App called a User automatically without user permi...

Today I found a issue.
My cousin messaged me that she is getting calls from me and able to see my video (it was the ceiling fortunately) and also hear audio.
My worry is:
1. I did not call.
2. I have disable Auto-Reply/Auto-Accept
I was logged in to iPad, Moto G and Windows 8 at this time. My cousin was on her windows Computer.
The problem device was Moto G of which video and audio was On.
Is this something at device level, which I doubt.
All help to understand and resolve is appreciated.

Hi, Netizenn, and welcome to the Community,
Please take this first proactive step: change your account password.
That said, I also always recommend signing on to your account dashboard and then to check if your account's registered e-mail address is accurate and valid before changing your password.
Regards,
Elaine

    Is there a way to stop this automatic upgrade of programs in CC without giving consent. It really brings things to a standstill if you are in the middle of a projects.

    I'm usually at a connection so it's only once I'm on the road that I see it happen this way so I'll have to mess with it all when I'm not at one again.  I guess I need to be online to create in admin acct, probably, not really sure what you mean by that, but I'll look into it.  I'm not using any special software that I know of that should conflict with it.  This is with both my machines one a 2008 macpro and the other a 2011 macbookpro, just running regular OS as far as I know.  I'll have to actively test it soon again.  Do you mean an admin acct of my adobe id sign in or something just within Premiere?

  • Yosemite: Server.app crash trying to modify users permissions

    Hi,
    I have just updated to Yosemite and purchased Yosemite Server App, then migrate from old volume's sys/server.app (osx 10.9.5 - server v. 3.0.3) with Migration Assistant tool.
    Suddenly the application is crashing when I edit users permissions in "Archive" section. Restart is useless. Permissions on boot volume verified with diskutil looks fine.
    Anyone, please, have some suggest?

        0x7fff8e091000 -

    Please read this whole message before doing anything.
    This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    Step 1
    The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
    Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
    While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your documents or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this behavior; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
    Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
    After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
    *Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
    Step 2
    The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
    Please take this step regardless of the results of Step 1.
    Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
    Note: If FileVault is enabled in OS X 10.9 or earlier, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
    Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
    The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
    Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
    After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of Steps 1 and 2.

    I have to access to SAMPLE.TXT file using BSP when user antered a page in WAS.
    Have you got any solution. I have tried so much methods to do this. But i have not found any solution.

    Yes SAMPLE.txt stored in "STORAGE CARD\PLC" folder in terminal.
    But i am trying in my computer to test with "C:
    GPS.txt"
    I have tried before this method. But I think this is a security exception. Because when i use
    <SCRIPT LANGUAGE="JavaScript">
    <!--
    var fso = new ActiveXObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject");
    extName = fso.GetExtensionName("C:\GPS.txt");
    alert(extName)
    -->
    </SCRIPT>
    i am getting an alert with message "txt". there is no problem.
    But when i try to access file using this code
    <SCRIPT LANGUAGE="JavaScript">
    <!--
    var fso = new ActiveXObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject");
    fileObj = fso.GetFile("C:\GPS.txt");
    -->
    </SCRIPT>
    i am getting "Automation server can't create object".

    LV doesn't have any sort of Startup folder as we are a little concerned
    about the security issues this brings about. You can specify VIs on the
    command line for LV to open. And VIs can be set to run when opened.
    Combining these features, you wind up using the system's Startup folder,
    placing either a batch file or a shortcut to LV with the command line
    options added to list out the VIs, and finally, set the VI properties
    so
    that the VIs run when opened.

