APO DP CVC

I was unfortunately deleted CVC's related to one customer
could you please let me know how to retrive those combinations, when i checked in the  amnage log there i unable to see the detaled data, except the customer no
thanks in advance

Raj,
Since you say that you deleted the CVCs for a particular customer then at least you knoe teh characteristic value for that customer. Try and access data for any cube which you updated recently for DP. It could be teh sales cube, or the backup cube. From here you can generate the CVCs into the list. From there you can use a filter to select the Customer and generate them again. What more, if you have the data backup you can again load the data.

  • APO DP CVC's diappeared

    Hi,
The POS, CVC's, Planning area , planning and forecasting e'thing was working.
We performed the Initial/Re-load of Characteristics (Infoobjects) from R/3 and SAP BW.... the Infoobjects like Material, Shipto were re-loaded from SAP BW.
When we go to POS and check the CVC count --> it says 3000 records but when you display the CVC it lists nothing.
when we go to Interactive planning -- see no objects to select for planning.
Not sure what went wrong.. please help!

    1) POS and Planning area is active/initialized alreadyu2026 we did not do anything on this.
    2) Go to MPOS > RIGHT click> click on check char. combination/ Master data.
Gives a message  u201CThere are no plannable characteristic combinationsu201D
    3) /SAPAPO/MC62 (Maintain Characteristic Values)
It gives  the number of combinations : 3000 odd
When you try to display the CVCu2019s it show no records.
    4) /SAPAPO/MC62 (Maintain Characteristic Values)
When you do u201Cselect conditionsu201D  to restrict the CVCu2019s selectionu2026. The fields like Material, Ship To display no values for selection when you do F4 and these are the Infoobjects which were re-loaded from BW
Although other fields like Locations, Sold to which were not loaded from BW, on F4 displays values to select.
5)The POS u2013 internally generated cube shows only u201Cplanning object-GUIDu201D exactly same numbers as it shows in CVCu2019s but when you try to display other fields ..it shows no records in the Cube
6)To view the CVCu2019s I tried to put * in the selection criteria to check but it still so no records
    7) /SAPAPO/SDP94 - Interactive Demand Planning
When I try to select objects for planning, It says u201CNo Objects Selectedu201D
So the system shows the number of combinations for CVCu2019s but Actually it does not show CVCu2019s and in Interactive planning it does not show the plannable objects.
Not sure what is wrong. How some of the Infoobject refresh/load from BW can impact the CVCu2019s?
    Please help

  • Standard Concepts: CVC and POS in APO

    Hello All,
please con anybody explain me these standards concepts in APO: CVC and POS, in detail what is the links between these 2 concepts?
my client has given me a brief explanation that CVC is master data of DP, and POS is the principle structure where is based DP and contain the CVC.
is not clear for me these concepts and how should i do to control on the system these informations and the links.
    thanks a lot
    Bilal

    Bilal,
    Firstly refer to :
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_scm50/helpdata/en/8f/9d6937089c2556e10000009b38f889/frameset.htm
Now, let me try and explain to you briefly.
Consider a table. A table has a certain structure. This structure is defined by its fields. For instance a table for sales orders will have SO Number, Sold to Party, Ship to Party, Reference PO, Delivery Date etc... These fields, constitute the structure. Then there rae records. For the sales order table a record will be
    So number=100001
    Sold to Party = ABC
Ship to Party = XYZ etc
    This is a record.
Now try to draw an analogy with POS. The Master Planning Object structure constitutes a structure. You assign characteristics to an MPOS, which are equivalent to teh fields in the table. For instance the standard DP MPOS 9ADPBAS conatins the follwoing characteristics:
    9ABRAND     Brand
    9ALOCNO     APO Location
    9ALOCTO     APO Destinatn Loc.
    9AMATNR     APO Product
    9AVKORG     Sales Organization
This structure is called the MPOS. It defines the lowest level at which data is storeed and planned.
Now draw an analogy of teh table records to the CVC. A characteristic value combination is a record with values assigned to the characteristics of the MPOS. For instance one CVC could be:
    9ABRAND     PEPSI
    9ALOCNO     NEW YORK
    9ALOCTO     PARIS
    9AMATNR     PEPSI CAN 330 ML
    9AVKORG     001
This is ONE CVC. similarl;y for the same MPOS you can have another CVC:
    9ABRAND     PEPSI
    9ALOCNO     NEW DELHI
    9ALOCTO     BANGALORE
    9AMATNR     PEPSI PET 500 ML
    9AVKORG     002
Similarly you can have thousands of CVCs for the same POS.
So, MPOS is nothing but just the structure which defines what are the plannable characteristics. CVCs are records, or values assigned to MPOS characteristics...
    MPOS: /sapapo/msdp_admin
    CVC: /sapapo/mc62
I have tried to draw an analogy so that you understand better. hope this helps.
I would sugegst you to purchase "Supply Chain Planning in SAP SCM by Jorg Dickersback. Its an awesome book for starters.

