Apimac Timer uses 100% of my CPU

One of my previously favorite apps (Appimac Timer) refuses to open.  My activity monitor says that it is using 99 to 100.5 percent of my CPU.  I have deleted and reinstalled numerous times.  I'm running 8 Gigabytes of RAM if that means anything.  Thanks.

Yes.  I installed Mountain Lion.  Since then, the situation has been gradually getting worse.  The interesting thing is that once I can get Apimac Timer opened, it works fine.  Consequently, I keep it open as often as possible.  When I restart my computer, I have Apimac set to open automatically and it usually does.  Lately, however, it has been hanging if I try to open it.  Yesterday, I closed it accidentally and when I tried to open it again, it hangs, using over 100% of my CPU.  I thought maybe it was a memory issue, since I only had two gig of memory.  But also yesterday I installed 2 new 4 gig DIMM.  Prior to that, I had started to have to close programs in order to not have some of them freeze.  Once I realized that I needed more memory and installed it, everything is coming up roses.  Except the Apimac Timer, which is now totally un-openable.  Any ideas?
Thanks.

  • Firefox use 100% of one CPU (Mac)

    I use last firefox (32) on MacOS X 10.6.8.
Sometime firefox start using 100% a one CPU, from that time the only way to stop it was to quit (it take severals seconds, sometime it hang). When it start i can close all windows, firefox continue using 100% CPU.
I follow standard instructions (update to lastest, disable plugins and extensions...) it do not work.
I not a configuration to reproduce the problem : keep iCloud mail open in one tab is the way to reproduce the problem sometime after a few minutes, sometime after some hours : but it also happend sometime with no iCloud open...

  • Running Adobe Actions is Using 100% of my CPU

Does anyone have a fix for Adobe using 100% of their CPU.  Without running Photoshop I run 5-6%.  As soon as I open Lightroom, send to Photoshop and run an action my CPU Usage spikes to 100%.  What should take 2 minutes max to edit is taking between 5-7 minutes.  I'm spending more time waiting for an action to run than I am actually working.  I'm running Windows 7 64 bit and Creative Cloud version 1.9.0.465.  It's so bad that I have to transfer my images to my laptop (Window's 8) to edit which I SHOULDN'T HAVE TO DO! Here's another complaint:  When I'm in Lightroom and right click on an image and choose to edit in Photoshop I don't always get the option to edit original image or edit a copy.  Most of the time it goes straight to CS6.  When I save the edit the saved edited image does not go back to it's original catalog, rather it goes to the main catalog without keywords and I have to go on a treasure hunt to find it and mark it with keywords.  I hoped purchasing the subscription would eliminate bugs to the program but it doesn't.  I have more bugs with the subscription than I ever had with the purchased programs. It's also important to note that I have not changed any of the preferences.  Thanks for any help y'all can provide.

    Hi,
The size of the image is 1000*600.
I use the default radius of the filter. I don't know the value.
    I run the swf on a Intel core2duo 2.2Ghz.
I use the filter array to apply the filter.
To illustrate my problem, you can download a very simple sample of my project here. It's a grid where i draw a collection of items in a bitmap.
If i apply the filter in the constructor of the grid in Index.as by passing true in the first parameter, my CPU usage is at 20 to 30%. If I don't apply the filter, the CPU usage is at 2 to 3%.
    What is the problem?
    Thanks for your help.

  • How can I get ITunes to stop using 100% of my CPU system resources

When ITunes is up, it uses 100% of my CPU resources, making everything else operate at a snail's pace. I'm not even doing anything with ITunes, but it still seems to hog my machine, a desktop computer running WIndows XP. (When Itunes is closed CPU usage goes down to 4%-25% or thereabouts on average.)
What can I do to stop this? It is very frustrating that Apple would make a program that does this without reason.
    David

    Close your iTunes,
    Go to command Prompt -
(Win 7/Vista) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES, right mouse click "Command Prompt", choose "Run as Administrator".
    (Win XP SP2 & above) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/Command Prompt
In the "Command Prompt" screen, type in
    netsh winsock reset
    Hit "ENTER" key
    Restart your computer.
If you do get a prompt after restart windows to remap LSP, just click NO.
Now launch your iTunes and see if CPU issue is resolved..
If you are still having these type of problems after trying the winsock reset, refer to this article to identify which software in your system is inserting LSP:

  • Speakers use 100% of one CPU - Pavilion dv7

    HP Pavilion dv7-4153cl
I have had two warnings about something using 100% of one CPU. The first one while using Dragon NS. The second was loading a program.
When I clicked the warning, a box came up listing the speakers but nothing seemed to be a problem.
Should I be concerned about these pop-ups?
    Why does it warn me?
Does it slow down the computer?

