Apogee Duet Firewire doesn't work in 10.8.4

Help!
I use Maestro 2 (2.5.57)
downloads drivers from http://apogeedigital.com/company/support.php
Mac OS 10.8.4
Previously, I had no problems with the work Duet
Look please my video with my computer with this problem - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eZ99R3Yhy6A

If it is okay after doing macjack's suggestion, try the Safe Mode.
Shut down the computer and then power it back up. Immediately after hearing the startup chime, hold down the shift key and continue to hold it until the gray Apple icon and a progress bar appear. The boot up is significantly slower than normal. This will reset some caches, forces a directory check, and disables all startup and login items, among other things. If the system operates normally, there may be 3rd party applications which are causing a problem. Try deleting/disabling the third party applications after a restart. For each disable/delete, you will need to restart if you don't do them all at once.

  • Apogee Duet FireWire skipping/stuttering audio

I've bought Apogee Duet FireWire back in 2011 when I had another macbook pro and I believe it was OS X Lion powered. The problem started since I updated to Mountain Lion and next upgrades were the same. There was a time when it was not very clean if the drivers at the official apogee's site are fresh enough. But now I have OS X Yosemite and fresh drivers that claim to be for this system. As to hardware, since Apogee had only FW400 wire, later I bought FW800 wire, and then FW800<->ThunderBolt adapter. So now I use this connection: Duet -> FW400/FW800 wire -> FW800/ThunderBolt adaptor -> MacBook Pro. The audio is working normal in 80% of time, but otherwise there are stutterings of the sound. Is there a way to get rid of this problem? Thank you.

I just started having problems with my Duet this afternoon and found this thread so I thought I'd give a shout out to you guys to see if you have any ideas before talking with the company....
I've had my Apogee Duet since about feb and never had any problems until this afternoon. For some reason the Duet doesn't seem to want to interface with my computer at all anymore. When plugged in, the lights light up on the Duet however under system profiler I get the "unable to list firewire devices" error msg. Under the Sound tab in preferences, the Duet is not listed as an available I/O. In the Apple Midi Setup or whatever it's called in utilities, the icon for the Duet is still there but it doesn't show it as online. I can still press the big button and the little green light cycles through input 1/input 2 yada yada yada, but the computer doesn't seem to see it. When I open up Maestro, both the control and mixer screens are completely blank. I've tried resetting the unit (holding button down for 5 seconds), using different firewire cords, and finally uninstalling and reinstalling the Maestro software (using the Duet software - May 2008 link on apogees site) and none of these things solve the problem. I haven't had a chance to plug in another FW400 device into my Macbook Pro to see if it's a problem with the port, but I get the same result with the Duet on my MBP and my G5 PPC tower, which leads me to believe it's a problem with the unit. Also, since it's bus-powered, the lights wouldn't light up if the ports on the computer were fried, right?? Has this happened to anyone else?? Any ideas on how to fix it before calling up Apogee?? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

  • OSX Mavericks core audio Apogee Duet firewire

    Hi guys,
I've read a lot of posts with core audio problems, with int/ext sound card, USB, firewire etc etc.
So I've been testing my Apogee Duet firewire with the latest updated driver and 10.9.4 Mavericks.
With Console open I just waited for the dropouts/stutter/clicking famous problems.
It happened whit a Youtube video and a song on SoundCloud.
This is a screenshot of what happened during the dropouts and clicks. As you can see many times per second. Like the noise you hear.
I hope that someone read this discussion. I don't know how to send this to Apple. Maybe they can solve finally this system bug.

Unfortunately the same problems here with Edirol FA-101 and 10.9.4 :-(
There were some promises from Apple that it will be fixed from v. 10.9.3, but still nothing...
In my information the problem is with the Fusion drive - but c'mon, it is Apple developed system, for what we paid quite much in extra to be implemented in the system... (and to be fair, it does work well in speeding up the Mac)
I also hope it will be fixed soon!
    Bests, g

  • BootCamp + Windows 7+ Firewire  Doesn't works

Hello I'm trying to connect an external HardDrive using the firewire in Windows 7, using macos it works fine using both USB and Firewire, but in Windows 7 I can only use it with the USB, the firewire doesn't works, I plug it and it doesn't runs, it does nothing.
I'm using the first model of MacBookPro 13" with Windows7 Pro 64bits.

Apparently you did not read the Bootcamp Install and help manuals. There is no Windows Support Software download for Snow Leopard. The Windows Support Software (drivers) for Windows in Snow Leopard are located on your Snow Leopard Install Disk.

  • Firewire doesn't work.

