APO SNP macro working at a product level (across locations)

I am using APO V5.1.
I have a macro requirement where I want to perform calculations at a product level (ie for a given product, look across all relevant locations).
I can do this interactively by selecting a product.
But in a background job I can only select the 9AMALO level of aggregation.
Does anyone know how I could get round this?...

Hi,
Could you please give some more details of your exact requirement?
Since you mentioned about 9AMALO, I would assume that you want something to be done in SNP, but it's not clear what you could do in interactive SNP which you are not able to achieve in background job.
If something is possible in foreground, most likely it would be available in background as well, and we can give you the solution after you give some more details.
Thanks - Pawan

• Forecast Consumption in SNP for Make-to-Order products

We are working on using APO-SNP for Make-to-order products (PlngStrategyGroup = "81" in R/3). We want to achieve normal forecast consumptino on FinishedGoodLevel and generate PlndOrders which shall derive component demand for purchasing (such PlndOrers wont be released to production - they should only function as demand driven on component level)
What we have done so far: Forecast in APO-DP on Finished good level exists and has been released to SNP. The product gets "ciffed" from R/3 into APO material master with planning strategy group "20" (which is basically "make-to-stock") --> we were hoping this would allow us to use "normal" forecast consumption but nothing happens (FCST is not being consumpted by open Sales orders). Within the product view of such products APO is still "realizing" that this is a make-to-order product.
Any other ideas / thoughts what could be done to achieve "normal" forecast consumption on FGI level for make-to-order products in APO-SNP ?
Tks !

I checked in /n/SAPAPO/RRP3 (Product View), unfortunately only FC exists there
Seems that the open Sales Orders from R/3 are being created within another segment (the "element" Tab of RRP3 shows 2 segments:
1) "Make-to-stock" (which contains the FC)
2) "Make-to-order" (which contains the Sales Orders)
That might explain the issue I see (FC and SOs are in different planning segment --> no consumption). Reading about planning segments in the help sounds like I need to find a way to bring Sales Orders for Make-to-Order products into the Make-to-stock segment ... jus a thought .. any idea how to do this ? Does that mean I need to modify the CIF for Sales Order transfer for Make-to-order products ?
Tks

• APO SNP capacity levelling heuristic

I am using APO V5 SNP.
I have a question about SNP capacity levelling heuristic.
As I understand it, the heuristic works on a resource by resource basis and will aim to capacity level across time buckets.
But suppose I have a product which has two different sources of supply (PDS/PPM) using different resources X and Y.
Suppose the capacity using resource X is overloaded for week n, but resource Y is not overloaded.
Can the levelling heuristic be used to move capacity from resource X to resource Y for week n, or would this have to be done manually via changing the PDS/PPM?
Thanks,
Bob Austin, Atos Origin

Bob,
You can move the load from X to Y if Y is an alternative resource to X. This can be accomplished by going to the capacity levelling button and then in the options check the box for 'Consider Alternate Resources'. After that you can mention muliple alternate resources also to be considered.
Hope this helps.

Abhi

• Functionality of APO SNP capacity levelling

I am using APO V5.1 SNP capacity levelling.
When capacity levelling runs on a given resource and tries to move planned orders, does it respect the relevant lot size parameters defined for a product?
Thanks for any advice on this...

Hi,
In APO SNP , Capacity leveling takes into account lot size data that is defined in the master data(Product Master) with following restrictions:
It takes into account fixed lot sizes, maximum lot sizes, and minimum lot sizes.
However, the system does NOT considet period lot sizes or lot sizes from PPMs/PDS.
Further to the above, the capacity leveling method that you choose controls the way in which the system takes into account lot sizes.
If we choose heuristic-based capacity leveling, the system uses the same rules as for the SNP heuristic when taking lot sizes into account; and
if we choose optimization-based capacity leveling, the system uses the same rules as for the SNP optimizer.
Hope this gives you insight.

• SNP Macro - unexplained

Dear Experts,
I have created a simple macro to copy forecast KF into another order series KF in SNP.
However, I am finding that the values are not being copied during direct execution. Though the macro works fine as default macro and for a TS KF.
Also, the behavious is different for VMI promotion KF than any other order series KF.
Any suggestions?
I am working in SCM 7.0
Thanks and Regards,

Thanks Pawan,
I have a demand components (shelf life) which is calculated in planning book TS key figure and also safety stock which has two different method SZ and MB for the same product at different Invoicing locations with safety days of supply also varying.
I need to aggregate them. I can create order KF but since the computation is based out of macro in PB, they will not get aggregated.
Any inputs?
Thanks

• Syntax for CASE / WHEN in SNP Macros.

