Apostrophe ( ' ) in the attachment file name

Hi Guys,
We have a EP application where the users are allowed to attach files. In the UAT and Prod box, there is apache server where as its not there in development.
The issue is coming in UAT and production
The user attached a file with (') in it e.g. SAP's.jpg
The file was attached but when the user tries to view it, it gets error as
FORBIDDEN
you dont have permission to access /irj/go/km/docs/documents/SAP's.jpg
I tried to use different file names such as  SAP~s.jpg. All seems to work so its not really a special character issue.
BASIS team is not able to find any setting which could allow this.
Appreciate if you can provide some explaination or the list of character which are not allowed.
Thanks,
Shailesh

It seems (') is not allowed due to security reasons thus has a special meaning so not allowed

  • Javamail API doesn't support special characters in attachment file name

    Hi,
    We are using Java Mail API to retrieve the attachment's file name, but it sometimes returns the file name as junk character (if the attachment contains special characters) and it is not able to return original file name for some attachments:
    Our code sample :
    void getFileName(Part part) {
    String fname=null;
    fname = part.getFileName();
    Actually the problem is with the attachment file name which contains special character. For example below is the attachment file name (please find the sample attached file which is causing this issue):
    Sample – 1234abc.doc
    From above you could see the file name contains a special character (Sample – 1234abc.doc), i.e. The character ‘–’ is not a regular hyphen character, it’s a special character. Hence the Java mail API returns the name as below:
    Sample ? 1234abc.doc
    So the special character is being replaced with ‘?’ symbol. But if I store this file in local folder and try reading the file name using Java IO packages, it returns the file name without adding ‘?’ symbol.
    Is there any way to handle such kind of special characters in Mail API?
    Regards,
    Vinodh

    We dealt with this issue in a private email conversation.
    JavaMail is returning the correct data for the filename.  The problem is in the way the filename is being displayed.

  • Set Attached File name to Table Cell

    Hello All,
    I have a scenario where:
    1. I have a dynamic table.
    2.Every Row has a Button for attaching the new File.
    3. When we add new Row to the Table, I want to get the attached file name in the corresponding cell. i.e Cell2 in following example.
    I have tried doing it this way
    The script which I'm using on Add button is
    app.execMenuItem(&quot;AddFileAttachment&quot;);
    var o = event.target.dataObjects;
    var n = &quot;&quot;;
    DataNode.Table1.Row1.Cell2.rawValue = &quot;&quot;;
    if (o !== null) {
              for (var i = 0; i < o.length; i += 1) {
                        n = o[this.parent.index].name;
    var countVal = (DataNode.Table1.Row1.instanceManager.count-1);
    xfa.resolveNode(&quot;DataNode.Table1.Row1[&quot;+countVal+&quot;].Cell2&quot;).rawValue = n;
      But I'm not able to display the attached file name in Cell2 of the Table.
    How can we do it?
    Thanks and Regards,

    I even tried doing the same using  http://eslifeline.wordpress.com/2009/04/06/adding-attachments-to-pdf-form/

  • Attachment File Name

    I have a form that was created and is used by users on my local network. The problem is that when a user emails the form using the send by email button I get the email but the attachment file name is always the same. This creates a problem because when I go to save the attachment it wants to over write the files. I need to have the file name be unique for each email.

    no, not to my knowledge

  • Chnage attachment file name

    We have Oracle 10g application server ,i used rwlicent to send report as email and it works fine the only problem that i couldnot controll the attachment file name,
    is it possible to change the file name?
    any help so appritiated .
    Regards

    Are you using a distribution.xml for the emailed reports? If not you can pass destination=distribution.xml on your rwclient call.
    distribution.xml:
    <destinations>
    <foreach>
      <mail id="a6" to="[email protected]" subject="Personnel Reports">
        <attach format="pdf" name="attach.pdf" srcType="report" instance="this">
          <include src="mainSection"/>
        </attach>
        <attach format="rtf" name="attach.rtf" srcType="report" instance="this">
          <include src="trailerSection"/>
        </attach>
      </mail>
    </foreach>
    </destinations>You can change the attach.rtf to be a parameter value using &<parametername> syntax. Look here for details on using the distribution.xml file.