  • Option "Deny this user permissions to logon to a Remote Desktop Session Host Server" tuned on

    Last week a lot of users start to complain that they can´t access my TS Server, where there are several Remote Apps published in my TS Gateway server. Everything was fine in the last 3 years.
    We´re investigating an issue related to the Oracle IDM application, maybe the reconcilliantion process is enabling the "Deny this user permissions to logon to a Remote Desktop Session Host Server" option, without our permission
    But the investigation of the problem will take longer, so, i need a method to remove the checkbok of the option, via script or automated method, while we´re investigating the issue, because the users calls, we uncheck the option and everything is fone again,
    but several hours later, the checkbos appears checked (on) again
    I could´t find the option in powershell, nor ADSIEdit/Attribute editor.
    I even couldn´t find the name of the field
    I need to create a qucik-script to sweep the AD, and uncheck the optin, automatically, untill the problem is solved

    Some new information:
    1) The Oracle IDM/OAM solution was "Guilty".
    For some reason, during a regular updated schedulted task for the IDM solution, the field was found with no info, and the software "thought" that the default parameter was "enabled" and all affected users got the "deny" option  checked (this is a weird
    "reverse" misunderstanding, because the proper state is "disabled" in AD, but the software set it to "Enabled", ebcause "thinks" that is "TSAllowLogon", in fact is the oposite meaning.
    2) I could find the "allowLogon" or "TSAllowLogon",  but it is inside a "UserParameter" option, like a multi-valued option:
    Get-ADUser -Filter {SAMAccountNAme -eq '<USERNAME>'} -Properties UserParameters
    The result was:
    UserParameters    : CtxCfgPresent                                   P☺CtxCfgPresent????☺CtxCfgFlags1????☺CtxShadow????*☻☺CtxMinEncryptionLevel?
    The exact same, as seeing in ADSI Edit/Advanced Attribute Editor, but i can see in a 3rd party LDAP browser, the LDAP browser decoded the field, showing a lot of other informations, like AllowLogon=0, among others

  • HTMLDB, Database Users, Permissions

    I am working with a client that has an Oracle DB app that uses Forms 6i for the UI. We want to start using HTMLDB in addition to Forms. Currently, all the users have a database username and password, and user permissions are controlled by database roles and individual table permissions. The goal is to allow the users to login to HTMLDB with their db username and password so the existing db roles and permissions will be in effect.
    I have my HTMLDB configuration setup without a PLSQL Username/Password in the marvel.conf file, and this allows users to login to the HTMLDB apps with their DB username and password. This works fine.
    I have a report setup that selects from an employee table. Only a few roles have select permissions on this table. (I will also add that this table is in a schema that is mapped to the HTMLDB workspace) What I am finding is that, regardless of the permissions assigned to the logged in user, they can run this report.
    Looking at the DB connections in Enterprise Manager, it shows the username of the logged in user, so it would apper that the webserver is connecting to the DB as I would expect. How is it that even non-privileged users can run this report?
    If I login via sqlplus as the same user and attempt to run a select against this table, I get "ora-00942 table or view does not exist", so I am sure my permissions are correct. What am I missing?
    Any help on this is greatly appreciated.
    -Tony

    Tony,
    It is not your imagination, this is how things are 'sposed to work. At a Forms/HTML DB site we worked on, individual users were granted database roles, as you described. Forms controlled access to functionality by interrogating user_role_privs and would display access points to modules via menus in strict accordance with the connected user's privileges. In the back-end, however, the application executed in the super-user schema that had object privileges on everything. But user-level access control had already been accomplished by filtering what could be presented in the UI.
    With HTML DB, your users are connected as their database account. This achieves authentication and obtains the value of USER from the database for :APP_USER. Those users have privileges on schema objects through roles. Roles are not enabled in stored procedures, which is the mechanism through which all database interaction is performed in HTML DB.
    The minimum that you'll need to do is to establish row-level access control by using Oracle's Virtual Private Database feature, or VPD (aka, FGAC/RLS), which you can enable for every page request using the VPD application attribute. There will be an excellent how-to published very soon about that. (BTW, you don't need to connect using the database accounts to use this feature, in fact it's designed assuming the opposite situation.)
    When you need to limit access to application components based on user privileges, you'll have to do much more. For example, you might build an authorization model based on user_role_privs. Ensure that all SQL against the application schema is performed through APIs. The APIs will run in the application schema which should own the objects and would therefore have all required object privileges. The authorization model will be implemented as an API that is called from HTML DB authorization schemes attached to pages, regions, processes, etc. Then you can do things like, if the current user is not a manager don't show them links to the 'Show My Employee Detail' page and don't let them run the page if they attempt to do so and also send someone an email if that happens.

