Hai all,
I have a table in my Oracle DB 9i.. k.. All I want to know can I make a form through Apex and give access to the user to the form such that he can enters data directly into the table with some modifications... the table is already created and has got morethan 50k records in it..
which note I can refer for this ?

Thanks Pal,
The requirement is to create a form and give it to the user such that the user can enter values directly in the table through the form ..All I want to make some columns as default..
i..e.. d_date column shoud have the default sysdate. and I want to give some validations before entering values through the form..user is entering some wrong values..such that the error has to display..is there anyway we can do this data validation check through the form created through APEX..nowhere I can find this details in the user guide..

  • Full Export/Import Errors with Queue tables and ApEx

I'm trying to take a full export of an existing database in order to build an identical copy in another database instance, but the import is failing each time and causing problems with queue tables and Apex tables.
I have used both the export utility and Data Pump (both with partial and full exports) and the same problems are occurring.
After import, queue tables in my schema are unstable. They cannot be dropped using the queue admin packages as they throw ORA-24002: QUEUE_TABLE <table> does not exist exceptions. Trying to drop the tables causes the ORA-24005: must use DBMS_AQADM.DROP_QUEUE_TABLE to drop queue tables error
As a result, the schema cannot be dropped at all unless manual data dictionary clean up steps (as per metalink) are done.
The Apex import fails when creating foreign keys to WWV_FLOW_FILE_OBJECTS$PART. It creates the table ok, but for some reason the characters after the $ are missing so the referencing tables try to refer to WWV_FLOW_FILE_OBJECTS$ only.
I am exporting from Enterprise Edition 10.2.0.1 and importing into Standard edition 10.2.0.1, but we are not using any of the features not available in standard, and I doubt this would cause the issues I'm getting.
Can anyone offer any advice on how I can resolve these problems so a full import will work reliably?

    Thanks for the lead!
After digging around MetaLink some more, it sounds like I'm running into Bug 5875568 (MetaLink Note:5875568.8) which is in fact related to the multibyte character set. The bug is fixed in the server patch set 10.2.0.4 or release 11.1.0.6.

  • How to build a form with multiple tables in oracle application express

    Hi everyone,
I have got problem in building a form with multiple tables.I have a main table with (20) columns and this main table is related to the other tables with the primary key-foreign key relation ship.My requirement is i have to build a form which has fields from many tables and all the fields are related to the main table using (ID) column. In that form if i enter ID field i have to get information from differnt tables.
Please help me to solve this (building a form with mutiple tables)
    Thank you
    sans

    Sans,
I am no Apex expert, but with a situation as "complex" as yours, have you thought about creating a VIEW that joins these 7/8 tables, placing an INSTEAD OF trigger on that view to do all the business logic in the database, and base your application on the view?
This is the "thick-database" approach that has been gaining momentum of late. The idea is to put your business logic in the database wherever possible, and let the application (Form, Apex, J2EE, whatever) concentrate on UI issues,

  • Problem with temporary table refresh

    Hi,
I running a process before validation on a page to populate a temporary table when I click a button.
On the following page I've built a shuttle on the temporary table. Not the most elegant solution, but the shuttle LOV box wouldn't process the oracle text commands in the SQL.
I'm not getting any error, but I have an unusual problem
It takes two passes for the data to be replaced. i.e I enter 'ABCD' in the filter and it returns data with 'ABCD'
If I return to the page and change the filter to 'EFGH' I still get 'ABCD'. I return to the page and click the button again and I get 'EFGH' results
I've checked the data in the temporay table and that is updating in line with the problem.
I've looked at the debug and that seems fine (i.e I can see the changed filter value), I've tried moving the truncate to a different process, that didn't help.
I've run it in SQL developer and it seems to work fine.
I've included the code below, but I can't see a problem with it.
    Can anybody help?
    begin
    EXECUTE IMMEDIATE('TRUNCATE TABLE temp_cat');
    commit;
    if length(:P26_ADD_FILTER) > 0 then
    insert into temp_cat (core_cat_id, core_cat_code, core_cat_desc)

    else
    insert into temp_cat (core_cat_id, core_cat_code, core_cat_desc)
    select core_cat_id,core_cat_code,core_cat_desc from core_cat where
    core_cat_id not in (select pipe_project_cat.core_cat_id from pipe_project_cat where txtpamref = :p26_pamref);
    end if;
    end;

    Hi,
Apex does not work well with temporary tables as you cannot guarantee which session from the pool will be used to serve each page.
In your case, it looks like the second page is using temporary data from the wrong session.
Have you considered using Apex Collections instead?

