, column 2 = G_F02 etc etc. Although you can change these and even assign more than one column to an array.
    The example
    FOR i IN 1..APEX_APPLICATION.G_F01.COUNT LOOP
    INSERT INTO my_table VALUES(:P1_EMPID , APEX_APPLICATION.G_F01(i));
    END LOOP;Is saying - for the number of values in the array G_F01 (probably column 1) loop insert into the table the value of the associated value in the array. So first time through i=1 - so the first value in the array (probably row 1 in column 1), next time i=2 so the second value in the array is used (probably row 2 in column 1) and so on...
    When you've created a manual tabular form (what I would call what you've done) you have created the items using the APEX_ITEM package in your query. The first parameter for this is p_idx which defines which global array to hold it in.

  • Apex_Item.radiogroup in a Tabular Form (Update Only, no Insert)

    Hi,
    I'd like to use a radiogroup on a tabular Form. The Form will modify only existing records.
    I've seen some more elaborate examples for Tab Forms that allow Insert.
    But I am trying to use the APEX_Item.radiogroup function for an example like:
    "Select Chairperson_Name, Approve_Status FROM Chairperson_Approval"
    The Approve_Status column can be 'A' for Accept, or 'R' for Reject, and is the only updateable column in the Tabular Form.
    So I should be able to create a Tabular Form (for Update Only) on the table Chairperson_Approval with the wizard.
    Then I want to be able to go into the Source and change the SELECT statement to something like:
    "Select Chairperson_Name, APEX_Item.radiogroup(1,approve_status,.....) FROM Chairperson_Approval"
    and then let the automatic APEX processing (generated by the wizard) do the rest. Right? Can
    anybody give me an exact example for APEX_Item.radiogroup. My documentation is not clear enough on this function.
    Thank you very much, in advance.
    Carol

    Hi Andy,
    Why do you get & set TEST attribute of the radiobutton?
    What is a TEST attribute?
    getAttribute("TEST") == 'Y')
    setAttribute("TEST","Y");So I was thinking I should incorporate this toggle me function with my radiobutton and have the following inside the toggleMe function.
    $x(''P24_SECONDARY_TASK'').value=' || ad.task_id || '"')
    {code}
    Am I right?
    Cheers

  • Storing the value of apex_item.radiogroup!

    Hi All,
    I am using an APEX_ITEM.RADIOGROUP api to display the rating from 1 to 5.
    In order to store the value of radio button selected, I am using a textbox item.
    e.g.
    P2_ques_1 = rating value from 1-5( coming from radio group)
    P2_ques_2 = rating value from 1-5
    Now I want to save the value of P2_ques_1... into the database through a loop.
    for i in 1..4 loop
    l_rating := :P2_QUES_||i;
    INSERT INTO org_feedback(feedback_id,question_id,rating,org_contact_id)
    VALUES(ORGFEEDBACKSQ.NEXTVAL,i,l_rating,:P2_CONTACT_ID);
    end loop;
    The above loop is storing the value of "i" instead of values of : P2_QUES_1,: P2_QUES_2....
    Is there any way or suggestion I can achieve this?
    Thanks,
    - Parveen Sehrawat

    I can't catch you.
    Let me explain what i want to do...
    I have radio button in forms as well as in reports.
    In FORMS i created a RADIO GROUP using STATIC LOV
    Like,
    STATIC:GOOD;3,NOTBAD;2,BAD;1
    So at runtime i can easily get this radio group values.
    In REPORTS i created RADIO GROUP using SELECT QUERY
    Like,
    with t as(
    select 'problem_sol' as others, 1 as num from cand_performance
    union
    select 'communication' as others, 2 as num from cand_performance
    union
    select 'attitude' as others, 3 as num from cand_performance)
    select others,
    apex_item.radiogroup(num) as good,
    apex_item.radiogroup(num) as notbad,
    apex_item.radiogroup(num) as bad
    from t
    Now i want to define values for those radio button like what i define in STATIC LOV radio buttons and i want to know how to get the selected value when user submit the page... Again i'm telling i have radio button in REPORTS.

  • Apex_item.radiogroup

    Hi,
    I need help regarding the apex_item.radiogroup.
    I am fetching the data from table in report region. There is one status column which has either 'A' active or 'I' inactive. corresponding to one unique record we can have multiple subrecord and
    only one is active. In the report region i am trying to show the active and inactive radiobutton per row. and if select any row as active in the report other rows radiobutton should be inactive so once i hit the update button i don't have to think which all other went to inactive.
    my query looks like
    select apex_item.hidden(10, primary_key) || record,
    apex_item.radiogroup(3, h.status,'A', 'Active')||apex_item.radiogroup(3, h.status, 'I', 'Inactive'),
    case when rec_flag = 'N' then 'NO' else 'YES' end "flag"
    from table
    If there is 4 rows selected based on this query only one row radio button is highlighted.
    I am new to apex and need your help.

