Apostrophes dont show up on the internet?
hey guys, i have early/mid 08 MBP that wont show apostrophes when on the internet. instead i either get a weird symbol that looks like your odometer on your car or a tilted square with a question mark in the middle like this �. it does this in both safari and firefox...any ideas on how to fix it?
In Safari, those font preferences tjk mentions are under the Appearance tab. You may find the the problem is Text Encoding, controlled by the bottom-most field. If that gets changed, odd font effects can result. The setting depends on your language; mine for the US is set to "Western (ISO Latin 1)" and I seldon get odd font issues with sites I frequent.
In FireFox 3.0.X preferences, it's under the "Content" tab. You have to click the "advanced" button next to the default font field to see the text encodings. Their labels are difference rom thos in Safari. Mine says "Western (ISO-8859-1)"

Go step by step and test.
1. Power off the router. Unplug it from the wall. Wait a while.
Plug it back to the wall. Power the router on. Wait until all the lights are lit properly. It will take a while.
Restart the computer.
Start up in Safe Mode.

2. Empty Caches
Safari > Preference > Advanced
Checkmark the box for "Show Develop menu in menu bar".
Develop menu will appear in the Safari menu bar.
Click Develop and select "Empty Caches" from the dropdown.
3. Deselect Proxies if selected.
System Preference > Network > Advanced > Proxies Tab
Under "Select Protocol", uncheck any box if selected.
Click "OK" then "Apply”. -

If your problem persists get yourself a micro USB cable (sold separately), you can restore your Apple TV from iTunes:
Remove ALL cables from Apple TV. (if you don't you will not see Apple TV in the iTunes Source list)
Connect the micro USB cable to the Apple TV and to your computer.
Open iTunes.
Select your Apple TV in the Source list, and then click Restore. -
Siri's voice just says everything that i touch. The voice says the numbers i touch but the numbers dont show up on the screen so i cant make phone calls! what is going on??
It sounds as if you have Voiceover activated. You should be able to turn it off by triple tapping the Home button.

I have a website for my artwork. I had a PC and. Now an iMAC. I've used Dreamweaver to update the website. I used to go to Filezilla on the PC a upload the updated pages which would then show updated on the internet. What file like FileZilla should I use?

Click the Source Forge link - make sure you reject offers for any other software during the installation, Source Forge usually will ask you to install other stuff in addition to what you want (Filezilla).
It works well on Mac.

It shows connected to the internet but when I browse it won't open a page.
Hi, can someone help me. My mac shows that i'm connected to the internet server but when i open a page in the internet browser it says that it is not connected. It doesn't show a page. I used different browsers but still it won't work. IP address is fine. My internet connection is fine. But i think it has to do with the settings. I tried to use my HP laptop and it worked well. Even though the iPod shows as been connected, it might not have actually received a valid IP address via DHCP from your Wi-Fi access point or router. Head to Settings -> Wi-Fi and tap the > next to the network you are connected. If 169.xxx.xxx.xxx is listed for an IP Address, then your iPod did not receive a valid IP address. To correct this you can reboot your router by unplugging it from power for about 30 seconds.
It wouldn't hurt to also reset your iPod. To do this, press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear.

Mail in my mac iCloud account doesn't show up on the internet iCloud account
I have an iCloud mail folder on my macs (both a mini and a macbook) with many subfolders. All of a sudden the only mail that is on my macs that shows up on my iCloud internet account is in top level folders on my macs. When I click on the main folder that has all of the subfolders, I get a quick whirl of the indicator and then nothing - no sub folders, no emails, nothing! As a test, I moved an email from a subfolder into one of the prime folders on my mac and it immediately appeared on the internet. Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this or what may be wrong? In the past I was able to access this mail on my iCloud internet account without any problems.

Could you explain what you mean and how to correct it?
The mail box listing in Mail have various main headings starting with On My Mac, and concluding with ICLOUD. Under the ICLOUD heading there are a series of subfolders, some of which have further levels of subfolders. It is only the top level under ICLOUD that shows its contents.
I just did a permissions repair with Disk Utility and the problem went away!!

If you have more than one iChat account, like a mac and an AIM screen name, each of them only displays the buddies and their details that you have added whilst logged in with that account. You can check quickly if your other account displays the list as you were expecting by selecting the iChat drop down menu>accounts and check if you have more than one.

Safari only shows half of the internet pages
Safari on my iPhone5 only shows half of the webpages I go to. It's not even a propper half, like, it's slim or missing the bottum. No, it just shows one corner and the rest is black and gray. It's hard to discribe so I made 2 printscreens. This is how it looks like when the screen is vertical:

If you are having issues with your iPhone only displaying part of a web page, you may want to try some things to troubleshoot.
First, quit all running applications and test again -
iOS: Force an app to close
Next, I would try restarting the iPhone -
Turn your iOS device off and on (restart) and reset
If the issue is still present, you may want to restore the iPhone as a new device -

OID instance not showing up on the Internet Directory page
The customer is trying to get iasconsole to display performance metrics, but OID instance does not show up on Internet Directory page. This is a clustered OID install and this only appears to occur on the clustered OID consoles. Fanout nodes display correctly. The customer also tried the suggestion in note 363483.1 but it did not correct the issue.
Any inputs appreciated.

Itunes 10.6.1.7 keeps saying there app updates but they dont show up on the download screen

Issue solved - It turns out that the QuickTime version on my PC was 6.5 and I needed to update to version 7.6 or higher to allow videos to play in iTunes. I updated to QuickTime version 7.7 and then added the old podcast folder to iTunes while in podcasts. This found all video podcast content and then the auto reorg moved all folders to the new podcast directory. For the videos I manually moved earlier, I had to move (not copy) them back to the old directory or folder then add that old folder and they were now in the right directory and viewable in iTunes.

i always replace my icons to make the folders more colourful and relevant to whats in them.
they show up fine in their location but they just turn into blank document looking icons when i drag them into the sidebar.