  • Integrating Apex with Cocoon (does it make pdf from taking data from DB)

    Friends,
I integrated Apex with appache with cocoon. Its working fine with reports but i want it to work with form on a table or view. The steps below which i have followed for integrating Apex with Cocoon
Steps of pdf Printing of Report with cocoon:
    1) Download and unzip the following needed files in D:\Apex_fop directory.
    2) Open your command prompt .
    Change the directory to D:\Apex_fop\cocoon-2.1.11.
Set the Java_Home environment variable as: set JAVA_HOME= C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.5.0_21
    then type build war
    3) After getting the prompt back as D:>Apex_fop>cocoon-2.1.11>
Copy coocon.war file from the folder D:\Apex_fop\cocoon-2.1.11\build\cocoon.
Paste this file into webapps subdirectory in main tomcat directory having path as D:\APEX_FOP\apache-tomcat-6.0.26\webapps.....place it in the top
    level of webapps directory.
    4) Now just startup tomcat as D:>APEX_FOP>apache-tomcat-6.0.26>bin>startup.bat
The cocoon.war file will automatically uncompressed as directory.
    5) To change the port of apache tomcat , edit apache-tomcat-6.0.26\conf\server.xml & change port attribute of Connector element from 8080 to 8181.
Just check whether Tomcat is running or not as http://localhost:8181/
& to check cocoon type http://localhost:8181/cocoon/
    6) Now copy fop_post directory & paste it undes new cocoon directory in webapps having path as D:\APEX_FOP\apache-tomcat-6.0.26\webapps
    \cocoon.
    7) Now you need to do some apex settings as follows:
In APEX, just log in as ADMIN into apex/apex_admin and went to Instance Settings and did the following:
    - Print Serverr: Standard Support
    - Print Server Protocol: HTTP
    - Print Server Host Address:localhost
    - Print Server Port: 8181
    - Print Server Script: /cocoon/fop_post
In your APEX application, in the Regions section, Click on the Print link next to your report and do the following settings:
    - Enable Report Printing: Yes
    - Link Label: Print
    - Response Header: Report Settings
    - View File As: Attachment
    - Output Format: PDF
    - Report Layout: Default Report Layout
    - Print URL: f?p=&APP_ID.:1:&SESSION.:FLOW_XMLP_OUTPUT_R1063230002781575
    8) Open up the Report Page and click Print , You will get the pdf report.
But my requirement is bit different. I have made form on a table or view , so when i am submitting my form the record is getting updated in my database and at the same time a new button is appearing at same page as i have branched it in same page. The new button name is print. I want when i click this print button it should print the record which submitted recently. How can i enable the print functionality on form. Its simple in report but how can it be done on form?
Looking forward for this to know wthr it is achievable or not and if yes what all are the ways?
Thanks in advance for all who is going to post here and to them also who is giving their time in reading my thread
    Regards
    Adi

You could redirect to a report page instead of to the form page. Then simply print the report.
This makes sense. You would have one page for entering the data and another page for displaying and printing it.

  • How to use oracle APEX with an distant database located on a distant server

    Hi there,
I'm a brand new user with Oracle Technologies. I've installed ORACLE 10g XE and updated APEX to 4.0 version on my laptop.
My Manager has setup a distant server with a Linux Red Hat. He has installed on this server EBS R12 with a 11i database.
As a training, I'd like to play with the tables located on the server with the APEX 4.0 installed on my laptop.
As the server is on the same local network and following the description above, is it possible to plug my local APEX to the server database ?
If not, does it mean I have to install APEX on the 11i server database and then connect to the server to play with those tables ?
Thanks a lot for your time and support ACEs members.
    Regards,
    Ulrich

    Hi Ulrich,
yes, you can access other database from your APEX database. The mechanism used to do this is called a "database link". You need to create such a database link in your local database, then you can access the remote database like this:
    SELECT *
      FROM databaselink@EMP
;If you want to use such remote objects from within APEX you need to create local views to wrap this (search the forum for apex and database links, you'll find interesting threads).

