APO DP Forecast smoothening

How can one smoothen the forecast?

Hi Ashish,
Smoothening the forecast means fine tuning the forecast
generated by the system through various ways by
making modifications, cleaning unwanted historical data, outliers
etc.,
You can follow the process for smoothening
1)  When creating your planning area, include key figures you want
to use for fine-tuning.
2) Create a planning book that includes rows for fine-tuning for example,
a row or rows in which the demand planner maintains the forecast, a row
for the forecast modification to be entered by the demand manager, and a
row for the fine-tuned forecast.
3) Define any macros that you need; for example, a macro that calculates
the sum of the demand planner's forecast and the demand manager's
modification, and writes the result to the fine-tuned forecast row.

  • APO - Aggregate Forecasting and Best Practices

I am interested in options to save time and improve accuracy of forecasts in APO Demand Planning.   Can anyone help me by recommending best practices, processes and design that they have seen work well?
We currently forecast at the Product level (detailed).  We are considering changing that to the Product Family level.   If you have done this, please reply.

    Hello Dan -
Doing it at the Product level is very detailed (but it depends on the number of SKU's Available and that are to be forecasted).
Here for me on my project we have about sample size 5000 finished goods to start with and forecasting at that minute level wont help. For me i have classified a product group level where i have linked all the similar FGs. tht way when you are working with the product group you are able to be a little from assertive in your forecasting. After that you can use proportional factors that will help you in allocating the necessary forecast down to product level. This way you are happy as well as the management is happy (high level report) as they dont have to go thru all the data that is not even necessary for them to see.
    Hope this helps.

  • APO DP Forecast saved automatically

    Hi,
We are on APO 4.1 .
I am in /sapapo/sdp94 screen and I click forecast button at top to go to forecast screen. I execute new forecast here by selecting new model. When I click Green Back Button, it saves my newly generated forecast automatically without asking for confirmation . Has anyone seen this ?. Any workaround for this ?.
    Thanks.

    i meant user parameter
this is set in the user settings from any screen
in the top menu bar go to system >> user profile>> own data>> parameter tab
or you can set it in SU01 for the users. There is a parameters tab
enter this value and i would assume the paramter value would be X or 1 or 0. Thats something you might have to try and let us know. Maybe there are some OSS notes available on it
if it works and you want all users to have it you might have to work with the authorizations to make sure all roles have it

  • APO DP Forecast profile consistency check

I am using APO DP V5.
Has anyone any experience of using the 'forecast profile consistency check' pgm /sapapo/rmdp_fcst_prpfl_consis?
    What exactly does it do?
    Thanks,
    Bob Austin, Atos Origin

    Hello,
This report /SAPAPO/RMDP_FCST_PRPFL_CONSIS is  consistency for forecast profiles
While there is no need to schedule the report automatically at regular intervals, there are some special situations in which it can be very useful.
When must this report be run?
    1. When you transport forecast profiles from a system A to a system B. In this case, you must convert the internal version indicator (Id).
    2. If you are having problems with the date display or if the system changes from the relative date specification to the absolute specification for no obvious reason.
When should you run this report?
    1. If you are working with generated forecast profiles (user parameter /SAPAPO/FCST_GUIDS).
    2. If you are using a manual forecast.
What exactly does this report do?
    1. The internal version ID is checked.
    2. Date fields are checked. Fields filled with 00000000 are initialized.
    3. Overall profiles without any single profiles are deleted.
    4. Generated forecast profiles that are no longer assigned to a selection are deleted.
    5. The assignment of forecast profiles to a selection is deleted if the forecast profile no longer exists.
    6. Parameters for the manual forecast are deleted for any forecast profiles that no longer exist.

  • APO Standard Forecast Consumption Condition in /SAPAPO/DM_BADI_CSP

    Hi
I need to change the standard forecast consumption logic to meet the business requirement which is as follows.
Forecast should be consumed based on the fiscal month window.
Note: Standard SAP /APO functionality do not support forecast consumption based on the fiscal month window instead system uses consumption period [in calender days] in backward/forward direction and system do not restrict the forecast consumption window based on the fiscal month.
Please provide inputs if you have faced such situation. I have got a BAdI  '/SAPAPO/DM_BADI_CSP' that most closely resembles to serve the purpose but then I don't know much about it. Any sample implementation will also be helpful.