It doesn't help, has i said : i allready do standard procédure to help (what you point) : update to lastest, disable extension or theme (i do not use), disable plug-ins... nothing helps, the bug is still there.

  • Why is the latest version of Firefox 33.0.2 using 100% of my CPU?

Just like the last update to Thunderbird, with no changes on my system, the latest version of Firefox uses 100% of my CPU where it didn't before. I've run every test, disabled my anti-virus, run in safe mode and it makes no difference.
Since there was no useful answers when I posted about the TB problem, I doubt there will be any here.
Sorry Mozilla, but you're about to lose my support. I already moved away from Thunderbird. Now that FF has the same problem, I'm about to switch my browser to Chrome, even though it is not as good.

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problem.
    See "Creating a profile":
    *http://kb.mozillazine.org/Standard_diagnostic_-_Firefox#Profile_issues
If the new profile works then you can transfer files from a previously used profile to the new profile, but be cautious not to copy corrupted files to avoid carrying over problems.

  • Should Kernel_Task be constantly using 100% of my CPU?

Kernel_task is consistently running ~95-100% of my CPU.  I'm using a 2013 MBA with Mavericks.  Any thoughts about why this may be happening?  I've seen on other forums that this may be related to 3rd party audio apps or something, but I don't have any 3rd party audio apps installed.  Any other ideas?
    Thanks.

In brief: resetting the SMC solved the problem in my case.
My Mac Book Retina started an erratic wake-up behaviour (often hangig up after wake) about three weeks ago (somehow coinciding with upgrade to Mavericks). Last night out of the blue the kernel-task reading went up to several hundred percent, CPU usage by system up to 75-85%, making the machine terribly slow.
In another post, Linc Davis suggested a line of steps inlcuding checking the configuration of the mac. (I will post my results from EtreCheck below).
I unsucessfully tried: reinstalling OSX from apples webite, removing some of the non-needed third party extensions with no effect.
Finally I tried resetting the SMC: Problem stopped, everything back to a smooth and fast running machine.
(System Use about 3-7%, of this kernel_task around 5%)
Thanks to Linc Davis for suggesting this step.

  • Systemd-journal process using 100% of one cpu core after reboot

    journalctl -b showed
    "Process 2016 (virtuoso-t) dumped core."
more than a few times and virtuoso-t would was using more cpu than it does most of the time.
at 14 minutes of uptime systemd-journal stopped using 100% and went back to normal. Anyone know a way to figure out what happened here?
    update:
    systemd-coredump[3182]: Process 3133 (virtuoso-t) dumped core.
systemd-journal[5407]: Permanent journal is using 2.6G (max allowed 4.0G, trying to leave 4.0G free of 50.7G available → current limit 4.0G).

it happened again here is what the journal was saying while it was happening (i removed lots of (virtuoso-t) dumped core that happened ... 10 or more times)

In the Newbie Corner of the forums, there are a few stickied threads that are recommended reads.  One of which is this one.
If the logs are not too too much, then it can be posted here with code tags. If it is crazy big, pastebin it and then post the link.
If this is really all the information it gives about the journal being nuts, then you might want to enable debug levels of logging for the journal and then see if you can gather more information that way.  This can either by done by using a drop-in snippet to the unit file, or by turning on debug levels for the entire system from the kernel command line.
The journal is not designed in such a way that it can be continously written to.  There are safeguards in place to ensure that masively spamming services are cut off after a certain number of log messages in a given timeframe.  Additionally, even the flush from the journal in RAM to the disk is only done periodically.

  • Plugin-container.exe takes over and uses 100% of my CPU locking me out and leaving my PC non-functioning. Is this a bug, or a memory leak, in the Firefox software? Can anything be done to fix this problem?

In looking at Windows Task Manager I found that plugin-container.exe was taking over 100% of my CPU and my system was frozen. Is this a memory leak or other bug?

Thank you! I have been having problems with Adobe Flash since downloading the new 11.1 version. I will download it again and reinstall it, hopefully that will correct the problem.

  • Access Connections on Win7 64-bit uses 100% of the CPU

I have been experiencing a problem with Access Connections 5.03 on a T61P where the process utilizes 100% of the CPU and does not get past the initial product title screen.  Attaching a debugger to the process yields a stack trace for the spinning thread of:

  • Mds_Stores some times used 100% of CPU

Hi, some times mds-stores jump the processe to100% of CPU,  and I must close it with the Activity Monitor, because is the only way to kill the processes , by it self doesn't stop running (today 3 hours still working) .
What is mds_stores ? And how I can fix it, otherwise used the Activity Monitor.

