APEX4.0 - How to get Application Builder
Hello
I am new to Apex and I have installed Apex4.0 on XE on windows successfully. I could successfully log in as a 'admin' , with 'internal' workspace and see the four admin menus such as 'Manage Requests','Manage Instance','Manage Workspaces' & 'Manage Activity'.
Is there any special settings I need to do see 'Application Builder','SQLWorkshop' etc?
Basically how do I get in to 'Application builder' all other developer stuff.
Any help is really appreciated.
I tried 'apex.oracle.com', for application builder, but I would like to have in my local machine.
/with regards
Murali
Great to hear that you can now work with APEX.
If your question is answered, please mark this thread and any helpful or correct answer post accordingly.
I just found the following source using google:
http://guruparan18.wordpress.com/2010/06/20/oracle-application-express-apex-interview-questions/
A quick run over the questions gave me the impression that they cover a broad range of things you should know about working with APEX.

How to get Application Error descriptions
Hi, all:
Our interface has ECC system involved.
The Message Monitoring in local integration engine shows that there are many messages with application errors.
I would like to export all messages with application error:
include message ID and error text.
Right now, I can export the data from Message monitoring window, but I can not get application error from exported spreadsheet. anyone has idea how to do it ?
Thanks in advance !
Liang JiHi, venkata:
Thanks for you reply.
Our scenario is
ThirdPartySystem ---> SOAP ---> XI ---> ECC (ABAP Proxy)
Technically, the scenario is running perfect.
After go-alive, there are many application errors because of the data problem, e.g.:
Cannot create order. Service order number already exist
We know these problem are caused by conversion, now I would like to track each message, so I exported to spreadsheet from Message monitoring.
But the exported spreadsheet does not include Application Error text, this is the reason I post the question here, do you have idea about it ?
Thanks

How to get application module instance from java bundle?
Hi!
I would like to build an application that would get all translations from a database table.
So I created application module for translations that contains a view object which is selecting translations for specific language from a database table. I exposed a method in application module as client interface which returns HashMap<String, String> for all translations for specific language. When I test my view and client interface method call they work fine.
Then I created java bundle classes to get translations for specific language. Then I tried to override public Object[][] getContents() method.
I tried to get my translations application module like this:
SharedTranslationsAppModuleImpl am = new SharedTranslationsAppModuleImpl();
Map<String, String> translationsMap = am.getTranslations(this.getLocaleCode); // Client interface method call
In getTranslations(String LocaleCode) I try to get that view (which would select translations from database) but it returns NULL and I get NPE error message.
So what is the right way to get application module from java bundle file? Now everytime application wants to get translations, application stops and displays NPE message.
Regards, Marko
I use JDeveloper 11.1.2.1.0Marko,
you can't just instantiate an application module. An application module has to be set up, db connections and memory pools have to be initialized and ....
Can you describe why and when you try to read the resource bundle from the db and where the resource bundle is used?
This blog may be what you are looking for http://technology.amis.nl/2012/08/10/implement-resource-bundles-for-adf-applications-in-a-database-table/

How to get application username
Hi All,
I would like to get the application username, but I don't know how to get it. Can anyone tell me, thanks.Okay,
and how does your application user connect to the application? Is there any kind of user authentication you perform before letting the user in?
If not then all you can do is to try and get the VM system information if running with local deployment
package mypackage5;
import java.util.*;
public class Class1
public Class1()
String user = System.getProperty("user.name");
System.out.println("The user is:"+ user);
public static void main(String[] args)
Class1 class1 = new Class1();

How to get application names currently running on Windows?
Hi Experts,
Please help me how do I get application names (tasks) currently running (as shown in Windows Task Manager-Application Tab) in Windows.
Thanks,
DeepakHi....
probably it's a unusual solution but you could try it....
Create a *.bat file call it test.bat .. Create it on your local machine or on your server folder..
PARAMETERS: DOSCMD(30) DEFAULT 'c:\test.bat' LOWER CASE.
call function 'GUI_EXEC'
exporting
command = DOSCMD.
Inside your test.bat file put this code..(it's a dos command to create a txt file containing the output of tasklist.exe command
tasklist > c:\test.txt
In your test.txt file you will have a list of tasks running on windows...
Hope to help...

How to get applications out of trash?
How do I get Applications out of trash?
Thanks for your information. I did as you suggested, but when I try to move the Application folder from my desk top to Macintosh HD entry in the side bar of the new finder window, a warning sign comes up saying "Applications" can't be modified or deleted because it's required by MAC OS X.
My son and daughter were on my lap top(daughter 25 and son 14), somehow they say all my photo's are in trash, over 4,000, so I am trying to retrieve them. I would welcome any suggestions. Sorry for the delay, but the family has been full of nasty bugs and then to cap it all my son broke his wrist, so we have been in hospital. What a week! -

How to change Application Builder colours?
Hi all
I would like to change the colours of the application builder on my live server - just so I don't get confused when I have sessions to both live & development. It could be as simple as changing the logo bar to a different background colour, so long as it makes it obvious which server I'm working on!
I guess it is a matter of changing the theme but I'm not sure where to look?
Thanks in advance
SteveHi,
As I know there is no out of box solution to change builder theme.
Probably safest way is change css files in HTTP server /i/css
But I would not bother to do it
Have you think set instance messages?
http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E17556_01/doc/admin.40/e15521/adm_mg_service_set.htm#sthref361
You can write HTML there also and add e.g. some images.
Or if you use Firefox, you can write some client side greasemonkey script to alter look of builder.

Hello,
What I am trying to do is to use LV application builder generating an installation disk without compiling the support files. I mean:
the support fils like the help files are located on a different directory , for example, installation disk is D drive, help file directory is: D:\Help\..., not compiled in the installation Data set.
So, when the installation disk is running, it only copy this directory file into the destiny directory. Of course, we can write a different bat file to do this. However, beside this method, is there any way, like using LV application builder to do this without writing a batch file. Any suggestion will be appreciated.For LabVIEW 7.1, this can be done in a few short steps. First, add your help file as a support file in the Application Builder. Then go to the Installer tab, choose to create an installer and click on the Files button at the bottom. From this dialog (shown below), you can specify the destination for each component in your install package. If you have added your help file as a support file, it will show up in the Files in Installation list. Click on your help file to highlight it. You can now choose where to install the file to by specifying an installation destination and a subdirectory. The default subdirectory is called data, but if you want to change that, just type in a new subdirectory name as I have done below:
Hope this helps!

How to update application builder from 5.1 to 5.1.1?
I updated Labview from 5.1 to 5.1.1 for window 2000, using a patch file. Do you have some similar files to update the application builder 5.1 to 5.1.1?
First, you will have to contact NI for this upgrade/update. It doesn't appear to be on the website, although the LabVIEW 5.1.1 update is.
Second, you should consider upgrading to LabVIEW 6.1(.x?), the latest version. It should only be $395, and the update to the application builder is free if you already have it.
Again, contact NI for this upgrade if you are interested. -

JosephYou can try this code to get all properties:
Properties props = System.getProperties();
Enumeration enum = props.propertyNames();
while(enum.hasMoreElements()){
String name = (String)enum.nextElement();
System.out.println("Prop Name: " + name + "\tValue: " + props.getProperty(name));
}And to find more about printing you can check this URL:
