Apogee JAM noise?

Hi there,
I was looking in the forum about this "problem" I have but I dodnt found anything and even in internet all around.
So the thing is that I have this Apogee JAM that I use with my iMac and GarageBand.
It works just great...
I was recording some rithmics and today I decided to listen them using my headphones and my surprise was that before the guitar starts there is a noise, kind of "buzz", and then this noise continues during all the recording, it is like the guitar is playing and this "buzz" is on background, not very loud but you can hear it, and is more audible when you stop to play.
The Gain in the JAM is in the middle, so no gain saturation, also "shape", "treble", "middle" and "bass" on my guitar are in the middle.
Any one here is having this same "problem"?
Do I need to change something in the garageband?
Thanks a lot for help someone can bring me
ED

Unfortunately, I don't believe that Apple keeps prior versions of Apps available at the store. GB was the first app I purchased there day one of my Ipad, incredibly worth the $, and I did actually look to see if you could go back legitimately. This is just one of the many reasons to JBreak your devices, so that you can go backward if you need to. This is a perfect example of why Apple should make prior versions available, but they think they know it all and never make mistakes, so that will never happen. Again, this is why folks take things into their own hands and why the scene exists. There are plenty of abuses, more than not IMO, but here is a perfect example of how people are screwed and can't use their Jams any longer without a JBroken device. They obviously know that this issue exists, they have employees on these forums. It will be months if ever they fix this issue, because the number of owners of Jam, although in the thousands, is small potatoes compared to the Apple owner universe. I believe it will only be fixed if Apogee is able to put enough pressure on Apple. If you see the Jam removed from the Apple store and GB site you know that Apple is choosing not to fix it, because they won't sell or promote it directly and then have to deal with complaints and returns. But even this will happen slowly...
Actually it occurs to me that Apogee may have to redesign the Jam AGAIN in order to get it working with 1.1 on Ipad 2 and Iphone 4s (devices with the newer processor). I wonder if they will recall or replace the Jams for people who now have Jams not compatible with Garageband. Again, Apple should be posting a warning for Jam owners on the Garageband download page, but that will never happen because Apple doesn't care about small potatoes.

  • Static in GarageBand when using Apogee Jam

    Hello,
I am using an Apogee Jam as my guitar interface with GB. I have noticed static/noise when I am playing. I have GB version 6.0.5. I never had any static before. I have checked my cables and it does it with all my cables. I'm not sure if it is my interface or GB. Any other Apogee Jam users having this problem, before the most recent update to GB?
I am using a Mac Mini Late 2012 version.
    Thanks!

    Hello sclc,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums! I understand when you are using Skype on your HP Envy Touchsmart IS-j052nr running Windows 8.1 you are hearing static, whether using headphones or the speakers. Now are you only hearing the static noises when using Skype, or whenever you are using headphones or require sound from the speakers?
After some research on the Skype Support Forums, I have seen a few recommendations which I would like you to try to see if that reduces/removes that annoying static sound. Please follow the steps listed below:
    1. Sign into Skype
    2. Go to Tooks > Options > General > Audio settings
    3. Uncheck Automatically adjust under the Microphone and Speakers sections
    4. Set volume to your preference
    5. Save and restart Skype
If you are still experiencing the static noise, I would like you to continue here: Skype Audio Problems Trouble Shooting
Please reply back with the requested information, if the static noises are still there and it is only when you are using Skype, I recommend going to the Skype Support Page as they would be able to better assist you.
I will watch for your reply.

  • Apogee Jam and iMac problem

Just playing around with Garageband after buying an Apogee Jam.
I tried the 'line in' method via the guitar amp which worked great ....however, I now have a high pitched whine coming through the monitors which was not there before. It is controlled in volume by the Apogee Jam gain wheel. If I turn it right down, there is not enough signal to record properly.
Thinking about it, I did unplug the Apogge from its USB with Garageband open.....do you think I've damaged the Apogee? It didn't make this noise before I unplugged it.

JAM works best when plugged directly into a guitar, bass ect. Unplugging JAM shouldn't have caused an issue. Have you reached out to Apogee support? support.apogeedigital.com

  • How can I listen to a song from itunes and play along with my guitar on ipad2/apogee jam?

I am trying to utilze my ipad2 for guitar practce but having a hard time getting my technology under control.  I  have garage band as well as the apogee jam and I can easily hook it in and play, create songs etc.  But what I like to do is play along at the same time with songs from my itunes library or from youtube.  whenever I switch to another app the recording feed from garage band stops until I return to the app.  How do people get around this, if they do?
    Thanks

Not at this time. iTunes Match downloads all music listened to on iOS devices. Period.

  • Apogee Jam No longer working after 1.1 update?

My apogee jam is no longer working after updating to Garageband 1.1. I have an Ipad 2 with firmware 4.3.3.
    Specifically what happens is:
    1. I open the garageband app
    2. I select the guitar amp
    3. I plug the Jam chord into Ipad (guitar is already connected to cord)
    4. Jam light goes green, blue, bright green then green
When Jam light goes bright green, the monitor button in garageband goes dim and doesn't work.
I've tried plugging my guitar in first, then starting garageband, no difference in results.
I have tried turning the monitor "on" prior to pluging in the jam, when I do this the monitor/sound gate window stays open until the Jam bright green goes on, then it disappears and the monitor button goes dim.
Outside the garageband app, the ipad does recognize the Jam in settings, general.
What's worse (for me...) is that I backed up the Ipad in itunes thinking that app data would also be backed up (as I read that in a description of backup). I then deleted garageband from the ipad and then restored it from itunes. Guess what, lost all my songs... Bummed out... Why wouldn't my songs be backed up???
Anyway, any ideas on the Jam issue would be greatly appreciated. I'm hoping I am just overlooking a setting?

  • I am unable to get sound using apogee jam with my guitar. I can see input levels but no sound. What step am I missing?

I am unable to get any sound using apogee jam with my guitar in logic pro 9. I am using Macbook pro.

I think I have done something wrong. I used my Apogee Jam on a guitar project with several audio tracks in Logic Pro 9. And while the Apogee Jam still was connected, I switched to another project with only instrument tracks (synths). I forgot to change the "Built In Input". After I did this, my guitar sounds like crap when I try to use Apogee Jam in the same guitar project, or also if I create a new project. I use Guitar Rig 5 (Native Instruments) as my guitar plug-in. But the guitar sounds strange even if I don´t assign Guitar Rig.
    Can somebody help me?

  • Why does Apogee Jam not work with the Ipod Touch 4G

    Hi,
I have a Apogge Jam an it works fine with my Mac Book, but it does not seem to be compatible with my Ipod Touch 4g.
Only the Gibbson L&M app recognize the Apogee Jam, but no other App (Ampkit, ....) :-((
With the IPhone 4 it shall work, can tell me anybody why Apogee Jam is not compatible with the Ipod Touch 4g (
    although the Gibson-App works)?
Is there perhaps still other Apps which work with the Ipod Touch and Apogge Jam?
    Thanks
    Michael

I cannot answer the specifics, but I would guess it is a software issue because Griffin iTalk app will cooperate with the Apogee JAM on an iPod Touch 4g running iOS5.  If this app can do it, then one would presume the other apps could be updated to do it also.
From last week up until yesterday, Apogee actually listed the 4G Touch as a compatible device with the JAM.
Apparently there was some confusion about Garageband now supporting iPod Touch and its functionality with JAM.

  • Garageband - using apogee Jam and acoustic guitar sound

    Hi
I am trying to record an acoustic guitar on garageband (using my actual acoustic guitar), however the sound of the low strings sounds really muffled and low quality. i am using the built-in mic on my Mac to do this, not any external equipment. Is it advisible to always use an external mic and/or directly plug any instrument directly into the Mac? Are there any methods to improve the sound of recording?
I also purchased an apogee Jam device to plug electric guitar and bass directly into my Mac and record. It seems to be working, however, i cant get any output sound at all (when playing or recording). it does record, but only like an unplugged electric instrument would sound. On the 'Track' menu at the top, the option to 'show monitoring for real instrument tracks' is greyed out when i have the Jam plugged in. i cant find any way to hear the instrument in Garageband at all.
    I am using a Mac Book Pro, Garageband 11 V. 6.0.5.
    Any help, much appreciated!
    Thanks
    Dom

    Dom,
Double check that your JAM the selected input source by opening System Preferences>Sound>Input and select JAM. When you open GarageBand make sure to start a new "Real Instrument Track" or "Guitar Track" (if you want to add any crazy effects to the acoustic signal). Also make sure to select the button "I want to hear my instrument as I play and record."

  • No sound from Apogee Jam with iPad mini and Lightning-30 pin adapter

    Hello everybody.
I'm trying to use my Apogee Jam with iPad mini but I am unable to hear any sound from it. Jam seems to work, since the led become green and react to the guitar signal. I tried two different guitars and different cables but nothing changes. Jam also works perfectly on MacBook Pro and garage Band, so I first assumed the issue was in the iPad or in the Lightning-30 pin adapter (genuine).
Oddly on AmpliTube I can tune the guitar, so some signal arrives to the iPad, but I can't do the same on JamUp, where the tuner seems not to reiceve any signal. Are there some settings I should check on the apps?
    Thanks for any suggestions!

Make sure you have the monitor input turned on in GarageBand. http://youtu.be/Eb8bN3tExio

  • Apogee Jam and Garage Band

I recently got a new Airbook about 3 weeks ago. I have my Apogee Jam working with Garage band, however, I regularly need to reset the MIDI drivers. When I change amps/effects the sound output will stop. I believe that all my connections (cable, etc.) are good. Doe anyone have any ideas why this may be happening?
    Thanks,
    Dan
    OSX: 10.9.4
    Garage Band 10.0.3

    Thanks, I will try upgrading.
I tried to get a screen shot, but the window keeps minimizing when I try to use Grab- but what I do to fix it, is:
    1. Go to GB preferences
    2. Select reset MIDI, and/or reselect output device
    3. You can see it 'cycles through',  and then, it seems to correct it.
I see what you are saving about MIDI, but I don't have a keyboard set-up with it, etc.
    Thanks again,
    Dan

  • Can I use apogee jam on ipad 4 with lightning 30 pin adapter?

Can I use apogee jam on ipad 4 with lightning 30 pin adapter?

OKAY Mikivai73, here's what I found: no less than TWO cheap alternative-brand imitation connectors that go 30-pin to lightning, failed to even make apogee jam device light up blue.
Spent hours mucking with it.  Finally tried proper genuine apple usb to lightning connector with the OTHER cable that comes in the apogee JAM box, and it worked straight off!
So, I am buying a genuine pukka APPLE 30-pin to lightning adaptor in the full expectation it will work, and have left questions for the Ebay guys who sold the two cheap (less than 5 pounds sterling) alternate adaptors.
For info, I got the Ipad 4,and the cheap adapters, one looks like the real apple one, right down to packaging, the other is a stumpy little thing, no cable just a plastic connector, with 30 pin one side, lightning other side.
That's it, I am ordering from the apple store now, can't be more certain than that.
    best regards from sleekitwan.

  • When I connect my guitar using apogee jam the note drops off after a few seconds. Why???

When I connect my guitar using apogee jam the note drops off after a few seconds. Why???
Its the same on most of the preset amps.
Please help, the apogee cost me £80!

Is it stopping recording after 8 seconds? Are you using Garage Band?
If both of these are correct:
This is actually a feature (i'm not sure why it defaults to this).  Instructions for the iPhone version are below:
With the amp section open, touch the sproket on the upper right.
You should be in a "settings" type area with three tabs.  Touch "Sections"
Select the section and switch it to automatic - it will now record until you stop recording by touching the stop icon.

  • APOGEE Jam or BEHRINGER UCG102+Apple camera kit ?

    Hi all !
So I want to plug my guitar into garageband, and at some point maybe a keyboard or other instruments.
So I was wondering if there was any difference between using an Apogee Jam (that is more expensive, and hard to find in Europe for the time being) or the behringer thing + the Apple camera kit, that will be used to connect my camera every now and then too (duhh).
Is there a quality difference between the two setups ? Any latency on either of the two ?
    What would you suggest ?
I would use it at first with garageband and Ampkit+ for the iPad, and if the harware allows it (hence option 2), on the mac...
    Thanx for your input !

    Philippe-
I don't know the answer, but do know the Apple Camera Connection Kit could be a problem.  It does not support much besides a camera or USB camera card adapter.  I've heard that it may support a USB keyboard, but some do not work.
I suggest you contact the GarageBand App's author to find out if it will work the way you want to use it.  Perhaps Behringer would be able to tell you.

  • Apogee jam not showing

I have an Apogee Jam USB audio interface. It shows up and works under MainStage, GarageBand and in system prefs > Sound, but it does not show up in Apple Logic Pro. I'm using Logic 8.0.2.   I can't use it as I can't set it as the audio device in Logic's Preferesces > Audio > Device.
I also have a MOTU Traveler audio interface, and it shows up just fine in Logic.
Is there some way to have Logic take a fresh look at what audio interfaces are there?  It seems so odd that it shows up under MainStage, but not under Logic.
    i am running on a MacPRO 10.7.2
Any thoughts on getting the JAM to show up in logic would be appreciated.
I know there is v9 out there, but I don't want to shell out $ just to get it to show up.. I can't think of any reason it shouldn't work in v8.
    Thanks!
    Bill

Ah.... wait... update for you.  I restarted Logic after creating the "Aggregate Device" in the Audio Midi setup tool and now "Aggregate Device" shows up in the pick list in Logic 8 and after I selected it, it is working!
So it looks like this now in the OSX Audio Midi setup tool:
    Clock Source: Jam
    Sample Rate: 44100.0Hz
USE                    AUDIO DEVICE          IN     OUT          DRIFT
    X                             Jam                         1      0               X
    X                             Motu Traveler           22    22              X
All the other in/outs are left unchecked.

  • Apogee Jam Help!

    Hi,
I have recently purchased an Apogee Jam from Apple. I wasn't able to figure out or find anything to help me record Audio and Video at the same time USING built-in effects in GarageBand. I want to record video (from iSight) and record audio (Apogee Jam) at the same time. Although I think I found a way to do it in iMovie, it doesn't allow me apply effects.
So basically, I would like to record Apogee Jam and video at the same time USING effects.
Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks!

    Noah,
Have you tried recording in both programs simultaenously, then syncing up the audio afterward? This may be the simplest route.
