APO CTM Server

HI
I want to know , can we SCM server for CTM functionality instead of having separate  server for CTM ?
In our scenario , we do not want to have another server and want to use SCM server for CTM .
Any pointer in the regard , will be a great help.
Regards
Bhupendra

Hi,
I am not sure how you will be able to manage with a single server for both Application server and CTM Optimizer server.
Yes, CTM optimizer server runs on Windows and SCM appl server runs on either Unix or AIX. Apart from that there are a number of other factors that drives the need for a separate CTM optimizer server.
1) For APO, most of the application server's work processes are utilized for other batch processing that takes place and placing the CTM server might prove dampening.
2) The CTM engine in itself requires multi core processer and huge amount of Cache memory for it to be able to chunk the master and transcation data.
Another technical aspect is that the CTM engine runs on C++ code and it necessarily needs to have a separate instance running and cannot be part of the SCM servers which are based on different technology.
Hope this helps.
Thanks
Mani

  • APO CTM - 'no available and free destination addresses could be found'

I am using APO CTM release 5.1.
When I run CTM I get error message 'no available and free destination addresses could be found'.
Does anyone know the reason for this error.
    Thanks...

    Hi,
Check the avaailibility of the CTM optimization server.
Go to transaction COPT00 and check the CTM server connection cutomization and also test the same with "connection test" option.
Also it is possible that some more CTM engines are running simultaneously and hence the engine is not able to find a server.
    Hope this will help.

  • Access R/3 Application server data in APO

    Hi Experts,
I have a requirement, where in there is some material data is written onto R/3 application server.
Now I need to access this data from APO, i guess the approach could be via RFC....
Early answers with examples would be rewarded with suitable points.....
    Thanks in Advance,
    NSL

    Hi Anuradha,
Thanks for your reply. Can you please explain the steps involved to write the R/3 appl server data to APO appl server with Unix scripts, with example...
But i beileve this can be done as,
Trigger a RFC in APO with the R/3 Application server path. Which in turn reads the data in designated path and returns back. So my question is, is there any standard RFC available in APO to achieve this.
    Regards,
    NSL

  • APO and BW in the same server, is possible?

    Hi Experts,
We have an BW 7.0 installation, and we are thinking about to install APO in the same server.
    - Is this possible?
    - Is there any application that integratte BI (Netweaver 2004s) and SCM-APO?
    - I will have only one login or are the separate applications  with individual user and loggin?
    >> Could you give me any link with sap recomendations about this?
    Thank you in advance!

    Hello,
BW is integral part of APO system & this is mainly used for APO Applications (DP). However yau may not be able to load APO on server where BW is already in place.
In case you are using BW extensively for other application, recommendation is to have independant BW sytem.

    Hi Khadar,
    1) The information you have provided is the CTM optimiser log.
Run the job in background and in  sm37 and click on job log &
analyse the exact error happened.  In case if you are not able
to do, please provide the error log.
    2) Check the livecache is stable in its operations when the job
    runs (check with basis team)
    3) Run consistency check for master data before CTM run
    4) Check for any struck queues and clear those and rerun
    5) If you feel more inconsistencies in system, run livecache
    consistency and rerun CTM run

  • CTM 8.0 Solaris 10 Sparc-64 Installation Problems

I am installing CTM 8.0 on a Solaris 10, Sparc 64 Sun Server/Workstation. I am having a problem installing the CTM, I installed Oracle 9i with no problems(that I know of) with patch 9.2.0.8. When I go to start the ctmsetup.sh it checks for the latest version of JRE, which is fine, however it says that I don't have the Solaris patches for JRE and it lists them. Well the patches I have are more up to date then those listed so when I tried to install the patches they listed it said that they were obsoleted by what I have already. Secondly it gives the message "Starting Cisco CTM Server Installation using Install Anywhere" but then the next line says "You pressed Cancel/Upgrade/Install" when I hadn't pressed anything, and it just stays there. Your help is much appreciated.
    Thanks!