    Hi,
    For Issue#1
I have ran this utility multiple times, but its not correcting. Probably i need to raise OSS message to sort it out.
    For Issue#2
I think i have confused you, i have two scenarios first where i have sales order/delivery coming from external system. I am not worried about them as i will not be doing PGI for such order.
Second scenario which i am having is very standard scenario. I have forecast in APO and creating sales order/ delivery in ECC. When they come to APO they consume forecast. Till this point every thing is fine. As soon as i do PGI of delivery, then that quantity should move to withdrawal from allocated, but in my case its not going to withdrawal but getting removed from allocated. This is resulting in increase of forecast quantity. I am tring to resolve this issue and seeking your help.

  • DP Forecast transfer to R/3 for Specific Period

    Hi Friends,
I have APO DP forecast ready to be transfered to R/3 demand management. When I transfer it to demand management even past forecast is transfered again. Is there anyway to restrict it so that only future forecast is transfered to R/3.
    Thanks and Best Regards, Manoj

you need to use a release profile and schedule it as a mass processing job
to restrict the time you can create a data view that has only the periods you need and use that in scheduling the mass processing job created above

  • Stock Transfer and Demand APO

    Hello Everybody good morning,
I've got a scenario which i would appreciate your support.
The company which i work for we've got a sort of Sales Rep mobil. The stock usually is transfer accordingly their sales need by a transfer stock method into SAP and located into their specific storage location. Usually, this stock is often sold or it will be sold within the month. However, into APO demand forecast, this considerable stock "sold" is not yet included as the material was not effective sold, invoiced....
What i would like to know is, if there's any possibility to include stock transfer into Demand figuers onto APO?
Ie: Sales Rep. X / storage location 001
Stock transfer from Central Warhouse of 1 pc.
This one pc, despite be stil located into this Sales rep mobil, basically its sold, and i would like to know the possibility which this 1 pc be considered "sold" into APO. Is that possible? How could i configurated that this would happen? I guess that this is linked into Material Master set for this specific storage location up, am i right?
Well i would appreciate if anybody could adviced me into that scenario.
    Cheers
    CC

    Hi Caio,
In demand forecast, usually this stock consideration is not needed to be taken care into account as it will be net off during supply planning run (SNP).
In case you want to net the stock off at demand planning side, i.e. SNP is not considering this particular stock at all, then the stock data for specific storage location can be pulled into BW (or any other system you are using for transferring data between ECC and SCM). Extract the data to a KF in demand planning and while releasing the demand to SNP, use (Demand - sold stock) KF.

i also have question regarding ex-post method and median method and none
whats the difference between these methods
    Regards
    Raju

    Hi Raju,
Take a look of the SAP documentation. Here you have the detail of what the Auto Model Sel 2 is doing:
Automatic Model Selection Procedure 2 - Univariate Forecasting - SAP Library
Anyway, maybe because I don't understand exactly what the system is doing or maybe because I have found inconsistencies, I would not use the automatic model selection models in APO DP.
Take a look of these articles talking about some inconsistencies:
Getting Best Fit to Work in SAP? - Demand Planning
Best Fit Forecasting in SAP DP - SAP Planning
As you can see in the first article, Auto Model Sel 2 uses to copy the data.
If you are trying to identify the model, take a look of the Sales Pattern, then run different methods, play with the parameters (alpha, beta, gamma) and determined what should be the model and the set of parameters base on the MAPE.
For ex-post method (constant), you can read this article:
APO DP - Forecast Model Parameters: First-Order Exponential Smoothing
Looking at the SAP help documentation you can see the difference between Ex-post and Median methods:
Ex-Post Forecast - Univariate Forecasting - SAP Library
Median Method - Univariate Forecasting - SAP Library

  • Migration from Legacy to APO Demand Planning

    Hi,
Currently Client uses legacy system for Forecasting. The forecasted value from legacy system will be given as input to APO DP for further Planning. Now, Client wants to do Forecasting and Planning in APO DP. That said they want to use the APO DP Forecasting functionality. How it can be handled in terms of.....
    - They want simplified solution for their sales person to enter sales data, which will inturn uploaded into APO DP Planning book,
    - which forecasting technique
    - other settings or configurations or pre-requisites to be considered..
Appreciate your help questions and any additional inputs being migrating from Legacy to APO DP.
    Thanks,
    Sai Ganesh

    Hi
The sales person can upload the sales information in excel file which can be easily upload into APO DP planning book. This sales history can be used as reference for forecasting
Please find enclosed herewith DP technical configuration guide for you. You can check BW part in detail.
    http://help.sap.com/bp_scmv250/index.htm
There are different FCST tech avaiavble in APO DP. Forecast planners can assign different FCST tech based on sales history.  Please find below the more information regarding it.

