is there going to an update on iOS 5 to fix the compatibility with the apps?

based on your other psots i am guessing you are still trying to get the NBA app to work. I hope you are writing to them as well, as they are the ones that are going to have to fix whatever their issue is. Apple cannot fix their app. Like everybody else, I have gotten close to 60 app updates over the last week or two from developers upgrading their apps to work with IOS5
NBA needs to do so as well, and if they do not get thier player contract stuff figured out, this app may be the only basketball we see for a while.

I have a 2nd Generation iPod Touch which I've had for a couple of years and I've never experienced any problems with it until the most recent update on the version of software it's running. Since the 4.2.1 update I am no longer able to run some apps on my device and I can't understand why. The two apps in question that won't run are...

Everytime I attempt to sync either of these two apps it comes up with an error message stating "The app was not installed on the iPod because it is not compatible with this iPod". Now I've looked around at other problems with app compatibility issues and most people say that you should simply update the iPod. My device is currently up to date so I can't understand why these apps aren't working. Is it because the hardware itself on the 2nd Gen iPod is simply out of date? Any help or insight into this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Your iPod's hardware is insufficient. djay for iPhone & iPod touch requires an iPod touch 3rd generation or later (per the developer's web site), and The 7th Guest requires iOS 4.3 or later which will only run on a 3rd-gen iPod touch. If you want to run these two apps, you'll need to get a new, or at least newer, iPod.

App compatibility problems after installing Yosemite 10.10.3?

I just installed the latest version of Yosemite (10.10.3) on my 27inch iMac (from 2012/13). 16GB RAM, 3 TB drive,NVIDIA GeForce GTX 675MX 1024MB.
Since then, I get the spinning beach ball of death and apps just hang (iTunes, Safari) every few minutes and then restart a few seconds later (it happened when Iwas typing this note for example). Feels like app compatibility or permissions problems. I tried the disk utility app to verify and repair disk. Says everything's fine. Switched off wifi to see if it was anything from outside. Still happens.
The only thing that has changed recently has been the MacOS update.
Any hints?

If I downgrade from 4.01 to 3.* will I face app compatibility problems?

Can someone who has already downgraded please tell me if they've run into any 3rd party app compatibility issues.
I'm totally over this ******** iOSlow 4.01 on my 3G. Missed another REALLY important call yesterday due to unlock/answer bar freeze.
But I've got a number of 3rd party apps (which I've updated since 4.0 release)that I find really handy and want to know, will they still work if I downgrade?

iTunes will always update an app to the latest version, and if that version happens to be one that will only run on iOS4 then you're out of luck.
However, there is (apparently) a way around this - a way to downgrade your apps back to OS 3 compatible ones.
According to the chap behind the Tube Status app*, all you need to do is go to your Time Machine backup for an app, and restore the older version of the app to your iTunes library. Can't try it myself as my 3G had no problems with iOS 4, and anyway I'm on an iPhone 4 now, but it certainly sounds like it should work.

App Compatibility Submission Fee and Payment Schedule

We are trying to submit an app for Windows 8.1 compatibility logo. We login to the dashboard and submit the report created by the App Certification kit. Next, the web site shows the "Legal Agreements". We click on the link "Windows
Certification Program Testing Agreement v1.0". Section 6a of this agreement reads "Company will pay Microsoft for the amounts due for testing Company Products under this Agreement according to the fee schedule and payment schedule posted at
the WDC Website and/or Microsoft’s invoices...". But we could not find this schedule anywhere. Anybody knows how much this charge will be? Thanks.

This does not apply to us. Ours is user app running on Windows 8.1. Basically we like to have our app listed when search on the page below:

We have done this many times in the past. We release a new version and need to have it listed there. The procedure is:
- Run the App Certification kit get a report with "passed" status
- Login to https://sysdev.microsoft.com, go to the Dashboard and submit the report.
- Wait for a while and the program will be listed in the Compatibility Center page.
We do not see any fee requirements before. But now the "Legal Agreements" is shown when we try to submit the report. We do not mind paying a fee if it is reasonable. The problem is we don't know what the fee is and cannot find out where it
is posted. (We believe it is part of the yearly membership fee, but just want to make sure).

Palm Pre and backwards Palm app compatibility? 64 bit OS - Vista or XP Pro -- compatibility -- ?

I am brand new to the board, so please bear with me if these questions have already been addressed elsewhere.
The announcement of the Palm Pre might have just retained me as a Palm loyalist. I was starting to look at BlackBerries, etc. for my next phone upgrade. And then along comes the Pre.....which looks to be a Very Good Thing. However, I have a couple of questions:
1. Will the Palm Pre be compatible with the apps that I currently have loaded onto my Palm TX? Will a simple transfer of apps / data from the TX to the Pre be possible?
2. Will I be able to sync the Pre with my Vista 64 bit laptop, or with my XP Pro 64 bit desktop? Or does the Pre still lack 64 bit compatibility? (Man, I hope that it will "do" 64 bit........)