That means that Spotlight is indexing your Harddrive.
To switch off the indexing open a Terminal window and type:
    sudo mdutil -a -i off
NB: You will be prompted to enter your admin password.
If you change your mind about Spotlight, and decide to give it  another try, then it’s just as easy to switch back on as it was to  switch off.
Again, in a terminal window type the following:
    sudo mdutil -a -i on
NB: You will be prompted to enter your admin password.

  • DSC software using 100 percent of CPU time.

    nicitidl5.exe running even after shutdown.

    Hello,
What versions of LabVIEW and DSC are you running?
Are you seeing this behavior on multiple computers?
Do you see the cpu problem only when (and after) there's an application running? If so, what kind of tags do you have in your application?
Do you get any errors while shutting down the application/computer? If so, what are the exact error messages?
Please respond to the questions above and feel free to add any other details regarding the problem.

  • Why is Flash Player using 100% of my CPU?

I know this has been brought up before but over the last 2 days I have searched and not been able to find a real answer.  Every time I go to a page with Flash my CPU usage spikes to 100% and stays there renering my computer (almost) useless.  Youtube, Pandora, etc. all stream with poor resolution and very choppy.  I have tried everything I know how (or have read about) and have had no luck solving the problem.  Are there any real answers to why this is happening and how to make it stop?
To give a little background, I just reinstalled Windows XP on a Dell XPS with 4 GB RAM.  It's got a NVIDIA GeForce 6800 Video card with an up to date driver, I just installed Flash Player 12 and as far as I know, all other drivers are up to date as well.  Any and all help would be appreciated.  PLEASE, someone out there has to have an answer for thi, it's driving me nuts.  Thanks.

    Your "Plug-in Container" is corrupted.
    download the following:
Flash Player for ActiveX (Internet Explorer)
Flash Player Plug-in (All other browsers)
    Flash Player Uninstaller
    Also, download these:
    Shockwave Player Uninstaller
Shockwave Player 112 FULL installer (ther browsers)
You'll need to install Shockwave with the FULL installer for IE too, but there isn't a direct download for it. You'll need to go to: http://get.adobe.com/shockwave/otherversions/ using IE AFTER everything else is done.
Save all the files and close your browser.
Run the uninstallers first (both of them)
    Go to: C/Windows/System32
    Delete the Macromed folder.
Open your Registry Editor (Start>Run or press the Windows key + R and type 'regedit' [minus the quotes] and click OK)
In the Registry Editor, go to:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE
Delete the Macromedia folder (Right click and choose "Delete").
    Go to:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software and delete the Macromedia folder there too.
Close the Registry Editor and empty your recycle bin.
Run the Flash Player installers, and then the Shockwave FULL installer you downloaded.
Lastly, open IE and go to: http://get.adobe.com/shockwave/otherversions/ to download and install the Shockwave FULL installer for ActiveX (IE).
For Firefox, I recommend FlashBlock (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/flashblock/) It's prevent ANY Flash content from loading until you allow it manually. It can get to be a pain, but you eventually get used to it.

  • Safari using 100% or more CPU

Safari Web Content is hammering my CPU (usually over 100%) on certain web pages - for example:
    http://www.tigerdirect.com/sectors/campaigns/include/events/2013/marchmania/inde x.asp
The above link is to TigerDirect website March madness sweeps.  I typically visit to put in my entry into the sweeps and you can "vote" on items to get them into the next round.
My equipment: MacBook 3.1, 2.2Ghz dual processor, recently upgraded to 4GB (thinking more RAM may help), I've previously replaced my hard drive so have plenty of space (I'm using maybe just over 25% of disk space), I am running Snow Leopard 10.6.8 and using Safari 5.1.8
Flash Player is updated.  I have also run the software update and nothing needs updating.  In addition I have tried disabling Java to see if that helps and it does not.  As mentioned above I even tried a RAM upgrade and although the computer seems to run faster now, the Safari web browser still lags at times and then completely locks up on pages like the one above.  I also have tried changing DNS settings and that sometimes seems to help but not always.
The above is just an example as it seems to appear quite a bit on other pages as well - my wife uses Safari to access her college studies and she is always complaining how slow the computer is.
What I have noticed is that Safari will jump to over 100% CPU and then as it comes down a bit I also notice kernel_task using a high amount of CPU but not over 100%.  When I run Firefox it doesn't get that high, even on the above page.
I'm hoping by showing an example someone with a bit more knowledge can shed some light on why Safari just seems to be stuck looping when I navigate to that page.
    Thanks in advance!
