APEXExport with flashback?

Can anyone think of a way to get APEXExport to take the export from a certain point in time in the past?
I can see no option to do it. Can anyone suggest some magic tricks to try?

Hi,
I don't know if it is any use to you, or if you already know about it, but in the latest version of Apex, 4.2.2, there is a packaged application, called Apex Application Archive, that allows you to export applications to a versioned table based repository. It may not be exactly what you are looking for but may give you some ideas.
RegardsI think we looked at this a little while ago. It's got some potential, do you know are there any plans to have it allow you to browse/search/blame on diffs? Anyway, there's lots of great solutions in the version control space, so my plan is to just build the bridge between APEX and developers VCS of choice. I wish the internal workspace had some hooks for developer GUI plugins. Something I never noticed before is a new workspace with ID 11 called COM.ORACLE.APEX.REPOSITORY with access to APEX_040200 schema... interesting.

  • FGAC with Flashback queries

    Hi! All,
I was just wondering whether we could use FGAC (Fine Grained Access control or VPDs) with Flashback queries.
Example: 1) User 1 performs changes to a table on rows that he owns in a DB
    2) User 2 performs changes to a different set of rows on the same table that he owns.
    3) User 1 does a flash back query to undo his changes.
    4) Will user 2's changes be affected by the flashback done by user 1?
    Thanks

    Thanks Justin for the reply.
sorry i didn't explain the this paet.
FGAC - comes into the picture, basically transaction would be identified by user's that would be set thru context. So user2 cannot see user1's data. we got FGAC working, but now the problem is rollbacking the data.
We are building a Testing frame work, where developers would run different testcases and then we want the data to be rollbacked to the original state.
Savepoints won't work as Commits will remove the savepoints, but we could consider that as an alternate if nothing else will work !
I tried flashbacking the tables to point in time but the problem is we would have to manually apply all the changes to all the tables....any help ??

for example, after db restore, you run "flash database to ....." will not work.It will not work cause after opening the database in resetlogs mode will make invalid alls database backup for that current incarnation, yours flashback logs are for previous incarnation now,and yours current incarnation cannot sense it valid ,though you can go with previous incarnation

  • Replace Materialized View with Flashback?

I'm building a Data Warehouse with the following:
    1. Tables populated throughout the day using CDC from the Application DB
    2. MVs on those tables to keep a daily snapshot of the tables for reporting.
    3. End users access the data through views with VPD applied, on the MVs
My systems team would like the solution to use as little storage as possible and currently I effectively have a copy of the app DB in the DW tables and would need another copy in the Daily MVs. (It is an insurance DB, so it is complex with lots of data, > 1.5 TB)
One way to reduce the storage could be to use flashback to keep a static daily version of the tables, so
At midnight I'd recreate the views like:
    CREATE OR REPLACE VIEW client
    AS SELECT *
       FROM   client_tab
AS OF TIMESTAMP (TO_TIMESTAMP(TRUNC(SYSDATE)));This would replace my refresh MV script. The end users would then refer to the client view in their reports
We would obviously need enough undo to store a days worth of data to ensure the flashback views remain consistent, but this is much less than the space required for a full copy. On a busy day there would be about 1% data change.
No DDL will occur on the tables during the day
Is there anything else I should be aware of? Can you let me know if (and why) this would not be a good idea?
This will run on Oracle 11.2.0.1
    Thanks,
    Ben

I guess I'm having some trouble visualizing the basic data model...
In most data warehouses that I've seen in the financial industry, reporting the position/ balance/ etc. at a given date involves scanning a single daily partition of each fact table involved and then hitting dimension tables that may or may not be partitioned (slowly changing dimensions would often have effective and expiration date columns to store the range of time a row was valid for, for example). Year-over-year reporting, then, just has to scan two fact table partitions-- the one for today and the one for a year ago. You may not store every intermediate change if there are potentially hundreds of transactions per account per day, but you'd generally put the end state for a given day in a single partition.
In one of your updates, it sounded like the 1.5 TB of data was just for the data that constituted end-of-day yesterday plus the 1% of changes made today which would imply that there was at least 15 GB of UNDO generated every day that would need to be applied to make flashback query work. That quantity of UNDO would make me pretty concerned from a performance perspective.
I would also tend to wager that VPD policies applied to views that are doing flashback query would be problematic. I haven't tried it and haven't really worked through all the testing scenarios in my mind, but I would be somewhat surprised if that didn't introduce some sort of hurdle that you'd have to work through/ work around.

  • Fix for CS5 & CS6 Hangs with Flashback Virus??