Hi, how you setup oracle 9.2.0.8 patch?? I tried
    cd /oraclesw9i/Disk1
./runInstaller -silent -responseFile /oraclesw9i/patchset_64bit_9208.rsp but, with key -silent i have an error: cannot communicate with X server, on my WinXP workstation?
    echo $DISPLAY > myws:0.0

  • How to install APO?

    Hi All,
i wish to install APO (NW04 platform).
may i know what are the prerequisites for installing APO?
if u have any installation guides plz do share with me !
i had heard we also need to install APO cache server along with the APO server!
    was that right?
    plz do clarify my doubts!
    Thanks,
    Ravi ([email protected])

    Hi Ravi,
Now we don't have specific installation for APO, now it is coming along with mySAP SCM Technology.
    Pre-requests:
if it is Windows plat form you can install only on Windows 2003 with SP1
And the Oracle version is 10G.
you should install the JDK 1.4.0_13 for 2004 technology.
you need to set the Vertual memory and the IP address.
you need to install the Live Cache after installting SCM and you need to activate the Live Cache from TCode LCA03.
Reward me if it is useful.
    Cheers,
    Praveen.

  • Upgrade CTM or Downgrade CTC ?

    Hi all,
we've been implement DWDM ring consist of 4 nodes ONS15454SDH (ver 7.2) and recently we've added a new DWDM ROADM consist of 5 nodes (ver. 8.51).
currently we're using CTM 8.0 to monitor existing ONS ver 7.2, but with new added nodes ver 8.51, we'll have to upgrade existing CTM8.0 to CTM8.5
    issues:
    1. we've using CTM server 8.0 to monitor and report traffic for our clients and vital because we don't have any other NMS for Cisco DWDM.
    2. upgrading CTM8.0 to CTM8.5 will need downtime, correct me if i'm wrong!
this will make us lost NMS data reported to our client which is avoided.
    questions:
    1. which one is better, upgrade the NMS server or trying to downgrade Cisco ONS 8.51 to 8.0 software version? (if it's possible)
    2. if i'm gonna upgrade NMS CTM8.0 to CTM8.5, is there any issue with bugs , etc?
as you know last time when I upgrade NMS from CTM 7.2 to 8.0, I got bugs which i can't restore my database after upgrade the NMS server. this make us to create an incident report and apologize to our client for losing our NMS database about nine-month periode.
    Thanks&Regard
    Rano

New software usually have new features and bug fixes that you can take advantage of.
So you should upgrade your CTM to 8.5.
Before upgrading read the CTM8.5 release note and make sure you are aware of any caveat.
It is usually best practice to do a full system backup of your CTM server so that you can recover in the event of upgrade problems..
Upgrade your CTM when you have less activities on the Network, that way you minimize risk to your customers. Note that once the upgrade is completed, CTM will syncronized and retrieve any outstanding and PM data on the DWDM devices.

    Hello All,
We have a scenario wherein we need to transport forecast profiles from APO development server to the APO production sever.
Can anyone suggest me proper steps to include the forecast profiles into the transport request.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Jacky.

    Hi Sujay ,
    Thanks again.
I did check the transaction mentioned by you. But it din't help in my scenario.
I got the sloution for my problem,
we have two tables for forecast profiles, i,e /SAPAPO/DP440G and /SAPAPO/DP440P (these gets updates as and when we create a forecast profiles ) ,
we have to add the entries from this table for the particular forecast profile into the transport request and then we have to transport those requesets , then the profiles would be transported accordingly.
Anyways thanks for replying.. i am giving you points for helping me..:-)

  • RSAR_TRFC_DATA_RECEIVED Function module does not exist or EXCEPTION raised

    Dear All,
We have 2 production systems one is a APO server & the other being BW server.
While checking in SM58 of our APO production server we found that so many entries were in error saying "ERROR REQU_<number> PG# 12 In BW" with target system as BWCLNT<CLIENT NO>.
We checked in both the production systems for any job failure w.r.t same time span but could find nothing.
When we tried to solve this by using F6 option to re-execute the LUW it says "Functional Module doesnot exists or Exception Raised". After doing checks it was found out that the Functional Module (RSAR_TRFC_DATA_RECEIVED) was existing . So we need to know about how we can solve this EXCEPTION RAISED issue.
    Thanks & Regards,
