Apex upgrade from 3.0.1.00.08 to 3.1.2.00.02

I would like to do an upgrade on my apex (3.0.1.00.08) to 3.1.2.00.02 .
Is there any direct upgrade available ???
Will this upgrade affect the current applications running on 3.0.1.00.08

If you make a versionchange from 3.0 to 3.1 you have to install it like it would on a new installation.
it creates a new schema FLOWS_301000 (before it was FLOWS_300000).
You can download it from apex.oracle.com -> download.
And yes it affects all of your applications, but its also possible to switch to an old APEX version with a single command.

Apex: upgrade from 2.2 to 2.2.1

Hi,
I've installed and configured App Express 2.2 but now want to use the 2.2.1 patch. What is the upgrade process?
Are there any changes in the database components? If so, is there an upgrade script? Or can I simply rerun apexins.sql? Do I need to drop the APEX_PUBLIC_USER, FLOWS_FILES and FLOWS_020200 schemas first?
If there are no changes in the database components, is it sufficient to simply unzip the apex_2.2.1.zip file in the appropriate location?

Hi,
2.2.1 although has extra bug fixes its a install of its own. So you would have to run apexins.sql from the downloaded zip file. Once run and you have corrected any install error's (if you have any) then you would patched to 2.2.1
Follow the install guide (from the zip file) and you would be good to go.

Upgraded from APEX 3.1 to APEX 4.0.2, Interactive reports broken

I just recently upgraded from APEX 3.1 to APEX 4.0.2.
Am using IE 8.
Now whenever I click on a column header in an interactive reports I get a javascript error:
Message: Expected ')'
Line: 1
Char: 40984
Code: 0
URI: http://patchx:8080/i/javascript/apex_4_0.js
Am at my wits end on this one.
I can't see anybody else who has hit this error.
The demo application works okay.
I set up an interactive report with the same properties as the demo app, but i still get the error.
Any clues?

AHA, I just figured out what is making this happen.
I have a custom authorization scheme which calls a PLSQL function.
I had set the authorization scheme to "Once Per Page View".
This was causing the error to happen, although I still don't know why.
Unfortunately it is a problem because I need to authorize on each page.
This is because my plsql function must allow the login page authorization so we can capture the username to check against permissions. So I autmatically return true on the login page. But that means anybody can get in, because that is the once per session authorization as specified.

How to upgraded from apex 3.2.0 to 3.2.1?

I am using oracle 10g xe with apex 3.2.0, I would like to upgrade to 3.2.1, but I got no support and thus no access to metalink.
I did this for upgrading,
I droped user apex_030200 and then upgraded with the 3.2.1 install file, seems everythings going nice, except there's error about flow_files schema already exsited.
and I found I didn't need to upgrade the image file as well.
Is that way Ok for upgrading from 3.2.0 to 3.2.1? by far seems nothings wrong.

Sorry, I made a mistake when I chose the ORACLE_HOME directory, I did it again to loading the images, without any more errors.
Seems I did it, nothing wrong.
But I found the bug-fix I expected is still not being fixed, that is,when I upload excel files with the utility/data_load tool, I still encounter error messages sometimes, I have to repeat and made it right.

Upgrading from APEX v3 to 4 issues

Hi,
I am trying to upgrade from APEX version 3 to v4, and we have the following issues:
* The buttons are not working (doesn't do anything when pressed)
* The show edit links are automatically displayed, and the edit link arrows are outlined in blue.
* The values are not being saves on the session.
I exported the application and imported into the oracle development forum and everything work fine.
We get the following error when using IE;

Hi alberto,
i suppose that your application file prefix is incorrect for your application. Can you please verify that the directory specified in "Image Prefix" at Application Builder > Edit Application Properties is correct. You can test that with
http://yourdomain:yourport/<value specified in image prefix>/apex_version.txt
for example
http://apex.oracle.com/i/apex_version.txt
The application file prefix should be set to the same value you have entered during the installation of APEX 4.0?

Error while upgrading from APEX 3.0 to 3.1

I was upgrading from 3.0 to 3.1 and it was going great but then it bombed out on Page 4736.

Is this a known bug?

No more room in the system tablespace, all database users (execpt sys and system) should be set to use a tablespace that isn't system or sysaux.
XE is supposed to set default to USERS, if there's been quite a few table drops the cleaning up recyclebin could help, tt can be managed in the web GUI under utilities. Connect as system to see all deleted objects in the database, and also check that all the database users are set to default to the USERS tablespace not system ...

Lost Developer Toolbar after upgrade from 4.1 to 4.2

After upgrading from 4.1 to 4.2.1.00.08, we have lost the Developer Toolbar.
Have others run into this with the upgrade or fresh installation of 4.2.1?
If so, what suggestions are there for fixing, short of reinstallation mentioned in this other thread:

Following the guidance there to look at the instance ID and other preference settings, I compared our three instances. The two that are not having the problem are both at 4.2.0.00.27.
Here are the preferences that exist on our other instances but are null on the problem instance:

You inspired me to take a closer look, and look beyond the upgrade.
After the upgrade, my application passed a superficial checkout. Later, I exported my application and in the export file, the Instance ID was not NULL. I had not noticed any problems with how APEX was working.
The problems of the missing Developer Toolbar, Instance ID = NULL, and a new one, did not occur until I removed my application and tested a clean installation of the workspace and application. This is the sequence of events. The immediate triggering cause is clearly one of the following:
1. Deinstall application (ID 820) from APEX 4.2.1.00.08 instance, running 11g (11.1.0.7.0).
2. Remove workspace (PVA_AH9_R12)
3. (drop the parsing schema, xxpva, and related tablespace)
4. (create tablespace and schema user, xxpva)
5. Import workspace (PVA_AH9_R12) from an APEX 4.2.0.00.27 instance.
6. Import application (ID 820) including supporting objects from an APEX 4.2.0.00.27 instance, running 11g (11.2.0.1.0).
The next day I noticed the Developer Toolbar missing problem, and found that Instance ID is NULL.
Also, after Exporting an application in Database format, I cannot download the file from the Export Repository. When I click the filename link, I get 'Access Denied' instead of the normal download dialog.
Does this suggest anything else I should look into?
Do you think I should post this as a new problem/question with more detail about the sequence of events?