I recently found that my imac was infected with the Flashback Virus.
Ever since then, both CS5 and CS6 hang when trying to open them from Lightroom 4 or 3 using 'edit in.'
This is isolated to my imac since Lightroom 3 & 4 work as expected with CS5 & 6 with my macbook.
I have an appt with the Geniuses at the Apple Store tomorrow to delete the virus (Norton can identify it, but can't delete it.  So what are they good for?).
    My questions are:
    1.  Should I ask the experts at Apple to do anything in particular that can affect this problem, or
    2. Will a simple 'uninstall'/'reinstall' for LR and CS5 & 6 be sufficient?
Recommendations from the Adobe experts will be greatly appreciated.
    Chris Bernhardt

Oh well, the story continues (after I confirmed that CS5 works as expected after an 'uninstall/reinstall').
I deleted the CS6beta and then reinstalled it.
I then tried launching it from LR4 and CS6 hangs.
I then tried is from LR3 and CS6 works.
I then loaded LR4.1 and tried to launch it (all by itself) and LR4.1 hangs (never finishes loading the last photo viewed prior to quitting LR4).
    I then deleted LR4.1 and reloaded LR4.0.
LR4.0 launched and it successfully launched CS5.
My conclusion - on my system there are two problems - one where LR4.1hangs and then another where CS6 hangs when trying to launch from LR4.0.
So for now, I'll continue to use LR4.0 and CS5.
I hope this helps with the development of LR4.1 and CS6.
I'll post this separately so it comes to the attention of other members of the Adobe team

  • Reset to previous RESTORE POINT only possible with FLASHBACK ?

Ok, I can create a Restore Point (in v10g) by a command like:
    CREATE RESTORE POINT foobar;
Actually I expected a symmetric command which reverts the whole database back
    with a command like
    RESET to RESTORE POINT foobar;
However I did not found such a (or similar) command.
Instead the only way I found was by a FLASHBACK command:
    FLASHBACK DATABASE TO RESTORE POINT foobar;
Is this correct? Is there no other command for reverting back to a previous RESTORE POINT?
    Peter

    HI
Well there is no such command "RESET to RESTORE POINT foobar".....its... "Flashback database to restore point"
now question is that why we use flashback database to restore point? for example we want to run some application on our database but we are not sure that it might create some unwanted changes in our database ...so we mount our database and enable flashback then we create restore point let say "create restore point beforeupgrade"....and then we run our application now if we find some unwanted changes in our database we will flashback database to created restore point.

Flashback - Detect and remove the uprising Mac OS X Trojan...
    http://www.mac-and-i.net/2012/04/flashback-detect-and-remove-uprising.html
In order to avoid detection, the installer will first look for the presence of some antivirus tools and other utilities that might be present on a power user's system, which according to F-Secure include the following:
    /Library/Little Snitch
    /Developer/Applications/Xcode.app/Contents/MacOS/Xcode
    /Applications/VirusBarrier X6.app
    /Applications/iAntiVirus/iAntiVirus.app
    /Applications/avast!.app
    /Applications/ClamXav.app
    /Applications/HTTPScoop.app
    /Applications/Packet Peeper.app
If these tools are found, then the malware deletes itself in an attempt to prevent detection by those who have the means and capability to do so. Many malware programs use this behavior, as was seen in others such as the Tsunami malware bot.

  • How deal with FLASHBACK trojan?

    Hey folks!
I updated Adobe Flash player a few days ago (the update popped up - I did not search for it) and I think I may have installed the "Flashback" trojan 'cuz I did the update in a hurry. Is there any way to find out if the trojan has found it's way in to the computer or is a format and reinstallation of the OS necessary? Thanks!!!

So I guess if that file ain't there, the Trojan has not entered the system right?
Don't assume anything, run a scan using ClamXav and if your Apple Software Update works you can pretty much be rest assured you don't have it.
Also I would like to know if this comes as an update or just an installer.
It's a trojan installer on hostile web sites.
If you look at your Adobe Flash System Preference pane it's got it's own system to check with Adobe and verify the download. The confusion happens because there is a pop-up when one visits a web page and their Flash is outdated.
I always download my Flash here

    Hello,

When I make a simple update of table PARTIES with some trigger (one transaction with XID=000300310027ACAA), expected result can be found in FLASBACK_TRANSACTION_QUERY:

  • DML_FETCH_ROW with flashback?