I am testing pipelined table functions to be able to re-use the <font face="courier">base_query</font> function. Like:
    - a database version
    - how did you test
    - what data do you have, how is it distributed, indexed
    and so on.
If you want to find out what's going on then use a TRACE with wait events.

  • Issue with Multiple Tables in Report

    Post Author: dwessell
    CA Forum: General
    Hi,
    I'm using Crystal Reports 2k8.
I'm doing a report with three tables, CQ_HEADER, SO_HEADER and SALESPERSON. Both the CQ_HEADER and the SO_HEADER tables link to the SALESPERSON table via a SPN_AUTO_KEY field.
However, I always receive duplicates in my result set, due to the joins made, and I don't receive results that are valid in one table, and empty in another (Such that it only counts a CQ, if there is a SO associated with it. Here's the query that's produced by CR.
      SELECT "CQ_HEADER"."CQ_NUMBER", "CQ_HEADER"."ENTRY_DATE", "CQ_HEADER"."TOTAL_PRICE", "SALESPERSON"."SALESPERSON_NAME", "SO_HEADER"."ENTRY_DATE", "SO_HEADER"."TOTAL_PRICE"
FROM   "CQ_HEADER" "CQ_HEADER" INNER JOIN ("SO_HEADER" "SO_HEADER" INNER JOIN "SALESPERSON" "SALESPERSON" ON "SO_HEADER"."SPN_AUTO_KEY"="SALESPERSON"."SPN_AUTO_KEY") ON "CQ_HEADER"."SPN_AUTO_KEY"="SALESPERSON"."SPN_AUTO_KEY"
    WHERE  ("CQ_HEADER"."ENTRY_DATE">={ts '2007-12-01 00:00:00'} AND "CQ_HEADER"."ENTRY_DATE"<{ts '2007-12-18 00:00:00'}) AND ("SO_HEADER"."ENTRY_DATE">={ts '2007-12-01 00:00:00'} AND "SO_HEADER"."ENTRY_DATE"<{ts '2007-12-18 00:00:00'})
    ORDER BY "SALESPERSON"."SALESPERSON_NAME"
There is no link between the SO_HEADER and the CQ_HEADER.  Can anyone make a suggestion as to how I could go about structuring this such that it doesn't return duplicate values?
    Thanks
    David

    Hey,
I understand you used Retainsameconnection property true for all the OLEDB connections you used in the package if not make sure its for all the connection including file connection as well.
Additionally, you can try to set Delayvalidation property to true for all the dataflows and control flows in the connection and try running the package for 10MB file.
I hope this will fix the intermittent failure issue you are facing with SSIS.

  • Populating the cache with VPD tables fails

Using the Add Tables wizard I am trying to add tables to an Oracle Database cache. The tables have had RLS policies applied using the DBMS_RLS package. The Add Tables wizard fails with an ORA-28112 error (failed to execute policy function).
Are there any known problems with cacheing tables of a virtual private database?
Of course we want to cache an entire table, not just a portion as defined by that table's security policy. We have a procedure call that can cause the security policy to return a null predicate (effectively turning off security for all tables). We have set up a logon trigger to run this procedure for the user that populates the cache (we have done this successfully for other users), but we still get the error.
    Any help?
    Cache system:
    SPARC/Solaris 8
    9iAS 1.0.2.1
    Oracle EE 8.1.7.0

    Thanks,
    Steve

    Steve,
In my opinion you should look first into the trace files. They are generally located under
USER_DUMP_DEST directory. I believe that this error normally generates a trace file. So in the trace file you can see that it was trying to do and what happened. Also this may be happening due to some permission problems as well e.g. logged user versus policy user etc.

  • Problem with SUBMIT report [ WITH SELECTION-TABLE ] or [ IN range ]

    Hello Everybody,
I am trying to call transaction F.80 for mass reversal of FI documents by using SUBMIT sentence and its parameters like this:

            WITH br_gjahr-low = p_an1
            WITH stogrd = '05'

Can some one help me with this? is there a way to execute the transaction BY the SUBMIT with the multiple selection criteria for the Document Number working well?

