Hi,
From Apex Installation Guide :
Oracle Application Express version 4.0 requires an Oracle database (Enterprise Edition, Standard Edition or Standard Edition >One) that is release 10.2.0.3 or higher. Application Express 4.0 can also be used with Oracle Database 10g Express.[Apex Installation Guide|http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E17556_01/doc/install.40/e15513/pre_require.htm#i1009513]
I didn't check which DB are supported on your OEL version but if it is supported by an apex DB required so it should work.

Arnaud

How do I know if they installed the 64-bit OEL and not the 32-bit?
    Thanks

    Hi yxes,

By the way i wanna share one information wiht you too. One time you can need to check solaris, its 64 bit or 32 bit. I was searched a lot to find this usefull information:)
    run isainfo -v
If the system is running in 32 bit mode, you will see the following output:
    32-bit sparc applications
On a 64 bit Solaris system, you’ll see:
    64-bit sparcv9 applications
    32-bit sparc applications
    For see information about system:
    run uname -X

  • Oracle virtual box and OEL 64 bit installation

    Hi,
    Wonder if anyone can help.
I have a centos5 x86-64bit installation and have downloaded virtualbox and have started to install OEL 64bit.
All appear well until I get a message saying that
    yelp-2.16.0-13.el5.x86_64 cannot be opened.
I can either retry (the result is the same message) or I can reboot which seems to defeat the object of the exercise.
does anyone have any experience on how to resolve this issue?
    regards
    Alan

    Hi Alan,
to be honest, I always took the "DVD iso" to install... not the CD images. I never tried the CD images...
Furthermore yelp-2.0.16-13 is OEL 5.0... which is pretty old, I would suggest you at least taking the CDs of OEL 5.4....
I could imagine that the VM support was not that good in OEL 5.0...

  • Upgrade the Oracle Apps from 11.5.10.2 from windows 32 bit to R12 OEL 64bit

    Hi Frnz,
We are planning to upgrade the Oracle application from 11.5.10.2 from windows 32 bit to Oracle apps R12 OEL 64 bit.
As I go through the Metalink documents and came to know the below Path to proceed with the R12 upgrade for our scenario (2 phase process).
Phase1 - Upgrade in the source windows OS Machine :
    1)Upgrade the Database to latest version of 11G R2 (11.2.0.1/11.2.0.2) [if 9.2.0.8 to 11gR2, refer metalink note 881505.1 & 1265268.1]
2)Upgrade Application from 11.5.10.2 to R12.1.1 in windows Machine
3)Upgrade Application from R12.1.1 to R12.1.3 in windows Machine
Phase2 - Migration Process from windows to Linux:
1)Migrate R12.1.3 Application from *32bit windows to OEL 64bit*. (I could not found the exact document for this Cross Platform Migration)
    Note:
As per the metalink note, we identified that, Oracle 11.5.10.2 Application will not support for the 64bit Linux.

  • Problem with pdf printing in Apex 3.2

    Hi All,
I have apex 3.2 in Oracle 11.1, and the OS is OEL4. I ran the post installation script for granting connect privileges for APEX_030200 also.I have installed BI Publisher in another machine, and configured the URL in apex.
But the Pdf printing part is still failing.
when i open the pdf ,the Error is "Adobe Reader could not open 'Applications[1].pdf' because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged(for exmple, it was sent as an email attachment and wasn't correctly decoded)."
I tried to open the file using text edtor, the text inside is "ORA-20001: The printing engine could not be reached because either the URL specified is incorrect or a proxy URL needs to be specified"
My apex machine is 64 bit and BI Publisher machine is 32 bit.
I ran the following query to verify that the grants were given:
    SELECT * FROM DBA_NETWORK_ACL_PRIVILEGES;
The result of this query is the following:
ACL     ACLID     PRINCIPAL     PRIVILEGE     IS_GRANT     INVERT     START_DATE     END_DATE
/sys/acls/power_users.xml     (RAW)     FLOWS_030000     connect     true     false     (null)     (null)

Verify that the BI server is accessible from the 11g database by executing the SQL below in the 11g database
    select utl_http.request('http://<bi_server_host>:<bi_server_port>/xmlpserver/convert') from dual;
The response returned should be something similar to
<HTML><HEAD><TITLE>500 Internal Server Error</TITLE></HEAD><BODY><H1>500 Internal Server Error</H1><PRE>Servlet error: An exception occurred. • Does OEL support on Oracle10gR2?