  • Adding a domain user to the admin role within the local user management breaks all metro apps for all users!!

    Hi,
    I have posted this in another large thread under the "Windows 8 General" group but have not had any appropriate feedback from MS.
    After hours of testing and working with other users I have managed to isolate a simple situation that breaks all metro ui applications within Windows 8 for all users on the machine. Here are my exact steps and notes.
    Before continuing if you are running Avast then your solution may be to turn of the behaviour shield functionality as this also breaks metro apps. This is NOT the problem we are having!
    I have performed 3 cleans installs after isolating the problem and am able to reproduce the issue every time using the same steps on two different machines.
    First thing to say is that for us it has nothing to do with simply joining the domain, domain/group policies nor does it appear to have anything to do with the software we installed, the problem here is much more simple but the result is pretty terrible.
    Here are my exact steps of what I did to reproduce our problem:
    Complete format of HDD in preperation for a clean install
    Clean install performed
    Set up the machine initially with a local account
    Test metro apps - all working fine
    Open control panel from the desktop, click on System, change the system to join the domain, click reboot
    Log into the system using my domain account
    Test metro apps - all working fine
    Here's were the problem starts. I need my domain account to have admin rights on the local machine so I can install programs without the IT men having to come over and enter their password every 5 mins.
    I go to control panel via the desktop and click on User Accounts. From with here I then click on "Manage User Accounts". This requires the IT guys to enter their details to give me access to such functionality. This is fine
    In the dialog box that opens I can only see the local user that was initially created during setup. The "Group" for this local account shows as "Administrators" - Image included below (important to note that metro apps are working at this point)
    I click add and then add my domain account - also giving it administrator access
    Sign off or reboot to ensure the new security is applied
    Sign back in to the domain account
    Test metro - ALL BROKEN
    Sign out
    Sign in as local account
    Test Metro - NOW ALL BROKEN FOR THIS USER ALSO
    So as soon as I add my domain account to the local user accounts and set it as admin it breaks all metro apps for all users. This is on a totally clean install with nothing at all installed other than the OS.
    Annoyingly if I go back and change the domain account to a standard user or if I totally remove the domain account from the local account management system the problem does not go away for either user. basically it is now permanently broken. The only fix I
    could fathom was a full re install and not giving the domain user admin access to the local  machine.
    Screen one - this is the local user accounts window AFTER joining the domain and logging in with my domain account (All metro apps working at this point)
    Screen 2: User accounts AFTER joining the domain and AFTER adding domain account to local user management (METRO BROKEN)
    I have isolated my machine from all group policies so nothing like that is affecting me. Users I have spoken to in different companies have policies that automatically add users to the local user management. This means that metro apps break as
    soon as they join the domain which leads them to wrongly think it is group policies causing the error. Once they isolate themselves from this they can reproduce following my steps.
    Thanks

    Hi Juke,
    Thank you for the response and apologies for the delay in getting back to you. My machine was running a long task so I couldn't try your suggested solution.
    I had already tried running the registry merge suggested at the top of the thread to no avail. I had not tried deleting the OLE key totally so I did that and the problem still exists. I will post all the errors I see in event viewer below. For
    your info, since posting my initial comment I have sent out my steps to 7 different people and we can all reproduce the problem. This comes to 10 different machines (3 of them mine then the other guys) in 3 different businesses / domains. We see the same errors
    in event viewer.
    Under "Windows Logs" --> "Application" : I get two separate error events the first reads "Activation of app winstore_cw5n1h2txyewy!Windows.Store failed with error: The app didn't start. See the Microsoft-Windows-TWinUI/Operational log for additional
    information." The second arrives in the log about 15 seconds after the first and reads "App winstore_cw5n1h2txyewy!Windows.Store did not launch within its allotted time."
    Under "Windows Logs" --> "System" : I get one error that reads "The server Windows.Store did not register with DCOM within the required timeout."
    Under "Applications And Services Logs" --> "Microsoft" -->  "Windows" --> "Apps" --> "Microsoft-Windows-TWinUI/Operational" : I get one error that reads "Activation of the app winstore_cw5n1h2txyewy!Windows.Store for the
    Windows.Launch contract failed with error: The app didn't start."
    If you require any further information just let me know and I will provide as much as I can.
    Thanks