    Hi,
    For the select list issue - the fourth parameter of the APEX_ITEM.SELECT_LIST function allows for attributes, so you can do:
    apex_item.select_list(3, h.status, 'Active;A,Inactive;I','onchange="javascript:myfunction(this);"') "Status"Then you create a function called myfunction(ss) that is triggered by the value of the select list changing - onclick is not used here. As we are passing "this" into the function, we can loop through all select lists, except for the current one and change their values where needed:
    function myfunction(ss)
    if (ss.value == 'A')
      var sLists = document.getElementsByName('f03');
      var k;
      if (sLists)
       for (k = 0; k &lt; sLists.length; k++)
        if (sLists[k] != ss)
         sLists[k].value = 'I';
    }So, as long as we change the current list to A, then we change all the others to I.
    For the radio buttons, if you need to use two buttons per row, you should have a radiogroup that is for each row separately. Your use of "pk_table" for the Inactive button should also be used for the Active button. When the user clicks on either Active or Inactive, you would then have to loop through all the radiogroups and set the appropriate value.
    To get to all the buttons, you have to do something like:
    var x = document.getElementsByTagName("INPUT");
    var k;
    if (x)
    for (k = 0; k &lt; x.length; k++)
      if (k.type == 'RADIO')
       do something herre
    }Andy

  • Store all values from updateable report on clientside for later use

    apex 4.2 , 11xe
    hello,
    it is possible to store all values from an updateable report to something like an cache BEFORE sent it to DB ?
    Background:
    i have an modified updateable report ,look the jpg
    http://www10.pic-upload.de/25.06.13/3zq5wr23awwg.jpg
    updateable report have ever 29 rows. as example i make time entrys for an employee. very often the next employee have the same timeentrys. now iam thinking about to make the entrys for the first employee, then click a button to store the values from ALL cells into somting like a javascript cache or jquery.data() . when i pull another employee from lov i have a fresh empty report( with 29 rows) and now  i want to call the data back from cache to the cells (with another button). the cache shouldnt  be destroyed when refresh the page,cause there is a page refresh when pull another employee from lov.
    is it possible to store all cell values(empty or not) from report all in one?
    what is the best and simplest way ?
    good would be an example for the code or method i should use.
    or is somthing inside apex i could use for that. i looked in apex.api  but didnt found something.
    my report based on a view with iof trigger and apex collection.

    thx for answer jarola and sorry for my bad english.
    apex collection will not work.
    let me explain why not and i think something like javascript/jquery is better for that.
    there is a table MAZEIT and i have this updateable report. when i select an employee from lov, a collection will be created.  the collection look in MAZEIT ,perhaps there are real timeentrys, in this case the collection will be modified and give me 29 rows,some are filled. or there are no real entrys and the collection give me 29 empty rows.

    and in end there are 3 other procedures, all for table MAZEIT, the collection and and the report.
    in princip its a good idea,to create another collection, but difficult to bind it to the report TOO,cause my "cell-fill- functionality" is to complicated.
    my idea is another: to look with javascript/jquery whatever on clientside the cell-values. and only the editable cells. not the hidden cells.there would be ca. 180 editable cells. i want store the values from this cells all in one in a cache (clientside! ).
    then select next employee (collection will be created with view  ect.) and give me this 29 rows. in this moment i have cells  with ID f02_0001 as example and can use the cache values with that. the ID's ever the same,cause i have ever 29 rows.

  • Apex conditional field in "SQL Query (updateable report)" region

    I have a multi-row region that displays values and allows entries in a number of fields. I should like the fields to be conditional in that they do not permit entry, but still display, if certain conditions apply (e.g. older rows greyed out). Can this be done?
    I have searched Google and this forum but all the threads I have found relate to field formatting or display/non-display.
    Many thanks in advance Dave Barber

    Welcome to the forum: please read the FAQ and forum sticky threads (if you haven't done so already), and update your profile with a real handle instead of "user13515136".
    When you have a problem you'll get a faster, more effective response by including as much relevant information as possible upfront. This should include:
    <li>Full APEX version
    <li>Full DB/version/edition/host OS
    <li>Web server architecture (EPG, OHS or APEX listener/host OS)
    <li>Browser(s) and version(s) used
    <li>Theme
    <li>Template(s)
    <li>Region/item type(s) (making particular distinction as to whether a "report" is a standard report, an interactive report, or in fact an "updateable report" (i.e. a tabular form)
    With APEX we're also fortunate to have a great resource in apex.oracle.com where we can reproduce and share problems. Reproducing things there is the best way to troubleshoot most issues, especially those relating to layout and visual formatting. If you expect a detailed answer then it's appropriate for you to take on a significant part of the effort by getting as far as possible with an example of the problem on apex.oracle.com before asking for assistance with specific issues, which we can then see at first hand.