Dear APO Gurus,
I'm having problems using CASE when in SNP macros, even though I've tried quite a few syntaxes.
could someone please tell me how to Use CASE WHEN (WHEN WHEN WHEN...) ENDCASE in macros ? this would save me an awful lot of IF
Thanks in advance,
Hugues

Hi,
you can import an example macro to see how the CASE usage works. In order to do so, perform the following.
1.) Enter Makro Builder and enter your new macro book
2.) In the Menu, choose "Edit" -> "Import macros"
3.) Choose "SAP Example and template macros" as reference book
4.) use "Using the Case statement" as reference macro.
This will import the example macro which you can take as reference.
Best regards

• SAP APO SNP planned order

Hi,
I am basically from PP background and just started working in APO SNP. after running SNP optimzer, not able to see the operation details in SNP planned order ( SNP planned order has only receipts, requirements ). could you please help me how to get operation details in SNP planned order.
Thanks
Krishna.

Hi,
SNP Planned Order:
1 . SNP Planned Orders wil give details about Order start date and finish date .
2. During SNP Planned Order creation a basic scheduling will happen.
PPDS Planned Order
1. PPDS Planned Orders will give details about when the actual production is start and finish.
2. During PPDS Planned creation the Machine time details defined in the routing routing or recepie will be take into account.
3. Leadtime scheduling will be carried out to calculate the exact production start date and finish date.
Thanks,

• Contracts assigned to APO SNP purchase reqs

I am using APO SNP release 7.
I have a product for which a purchasing contract has been CIF'ed to APO and which is referenced on the transport lane from the vendor to the plant.
If I run a heuristic plan in SNP to generate purchase reqs for the product, will the contract be actually assigned to the purchase req in APO, or will the assignment of the contract actually take place when the purchase req is in ECC (having been passed from APO)?
Thanks for any advice on this...

HI,
When you CIF contract to APO , the external procurement relationships get created for the same in APO which in turn result in creation of TLanes(From Vendor to Plant)
On running Heuristic, the TLanes are picked up from APO itself. It is not that purchase req gets created in APO and when CIFF'ing back to R/3 , it picks the tlane rel data from the contract
For confirmation you may want to test this by ensuring that the Pur req does not get trasferred to ECC(U have an option saying, DO NOT TRANSFER RESULTS, use this). Please test it in TEST System
Thanks,
SS

• How to have a production level subscription trigger a copy response (Asset)

I am trying to have a production level metadata value trigger a copy response to all the Assets in a specific production folder. I tried having a match up between a production level field value and a asset level field value and it does not appear to work.
Any suggestions?
I would imagine others would find this valuable?
I deal with world productions, I need to be able to pass assets to different regions via a copy response to a FTP device.
Thanks in advance.

Hi there,
I think I would add a metadata field on the production level (as an admin) named something like "copy production including related assets to" and then add a popup with a choice of something like "siteA, siteB,…".
You could then add a response which finds related assets and copies them over to the server of choice.
I am going to publish a little paper on archiving and backing up Final Cut Server / Xsan systems with Archiware PresSTORE within the next days, which describes a part of this workflow, too.
But if you need somebody to implement the whole thing, I guess Nicholas is the right person to help you doing this.

• How we define Supplier constraints in SAP APO SNP?

Hi
Customer is trading company and SNP optimizer is configured for sourcing optimization,Following are queries
How we can define Supplier constraints? Supplier constraints meaning Supplier is capable of supplying 5000MT how we model this and Minimum purchase need to happen from certain suppliers of quantity 2000MT,basically Quantity constraints need to be built in SAP APO SNP.
expecting some valuable inputs
Thanks
Poorna

Hi Poorna,
Please follow below steps to delete Product-Location combinations in APO:
1. In ECC, deactivate Integration model for Transaction data and master data of the Products and locations to be deleted from APO.
2. Check where used list from transaction WUF and delete dependent transaction data and Master data from APO. You may use /sapapo/rlcdelete and /sapapo/sdorder_del.
Also delete dependent Master data objects like CVC, PPM, Transportation lane, PDS etc. from APO
Ensure deletion of transaction data in all existing versions in the 000 Model.
3. Set the deletion flag for Product / Product-Location combination using transaction /sapapo/mat1
4. Once the transaction data & related master data is deleted and deletion flag is set, it is possible to delete the location-products by running the report /sapapo/delete_products
To delete Locations from APO:
Follow same steps as above. In cases of deletion of Locations, all products in that location should be deleted using the Product-Location deletion flag optionJust change the report in step 4. For locations, use report /sapapo/delete_locations
To answer your other question on change in location type, I think it is not possible to change once you CIF location master to APO.