  • Running scripts from Java user permissions

    I have a web based application running on JBoss application server. It during its processing of certain requests has to call some cshell scripts using Runtime.exec(). Now it seems to be working fine in development environment, however on testing environment it seems to freeze. On further debugging, and digging up the issue it came up that it could be a permissions issue, as certain users have the permissions to run the scripts and some don't.
    The Question therefore would be that, once a script is executed from an app server, which user is used? and in order for the script to be executed who should be granted permissions.
    Thanks in advance.

    Peter__Lawrey wrote:
    When any application starts another application (java or otherwise) it does so as the same user by default.
    The user running the JBoss is the user used.
    This is how all OSes work (to my knowledge)
    Which operating system are you using?Thanks, in that case I have a second question. Is there a way to force a certain user? I mean somebody other than the one who started the app server programmatically?

  • User Permissions being corrupted by InDesign DPS Tools

    I am using a Mac Pro, running OSX 10.9.5 (2x2.26 GHz Quad-Core, 14GB DDR3).
    I login with an admin account (I did have no other accounts).
    Earlier this week I installed Adobe Creative Cloud and specifically the Digital Publishing tools. When I try to use the Folio Builder I get an error message "An update is required to use Folio Builder.  Please click here to download the Folio Producer tools."
    I contacted Adobe support about this and they told me it was a user permissions corruption (following 3 hours of chat and phone calls!). They fixed it by creating a second admin user account. The Folio Builder worked using this account, so they then amended the read/write Sharing & Permissions of InDesign in my main account. This fixed the issue. For a day. It then broke again.
    I went back to Adobe and they told me to contact Apple as is an operating system problem. After much arguing I have had enough of Adobe and their passing the buck. I followed this link to reset my user permissions: http://macs.about.com/od/Troubleshooting/qt/Mac-Troubleshooting-Reset-User-Accou nt-Permissions.htm
    This fixed it too. For a day also. I now have the same error.
    The only work-around I have so far is to use InDesign and DPS in the second Admin user account that I have now created. Appears to be fine.
    So, to sum up, my user account permissions appear to being corrupted quickly by the InDesign DPS tools. I am really stumped by this and really frustrated. Any suggestions are welcomed!

  • How to force my Web part to run regardless of users permissions

    I have created the following custom permission , which will allow users to Create items without being able to view,edit them:-
    $spweb=Get-SPWeb -Identity "http://vstg01";
    $spRoleDefinition = New-Object Microsoft.SharePoint.SPRoleDefinition;
    $spRoleDefinition.Name = "Submit only";
    $spRoleDefinition.Description = "Can submit/add forms/files/items into library or list but cannot view/edit them.";
    $spRoleDefinition.BasePermissions = "AddListItems, ViewPages, ViewFormPages, Open";
    $spweb.RoleDefinitions.Add($spRoleDefinition);
    $spweb.Dispose();
    then inside my "Issue Tracking List" i stop inheriting permission from team site , and i define the following permission for all users:-
    now users can add items and they can not view them ,, which is perfect :).
    But now i wanted to add a custom web part to my Create form which will hide certain fields if the user is not within specific group ,the web part looks as follow:-
    protected override void OnInit(EventArgs e)
    base.OnInit(e);
    InitializeControl();
    using (SPSite site = new SPSite(SPContext.Current.Site.Url))
    using (SPWeb web = site.OpenWeb())
    web.AllowUnsafeUpdates = true;
    SPGroup group = web.Groups["Intranet Visitors"];
    bool isUser = web.IsCurrentUserMemberOfGroup(group.ID);
    if (!isUser)
    SPList myList = web.Lists.TryGetList("Issue List");
    SPField titleField = myList.Fields.GetField("Category");
    titleField.Hidden = true;
    titleField.ShowInEditForm = false;
    titleField.ShowInNewForm = false;
    titleField.ShowInDisplayForm = false;
    titleField.Update();
    myList.Update();
    // web.AllowUnsafeUpdates = false;
    else
    SPList myList = web.Lists.TryGetList("Issue List");
    SPField titleField = myList.Fields.GetField("Title");
    titleField.Hidden = false;
    titleField.Update();
    myList.Update();
    // //web.AllowUnsafeUpdates = false;
    web.AllowUnsafeUpdates = false;
    then i deploy the web part and i add it to the Create form. but after doing so user are not able to create items and they will get the following error:-
    Sorry this site has not been shared with you
    so can anyone advice how to force my web part to run , without checking the users permissions or with minimal permssions ?