  • SQL Query (updateable report) Region - Conditionally Hide and Set Values

    SQL Query (updateable report) Region - Conditionally Hide and Set Values
    Outline of requirement :-
    Master / Detail page with Detail updated on same page using SQL Query (updateable report).
    The detail region has the following source
    SELECT item_id,
           contract_id,
           CASE WHEN hardware_id IS NOT NULL THEN
                   'HA'
                WHEN backup_dev_id IS NOT NULL THEN
                   'BD'
                WHEN hardware_os_id IS NOT NULL THEN
                   'HS'
           END item_type,
           hardware_id,
           backup_dev_id,
           hardware_os_id
    FROM   "#OWNER#".support_items
    WHERE  contract_id = :P26_CONTRACT_IDThe table support_items implements arced relationships and has the following columns
    CREATE TABLE SUPPORT_ITEMS
      ITEM_ID         NUMBER                        NOT NULL,
      CONTRACT_ID     NUMBER                        NOT NULL,
      HARDWARE_ID     NUMBER,
      BACKUP_DEV_ID   NUMBER,
      HARDWARE_OS_ID  NUMBER
    )A check type constaint on support_items ensures that only one of the fk's is present.
          (    hardware_id    IS NOT NULL
           AND backup_dev_id  IS NULL
           AND hardware_os_id IS NULL
    OR    (    hardware_id    IS NULL
           AND backup_dev_id  IS NOT NULL
           AND hardware_os_id IS NULL
    OR    (    hardware_id    IS NULL
           AND backup_dev_id  IS NULL
           AND hardware_os_id IS NOT NULL
          )    Hardware_Id is a FK to Hardware_Assets
    Backup_dev_id is a FK to Backup_Devices
    Hardware_os_id is a FK to Hardware_op_systems
    The Tabular Form Element based on item_type column of SQL query is Displayed As Select List (based on LOV) referencing a named list of values which have the following properties
    Display Value     Return Value
    Hardware Asset    HA
    Backup Device     BD
    Computer System   HSThe Tabular Form Elements for the report attributes for hardware_id, backup_dev_id and hardware_os_id are all Displayed As Select List (Based on LOV).
    What I want to do is only display the Select List for the FK depending on the value of the Select List on Item Type, e.g.
    Item_Type is 'HA' then display Select List for hardware_id, do not display and set to NULL the Select Lists for backup_dev_id and hardware_os_id.
    Item_Type is 'BB' then display Select List for backup_dev_id, do not display and set to NULL the Select Lists for hardware_id and hardware_os_id.
    Item_Type is 'HS' then display Select List for hardware_os_id, do not display and set to NULL the Select Lists backup_dev_id and hardware_id.
    There are properties on elements to conditionally display it but how do we reference the values of the SQL query Updateable region? they are not given a page item name?
    Also on the Tabular For Elements there is an Edit tick against a report item - however when you go to the Column Attributes there is not a property with which you can control the Edit setting.
    What's the best way of implementing this requirement in APEX 3.1?
    Thanks.

  • Need customized query on updateable report (tabular form)

    I have a pl/sql function that returns a SELECT statement based on very flexible query specifications allowed in a form. (Form has a field for each table column, allows operations like <,>,between, etc, that can be entered directly into the field; all fields need not have some sort of query constraint specified. Essentially the same sort of query flexibility you get in Forms... ) The select always returns the same number of columns. Query results are returned on a different page (either report or tabular form) than that used to enter the query specs.
    The function works beautifully on a page type of Report.
    However, when I take a Tabular Form and switch its query source to PL/SQL function body returns SQL select, the page type becomes Report. The query works on this modified page (returns correct rows), and the columns are still editable (can be typed into) but the changes can't be submitted because the page is no longer a tabular form -- Error is: No updateable report found. Multi row updated and delete operations can only be performed on tabular forms of type 'Updateable Report'.
    How can I have flexible query specs paired w/ an updateable report? Does this require writing my own multi-row DML processes? Or is there a simpler way?
    Thanks,
    Carol