4.2.2 upgrade from 4.1 and images location issue

I've just upgraded from 4.1 to 4.2.2, and am having an issue with the referenced location of the images directory (/i/) resources. I am running apex listener on weblogic server, and have copied the new images into the i.war that I use. I have an unusual reverse proxy situation where my base URL includes a path, i.e., https://www.my.website.com/mysite/ is the URL that the proxy returns to the user, so my APEX addresses look like https://www.my.website.com/mysite/apex/f?101:1:::::, and my image directory references get put together like https://www.my.website.com/mysite/i/image.jpg.
However, with the upgrade, one of the things that popped up was all of the datepickers in my application were changed to classic datepickers, which worked and displayed fine. When I change them to the new datepicker, the small calendar image doesn't show next to the field (red x), and when I look at the properties of the image, it's URL is https://www.mywebsite.com/i/asfdcldr.gif (no "/mysite/" path offset). ALL of the other images directory references seem fine, but not this. Has 4.2.2 changed how it composed the #HOST# when it's generating these new controls (same result when I make a datepicker from scratch)? Why do all of my other images directory references work? The only other problem that I'm seeing is that my charts no longer work, either. I used to have to hardcode my URL into the XML of the charts for them to work, but I don't see the URL referenced in the code anymore. Not sure if that's related, but that has always been an issue with my reverse proxy situation (I don't control the proxy server).

With APEX 4.2, we've changed how charts are initialized to be JavaScript only, and as part of the changes, we no longer expose the region source for charts. See *4.8 Updated AnyChart Flash Charts* in the APEX 4.2 Release Notes, here: http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E37097_01/doc/doc.42/e35121/toc.htm#CACEJBCD. So it's no longer feasible to hardcode a reference to your URL in the region source for a chart. If you have a reverse proxy, the CGI environment variables REQUEST_PROTOCOL, HTTP_HOST, SERVER_PORT, and SCRIPT_NAME, have to be correctly set to the public facing web server and not to the internal forwarding connection. If you execute the following query in SQL Workshop on your APEX instance, do you see the settings for the public facing web server?

which database version are you using?
Anyway I would suggest that you get in contact with your DBA and he with Oracle Support.
Based on the bug description this error has something to do with your database and DBMS_STATS (used to calculate statistics for your data) and not really with APEX itself.
Oracle Support should be able to help you to find out which database patch you have to install.

Blank Login Page after Upgrade from 4.0.2 to 4.1

Greetings,
I just upgraded one of my Apex environments from 4.0.2 to 4.1. After the upgrade, I tried to access the login url and I get a blank page. Nothing on it, just a white page. However, if I do a View Source, all the html code is there. I wonder if it somehow lost where the Image, CSS and Javascript files are located. I am using the Apex Listener running under Weblogic 10.3.3. The Apex Listener was just a standard install with the image location being '/i/'. I am not sure how to debug this. Any help would be appreciated. Here is a snippit of code from the View Source.

I had the same behavior using apache mod/plsql the solution is:
a) shutdown apache (opmnctl stop)
b) unzip the APEX install file in a directory on the machine where apache is installed
c) correct in the dads.conf the virtual dir /i/ to the "images" directory of the unzipped file
d) restart apache (opmnctl start)

Upgrade from 2.2.1 to 3.1.2: Breaks JS and CSS?

Upgraded from 2.2.1 to 3.1.2. The upgrade went fine but most JS and CSS seems to be broken.
Examples
1. Javascript functions not defined: redirect, html_ShowElement
2. Template button images are broken. See http://i41.tinypic.com/294pgso.jpg
My page templates are mostly unchanged, i.e. they have stuff like

Version 3.1.2 seems to have changed stuff around. I tried creating symbolic links from htmldb_html_elements.js -> apex_3_1.js and htmldb_get.js -> apex_get_3_1.js and this got me past the Undefined errors but now I get 'apex is not defined'.
Is there a quick way to upgrade all the applications to the new way of doing things? I am not looking forward to modifying all my page templates!

Sorry, my fault, my database got refreshed from one containing Apex v 2.2.1 without my knowledge and the OHS images folder was still pointing to the that from the 3.1.2 distribution. This was causing the problem. When I upgraded Apex to v3.1.2 again, everything is back to normal.
The #HEAD# substitution string in my page templates automatically pulls in the appropriate JS/CSS libraries

To upgrade from 3.2 to Apex 4, I logged-in as sys and ran

After installation when I tried accessing apex in browser, I am getting following error message

apex 4.0 needs 10.2.0.3 and i have 10.2.0.1
I'm going to deinstall, upgrade 10g and reinstall...

How to call APEX form from OAF

Hi
WE upgraded from 11i to R12. In 11i we have Apex Forms hanging off Customer forms. The customer forms in R12 became self service/OAF.
We now need to figure out how to call the old APEX form from new selfservice Customer form
Can some one help me with this?