    in this case, use the elevated privileges to read/add/edit items with elevated privileges with below code.
    but make sure the page which you add this web part have at least read access to all user.
    SPSecurity.RunWithElevatedPrivileges(delegate()
    using (SPSite site = new SPSite(web.Site.ID))
    // implementation details omitted
    More: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/microsoft.sharepoint.spsecurity.runwithelevatedprivileges.aspx
    Bistesh
    Ok after adding :-
    SPSecurity.RunWithElevatedPrivileges(delegate()
    users with the following permissions can create items:-
    "AddListItems, ViewPages, ViewFormPages, Open";
    and they can not edit/read them, which is great. but i am facing a caching problem , because if user is inside the "Intranet visitor" he will be able to see Category field as mentioned in my code, but if i remove him from the "Intranet Visitor"
    he still can see the field,, although in the web part i specify not to display the Category column if the user is not inside the "Intranet visitor " group... here is my current code:-
    protected override void OnInit(EventArgs e)
    base.OnInit(e);
    InitializeControl();
    SPSecurity.RunWithElevatedPrivileges(delegate()
    using (SPSite site = new SPSite(SPContext.Current.Site.Url))
    using (SPWeb web = site.OpenWeb())
    web.AllowUnsafeUpdates = true;
    SPGroup group = web.Groups["Intranet Visitor"];
    bool isUser = web.IsCurrentUserMemberOfGroup(group.ID);
    if (!isUser)
    SPList myList = web.Lists.TryGetList("Risk & Issue Management");
    SPField titleField = myList.Fields.GetField("Category");
    titleField.Hidden = true;
    titleField.ShowInEditForm = false;
    titleField.ShowInNewForm = false;
    titleField.ShowInDisplayForm = false;
    titleField.Update();
    myList.Update();
    // web.AllowUnsafeUpdates = false;
    else
    SPList myList = web.Lists.TryGetList("Risk & Issue Management");
    SPField titleField = myList.Fields.GetField("Category");
    titleField.Hidden = false;
    titleField.ShowInEditForm = true;
    titleField.ShowInNewForm = true;
    titleField.ShowInDisplayForm = true;
    titleField.Update();
    myList.Update();
    web.AllowUnsafeUpdates = false;
    so can you advice please ? is this a caching problem, or once the user add at-least single item he will be able to see all columns ?

    Hi
    Problem:
    I can't Open 3rd Part Apps with my user (FireFox, Chrome, Dropbox, GoogleDrive, Mega, Final Cut Pro X, etc) they just star bouncing and after a while they stop bouncing then i righ click on them and it says "Application Not Responding", but i can open native apps like Safari, iTunes, iMovie, Finder, Settings
    Other Events:
    -Just Before this happend i was editting a video on FCPX, y export it and tried to upload to Google Drive (in Chrome), when it was uploading I closed FCPX and the uploading stop it at 91%, y tried to reupload but then I realized that this video was in a temp folder and it wasnt there anymore, so I open FCPX to export it again and i couldnt, it was just bouncing and then "App not responding".
    -After Installing Yosemite i feelt it slow even after it finished the encriptation File Vault, specially in chrome.
    I have tried:
    1-Repair Disk Permisions
    2-Reset SMC
    3-Reinstall FCPX
    4-Decrypted the Disk and create another user and i was able to run Chrome, FireFox and FCPX, When I opened FCPX it started but when it was trying to open the project that i was working , it restarted the app and i couldnt open FCPX again, just bouncing and App Not Responding
    Any suggestions to keep my User working?