  • How to get the right file name in an attachment

    I have design a program to get the attach file from an attachment. But when I click the link to save the file, the default name of the file is 'attach' whenever I get different files. Who know what is the problem, please tell me the truth.
    Here are some codes of the program.
    download.jsp
    <%="test.doc"%>
    web.xml
    <servlet-mapping>
    <servlet-name>AttachmentServlet</servlet-name>
    <url-pattern>attachment</url-pattern>
    </servlet-mapping>
    AttachmentServlet.java
    public void doGet
    Message msg = folder.getMessage(msgNum);
    // the message I get is right and the name of the file in
    // the attach in this message is right too.(I have printed)
    Multipart multipart = (Multipart)msg.getContent();
    Part part = multipart.getBodyPart(partNum);
    ContentType ct = new ContentType(sct);
    response.setContentType(ct.getBaseType());
    InputStream is = part.getInputStream();
    int i;
    while ((i = is.read()) != -1) {
    out.write(i);
    out.flush();
    out.close();

    The trick that I used is to append the URL with the name of the file. So if your url is "http://domain.com/attach", use "http://domain.com/attach/filename.doc". IE and Netscape parse the URL to determine what the filename is, so by placing this text at the end, you essentially let the browsers know what the filename is. :)

  • When I try to save an email attached file, the file name is automatically convertied to "attachment.ashx" although the correct file type is recognized. How do I retain the original file name?

    This problem occurred after the most recent update to firefox 8.0.
    After right clicking on the attached file, I click on save link as.
    The correct file type is recognized. However the file name is converted to "attachment.ashx".
    When I rename the file, it downloads properly and is opened by the appropriate program.
    However, I should not have to rename each downloaded file.
    In particular, this is happening with Word files and with Scientific Notebook (.tex) files.

    Cor-el, thank you for your advice. I was able to navigate to my Profile Folder and I deleted the mimeTypes.rdf file. I then closed Firefox and restarted it. The problem was still there, and I found that the mimeTypes.rdf file had been re-created.
    I tried your second suggestion, but the files you mentioned were not present so there was nothing to reset.
    Any other suggestions?

  • How can I auto export a PDF File using the "Smallest File Size" preset and set the Exported File Name based on information from an Imported PDF?

