Job notification - Invoking a procedure
We are trying to get job notification email for success/fail. If it is failed we want to get the error details. The default mechanism is not allowing to get the error details.
1.I heared that by using job notifications/notification rules we could invoke a custom procedure. Oracle is giving a object from which we can get all details about the job.
Is it true?
2. Can we able to do this for job?
3. If yes, can we able to get full details in this object? like divided by zero error happend in the called procedure of the job.
Please let us help to find a way. Thanks for your help, I appreciate it.hi
Your problem is that your O.S is windows. In my enviroment i have some JOBS that send me a email if the execution fail, but the mail is sender for the OS and not for GC. This is an example
I create a JOB of OS/COMAND in CG and is a single operation that execute:
/home/scripts/maitenance.sh
The script is executed each day at 1:00 AM
#maitenance.sh
#!/bin/ksh
# maitenance.sh
# enviroment variables
ORACLE_HOME=/oracle/product/10.2.0
ORACLE_SID=PROD
LOG=/home/oracle/log/maitenance.log
export ORACLE_HOME
export ORACLE_SID
#FIRST STEP
#DROP A SCHEMA
$ORACLE_HOME/bin/sqlplus "/ as sysdba" <<__EOF__>> $LOG
WHENEVER SQLERROR EXIT;
DROP USER MYSCHEMA CASCADE;
__EOF__
# Now i test the correct execution and send a mail if
# this have failed
res=$?
if [ $res -eq 0 ]
then
echo "EXECUTION OK" >> $LOG
# now send a mail when the log contents to mailadress
cat $LOG | /usr/bin/mail -s "EXECUTION_OK" [email protected]
else
echo "ERROR IN EXECUTION" >> $LOG
# now send a mail because the execution have failed with the log contents
cat $LOG | /usr/bin/mail -s "EXECUTION FAILED" [email protected]
fi
And for each step of the script i check the result and send a mail with the OK or with the ERROR.
The problem is that i dont know if this is possible in WINDOWS. You need a program that send mails and this must be runing in cmd.
A friend of my company, say me that exist a shell enviroment that his functionality is very similar to linux. His name is cigwin.
Other option more complex is to use the DBMS_ALERTpackage, but only for SQL SCRIPTS jobs

SQL Agent Job Notification - Database Mail problem
Hi
I'm a little stumped. Have setup database mail on SQL Server 2008 (SP1 x64) and its working fine except when its supposed to send out a SQL Agent job notification.
I've enabled database mail on SQL Agent and have specified a profile, but when it tries to send an email on agent job completion it errors with "NOTE: Failed to notify '<operator>' via email."
Can anybody help?
ThanksHi Webdawg,
As suggested above, try these steps.
1. Try test email first, this can be by done (right click on database mail under mangement folder). prior to that you should already have a profile configured to send the emails and make sure you got the right SMTP server and do not block
port 25.
2.If test is succeeds, enable mail option under sql server agent properties and select 'database mail' and corresponding profile.Add the reciepents email to the operators under sql server agent(check the enabled option here). Restart the SQL sever
here.
3. Create your sql job and in the notifcations section you should see email option and should have the operator email you configured above.
Try it out. let us know. Hope it helps.
If the test succeeds and still you did not get the email from sql job, check the database mail log and check whether it is being queued. let us know.
Please mark as 'Answer', if the solution solves your problem. -
SQL Server Job Notifications Disabled
Hi All,
This morning I noticed that my production job notifications are not configured, I used to get the alerts using the same operator before and now suddenly I see all jobs have no notifications set. Is dropping and recreating Jobs remove all Notifications? Also
when I check the operator properties it says Never e-mailed. Where can I see this history if some body did it manually? I have job alerts in my inbox received last week.
SwapnaHello,
No need to worry, everything is fine here.
If a principal is disabled, then it has a red arrow pointing down in the icon, like my "sa" account below. Here you have a red pin icon and this means you can't modify it. Since SQL Server 2014 we can create user defined server role (below "MyUserDefinedServerRole"),
which wasn't possible in SQL Server 2012 and lower version. As you can see in the screenshot below, user defined roles don't have a red pin and can be modified, while predefined server roles do have a pin:

We have Enterprise Manager Database (not Grid) Control. I would like to implement job notification. Is there a way to do this?
Specifically, I have a job that generates a log file. When the job terminates I would like to have the log file emailed to me. It appears that Grid Control lets you set notifications based on changes in job status. Is there any way to do this with Database Control?I am not sure if there is a way using Database Control, but you can using PL/SQL. I have a job the sends an email only if there is an error. My exception handler sends me the oracle error in an email. I got the sample code from the OTN downloads page for PL/SQL. It can handle attachments but I have not tried that yet. I plan on implementing some of my cron jobs into the scheduler after we finish the migration to 10gR2. Currently the cron job emails reports and a log but they are embedded within the email, but an attachment might be better for some.

How do I stop automatic emails confirming ePrint has received the job notification and is printing?
There is another possible solution... If you go to ePrintCenter and click on ePrint Settings... if "Everyone" is selected under "Allowed Senders," then there's no way to turn off notifications. However, if you select "Allowed Senders Only," then you have the option to select whether each e-mail address receives notifications. Of course, this is only realistic if you wish to restrict who can use ePrint with your printer. I agree that a better solution would be to allow users to turn off ALL e-mail notifications...

APO jobs cancelled due to error- Time limit Exceed.
Dear All,
Three jobs are scheduled daily to transfer data from R/3 to APO,
These are cancelled due to error -"Time limit exceed".Hi Pankaj,
There is a specific time allocated for each queue to clear and to get transferred across the system. the probable reasons are.
1. The queue itself is taking more than the allocated time to clear due to system load. Each queue requires specific free memory from server , in case of overload system is unable to allocate desired memory hence the error might appear.
2. If in a queue the very first entry is stuck due to x,y,z reason the queues following automatically go into "timeout" and then "system fail"
Proposed solution.
1. Analyze the first entry functionally. If Ok then ask the basis team to clear that particular entry.
2. after time out the queue will go to "SYSFAIL". Double clicking on this will reveal the reason. Based on the technical reason I can suggest the relevant OSS notes to be applied.
For detailed technical analysis check t-code CFG1.

Ankur

Database Jobs Notifications do now work
I created a new rule in Grid Control 10.2 to notify me when my RDBMS jobs fail.
I set the rule to notify me if the status meets any of the following conditions:
Scheduled, Started, Suspended, Succeeded, Problem.
My e-mail notifications seem to work fine on any of the canned OS alerts but not on this custom notification rule I set up. I want to be nofified by e-mail when any of my database jobs change status or specifically fail.
EM Test e-mail message tests sucessfully.
Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated. No replies from the field as of yet. I am finding there is a difference on how Oracle handles Scheduler Jobs and Jobs in the Jobs Activity page in Grid. My custom notification rule is working for the Jobs listed in the Jobs Activity Page. I am now trying to figure out how to make the rule work against the jobs listed in the scheduler jobs table under jobs under database administration in Grid Control.

" Send Masterdata Changes to APO" Job failure
Hi All,
We are facing issues where there are changes in Material Description in R/3 and those changes were reverted again.
When these changes were sent to APO through background job, the job due to stuck queue. it shows the error "The ABAP/4 Open SQL array insert results in duplic ate database records.".We deleted the queue and rerun the job.
This is happening everyday.
Can you tell me what can we do to avoid queue failures?
Regards,
DenishDenish
The same material should not be part of more than one active material integration model. I hope you have just one active material integration model.
The other thing is if the total number of materials in the active material IM is very less , then you can try deactivating and reactivating the model. But it is not a good idea to do it if you have a huge volume of materials in the IM. Also try this in the test system , test thoroughly and then do it in production system
Thanks

Reg Background Job Notifications
Hi,
I wanna add a user email id for background job failure notifications. How do I do that.
Thanks
NMHi,
You can create a Custom program, which will pick the Jobs which have failed and then send the information through EMAIL.
Check the following link.

Print job notification gone awry
Here's a weird one I experienced today --
Set up a new print queue, with P, PS and Q objects, all
works great. Users print, everybody happy. All except
one user, who for some reason doesn't receive their notification
that their print job has printed, like everybody else.
However, a user in another part of the campus calls me
up, tells me he's getting messages on his screen, something
about a print job.
You know what's coming, right?
For some reason, User B was getting the notifications for
the print jobs that User A was printing.
They were both logged into the network with different
usernames and passwords. They were not logged into
each others machines. User B doesn't even have that
printer installed on their machine.
So, how does a print job notify end up on the screen
of completely the wrong person?
For now, I've unticked the 'Notify' option within the
printer settings on the workstation of User A, and the
notification messages have stopped appearing for User B.
Bizarre!