    Yes, as long as you let TM do a full disc backup (that is, you do not exclude anything in the TM backup settings) you will have a backup that allows a full system restore - puts everything back just as it was.
    You can also clone your system using the shareware app SuperDuper or the donation-ware app CarbonCopyCloner
    http://www.shirt-pocket.com/SuperDuper/SuperDuperDescription.html
    http://www.bombich.com/
    Both of these apps will make a true clone (literally, a bit-by-bit copy) of your hard drive onto an external drive.  This clone will actually be bootable itself (you plug in the drive and hold the option key during startup then select the clone to boot from).  You would boot from the clone, then reverse-clone it back onto your internal hard drive.
    If you are really serious about being highly confident of not loosing files, you could use both  - I keep a TM backup on one drive, and 2 clones on separate bus-powered hard drives.
    P.S. even if you had not had any issues, you really, REALLY should be keeping regular, up to date backups anyway - things go flooey without warning sometimes and you risk loosing everything on your machine if you DON'T keep regular backup copies available.

  • Unknown User Permissions - Erase and Install Backup Plan

    Hi everyone,
    I upgraded from Tiger and therefore have the unknown user permissions problems. I'd like to erase and install my system and am writing to verify the following:
    If I copy my data (with the funny permissions) to a Powerbook in Firewire Disk Mode, reinstall Leopard on my new iMac, then copy the data back from the Powerbook in disk target mode, will the permissions be fixed?
    Thank you, Tom Bertram.

    Thomas,
    If you are talking about the "unknown" group problem seen in the permissions portion of Get Info, be aware that Apple is in the process of putting out a Knowledge Base article to address this and it may be wise to be patient a little longer.
    The user accounts inherited from Tiger belong to a "group" that has a missing piece of information -- a group name that Leopard wants. The installer should have dealt with this but it didn't. Anyway, a couple of simple Terminal commands can fix this for each such account. Once the Group description is proper, there will no longer be any need to change the group membership of your files.
    Unfortunately the first couple tries Apple made of describing how to do this appear to be in error. See the following thread:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1280472&tstart=0
    The correct commands should be posted by Apple shortly and then you can resolve this without having to do a whole re-install.

  • Problem resetting user permissions- CMD R not working

    Hi,
    Thanks in advance to those willing to lend some help!
    GEAR:
    2.53 GZ Core 2 Duo Mini running 10.8.5 All updates done.
    I believe I have a current Time Capusle backup at my disposal.
    New Macbook Air available to help.
    ISSUE:
    In the last couple of days I seem to be losing permissions to do things in my user profile which is the admin. Can't dump anything to trash without a password, mail will not open as it doesn't have permission anymore, can't move files around from folder to folder, Excel won't save as it is now read only, Firefox won't open as it thinks there is already an open version...Messages won't sync properly anymore or access address book to bring up peoples names to match the phone numbers... etc..etc.
    Research showed the problem is likely user permissions and the cure is resetting. Knowing this has to be done via terminal after a COMMAND  R boot into recovery mode I have tried everything to make this happen. No go! Apparently the partition required to boot into recovery never happened during install as the computer insists it is not there. Worse it will not default to internet recovery either. When I hold OPTION and boot I have only the HD visible and no recovery option to choose from.
    I have created a 10.8 USB recovery stick (on my mac air) and can boot to that on the mini but there is no terminal option (as far as I can see) to allow me to reset the permissions. I also tried to boot to an old Leopard CD hoping that might work.. nada.
    I have done a verify disk and repair disk permissions. All good. The computer works 100% fast and proper if I login under a new user profile so my issue appears not to be hardware related at all.
    Given that I can't CMD R into any recovery is there any other way to reset these permissions?
    Anyone know what would cause this to happen?
    Thanks!!
    Dave.

    In light of the fact there are other things Etre noted as issues I posted the lot. Sorry it's longer but thought I may lead you in the correct direction.