    Greetings all,
    I am trying to create a script to automate a PDF export process for my company for inDesign. I’m fairly new to inDesign itself and have no previous experience with javascript, although I did take C++ in high school and have found it helpful in putting this code together.
    We have an inDesign template file and then use the Multi-page PDF importer script to import PDF files. We then have to export two version of each file that we import, then delete the imported file and all of the pages to reset the template. This has to be done for nearly 1000 pdf files each month and is quite tedious. I’m working on automating the process as much as possible. I’ve managed to piece together code that will cleanup the file much quicker and am now trying to automate the PDF exports themselves.
    The files are sent to us as “TRUGLY#####_Client” and need to be exported as “POP#####_Client_Date-Range_North/South.pdf”
    For example, TRUGLY12345_Client needs to be exported as POP12345_Client_Mar01-Mar31_North and POP12345_Client_Mar01-Mar31_South.
    There are two templates built into the template file for the north and south file that are toggled easily via layer visibility switches. I need to get a code that can ideally read the #s from the imported Trugly file as well as the Client and input those into variables to use when exporting. The date range is found in the same place in the top right of each pdf file. I am not sure if this can be read somehow or if it will have to be input manually. I can put North or South into the file name based on which template layer is visible.
    I am not sure how to go about doing this. I did find the following code for exporting to PDF with preset but it requires me to select a preset and then type the full file name. How can I set it to automatically use the “Smallest File Size” preset without prompting me to choose and then automatically input some or preferably all of the file name automatically? (If the entire filename is possible then I don’t even want a prompt to appear so it will be fully automated!)
    PDF Export Code (Originally from here: Simple PDF Export with Preset selection | IndiSnip [InDesign® Snippets]):
    var myPresets = app.pdfExportPresets.everyItem().name;
    myPresets.unshift("- Select Preset -");
    var myWin = new Window('dialog', 'PDF Export Presets');
    myWin.orientation = 'row';
    with(myWin){
        myWin.sText = add('statictext', undefined, 'Select PDF Export preset:');
        myWin.myPDFExport = add('dropdownlist',undefined,undefined,{items:myPresets});
        myWin.myPDFExport.selection = 0;
        myWin.btnOK = add('button', undefined, 'OK');
    myWin.center();
    var myWindow = myWin.show();
    if(myWindow == true && myWin.myPDFExport.selection.index != 0){
        var myPreset = app.pdfExportPresets.item(String(myWin.myPDFExport.selection));
        myFile = File(File.saveDialog("Save file with preset: " + myPreset.name,"PDF files: *.pdf"));
        if(myFile != null){
            app.activeDocument.exportFile(ExportFormat.PDF_TYPE, myFile, false, myPreset);
        }else{
            alert("No File selected");
    }else{
        alert("No PDF Preset selected");
    So far my code does the following:
    1) Runs the Multi-Page PDF Import Script
    2) Runs PDF Export Script Above
    3) Toggles the Template
    4) Runs #2 Again
    5) Deletes the imported PDF and all pages and toggles template again.
    It’s close and much better than the original process which was almost 100% manual but I’d like to remove the Preset prompt from the PDF script and have it automatically select the “Smallest File Size” preset. and then if there’s a way to have it auto-fill in the file name so no user input is required at all other than selecting each file to import. (If there’s a way to setup a batch action for the multi-import script that would be even better!)
    Thanks in advance and if there’s anything else I can provide that would help please let me know! Even a nudge in the right direction will be a big help!

    If you hold down the option key, it will typically show the location. Or you can often hit option-return on the file and it will reveal the file in the Finder, instead of opening it.
    Final option is to open it, and just option-click the filename in the toolbar of Preview and it should show you the location.
    It's probably an attachment to an email you've received. If you have Mail set to cache emails and their attachments it'll be stashed in a subdirectory of ~/Library/Mail. Which is fine.

  • Email attachment file names

    I have a sender mail adapter that picks up emails with file attachments from a mail box using the IMAP transport protocol.
    The mail adapter passes processing onto the PayloadSwapBean and then onto a customised module that processes the file attachment (a CSV file).
    When I use the messaging system i.e. http://xiserver:port/MessagingSystem/monitor/monitor.jsp
    I can see that Content-Type includes the attachment's file name:-
    Content-Type: application/octet-stream;name="INV_5016888091848_20060912_00001.csv"
    Content-Disposition: attachment;filename="MailMessage.bin"
    Content-Description: MailMessage
    In my customised module I would like to pick up this file name so that it can be stored in a database table. I have attempted to pick up this file name from the payload using the "getContentType" method of the "XMLPayload" class but this only returns "application/octet-stream" and does not include the file name.
    Does anyone know how I can get hold of the above file name using the Adapter Framework API? Or, alternatively, by some other method/approach.
    Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

  • How do i change the HTML file names for existing index

    Hi,
    How do i change my existing HTML file names for indexes. The Html file name is disabled when we click on properties.
    Ex:   Index Keywork : Architecture
            Old HTML Page/URL =: Architecture.htm
    I want to change  Old HTML Page/URL =: Architecture.htm to architecture_new.htm
    Please find the screenshot attached.

    That's because you are looking at the Properties and that is not how you create index entries.
    Highlight the Index keyword ("Paste" in this example). It shows below what is already linked. If you delete that, the keyword will be displayed in bold to show no keyword is attached. You can add further keywords by dragging them from the Topic List.