Ravi

• Use of ECC planningtime fence when planning with APO SNP

I am using SAP ECC for execution, and SAP APO SNP heuristics for planning.
So, for a product planned in APO, the MRP type in ECC is X0.
So, as there is no MRP planning in ECC for such a product, what is the use of the ECC planning time fence? I think it becomes redundant in ECC - yes? In fact, I do not see it in the stock reqs list (MD04).
So, in ECC, all that 'planners' can do is to manually reschedule planned/production orders - yes?
Any shortage alerts will only be visible in APO - yes?
Thanks for any advice on this...

Hi
Please find below the answers from my side.
Two questions in my mind...
So, if MRP type = X0 in ECC, the planning time fence is not seen in MD04.
First of all, we should not have any planning time fence in ECC, as it is not adding any value for products with MRP type X0. Yes in MD04 we can not see it.
2. How can ECC users easily distinguish between planned orders which are in the 'short term' from those which are beyond the SNP production horizon?
I think they have to use APO alerts. I think that should be right approach as APO is leading planning tool.
Thanks
Amol

• Reorder Point Methods - Context: APO SNP Heuristic

Hi all,
I need to prepare a little summary of lot sizing options for a customer. I spent some time on help.sap.com and on the application help trying to find a clear explanation of the various reorder point methods (numbered from 1 to 6), but I couldn't get clear one-sentence explanations of these 6 sub-methods.
Can somebody help me?
Regards,
Jean-Louis

I have to precise that the framework of my question is SNP heuristics. Reorder Point is also a concept used in PP/DS, and sometimes in my opinion one can easily be confused reading the on-line help with which statement is relevant for SNP Heuristics v which statement refers to PP/DS.
Having said that, here is my current understanding of the reorder point methods in the framework of SNP heuristics:
1 - “Reorder stock based on location product master”
The reorder point is read from the location product master (lot size tab, field reorder point)
The reorder point represents a threshold value for available stock on hand, which stock should not fall below in the planning.
2 - “Reorder supply based on location product master “
The field “Reorder Days’ Supply” is used
The system reorders according to what is missing to cover the demand over the specified number of days, considering the stock on hand and the planned receipts.
3 - Maximum from MB and MR from location product master
Both the “Reorder Point” and the “Reorder Days’ Supply” fields are used
The “Reorder Day’s Supply” logic is used, but additionally the stock cannot fall below the “Reorder Point”
4 - Reorder Point (time-dependent maintenance)
Same as “1”, however the reorder point is read from a KF rather than from master data
Additionally the “Max Stock Level” field is used
5 - “Reporting Day’s Supply (time-dependent maintenance)”
Same as “2”, however the reorder days' supply is read from a KF rather than from master data
Additionally the “Max Stock Level” field is used
6 - “Maximum from MB and MB (time-dependent maintenance)
Same as “3”, however the reorder point and the reorder days’ supply are read from KFs rather than from master data
Additionally the “Max Stock Level” field is used
Please comment if what's above is correct. And thanks to all contributors.

• Re: Implementing Of SAP-APO-SNP

Dear All,
Is it possible to implement APO-SNP alone along with SAP ECC.
If yes,Can I be advice upon any particular aspect to keep in mind before advicing this furhter to my client.
Regards,
Vivek

Thanks for the information..
I have one more thing.
I am exploring the SNP because the client is looking to optimise their logistics cost. As I understand that In SNP the transportation lanes feature can cater to this need. My only point here is that I want to use APO for the Deployment side & not for the production side..That means I would be using the system MRP result for carrying out the production execution & will not be using SNP here but for mpving the stocks between the network I am intending to use the SNP Deployment feature.
Please advice me whether this is a right approach from cost implications perspective.
Regards,
Vivek