  • Taking long time to load from the planning area to the cube since cvc big?

    Hi all,
We have a huge number of cvc for various countries, while we are planning to load the data from the planning area to the cube using those cvc it consuming 40 hours.
I happneed to check the cvc are more than 15,000 that is one reason. But i still need to improve the time taken to load the data from the planning area to the cube using the process chain.
I happened to split the process chain to load data respectively to the sales organisation but still the same!!
Can anyone help me nor recommend the sap process to improve the data loading from planning to cube in apo demand planning?
    Thanks
    Pooja

    Hi Pooja,
15K is not huge at all. We have worked with 50k and still managed do the extract into cube in about an hours time.
Pls help me understand a few things, so that we can help you better.
    1) Number of KF?
    2) Number of Periods?
    3) Key Figure Storage types - Is there any KF stored in Infocube rather than Time Series, this can be found in the Key Figure details in the Planning Area.
    4) Pls explain your data flow like PA--> Datasource --> Communication Structure --> UPdate rules --> Cube???
    5) Are you using Parallel extraction in your Datasource? This can be checked in Data Extraction tools from your Planning Area Screen.
    Few general tips.
    1) Parallelize your datasource.
    2) Load into PSA and Infocube parallely.
    3) Do not include KF stored in Infocube for your backup, use only KF stored in LC.
    Thanks

  • How to pass back results of gATP from APO to R/3

    Dear all,
we're currently working on a gATP implementation and face following open challenges for which we kindly ask you for your valuable support:
1.) We need to pass back the allocated CVC of the gATP (product allocation) check from APO to z-append fields of VBAP. In order to do that we implemented additional field catalog fields which are updated in one of the product allocation userexits on APO side. Using an enhancement of form MVERF_PRUEFEN in SAPFV45V the data which is passed back from APO to R/3 via field_catalog can be written into the respective VBAP fields. ONLY: this doesn't work for a "complete delivery only" customer/order as MVERF_PRUEFEN is not called in such a case.
---> Do you have any proposals where/how to implement the functionality to write back the results passed back by APO into VBAP fields?
2.) In case of incomplete confirmation (not enough qty) the "APO Product Availability Overview" screen appears. We do not want to show this screen in APO to our users. There should be just a warning message but not this full screen. Do you have any ideas how to turn off the screen (similar to what happens if the order is posted in background)
Thanks again for your great input and help!
    M.

    Dear Mohan,
    thanks for your reply.
We actually use the functionality you described already for passing the required additional information from R/3 to APO. What we're currently searching, is a solution to pass back results (such as the allocated CVC or additional information from APO) from APO back to R/3 and store it there in VBAP-appends.
    Thanks,
    Maawdee