  • APO Demand Planner

    Hello Experts,
I need your replies for the below requirement.
I need complete list of Cubes,DSO, Master Data used for below requirements
The APO Demand Planner Master and Transactional Data for
Product/Time/Sales/Distribution hierarchies, Sales Order History, Financial / Budgeting info., Shipments History, Promotions History, Selling Price, Production & Transportation Costs.
ineed to prepare the estimate doc.
    regards
    kv

A Demand Planner will have the responsibilities of validating and fine tuning the sales forecast numbers and passing them to the Supply Planners/Production Planners. Once the base forecast is generated by the APO DP forecast models, the demand planners need to keep an eye on those numbers, co-ordinate with the sales & marketing people to make note of any additional sales or deviations and then release those numbers to supply planners (SNP) / Production planners.
They also play a key role in deciding and planning new products launched which do not have earlier sales history, promotion planning and any other 'events' which the system on it's own cannot manage.
Generally, each Demand Planner 'owns' up a group of products (or geographical territory) and has the responsibility of correctly managing the future sales of those products.
    Hope this helps.

  • EANCOM Message for APO planning module

    Hi  ,
Currently we are working on Integration of APO - Planning module with our Business Partner . We have SAP PI in the landscape
APO Planning Messages have to be delivered to the external Partner through  SAP PI as EANCOM message .
If any one has tried this scenario already please let me know which EANCOM message is used in this scenario.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Kavitha

In simple terms APO is mainly used for forecasting. The forecasting is done based on the past sales by the org. This sales from R3 or any other source s/m is fed into APO. In calculating the forecast, org factors such as intrumental or org's factors which contribute to expenditure are added to the APO. With both of these information...APO generates forecast for future which can be for weeks or months or years. This forecast data is fed into BW for comparison with actuals when teh appropriate time comes...meaning when the future date comes...the forecast for that date is compared with  that date's sales. The area where we have both sales and factors i beleive is called the Planning area...
Hope i explained to u what i understood about APO.

  • CRM Middleware with APO

Firstly, I have a new requirement to integrate APO (Baseline forecasts) with CRM (Inbound to CRM), Can this be done with CRM middleware or would I have to utilise CIF or PI?
If the answer is yes to CRM Middleware, can the following be achieved with it?
Due to historic reasons there is a disaggregation of APO CPG baseline to CRM CPA (1:Many relationship) therefore           somesort of intermidiate lookup table would be required as part of the mapping.
Not knowing the CRM Middleware capabilities it would be good to get someones feedback on the above.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Meigh,
Yes, Middleware can be used. Please refer to note  719627  and 1071522 for required settings. Notes 819744
and 892762 might also be of interest.

  • DP IN APO

    Hi guys,
I am planning to do just DP module of APO (or should i
    do all the modules).
how is the market for it. How will it help
a BW consultant in his career.
    Thanks
    Due points will be assigned

    Hi ,
Since APO system itself has all the BW functionalities present in it and only that you need to know extra in DP technically is regarding PLanning Area setup, Forecast Models , Forecasting Cycles, Releasing the data to other Modules of SAP i,e SNP etc
It will be an Add value to BW consultant as he will already has knowledge on Modeling,ETL and Reporting . So getting data to APO for forecasting will not be problem at all . Learning DP you can know about Supply chain Business process throughly...

  • Firming of schedule lines

    Dear All,
We are using scenario where we are planning purchase requisitions in APO and sending them in ECC. In ECC we are converting them in to schedule lines.  Once schedule lines they get firm in ECC and for APO as well. But we want to change them through APO in forecast delivery horizon i.e. outside JIT horizon. JIT horizon would be 4 days and 10 days FRC horizon.
Is it possible to unfix/ un firm schedule lines outside JIT horizon?
Is there any user exit for this??
    Please advice.