    Hi,
My macbook pro firewire doesn't not work anymore.
I try all the way (reset the SMC and RAM also) but it stil can not work.
My HDD is Lacie, it's worked with iMac and used to worked with MP.
Any idea to help me fix this problem, please?
    Thank you!

    janieshin,
so I take it that your Lacie HDD is an external FireWire disk? You’ve noted that at some past time, it worked with an iMac — have you confirmed that it still works well when connected to other Macs with FireWire ports? Do you have a second FireWire device to test against your MacBook Pro, to ensure that the problem is not with the Lacie disk? Have you tried running your MacBook Pro’s Apple Hardware Test, to see if it can detect a problem with the MacBook Pro’s FireWire port?

  • Advice needed RE: Apogee Duet & Firewire ports

Hey guys I have the 2008 MBP and record all my audio to a Lacie (400 or 800)firewire HD.
I just got an Apogee Duet and was just wondering really if it is preferable to have the Duet going into the FW400 port and the HD in the FW800 port, or daisy-chaining with the HD in the FW400 port, or does it make no difference either way?
    Thanks very much in advance
    Best, Sam.

In my experience, put the AD(Duet) first and follow that with the drive. I've never had problems with that sequence, but I've had weird glitches with the AD following the drive. Shouldn't matter, but it seems that it does.

  • The instrument inputs on my Apogee Duet 1 are not working and the device isn't appearing in Maestro 2.

The microphone inputs and the audio are working, but not always as they originally did. I consistently updated the drivers and have uninstalled and reinstalled the program several times. I had been having a similar issue with the microphone inputs and after a few reinstalls get them to work, but I'm not having any luck doing the same for the instruments inputs.

    Hi Gen,
I'd be happy to elaborate and thanks so much for responding. The problem I had with the mic inputs in the past is similar to what's going on with the instrument inputs now. The mic inputs would work for a bit and then randomly stop. I'd go into the Apogee preferences in Logic and try to reset stuff, turn phantom power on and off, and play with the pre-amp levels which sometimes would work but often times not. The big difference between what happened with the mics and what's happening with the instrument inputs is that I could always get a read/level on the mics even though I couldn't hear them, but with the instrument inputs I'm getting nothing. Other than this, the mic inputs have worked as they should.
There have been two issues with the audio not working like it originally did. The main issue is that about 90% of the time I can control the output levels (whether in Logic, on the web, or in iTunes) using either the volume controls on my MacBook Pro or the dial on the Apogee. Occasionally, the Apogee will take over and I can only adjust the volume using the its dial. Normally, if I unplug and plug it back in this "fixes" it.
The other weird thing the audio is doing that just started happening and doesn't happen very often is that I'll go to watch something on YouTube, Vimeo, etc and the audio only comes out of the left channel. I'll mute the audio from my computer and/or using the Apogee's dial and I'll unplug and plug it back in, but normally I just have to deal until it fixes itself.
Here's a best guess timeline for when problems started showing up:
    - The mic input issues have been on and off for about two and a half years.
    - The audio output issue has been kind of off and on for a few years but became a more regular occurrence about     2 months ago and I believe it was after a reinstall that it started
    - The left channel isolation started about a little more than month ago, probably around the same time as the audio
output and probably has something to do with the reinstall
** I'm really unsure how long ago the instrument output problem started because I hadn't been using them for             quite some time. I think they were working correctly 7-8 months ago and I noticed the problem about 2-3
months back. I tried fiddling around with it for about a month before a reinstalled the drivers around 2 months
        ago
I hope that answers your questions adequately and I really hope you'll be able to help. Let me know if there is any more information you need. I should be much quicker to reply moving forward as I was away for most of last week and the beginning of this week.
    Thank you,
    Adam

  • Networking through firewire doesn't work

I have about 100GB worth of data on my MacBook Pro (running 10.6.4) that I'm trying to transfer over to my G4 (1 GHz FW 800, running 10.5.8 Server) through firewire. But when I connect my MBP to my G4 with my firewire 800 cable and then go into network preferences in my G4 it says firewire is "inactive". Why would it all of sudden disable the firewire bus? Is there a way to enable it again?

  • Apogee Duet (1) not working on Mavericks

I had been on Snow Leopard and Duet worked fine. Upgraded to Mavericks, now it does not.
I plug it in initially (after reboot) and sound comes through the Duet. If I touch any volume control, the sound cuts out. In Maestro, the controls are all very finnecky, can't select any options. If I unplug and replug, still no sound comes through. Assuming it's a problem with Maestro compatability, but I've heard that Mavericks isn't really playing nicely with other non-apple hardware either. Suggestions?