  • Issue in new macro calculating values in time series in CVC

    Hi friends.
    I'm new in APO.
I have a problem with a new macro in CVC which calls up a FM to calculate and store data.
This new macro calculates the selected data in time series (TS) and e.g. we select 3 days to make calculation with this macro, the first selected day in TS is ignorated.
We created this macro to do this calculation when user enter some manual values and want it to be calculated in the deliver points in CVC, by TS.
This macro calls up my Z function which internally calls up a standard FM '/SAPAPO/TS_DM_SET' (Set the TS Information).
Sometimes, this FM, raises error 6 (invalid_data_status = 6), but only when I user 'fcode_check' rotine together.
After that, we call the FM '/SAPAPO/MSDP_GRID_REFRESH' in mode 1 and 'fcode_check' rotine in program '/sapapo/saplmsdp_sdp'.
Firstly, I thought it could be dirty global variables in standard FM so I put it inside a program and called it by submit and return command. But now I think could not be this kind of error because it did not work. And inverted the results, and now only first line os TS get storted and change in CVC.
It's a crazy issue. Please friends. Guide me for a solution!
    thanks.
    Glauco

Hi friend. Issue still without a correct solution yet.
A friend changed the macro adding another step calling the same function. Now this macro has two calls in sequence to same FM. Now it's working, but we can't understand why it's working now.
It's seems like dirty memory in live cash.
Nobody knows how to solve this!
    Glauco.

  • DP BOM CVC Generation from other PLOB

    Hello All,
I am trying to generate CVCs in a DP BOM planning object structure (APO 4.1) based on the CVCs that exist in another planning object structure.  The non-DP bom relevent characteristics are identical in both plobs.
Source PLOB (no DP BOM) Char:  Z_PRODUCT, Z_SUB_BR1, Z_VENDOR
    Source PLOB (DP BOM) Char:  Z_PRODUCT, Z_SUB_BR1, Z_VENDOR, 9ABOMID, 9ABOMIO, 9APPMNAME
When I try to generate via MC62 (option generate immediately or option generate in background) I receive message /SAPAPO/TSM079, "Planning object structure Z_VS_FG (source plob)does not have the required structure".  When I try to generate via MC62 (option Load to Worklist) I am able to see the source CVCs in the worklist and generate them.  We need the ability to use the generate these CVCs via a background job in a process chain.
I checked OSS and note 972129 talks about this message when using a BADI, and when I use the option "Switch on Implemented BADI", I am able to generate, but the note says, "Note that you should now set the indicator for activating implemented BAdIs only if there are actually BAdIs activated for this function that should be run. Ignoring message /SAPAPO/TSM 079 may cause serious inconsistencies if you do not fill the missing characteristic values correctly using a BAdI."
Has anybody seen this before, and if so, is it OK to use the BADI option even though a BADI is not being used?
    Sean

    Anjali,
...but other than the DP-BOM specific characteristics, these POS are identical...why should I need to utilize a user exit to map them?
Also, checking on the "Switch on Implemented BADI"  checkbox without using a BADI has allowed me to bypass the error message and the CVC does get created.  I have yet to see any ill effects so far from this, and so was wondering if someone had done this before

  • Use of storage bucket profile in APO DP

I'm trying to clarify the sizing implications of using various buckets in the APO DP storage buckets profile.
Suppose I have a storage bucket profile 1 consisting of calendar weeks and days, and a profile 2 consisting of weeks only.
What will be the relative database/memory sizing resulting from these 2 profiles?
    Thanks for any advice...

    Hi,
As our other friends have mentioned here, just having a storage bucket profile doesnt consume memory, however let us assume you have generated time series objects based on these storage bucket profile, the following example will highlight the memory usage.
    Horizon used -> 2 years.
No. of Weekly bucket --> 104 or 105
No. of daily bucket --> 365
Now if you generate Time Series out of your SBP which contains both daily and weekly, total memory occupied will be 365 +104 = 469 times your number of CVCs
If you generate time series out of your SBP which contains just weeks, total memory occupied will be 104 times your number of CVCs..
    Hope this helps.

  • Use of planning characteristics in APO DP

I am using APO DP V5.
In my planning object structure I have the following planning characteristics:
    - product
    - product group
    - customer
Suppose I am extracting history data (based on despatches) from an attached ECC system.
As I see things, I have two alternatives for the extraction of 'product group':
    1. Extract the product group when I extract the despatch data from ECC
    2. Model the product group as an attribute (display) of the product InfoObject, maintain this attribute as part of APO master data, and then read the product group from the product master data when I extract the despatch data from ECC.
What is 'best practice' in this situation.
    Thanks, Bob Austin

    Bob
Both your Options being valid technically and will work you need to now judge based on the demerits of the methods based on your situation
If you expect a huge CVC population and dont to have say a million CVCs you would want to use attributes thus effectively distributing it into two tables
Your Product Group to product will be one to many i suppose so the CVCs in your MPOS will be reduced by a factor or that ratio
Now this also means that you will need to look at a join of the table if you are using you Attributes as selections. So that is going to take more time and if your client is not patient youo may not want to take that route
Also your downstream planning process and your regular maintainance of your system needs to be considered.
Attributes are good if you want them just to navigate but if you want a forecast profile or if you want a realignment based on them it might end up to be a bit of a pain. I remember we had a post from you on this one and there are a few more points that are not favorable to Nav attribs
So youo need to weigh in the advantages each of these will give you and how much weightage you place on these advantages for your situation.
If you have the Prod group in ECC and can extract it i would prefer that option. Looks straightforward that way

  • APO DP planning books - use of 2 grids in view

I am using APO DP V5.
I know that it's possible to have 2 grids in a planning book view.
Can anyone give good examples of where 2 grids have been found to be useful?
Would it be possible to have 1 grid for 'forecast' and 1 grid for 'history'?
    Thanks,
    Bob Austin

The definition of two grids in a data view (not sure if you mean that by planning book view) is only possible when creating a data view for the first time. Once a data view is created you cannot add the second grid as the Table 2 option is grayed out under Title section of Data View tab.
Good example of using 2 grids is while using DP BOM functionality and also in those cases where the top grid keyfigures are to be drilled down but the bottom grid keyfigures remain at aggregate level. So if you want to compare the forecast numbers in detail with the total budget then use the total budget keyfigure in Grid 2. Remember while drilling down, keyfigures in Grid 2 are not drilled down.
In you case of having forecast in one grid and histroy in another can be effective since the data in the keyfigures are in two different time horizons. But remember if you have history in Grid 2 then the data will be aggregate (assuming you have loaded multiple CVCs) and will not be drilled down which the Forecast keyfigure in Grid 1 is drilled down to lower levels.
    Hope this helps.
    Thanks,
    somnath

  • Use of navigation attributes in APO DP

I am trying to clarify how navigation attributes compare with full planning characteristics in APO DP (V5).
In general, I know that navigation attributes are used for selection and navigation in APO DP.
But suppose I have a navigation attribute called 'product type' for planning characteristic 'product'. Isn't it also possible to forecast and make adjustments at the 'product type' level.
If the answer is yes, what is the real difference between the use of navigation attributes and planning characteristics?
Thanks for any help with this.
    Bob Austin

You do not see difference in Attribute and characteristics in the interactive planning screen. So you should be able to create selections and do general navigation
just a little more detail on the difference between nav attributes and planning char
But creating forecast profiles might be a problem- Selections with navigational attributes do not create forecast assignment table entries. As of SCM4.1, the attribute information can be stripped out of the selection via BADI, allowing an assignment entry to be created.
Maintenance of CVCs also have to be done differently. Navigational attributes are not same as CVCs. Instead they point at the value of another characteristic. We create master data for nav attrib in the Admin workbench. Also If you plan to use navigational attributes on standard characteristics, say in 9AMATNR, then you could have issues in SNP since SNP does not support Nav attrib
Also realignment of Navigational attributes is not a standard process but can be done.

  • Bw-apo consultant roles n responsibilities?

    hi,
i am a bw consultant.i just want to know what are the roles n responsibilities of a bw-apo consultant.