  • Submit Button in APEX 3.2.1 SQL Query (updateable report)

    Hi all,
    I am fairly new to APEX.  I have an updateable report and have created a button for every row as follows:
    <input type="button" value="Task Complete" onclick="doSubmit('#REF_STEP_ID#');" />
    I have a PL/SQL anonymous block process that calls an oracle procedure On Submit - After Computations and Validations:
    BEGIN
    tta_pkg.p_task_complete(:REQUEST);
    END;
    The button works and calls the Oracle procedure.  My problem is that the process will try to run anytime the page gets submitted due to any other process in the page.  The error I am getting when another process submits the page is as follows.
    ORA-06502:  PL/SQL: numeric or value error:  character to number conversion error.   ( If I disable the process, the page works and all other processes are submitted successfully).
    Does anyone have any ideas?  They will be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you,
    Sylvia

    Sylvia,
    Have you tried adding a condition to the process? I'm not sure what options were available in APEX 3.x (which is really old; the current version is 4.2.4), but in the current versions of APEX there's a specific "When button pressed" field that allows you to specify that the process only fires when a specific button is clicked.
    Regards,
    -David

  • Updateable Report : re-display collection & Update Button question

    This a sequel to a previous Updateable Report question I had.
    Varad pointed me to this doc which has been incredibly helpful .
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/database/application_express/
    howtos/tabular_form.html#RESTRICTIONS
    I was\am having the following issue :
    Let's zoom to the part where we create a region to display the tabular form for the previously saved collection , and drill down to the part where we create an UPDATE EMP button for that displayed collection :
    I was not able to display the collection again when I failed the validation a 2nd time. ie, clicking on the UPDATE EMP button after it displays both the errors-post validation and after displaying the collection ( of course) would return me to the previous report pre-collection creation. When I turned debug on I found out that it was not even creating the collection and was hence deleting it before displaying the subsequent page.
    So what I did differently from what the documention instructs is as follows :
    I removed the page reference on the 'branch to page' of the UPDATE EMP button. In my case, the default 'Branch to ' Page after Processing is the same page I am using for this part of the application.
    So when I remove the reference to the page number. for that button, the page is then able to re-create the collection and hence re-display the collection so I can re-fix the 2nd error ( ... and 3rd) and finally update the report .
    Just wondering if anyone else has had the same experience ?
    Thanks !

    The columns and rows have a set format for the Id, so if you know one Id you know the row and the ids of all the other columns.
    As an example, this will show the value of column 6 when you click on any column with the function call in the Element Attributes:
    Script:
    <script type="text/javascript">
    function showCol6(col){
      var col6 = document.getElementById("f06_" + col.id.substr(4,4));
      alert(col6.value);
    </script>Element Attributes:
    onclick=showCol6(this);You could also use a Named Column template, specific to this region, to include the column values directly in the function call, but I think it's best to stick with the ApEx defaults if possible.

  • Recalculating fields in an updateable report when a page item changes

    Hi,
    On the one page I have a header section where the user enters the total number of items (eg. 50).
    I then have an updateable report on the same page where one of the columns is '% of the total items' and the last column of the table is calculated using javascript ('% of the total items' * 'total number of items').
    eg. the page could look like this :
    Total Number of Items : 200
    Item Type % of Total Items Calculated Field
    Toys 25% 50
    Clothes 75% 150
    When the value of the 'Total Number of Items' field is changed, I need to recalculate all the values for the last column.
    I've tried to do this using javascript based on what I could find on the forum, but when I change the value in the header section, the last column of all the table rows are not being calculated.
    Any assistance you could provide would be greatly appreciated.
    I have an onchange trigger on the total number of items field
    onChange="ReCalcProds()";
    and the javascript function looks as follows :
    function ReCalcProds()
    var answer;
    var amount1;
    var amount2;
    var tds = document.getElementsByTagName('td');
    for (var k=0; k<tds.length; k++) {
    if (tds[k].headers=="ACTIVITY_CODE") {
    var inputObjs= tds[k].getElementsByTagName('input');
    if(inputObjs.length>0) {
    for (var j=0;document.inputObjs.length; j++) {
    amount1 = parseFloat(document.getElementById('P9_TOTAL_PRODUCTIONS').value);
    amount2 = parseFloat(document.getElementById('f08_'+j).value);
    if (isNaN(amount1)){amount1 = 0};
    if (isNaN(amount2)){amount2 = 0};
    answer = amount1 * (amount2/100);
    document.getElementById('f11_'+j).value = answer;
    Many Thanks.