Guys see my thread - https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5493304
For those of you who are using Apogee Duet (Firewire or USB) and just UPDATED to Maverics - DONT INSTALL NEW APOGEE DRIVERS!
The reason is - once you install new driver, software volume control keys (on your keyboard) wont work! You will have to use DUET's knob which is not always confortable.
There is no fix for this yet and maybe wont be, because of Apogee "great" costumer support - (such problems with DUET first appeared in Lion)
If your drivers from Mountain Lion (or older) works fine, dont update it or reinstall it. You will be unable to install previous version in Mavericks.
If you're the one who installed fresh copy of Mavericks from USB Flash, i dont think there is a way to fix the problem. One thing that i didnt try was using Pacifist to force replace driver files.
    Hope this message was helpful
Seems like this problem appears not only on Duet, but on al Apogee products.. =(

  • I can't make my apogee duet work

I have a Macbook Pro 2.3 Ghz Core i5, Lion 10.7.4 and I have an Apogee Duet that is not working for some reason. I all ok connected I can listen trough it but i can't record any signal. I have installed the latest version of Maestro and use Garage Band none of them work for me to record. Yes the system and these programs recognize the interface but jsy cant record with it. It was the same thing when i was using Leopard

If you had the same problem with Leopard, it says the problem is with the configuration of the Apogee software and/or the hardware driver info.  Contact Apogee to find out what's wrong.

  • Apogee Duet for iOS with Yamaha Motif XF

    Hey guys....
I am testing my new app for the iPhone (Neo-Soul Keys) and I happen to just buy the new Apogee Duet for iOS. I have been trying to get my Yamaha Motif XF8 to work with the unit via USB, but it doesn't seem to work through the Apogee Duet iOS, BUT it works flawless when plugged into the iPad or iPhone directly.
See attached image. You can CLEARLY see that the Yamaha Motif XF registeres with iOS and all is working fine, but when I connect my USB MIDI through my Apogee Duet iOS, I get nothing.
Apogee claims that the reason why it doesn't work is because the Yamaha Motif XF is not "USB Compliant." Well even if it isn't, shouldn't the Apogee Duet just pass the MIDI signal through.

Nope.   To put it bluntly Apple really screwed this up.  The opperating system has created serious headaches for musicians and it doen't look like it's going to be fixed anything time soon.

No output. changed system settings accordingly. NOTHING. when I click on the drop down in ABLETON it HANGS for ages. Then after its selected, the track doesnt play....
So It tried ITUNES. Same. after clicking play NOTHING happens - track status bar does not move. When I re-select the mac output (through my stereo / headphone socket) I can hear itunes / Ableton perfectly.
I am sensing this is a driver issue.? I wont lie to you - Im a NEWBIE to MACs. Converted this Xmas - but I seem to have picked up a well stocked MINI MAC - but is a there a school boy error here I am missing?
BTW - just to be safe Ive ordered a new 400-88 firewire cable just in case...as apogee came with a 800, 9 pin to 9pin cable, so I am using an adaptor (which again may be the probem - even though its high quality),...new cable will arrive tomorrow.
MANY THANKS - NICE TO FINALLY GET A MAC !!

I think you're trying too hard...
I have zero tech or network expertise, but my Mac mini server intalled without a hitch on my home network of three other Mac desktops (Ethernet from AEBS), a MacBook, and a PC laptop, both via the AEBS wireless. The AEBS is connected to a cable modem.
I also have a static IP for my AEBS.
If you hook up your server, computers, and AEBS first and then reinstall Mac OSX Server, the server set-up will configure your network for you. You shouldn't have to set your own IPs at all...
I'm no genius at this stuff and I'm mostly playing around and experimenting, but we use file sharing, a common calendar, a family Wiki, centralized backup, and also run iTunes continuously to serve an Apple TV.
Let Apple do the work for you. See if the defaults work before tweaking it. It worked out of the box for me... Good luck.

  • Duet Firewire Not Recognized By Mac Mini 10.10.2. Yosemite

    Hi Everyone.
I'm attempting to put back together my home recording studio. I recently purchased a new Mac Mini 10.10.2. The mini just WILL NOT recognize my older, tried and true Duet Firewire interface. I'm using a Firewire to Thunderbolt adaptor, and nothing. I installed the proper Apogee Duet Firewire drivers. Maestro 2 shows up just fine but gives me, "No Apogee Systems Found". The Duet also does not show up anywhere else that it should either. The unit doesn't light up. Nothing. I found a thread that began with one other person complaining of the same problem while using the same OS and hardware but unfortunately their was no solution posted. Is ANYBODY familiar with this problem? More importantly, does anybody know of a solution? PLEASE?????!!!!!
I've darned near blown my wad financially, I'm frightened and I'm so frustrated. HELP!
Thanks a lot to anybody, everybody.

Have you went to Duet's support site?

  • Monitoring effects in audio recording via Apogee Duet

I had to delete Logic preferences to connect Logic Remote. As a result I have lost effects in headphones out of Apogee Duet Firewire. I can only monitor clean. Is there an obvious fix? (Logic x , Yosemite, Apogee Duet 2 firewire)

It was a Bus (and human) error in Logic Mixer. Sorted, Thanks.