I love the ability to query tables using flashback and select * from TABLE as of pre-bonehead, but using a Form on Report, I can't have that flashback apply to a form that uses automatic row processing.<p>
I even dug through the apex scripts a bit to see if I could modify the DML queries. Maybe it's there and I don't see it? Anyway, is there a way to apply flashbacks to DML_FETCH_ROW processes?<p>
    Thanks
    BoeroBoy

    Hi BoeroBoy,
in 3.1 I thought you could use the new "Runtime Where Clause" to add that to the query, but it doesn't work because APEX wraps brackets around the hole string.
But probably the most straight forward solution would be to define a view which contains select * from TABLE as of pre-boneheadIf you want to dynamically switch between flashback and a normal query against your table, put a &QUERY_FROM. into the "Table Name" property.
BUT BE AWARE. That this is some kind of SQL Injection and you should make sure that "Session State Protection" of QUERY_FROM is set to "May not be set by browser"!!!

  • Flashback query with FGAC using Toplink

    Hi! All,
I was just wondering whether we could use FGAC (Fine Grained Access control or VPDs) with Flashback queries.
    Thanks

The problem is the toString() on JGeometry. It does not print out a complete description the database can use inline. It produces:
    JGeometry (gtype=1, dim=2, rid=8307
To get JGeometry types to work in your queries the easiest solution is to use parameter binding so the literal representation is not used.

  • Excessive flashback log generates with select statement

    Hi everyone;
We have some extractions taken from a "flashback on" database.
Extractions are just select statements but when they are run, database produces excessive flashback logs.
What may be the reason database produce flashback logs with just select statements?
(It's certain that there are no insert-update-delete operations)

Do you do heavy update/delete before you select the statements ?

When I do select after the update I still see the redo generated because of delayed block cleanout but what I also see is the slight increase in flashback data size (check the first row of flashback_database_stat) which suits what you asking for. Select statement generates flashback log
Tested on 11.2.0.1 with single active session on the db

  • Can anyone help with this safari error, unexpectedly quits COMSOLMultiphysics tmp plugin

I have a continual error (15times in 2 days) with safari quitting and this Plugin error. Is anyone familiar with it and can offer any suggestions as to going about sorting it.
    Thanks

You have been infected with the Flashback Trojan.
    The ‘Flashback Trojan’:
A version of an existing Trojan Horse posing as a legitimate Flash Player installer (named “Flashback.A” by a security firm) is designed to disable updates to the default Mac OS X anti-malware protection system, potentially leaving the system open to the manual installation of other malware without any system warnings. The most recent versions bypass any user action and automatically installs itself after an affected website is visited.
    http://www.appleinsider.com/articles/11/10/19/fake_adobe_flash_malware_seeks_to_ disable_mac_os_x_anti_malware_protection.html
(Adobe is aware of malware posing as its Flash Player and warns users to ignore any updates that didn't originate on its own servers. "Do not download Flash Player from a site other than adobe.com," said David Lenoe, Adobe's product security program manager, in an entry on Adobe Product Security Incident Response Team's PSIRT blog. "This goes for any piece of software (Reader, Windows Media Player, QuickTime, etc). If you get a notice to update, it's not a bad idea to go directly to the site of the software vendor and download the update directly from the source. If the download is from an unfamiliar URL or an IP address, you should be suspicious.")
Flashback Trojan - Prevention of infection:
In order to prevent a potential infection with “Flashback” Trojans, Mac users should always obtain their copy of Adobe Flash Player directly from Adobe’s official website and to disable the "Open 'safe' files after downloading" option in Safari Preferences/General to avoid automatically running files downloaded from the Internet. Also, do not turn on Java in Safari Preferences/Security. Few websites use Java. Javascript is something entirely different and should be left active.
The Flashback Trojan does not affect PPC (non-Intel) Macs, nor has it been noted to affect users running Tiger OS 10.4.11 or Leopard OS 10.5.8.
Last, but by no means least, using Open DNS is the simplest way of preventing infection in the first place. Open DNS also protects against phishing attacks, re-directs, speeds up your internet connection, and works for all users of OS X from Tiger upwards:

Flashback Trojan - Detection and Removal
Users with Intel Macs running Snow Leopard OS 10.6 or Lion OS 10.7 should ensure that they have downloaded all the recent Java updates from Apple, which are designed to prevent infection and also remove any infection already present.
New Macs running Lion do not have either Flash Player nor Java installed. If you running Lion and have not already downloaded and installed Java, you should download the ‘Flashback malware removal tool’ from Apple:  http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5246  (356KB) which includes the same code as the Java update that plugged a security hole which allowed the malware to automatically install itself without admin authorization.
You can also use this to check whether you have been infected (for Intel Macs only) and remove it if required:
