APO Reports

Experts,
The way we have a std transaction that will list all the reports in a specific module in ECC, is there a similar way/place in APO that I could/look do the same? Are there canned reports in APO as such? I'm looking for reports in APO that will -
1. Show me the lateness of receipts vis-a-vis the demand
2. Pegging relationship all thru to the lowest levels
& more.
Thanks

Andy,
I am not aware of an area menu in SCM similar to the  'SAP1' area menu found in ERP.
For item 1, I will assume you are talking about PP/DS.  Just about anything you would find in an ERP MRP exception message, and more, can be duplicated in the Alert monitor in SCM.  You can set these alerts up in /SAPAPO/AMON_SETTING.  Some standard alerts that might meet your requirement are
Product too late (fixed pegging)
Receipt due date/time violated (fixed pegging)
Product too late (dynamic pegging)
Receipt due date/time violated (dynamic pegging)

  • BW APO Reports

    Hi,
I have to present reporting session to a client on APO BW Reporting I know we dont have outof the box APO reports like R/3 in BI  Content.
My question is more on functional area. What are the possible reports can be build in BW from Demand Planning,SNP(Capable to Match and Safety stock).I need to know list of few if possible for my presentation.
    Thanks in Advance.
    @AK

    Hi Ashok,
As long as you are taking a back up of your DP and SNP planning area, you can create any report that is required for your client. Please check with your BW counter part and check with him data of what key figures is being taken as a back up of your planning area.
You may even create a multiprovider which based on DP and SNP cubes and pick data from DP and SNP cubes simultaneoulsy in one single report.
I am afraid I will not be able to guide on the exact reports that can be built since it is completelt depedent upon the client's requirement. However off hand, you can build reports like forecast accuracy reports (DP), projected available stock report etc
I hope this is of some help else if you are looking at some specific requirement then let us know, we can take it from there.

  • APO reporting - Best practice

    Hi,
I am looking for information regarding best practice and business content for APO reporting (especially within demand planning)in SAP BI. I have found some business content on help.sap.com but it is for example only 2 queries and the project I am working on definitely needs more but they still want to stick to standard/best practices.
Anyone who can help me or have any ideas?
    regards,

    Hi,
there are 4 data sources for PP/DS:

  • Help required on APO report

Hi.. I m developing an APO object for the first time. It's a Report.
Please explain me the logic... it's an APO development.
First answer a few questions of mine, before getting into the logic.
    1. how do we fetch data from APO database? Using normal SELECT query, or.. ?? Please give an example.
    2. what does " Characteristic ‘ZTIL’ for MPOS ‘ZB_TRL’ STRUCTURE: /BIC/VZB_TRL2 " mean?? It's given in the Source System Table column of Func. Spec., from where I have to Select the field ZTIL.
    3. Can u give me a comparison of normal R/3 dbase, and the APO database? And, in what fashion the data is stored.
    4. Please give me useful links that will help me in APO development.
To explain you a bit about the Data Element Cross Reference section of the report..
There are 2 tables given for each field, one related to RL and other related to TC planning area, except those fields whose Source Table is " Characteristic ‘ZTIL’ for MPOS ‘ZB_TRL’ STRUCTURE: /BIC/VZB_TRL2 ". So, the Data Element Cross Reference section is a combination of fields that come from 2 tables each & and fields that come from " Characteristic ‘ZTIL’ for MPOS ‘ZB_TRL’ STRUCTURE: /BIC/VZB_TRL2 ".
Q: Can u tell me why 2 tables are given for a single field?
Q: How do we work with a single field from 2 tables?
Now, coming to the logic of the development..
Logic required wherein IDENTICAL Material numbers in both RL / TC planning areas are flagged as exceptions.
The logic has to be written for a field, which comes from two source tables. In the output of the report, this field should show 'RL' if it comes from the table related to RL planning area, and should show 'TC', if it comes from the TC planning area table. Now, we have MATNR in " Characteristic ‘ZMT’ for MPOS ‘ZB_TRL’ STRUCTURE: /BIC/VZB_TRL2 ". So, what logic should be applied so that it shows identical MATNRs in RL and TC rows, in output??
    Thanks a lot in advance.

Thanks so much for replying to my Query, Priya...
The functional Consultant is saying that MPOS is not a table, also, the terms which I had referred to as TABLES in my post, are not tables, it seems. These are Live Cache data, he says.
Do you have any idea what Live Cache is, and how to deal with it(access data from it)?
When I searched for Live Cache access related info today. I found out that, to read data from Live Cache, you need to use SAP delivered Standard BAPIs. Please share some knowledge about it.
Priya, it would be good if you could give me your Yahoo Chat ID, as I m badly in need of help. I will be online 9 - 6 PM, India Standard Time. My Yahoo ID is puerto_rico_thug555
    Thanks again..

  • UOM is not converting in APO reports(Remote Cube-Bex)

    Hi Guru's
I am using SCM5.0 with BI7 and i have created the reports (Bex)in DP with remote cube.
Here i am unable to get the option to convert the units from ton - kg - pc.
System by default taking the ton from PA, But i need to convert this into kg/ pc in my report.
Note: I have maintained conversation in master data(product).
I think i have missed some settings in Q-Designer/ Cube settings?????
Please help me experts in this regards.
    Great thanks for your help!!!!
    Regards,
    Santosh

    Hi,
Edit the Infosource based on your PA:
    1. Add new KF to Communication structure - let's say QUANT_PC
    2. In transfer rules for new KF choose "Routine". In ABAP code read the conversion factor from master data and calculate the quantity in PC. Assign to RESULT.
    3. Activate
Now you can add new KF to your remote cube and new KF will be accessible in BEx reports.

  • APO BI for reporting , back up insted of saperate BI for DP,SNP &PPDS

    Hi Guru,
We are implementing DP, SNP & PPDS and we dont have saperate BI system.
    Please i need information
    1. Can i use APO BI for pulling history data, Back up and also for reporting for all APO reports.
    2. I wanted to know what are the implecations we are going to get when we go-live with all this critical Modules with APO BI for all reports.
    Please let me know
    Tha

    Hi ,
You can ceratinly use APO BI component for your reporting needs.
Normally data reporting is recommended in another BI system, because that system is expected to be hub of reporting and all the necessary data is gathererd therein for analysis and reporting purposes.
BI system may require data inputs from a number of systems and it will affect APO applciations performance  , if we try to do all the reporting in APO.
With appropriate hardware sizing of the APO  system, desired optimum performance can be mainatained for the  APO applciations.
Since APO BI is like normal BI, appropriate sizing can be done through a BI consultant for reporting needs.
For  many of our projects, we used to back up exclusively in APO BI. However , reporting was in centralized BI system.

after executing this procedure you get the order details,
which also contains the details for the orderid & suborderid, now since I cannot go into the debugger mode for this stored procedure Iam unable to know where does this orderid & suborderid fields get populated from.
Please help me ASAP as I would like to use this fields in my logic of program.
    Thanks in Advance.

    Hi Amole,
Thanks for your reply, but I wanted to know which is the transparent table from which this stored procedure is getting the values for the orderid & suborderid.

  • How to read an APO table from excel in place using Visual Basic ?

We have enhanced some APO reports using layouts that use excel in place with custom visual basic (VB) code. For example, the VB code can append the data with additional columns that perform specific calculations and then proceed to create pivot table reports in excel..That is working fine.
The challenge is to see if that VB code could read specific APO tables (e.g. product master tables) to bring additional elements into excel and thus expand the report content. We know that additional fields can be added to the reports, but having the flexibility to read tables from VB could be more flexible.
Can that be done?. If so, would it be possible using exclusively the VB code attached to the layout, i.e. no ABAP?

    Hello Anselmo,
I am assuming you are doing this either using BeX analyzer or by reading the planning book using the RFC ActiveX component and a BAPI.
I think it's possible to retrieve the data from the product master table. Here are my thoughts on how can this be done:
    1) You can create a generic datasource (transaction RSO2) for the product master table, connect that to a BW remotecube and use a BeX query to retrieve that values. You can then join the queries using VBA. Alternatively, you can build a muti-provider that connects your current InfoCube to the new RemoteCube and build a query from there. The multi-provider, in this case, joins the data (no more VBA).
    2) If you have already loaded your product master data into master data carrying InfoObjects then you can try the same technique as #1 but this time there is no need to create the generic datasource. You can use the InfoObjects for your master data as the InfoProviders for your query.
    3) You can try the ActiveX component from SAP which can  connect to any emote enabled function in SAP system. SAP already provided some BAPIs (check transaction BAPI for a list) which might be able to provide the data. You can also create your own function modules (be sure to make it remote enabled) using ABAP. (transaction SE37).
    Hope this helps

  • Unable to Open Bex report from SAP APO User Menu

    Hi All,
I am an  SAP APO consultant, and have not miuch expereice in BEx reporting. As APO uses Build in BI for reporting and pulling history from either external BW or R/3.
Now my issue all BEx reports we use are assigned ot my user menu and when I select a report, I would expect report to open but an excel sheet opens and closes and nothing happens. However I am able to open this reports from my desktop menu selecting Business explorer and Analyzer and linking my SAP system. I use Excel 2007 , Is this some compactibilty issue or is there anything I need to do?

    Hi KV,
There's a couple of possible root cause why you dont see properly the Bex Report.
Can you share to me the APO version and the BW software component being used?
In case this is still in the 3.x, 4.x APO, I think, a separate BW add on is needed for you to run your BEx report properly. You can ask your basis team for this separate installation.
Btw, is this report working before, meaning was it pulled successfully already in the past?
Can you try doing this again in a separate workstation, as the BW add on is installed separately per workstation.
Its possible that this is also an auth issue that the user you are using is not capable enough to run BEx.
As of now, I have not encountered any Bex issue that is related with the Excel version, I have tried running Bex in Excel 2007 no issue also. I think it maybe more related with the OS you are using, if its in Vista already what I know is you need to add your excel as a trusted document before you can run bex fro Vista.
Let me think of other possibilities.
    Hope this helps.

  • BO reporting from SAP-APO

    Hi ,
Is it possible to call a BO report from SAP screen? e.g. SAP-APO Demand planning Grid ?
Can we pass selections from SAP screen to BO and get the report based on the screen contents.....
    Regards
    Aniruddha

    Thanks,
I tested Edge Standard and it only supports one integration kit at a time. I can either install EBS or SAP. Installation of one removes the entry of previously installed integration kit. So installing EBS on SAP integration kit removes SAP entry from CMS and offers EBS instead, similarly, installing SAP on EBS removes EBS entry from CMS and offers SAP authentication instead.
    Thanks for the help.

  • Best practices for loading apo planning book data to cube for reporting

    Hi,
I would like to know whether there are any Best practices for loading apo planning book data to cube for reporting.
I have seen 2 types of Design:
    1) The Planning Book Extractor data is Loaded first to the APO BW system within a Cube, and then get transferred to the Actual BW system. Reports are run from the Actual BW system cube.
    2) The Planning Book Extractor data is loaded directly to a cube within the Actual BW system.
We do these data loads during evening hours once in a day.
    Rgds
    Gk

    Hi GK,
What I have normally seen is:
    1) Data would be extracted from APO Planning Area to APO Cube (FOR BACKUP purpose). Weekly or monthly, depending on how much data change you expect, or how critical it is for business. Backups are mostly monthly for DP.
    2) Data extracted from APO planning area directly to DSO of staging layer in BW, and then to BW cubes, for reporting.
    For DP monthly, SNP daily
You can also use the option 1 that you mentioned below. In this case, the APO cube is the backup cube, while the BW cube is the one that you could use for reporting, and this BW cube gets data from APO cube.
Benefit in this case is that we have to extract data from Planning Area only once. So, planning area is available for jobs/users for more time. However, backup and reporting extraction are getting mixed in this case, so issues in the flow could impact both the backup and the reporting. We have used this scenario recently, and yet to see the full impact.
    Thanks - Pawan

  • APO and BW Reporting

I have a requirement to report from APO, I would request if someone can post documentation related to that.
I would also like to know how it is different from usual BW reporting.
    Thanks for help in advance.

    Hi BK
Basiclly you need to create the data flow required from the APO planning area data sources.
For realtime reporting on planning areas the best practise is to create remote cube on APO planning area datasources

  • BW reporting from APO live cache

It has been 4 years since I have worked on a BW/APO project.  Back then, I know that in APO you could backup live cache and then use the backup as the datasource for reporting in BW.  Is this still the same or can you go directly against live cache now.
    Thanks,
    Dean

    Hi Somnath,
Can you pl. give me the reference where running reports from internal APO-BW directly is recommended by SAP?
We have a similar situation with our client. It is possible to do reporting from APO cubes directly, but we are not sure since I found this in once of the SAP presentations
SAP recommends for customer to prepare separate systems for APO and BW.
    Reasons
The APO system will be tuned for optimal APO functionality performance such as calculating forecasts in demand planning or deriving ATP values
The BW system will be tuned for optimal query performance in order to return results in a timely fashion.