    Hi All,
Can any one suggest me which version of Oracle Enterprise Linux (OEL) support for ORacle 10gR2? I go through the oracle document library for Linux 64 bit but don't find any details about OEL? OEL 5 update 2 is support on Oracle 11g.
Any one having any idea about its support or not/ or find any link about which version of Oracle support on OEL then please inform me here.

Yes It will support for both 32 bit and 64 bit
64 bit for OEL , here you should download OEL 64 bit from http://edelivery.oracle.com/

  • Kvm switch

    sir
we had a belkin kvm switch of the series number with F1DP108A , which worked fine on windows os not OEL , i installed kde desktop in OEL 32 bit the moment it worked fine.
But in 64 bit OEL , even if installed kde desktop it failed with an error message stating that "video mode not supported".So as per the suggestion from
OEL service request, we replaced the belkin kvm switch with ATEN KH1508 model, but the problem remains even if installed KDE also. Regarding the belkin kvm switch, we applied
a number of solution from oracle service but no result. Please help us in this problem.

Check the physical connections. Make sure there are no bend pins on any of the connectors - on all devices attached to the KVM.
If this is for sure not the problem, perhaps you've set your video card to a refresh rate and/or a resolution your monitor can't handle. I don't know the specs for your Belkin KVM or monitor, but setting a refresh rate to 60 Hz and a resolution to 1024x768 should always work.
Check /etc/X11/xorg.conf. Look for Section "Screen" and rearrange the order of the defualt depth Modes "1280x1024" "1152x864" "1024x768" "800x600" "640x480"

  • Oracle 11g: update with group by

    DB. 11.2.0.2.0
    Hello
This feels as though it should be simple. The below code tries to update the Activities table with the sum of staff hours (worked out from two other tables).
    The select works fine:
    select a.activities_id, sum((t.st_proportion*s.staff_time)*7*(t.st_enddate-t.st_startdate)/100)
    from aa_wl_activities3 a
    join aa_wl_stafftime2 t
    on a.activities_id=t.st_activity_id
    join aa_wl_staff s
    on t.st_staff_id=s.staff_id
group by a.activities_idand produces data like this:
    7    700
    6    700
    44  700
    41  700
    update aa_wl_activities3 a
    set a.activities_stafftime = sum((t.st_proportion*s.staff_time)*7*(t.st_enddate-t.st_startdate)/100)
    join aa_wl_stafftime2 t
    on a.activities_id=t.st_activity_id
    join aa_wl_staff s
    and t.st_staff_id=s.staff_id
group by a.activities_idI get this error:
ORA-00934: group function is not allowed hereFrom various bits of googling, it is possible to update using an aggregate function - I want to check it's possible in Oracle SQL and if anyone can spot anything wrong with my code

    emma-apex wrote:

    update aa_wl_activities3 a
    set a.activities_stafftime =
      select sum(
               (t.st_proportion * s.staff_time)
             * 7
             * (t.st_enddate - t.st_startdate)
             / 100
      from aa_wl_stafftime2 t
           join aa_wl_staff s on s.staff_id = t.st_staff_id
      where t.st_activity_id = a.activities_id
    ;(Or MERGE as suggested)

  • SQL Explain differs with same query

    DB 1: Oracle EE 11gR1 64-bit
    DB 2: Oracle XE 11gR2 64-bit
    Both on OEL 64-bit
DB 1 does not do a SORT related to the subquery whereas DB 2 does do a SORT. Otherwise EXPLAN PLAN identical. But performance on DB 2 noticeably faster.
    Here is the SQL:
    select col4
    from tab1 join tab2 on tab1.col1 = tab2.col1
    where tab2.col3 = (select max(col3) from tab3);
    Explain plan (brief)
    DB 2:
    FILTER-
    HASH JOIN
    SORT
    DB 1:
    FILTER
    HASH JOIN
Any hints (no pun) on what might cause this to occur? Is the optimizer different from XE 11gR4 and EE 11gR1 (wouldn't think so)? Or is it a parameter setting, memory or temp space (default settings apply for both DBs).
    Thanks

Yes, the optimizer is different in 11gR2 than 11gR1. Also the optimizer in Enterprise Edition will have more choices available than in XE (partitioning, for example; parallel processing, since XE uses only 1 CPU), but in this case I doubt the difference is that deep.
Besides optimizer differences, you need to consider these questions first when you see different plans:
Is the volume of data the same in both databases?
Are statistics up to date in both databases?
Are statistics gathered the same way in each database?
For anything more specific we need to see the 4-digit oracle version for each database, exact explain plans (copy-paste), and possibly some CREATE TABLE and INSERT statements if someone wants to reproduce what you are seeing in their database.