  • Ability to query on all columns from a view with multiple tables

I have view with 4 tables. view has about 50 columns.
hypothetically, I want to build a form to give the user an ability to query on any of those 50 columns. user can search on one or more fields.
what is the best way to write the query to retrieve the results without performance impact.
please let me know if the question is not clear.

If you want to permit them to query any of 10 fields with no restrictions, you could create 10 separate single-column indexes. The optimizer would have to try to pick the best of these indexes if you specified multiple search criteria. But since you have a view which presumably means that you've got multiple other indexes involved for the underlying join conditions, you'd probably want/need to combine the column lists of the indexes you're adding for searches with the indexes you've created for joins, which requires looking at the text of the view and figuring out the best way to optimize the 10 single-column searches. Of course, it is possible that the optimizer could chose to do something like a b-tree to bitmap conversion on multiple indexes which could allow it to use multiple independent indexes for your queries, but that's generally not ideal performance-wise.
All this is a fancy way of saying that there probably isn't a cut and dried answer to your question. You need to figure out the queries you're trying to optimize (say, the 10 single-condition queries) and you need to figure out what set of indexes on the various underlying tables provides the best performance weighing those benefits against the cost on other side of maintenance during DML. Which is going to depend on the text of the view, the underlying tables, the existing indexes, etc.

  • Is there a way to have a "text box" stay with a table or chart?

I have multiple tables on one sheet. I understand that the table is named over in the left side of the screen. For what i need to do,  I am looking at multiple tables on one sheet. Its easier to know which is which by having a text box above with its desctription. If I need to move that table I would like for the text box to move with the table it is for, rather than having to move them both seperately. Is there a way to like "merge" them together? I've selected the two together and looked for an option in the inspector & in the menu bar, yet still cant figure it out.
    =/ help!!

For a table, you can use the Table Inspector to Show Name (checkbox near the top of the Inspector pane).
As seen above, the Table name can be formatted using a choice of font, size and colour (not changed in the example). To format, click on the displayed name to select its frame/box. Then use the controls in the format bar to chose font, set size and color, and set the background colour if desired.
I had finally just figured that out before I read this, after quite some time of messing around with it. Thanks for your quick response. Wish i realized these discussions were available when I first started using numbers! How very  helpful!!
And to fireflyer, thanks for that advice I didnt know you can do that and I will be able to use that in many situations! =)

  • How can I bind a operation with a table

    Hi !
I'm trying to bind a operation with a table, so what type of operation return ? ViewObject or a Vector? And how can i set params to these operation if my operation has some param ( getSubscriber(int iSubId, int iSubType) )
Thank a lot for your help

    Hi,
it depends on the release you are asking this question for. In JDeveloper 10.1.3 you can expose a method (e.g. on a session facade) that returns a Collection. The input parameters can be dragged and dropped as input fields to the page.
The same can be done in JDeveloper 10.1.2, but here you have to prgrammatically apply the input arguments.

  • Create a Navigational Hierarchy for filtering with the Table API

    Hello,
I've built a WAD report acourding to the how to document: "Create a Navigational Hierarchy for filtering with the Table API".
It works great but i dont know How to make the hirarchey to show the key and the text.
    Please Advice.
    David

    Hi Kenneth,
please have a look in the source of the executed Web Application. What is inside of the <div> with the id filter?
You should also find a td tag with id hier_xyz with xyz the filter inside of the <div>-Tag with id filter.
Also check whether you have a javascript error.
Have a look on the Javascript function set_style. Perhaps you can paste it here, than I can have a look.

  • Help with UPDATE table and database RELATIONSHIPS

HI there, I have been trying to create an update table for
weeks now and keep getting error messages.
The database has a table named:
"books" in the table cells are "idbook" and "book".
"suppliers" in the table cells are "idsupplier" and
    "supplierName".
"category" in the table cells are "idcategory" and
    categoryName"
They all have a relationships with this table:
"results" in the cells are "idbook", "idsupplier" and
    "idcategory".
This "results" table brings all of the above tables together.
When I try to do an update, i am doing one to the results
    table. Is this correct?
The updates have problems because when drawing the text to
the update table to view it comes in text form.
When trying to update, it wont becuase all of the cells in
the results table are numeric. This is because of the
    relationships.
Can anyone suggest where i may be going wrong.
    Ask anything you need to.