Yes -- my Palm TX has served me well for a few years. It's still functioning quite nicely. However, I'd hate to have to manually re-enter all of the data that's stored in it into another device. Plus I wouldn't want to give up several of the apps that I have installed on that device.
IMO, in many ways the TX 'anticipated' the Pre -- rotating screen (albeit manually set), and a list of other features. Heh -- but these days, if a device is six months old -- then it's yesterday's news. ;-) The TX is a circa 2005 era device, IIRC. So it's an ancient historical relic in today's world. But I still like it. A lot. Few electronic devices that I've ever had the pleasure of owning have been as useful to me as the TX has. That's why I hated the idea of switching brands......but I didn't see much choice, until now. The Pre looks to be a real shot in the arm for Palm. And for my continuing to use Palm's devices into the future. The BlackBerry Strom was a real disappointment. And I don't like iPhones. But I don't think that the Pre is going to disappoint. If the device lives up to its promise: then I think that we'll have a top-notch winner on our hands. A great replacement for my venerable TX.
Heh -- the first thing that I loved about the TX was the ability to download & read ebooks while traveling. One TX in the pocket is a lot easier to carry around than a suitcase full of hardback novels. The Pre looks to take that 'convenience factor' to a whole 'nother level..........
Now......if only I can get the legacy Palm OS apps to work with it, and it syncs up with my 64 bit PC's: then everything will be right with the world.........

Unfortunately yes it is. The newest version of the Facebook app require iOS 4 or later. The 1G iPod Touch can only be updated as high as iOS 3.1.3 and there are no downloads of older versions of the app available in the App Store.
However, YouTube should still work as it is a default app that comes preloaded with iOS.

IPhone and iPad app compatibility

I currently own an iPhone 4. I am planning on purchasing an iPad 2. If I purchase an app on my iPhone, will I have to pay again for the iPad version of the same app? For example, the app Where's My Water? has the plus symbol next to the price. Does that mean I would be able to download the app on my iPad 2 at no charge if I already paid for it on my iPhone?

On the iPad 2 if you use the same Apple id and password you used to download the app to your iPhone 4 you do not need to pay again.

BT Wifi woes : Bt Id and App Compatability

BT Wifi looks really appealing if I can make it work. I have two problems:
1) The latest version of the BT Wifi app claims not to be compatible with my Android device, although a previous version did at least install. I tried deleting and reinstalling, so Google Play now tells me it is installed but not compatible, whereas the device thinks it is not installed at all. I can get a log-in page via a browser but then hit the second problem.
2) Because I became a BT Broadband customer after 2013, I need a primary email id to log on. But because I was already a customer for other BT products before 2013, my BT Id is not an email address. I have created a BT email address, but I cannot log on with either my (non-email) BT ID or my (non-ID) BT email.
I don't expect a quick solution, but can anyone tell me whether BT know these problems exist? How do we request to get notified when they get fixed?

When you became a broadband customer you should have been given a Primary Email Address and password.
It is these that you use to login to BT Wi-Fi.
I assume you have not been migrated to BT Mail.

App Compatibility With Yosemite OS Update

According to roaring apps there are 4 apps of mine that Yosemite will not support. The apps are Aimersoft media converter, Fidelia, Quicken 2007 (I suppose I could pay the $75.00 for the 2015 update which is compatible), Stuffit Destinations and VueScan (again, I could spend $200 - $300 and replace my old Epson scanner). Am I wrong on this? If I'm not is anyone else hesitant to upgrade because of this issue?

Are you sure about Vuescan? That application gets updated regularly. Did the developer drop support for your scanner in recent versions?
You don't have to do anything for a while if Mavericks is working OK for you. And you don't have to do a scorched earth upgrade that wipes out your Mavericks drive. Before you do anything, make sure you have a backup copy of the Mavericks installer. If you didn't save it or put it onto a flash drive, you should download it again and store it in a safe location. If you want to make a flash drive installer (you should do the same with the Yosemite installer):

You can install Yosemite on a separate drive and evaluate it. You can keep Mavericks going for the apps you can't or don't want to upgrade. I don't use Quicken, but have seen some discussion of it lately at Macintouch, and most users seem to feel that the 2007 version is preferable.

TA38529 Cannot download app - compatability issue

My ipod has according the latest version of software 4.2.1 on a model mc086ll, 3rd generation. I tried downloading a game from the app store that works on 3rd generation it said app is not compatible. Ideas?

It sounds like you actually have a 8 GB 2G iPod Touch, which can only be updated as high as iOS 4.2.1 as you have noticed. If you look on the back, it has probably has a model numbero A1288, where as a 3G model would have a model # of A1318.

Why my software needs Local Admin? Windows 7 App Compatibility

I have a software that works great on Windows 7
My problem is that I can run it only with local admin. if I'm logged in with a standard user - I get errors and the software doesn't open. no errors in the event viewer
Usually what I do in those cases is searching the registry or the folder that the user needs a modify permission and add it
Sometimes I use procmon if I can't find it manually.
in this case - procmon didn't help me :/. no "Access Denied" rows at all...
I tried to add the user to the "Power Users"\"Distributed COM Users" group and I still get the same error.
I tried to use the compatibility tab though the software works perfect on windows 7, my only problem is the prerequisite of local admin I'm trying to remove.
Is there any tool I can use to find out what the software does that requires local admin rights?

Some programs are designed to perform legitimate administrative actions and therefore require administrative permissions. There is no idea to run it without administrator.

As an addition to sberman's post above, if the app hasn't been purchased previously, you could download the app to iTunes on your computer. Once it has downloaded to iTunes, proceed as the link above.

Is there any way to know what apps are compatible with an old iPhone? Trying to load so software on an older device for the kids so they won't want to borrow mine. having challenges finding apps that will run on it.