    Hello PADMAVIJAYA M,
I am in a similar role right now. In this role, you might be in charge of any of the following:
    1) Design and implementation of components for extraction of data from source systems and loading of data into APO structures. For example, in APO Demand Planning, sales history is retrieved from a source system (e.g. SAP ERP, Oracle, Flat File) and then placed into a temporary InfoCube in the APO server. The data from this InfoCube is then used to load data into the DP Planning Area. It can also be used to generate Characteristic Value Combinations (CVCs).
    2) Design and implementation of components for extraction of data from APO structures (and then loading that elsewhere). For example, in APO Demand Planning, you will be in charge of extracting data from the Planning Area (using the datamart interface) and then processing that (e.g. aggregating/disaggregating the data into the required hierarchy level) or loading that to an external BW server (e.g. an Enterprise DW).
    3) Reporting (i.e. using BeX)
For example, you might be asked to design reports in BeX that for example, might compute the discrepancy of  the sales history VS the forecast..
There is usually a large volume of data that comes from APO and we have to make sure we manage the performance aspects.
In summary, I guess this is "typical" BW Consultant work except that you are dealing with an APO system as the target/source.
    Hope this helps

  • Updating of data in APO DP - what is 'best practice'?

I am using APO DP V5.
I am using XI as an integration broker to receive data from external sources which is to be loaded into APO DP.
There are of course different ways of doing this, for example:
    1. From XI, pass an XML message which then loads a delta queue in APO BW, loads an InfoCube, which is then used to load data into an APO planning area
    2. From XI, pass the data into BAPI parameters, which are then used to directly update data in an APO planning area via a BAPI call (eg BAPI PlanningBookAPS)
What is the recommended 'best practice' here?
    Thanks,
    Bob Austin

    Hi Bob,
I do not have experience in SCM 5.0 and XI but shall give my views from general experience.
What kind of data you are loading in APO DP is the driver for the two ways mentioned by you.
Traditionally (older versions of SCM/APO and non XI interface) Sales History is captured into an Infocube and then loaded to DP Planning Area. The reason - you normally use this Infocube for generation of CVCs which is the Master Data in APO DP. Moreover you will use this data to generate Proportional Factors for disaggregation of Statistically generated Forecast at aggregate level to the lowest level. So there is a requirement for loading Historical data from external systems to APO DP via an Infocube.
The other kind of data would be market and sales forecast. This is a timeseries data which need to be directly loaded to the Planning Area for immediate Interactive Planning. In that case rather than putting it in an Infocube and then periodically loading the data from the Infocube to the Planning Area, its better to load the data directly in the Planning Area. There the BAPI will be a good option.
Hope this gives some ideas to your query.
    Thanks,
    Somnath

  • Can any explain APO -DP/SNP production support.

    Hi sap gurus..
this is suresh ,i am new for APO -DP/SNP production support,
exactly what my role and responsibilities in production support, what i can do
please any one healp me i am very thankful to them.
    regards
    suresh kumar

    Hi Suresh,
    In DP/SNP production support,
    1)  You need to monitor business related background jobs on daily/weekly/monthly basis
    2)  You need to analyse and take corrective actions for failed jobs
    3)  Any production related issue, you may receive tickets and accordingly you need to analyse the issue and find out suitable solutions in line with client
    4)  Documentation activities if any needs to be carried out
    5)  For system downtimes/incidents, suitable back ups/job retriggerings needs to be done
    6)  In DP, updation of CVCs/planning book data extraction if any needs to be carried out.

  • APO Cube data is not showing in Planning Book

    Hi All,
Please help me with the following issue.. We use to load the data to APO cube manually from Flat file by executing BW (Backlog, Historical) reports every week. (not a good practice). That time Planning book was working fine.. And now we automated this process by creating the data marts from BW ODS to APO Cube and the loads are successful with process chain.. But I don’t see cube data in Planning book.. In this process the existing info objects properties (Alpha has been removed) has been changed on APO side for mapping and loading purpose.. So when I load the data , the load is successful but I don’t see the data in the Planning book(Note : the cube was refreshed and I guess I need to generate CVCs and do some thing in TSCUBE).. Please explain me the details steps. I am BW consultant and don’t know much on APO.Present status i see the data in APO cube and not in Planning Book
    Thank you

    Hi karan
have you loaded the data from APO cube into the Planning book with TSCUBE ? you can add this step in your process chain also.
If you have made changes in the strcture of BW data mapping then you dont need to change CVCs.