Dang you, making me think back... I ran into this about 3 years ago, and
the end result, IIRC, was deleting both users & recreating. Never found
out the cause, just got so dang mad I went that route...
*shrug* Unless someone else comes up with a better idea, 'cause if
DSREPAIR & such comes back clean, no clue.

Add Email Job Notification via SQL Developer
Hello,
I'm a novice in the Oracle Scheduler space and I have what is likely a novice question. However, I'm thoroughly turned around after searching and would gladly welcome some help.
I'm using SQLdeveloper to utilize Oracle Scheduler within my schema.
A procedure has been successfully created. The job which executes the procedure is also successfully configured.
Next I'd like to configure email notification for certain events.
I've found a number of posts regarding the ADD_JOB_EMAIL_NOTIFICATION procedure.
I.e., http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E11882_01/appdev.112/e25788/d_sched.htm#ARPLS72277
However, I'm having trouble identifying how to get started implementing this within SQL Developer.
Can someone please help with how the ADD_JOB_EMAIL_NOTIFICATION can be implemented within SQL developer?
Another point I want to mention: in a previous prototype, I found a wizard to configure the email notification. I'm not seeing that now. Is there a wizard with SQL Developer in which this information can be configured?
Extremely grateful for any help you can provide.
Thanks - FritzThank you for your response.
I'm entering that block into a SQL worksheet and it has now been accepted. I was mis-interpreting an error message which was thrown in my earlier attempts. Looks like the name of my job was problematic. I've renamed that and the add job email notification block is now being completed.
Thanks much for your help.
Also I've tried using the get_scheduler_attribute to see if an email server is already configured. However, I'm not using this correctly either. Only these attributes can be viewed through get scheduler attribute.
Scheduler Attribute
Description
default_timezone
Default time zone used by the Scheduler for repeat intervals and windows
log_history
Retention period in days for job and window logs
max_job_slave_processes
Maximum number of job slave processes that the Scheduler can start. May be NULL.
current_open_window
Name of the currently open window
event_expiry_time
Time in seconds before an event generated by the Scheduler and enqueued onto the Scheduler event queue expires. May be NULL.
Any suggestions of how to view which notifications are configured for a job?
Thanks again! Fritz -
Job Notification Not Heading Selected Statuses
Anybody else having a problem with notifications going out for the incorrect status?
We've set up a rule for any job name, i.e. %, for job type of "RMAN Script" and for Job Owner of "All Owners." For Job status, we have only selected Suspended and Failed. However, we get a whole bunch of "Succeeded" emails every morning.
Has anyone else seen this behavior? Any idea how to get it to send for only the selected statuses?
Thanks,
-JoeThis appears to be a bug. It is 100% reproducible.
I think I found the table in the SYSMAN repository that stores this information. It is MGMT_NOTIFY_JOB_RULE_CONFIGS. In that table, there are "binary" columns that indicate which statuses are selected. I can not post an image to the forum but, trust me, only Suspended and Failed are selected. No notification is selected on the jobs themselves.
However, when I look in the table for this notification rule, I see that the WANT_JOB_SUCCEEDED column is set to 1 but, WANT_JOB_SUSPENDED is set to 0. This, of course, is wrong. Nonetheless, the GUI continues to show Suspended and Failed as selected.
I know you're never supossed to change the repository directly but, it seemd like a simple test and something I could change back if it didn't work. Therefore, I change the table to have to correct column values. This stopped us from receiving the success messages. It is working for suspended now as it should. The GUI, however; now shows the selected status as Succeeded and Failed.

Send to Multiple email addresses using the job notification package
I'm trying to send notifications to mulitple addresses, and have not been successful in creating the right syntax, I've tried:
exec add_job_email_notification('J1','[email protected];[email protected]','JOB_FAILED');
and other combinations. What is the trick to send to more the one address?Hi,
As the documentation says, recipient_address may be a comma-separated list of e-mail addresses. So you should be using commas to separate you addresses e.g.
'[email protected],[email protected]'
Hope this helps,
Ravi. -
